Connection widgets not working - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hey guys,
I'm running Hal9K rom on my Xtrons unit and got it all set up the way i like it but i can't find a widget that tells the bluetooth connection status.
I am lokking for a small widget that tells me if and who's phone is connected.
I downloaded Bluetooth connection widget from the playstore and it's exactly what i was looking for......but it doesn't work both ways.
It works on my phone, tells me it's connected to the head unit, but installed on the head unit it doesn't see it's connected to the phone.

Bluetooth Auto-Connect?

This is my first time with a bluetooth device so I'm not sure what the norm is.
I got my device (T-Mobile G2x) paired with my bluetooth receiver (a BluBridge rx) and when I connect it all is well and everything works. The thing is it won't automatically reconnect. Is there something I need to do to get it to automatically reconnect? Or is my best bet to add a bluetooth settings shortcut on my homescreen?

HTC U11 MirrorLink on Subaru Legacy 2017 (Or any HeadUnit)

So I can't seem to get this to work. I downloaded Rock Scout, plugged my U11 in plugged it in, it shows "Use USB for MirrorLink" so I switch to file transfer usb and I get a new notification saying "MirrorLink Active", but my "MirrorLink" icon doesn't activate. I know the Legacy has MirrorLink v1.1, does anybody know if I have to do anything else to make MirrorLink work?
Also has anyone gotten MirrorLink to work on any car HU?
I posted a reply b4 didn't seem to work. To mirror htc u11 to a car head unit.
1. turn head unit on select mirror
2. have phone on a homepage
3. swipe up with three fingers this turns on mirroring.
4. select car entertainment system or whatever comes up on your phone.
That should mirror across it worked for me and my kenwood head unit I just installed.
remember every time you leave mirror to listen to music or directions or anything. to get back to mirroring you need to follow the steps again.
Hope that works for you as I said it worked for me. Good luck Chatto
I checked on cert.mirrorlink.com if your htc has mirrorlink and it is not showing up.
if you go on your phone settings at device connection or network connection (i don't remember exactly) can you see MirrorLink service there?
I think Subaru's mirror link version is not compatible with their crap head unit? I don't know. Yes I see "MirrorLink connection" in the USB connection settings. When plugged in, the phone thinks it's on, it just seems like Subaru's implementation doesn't recognize it, and of course a lot if not all the 2018 Subarus come with Android Auto. Guess they got tired of everyone complaining MirrorLink was foobar'd.
I stopped caring/trying. A bit of a shame actually.
What's the benefit of MirrorLink vs just bluetooth pairing? I just use bluetooth with my Kenwood, though I don't think it supports MirrorLink, and the Subi we have is a 2013, which also doesn't support MirrorLink that I know of, but also has good old bluetooth. Is there some secret i'm out of the loop about, or is it more or less trivial prefrence?
Well mirrorlink could let me use, say Waze on my headunit display instead of buying a mount and mounting my phone. The gist of mirrorlink is basically you can get your phone display on the headunit. But yes bluetooth works.
Anyway for those interested in what I see and the "version" of software on my headunit:
Settings showing mirrorlink active: http://imgur.com/a/cNymR
Notifications saying mirrorlink is on: http://imgur.com/a/TYMfM
my headunit version info: http://imgur.com/a/5cl14
Maybe its a version issue and I need an update, but bottom line is, if Subaru says they have it, and my phone has it, it should work. However judging by the feedback around the internet, it would appear Subaru is at fault here somehow. So shame on them for choosing poor technology and/or having engineers implement it poorly.
Double post. Sorry

You are correct, I didn't see it on there either. But it's clearly on the device. Check my post above. Maybe it has 1.2 on it and Subaru only supports 1.1. (They had the same issue with 1.0 and 1.1). I sent HTC a question about it so we'll see.

