[APP] HTTP Downloader - Your downloads won't fail anymore - Android Apps and Games

You would have experienced download failures at least once in your life.
Now I have a solution for this: HTTP Downloader, a free android app on Google play. It is an innovative solution for almost all problems that comes along with downloads.
As a recent release you will need to search Continue failed download on google play to locate the app
How it works
It can be used to request your download from any specified byte offset & up to any byte limit. This has got several advantages
1) Continue expired download links: You can request download from where you stopped. i.e. if you were downloading a file of 5.2GB and download failed at 4.9GB, you can download remaining 0.3GB using a fresh download link.
2) Continue failed download from other apps (like chrome): Even if you were downloading file on your PC, and download fails at 97%, you can download remaining 3% using HTTP Downloader on your phone. These file parts can be joined using File Joiner available on their tutorials page for free. It also houses inbuilt file joiner.
3) Overcome storage limit: Even if your internal storage is limited to 3GB and you were downloading 5GB file, you can download it as two 2.5GB parts. Download first one, transfer to PC, download other, join them. Yeay....
4) Overcome high speed quata limits: If your daily high speed data is limited to 3GB, you can download 2.5GB today, and remaining yesterday. You need not worry about download failures and link expiry.
5) Download using multiple devices: You can download first 2.5GB using one device and remaining 2.7GB from another parallelly for higher speed download. You can later join these files to get the actual file.
6) Request using custom headers & view response: This can be used as an advanced network vulnerability checking tool as you can request using custom HTTP Headers and view how server responds.
Have a try. I am sure you will like it.

Looks like awesome app. downloaded from play store.. Will sure right review after using it for a while
Edit:As soon as i start downloading it starts to lag. Then app not responding pop up come.I am on Pie

You can see a textfield asking for 'file path' on the top. Please use that to change the file name, files will be joined easily.
Sorry for trouble associated with app lags. App is not optimized for android 9. Next update will resolve the error and will be released within 2 days.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S GT I-9008 in China. No Android market application !

Hello,
just got a Samsung Galaxy S in China (under the name of samsung GT-I9008) and use it with China Telecom as the carrier/operator
Specs as follows
Model Name : GT-I9008
Hardware version : 1.0
Firmware version : Ophone OS 2.0
Kernel : 2.6.29 Zeus 1
To my biggest disappointment, the phone doesnt come with Android market but with the Mobile phone operator own device called MM ( Mobile Market) which is only in Chinese !! and very limited in terms of applications you could download.
Is there any way I could install instead Android Market ?
Many thanks in advance for your reply
Christophe
I have the same problem in middle east.
Any help please.
I helped a friend with the same phone. Basically do the following:
1. Download and install z4root
2. Download the Cyanogenmod Google Apps (EPE54B)
3. Open up the update.zip file and get Vending.apk out of \system\app\ and copy to SD card using UMS mode.
4. Use File Explorer on the phone to copy the file from /sdcard to /data/app
5. Reboot
Any luck installing Google Apps on i9008 (Samsung Galaxy S for TD-SCDMA)?
Guys,
I followed the instructions posted on this thread and other sites, to help a friend who recently bought this phone. Successfully rooted the phone. Installed the Google Apps as instructed, but they all are malfunctioning to the point of being unusable.
- Gmail - only works OK with one account, will not allow extra accounts
- Google Maps - zooming does not function
- YouTube - does not even start
- Market - gets stuck at 0% download point for any downloaded apps
If someone managed to install any (or all of these) Google Apps on their i9008, I would be grateful for instructions on how to properly install.
thanks!!
I installed after updating the official ROM to the latest version. This is 2.1 eclair rather than 2.0 based so may explain why it doesn't work for some people. In that case, using the cyanogenmod 4 gapps files may work.
Another possibility is that not all files were copied from the extracted update.zip to the relevant places under /system (yes, it is /system, not /data as I mentioned in my last post)
These would be /system/app, /system/framework etc.
I daresay that you'll need to copy all files from the folders in update.zip over to the right places. I had to delete some of the Chinese apps to make space for all gapps.
Tell me if it works for you. Cheers.
Hi ,
thanks for your input! As I am not at all an expert on technical stuff and do not want to have my phone no longer working, please let me recap :
- I have downloaded the file z4root.1.3.0.apk --> then i have to install it on my SD card and launch the application?
- Checked to download the "Cyanogenmod Google Apps (EPE54B) and it appears on ur link that there are dozens of different files according to phone models but none for the Samsung GT I-9008. Kindly let me know which one to consider.
Did your friend with the same phone eventually managed to have all google apps including the english android market by doing such installation?
Again, the specs of my phone are :
Model Name : GT-I9008
Hardware version : 1.0
Firmware version : Ophone OS 2.0
Much appreciate your help !
Best
Christophe
Yes, we did manage to get the English market (and many Google apps) running properly.
With zroot, install then run it, choose the permanent root option. It'll reboot the phone to finish the rooting.
The gapps version you need to download is listed in the Cyanogenmod 5 row (android 2.1 or eclair based) and is under the HDPI column (means high dots per inch, or just a high resolution display as the i9008 has). Any of the links in that entry should be fine if they work.
I have realised that in my last post, I mentioned copying to /system/app. This is not possible unless you do the following:
Get http://androidterm.googlecode.com/files/Term.apk install same way as zroot.
Run it then type:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
Quit out of it then copy the extracted contents of update.zip to the corresponding directories under /system using file explorer.
Same thing happened to me w/
Model Name : GT-I9008
Hardware version : 1.0
Firmware version : Ophone OS 2.0
I had to follow the instructions above
thanks for your input..
Is your phone also operated by China Mobile ? was told that it was not possible to root the GT I-9008 being operated by China Mobile.
Anyhow, will try and follow above process.
Well I have watched an interview for Galaxy S2 and they showed a new technology in it...And told that they are challenging the Android market as Android challenged the Iphone...
How about this? Any news?
Hi, now I need some help...
I playing with my China Mobile I9008 yesterday, and as I trying without sucess to find a way to install the market, I think I installed a wrong version of clockworkmod, now my I9008 is bricked (I think). Its starts but after first screen (where's appears I9008 name and so on) the boot come back to ophone screen and keep in this looping more than 20 times... full wipe and others doesn't work
In my mind if I apply again the update.zip can solve, but my file having problems showing erros, can not read the file, etc...
I tryed to find this file but I have no success...
Someone can help me? have some update.zip to my i9008ZMJI1 firmware version?
Thanks.
Install factory image
Ok, I've been trying to find a way to install CM (and the market app) onto my GT-I9008L and have managed to nearly brick my phone a number of times. The only