[px5] bluetooth and torque issues

Hi
I am using a PX5 system and have an OBD2 elm227 (tried 2 different brands, 1x icarly and a white label product) and a iphone 7 paired.
The iphone BT works, i can call etc and in my BT settings menu all the devices are listed as paired etc..
Problem:
When i start Torque Pro and i want to choose the BT adaptor there is nothing shown...
According to Torque there is NO BT adaptor paired at all which i can choose from.
I use the latest offcial (paid) PRO version of Torque!
I rebooted the device already but this had no effect.
Is there a fix for this?
I am using malaysk rom on my PX5 device, so it is rooted and has xposed installed.
Who can help/advise
[update]
It worked after a reboot but it seems BT does not work after ACC off/on, only on a reboot or cold start.
Hi there, i also use OBD2 with torque and works like a charm!
Try to delete all the BT paired connections first and after that, pair first the OBD2 adapter and test it!
Regards.
1. Press reset button
2. Unpair
3. Start the phone app and pair from there
Go to torque app and select the obd
it seems when my system goes standby (acc off) the BT connection is lost after power on.
All paired devices are simply not working anymore...
Sometimes they aren's even visable anymore in BT menu after ACC off/on, on a cold start or system reboot they work again.
Is there a way that when the system goes to sleep (acc) these apps keep running in background or are restarted when ACC is turned on again (not cold start/boot).
Also other apps are killed and not started anymore on resume.
Also i cannot find any option too change the ACC time, in an other rom i could set this time for example to 10 seconds and if then returned on it would cold start.
On PX5 Malaysk rom i cannot find any menu for changing ACC sleep/shutdown time

Search the thread for the no-kill mtcmanager.apk
This will keep all apps on resume
To be able to see they menu for shut down delay you have to be on an mcu higher than 2.48 I think.
I'm having a similar problem. Iphone via bluetooth and torque worked perfect until yesterday.
Now, Iphone is not on the paired devices, nor I can pair with it again. And torque sees the obd adapter, but can´t talk to ecu and I dont see the obd under bluetooth devices .
What shoud I do?

unfortunately I have the same issue - BT works till next power on of the radio...then only after reboot but I can not connect the paired devices...
I think, it wasn't so in original ROM...
I am using malaysk rom on my PX5 device too.
Ok I was able to get Bluetooth back full time by reinstalling maylaysk rom. Does anyone have a copy of the original torque that came with the factory rom? I have the paid version but I'm having issues with it
Same here hoping for original version of torque that came with px3 device.

The torque app that came with the unit and torque pro did the same thing for me as soon as I went from MCU 2.75 to 2.8 for my HA MTCD unit.
See this thread for the torque app you need... It's at the bottom of post 1.

I just posted in Dasaita and Hal9k_ threads regarding my BT OBD.
1. Connecting but not recognized by apps
2. Not connecting to MCU anymore.
Both have been resolved with...
1. Update to latest MCU (my HA is 2.83).
2. Install/update rom to latest Dasaita or Hal9k_ rom.
3. Do a Factory Reset
4. Connect to BT OBD
5. EVERYTHING WORKS FLAWLESSLY NOW FOR ME.

For all those wondering about the connection problems - I have spent the last week trying everything - then randomly saw a video on connecting one of these devices. Stock setting for the bluetooth is password 0000 - it showed changing the password under bluetooth settings to 1234 which is the stock setting for all OBD2 devices. I went into settings - deleted all bluetooth devices - changed the password to 1234 - searched - found the OBD2 sensor (BLUEDRIVER) and it instantly connected and showed in paired devices. Fired up BlueDriver App and BAM! shes working without a hitch - fired up Torque Pro Lite and bam - connected without a hitch - for others with ELM you need to download the App for ELM because it only works with certain devices. After all the work I did trying to get it to work it was really just one little issue with the handshake *being the password* since you cant enter the password from the Bluetooth device like you would from your phone. Setting them both to the same solved the issue.

Monitoring BlueTooth connection on a car HU

I am looking for a Widget that will monitor Bluetooth connection to a car's HU, and indicate which (if any) devices are currently connected.
I have managed to find a similar widget for WiFi, that will display the SSID of the network the HU is connected to, and that is most useful.
Now I am looking for a similar Widget for Bluetooth, but so far, have come up empty handed.
HU is OREO (Not Rooted).. The only Bluetooth Widget I have found that displays what is connected is for a much earlier Android OS, and does not seem to work with Oreo 8.0
Can anyone point me in the right direction - or is there some technical reason why this cannot be readily achieved with OREO ??

Question Mekede m300s bluetooth OBD2 help

I tried searching but found nothing relevant. I have a m300s 3gb ram 32gb rom Qled installed in my vehicle it works flawlessly but I have a Bluedriver OBD2 adapter that I would like to use to avoid purchasing another OBD2 device. On my phone I turn on Bluetooth I open the Bluedriver App and scan for the adapter and it pops up and you hit connect. So I downloaded the app on the head unit and open it and scan but nothing comes up. I have downloaded some other bluetooth apps and they see the device but I can't connect with the app still. Is there a workaround or configuration I can try to get this adapter to work? Or does someone have a recommened one that works with the unit. I'd love to use the bluedriver one because of the built in solutions they have for codes and problems with the vehicles.
You need to go in factory settings and enable OBD. Password for factory settings is 3368.
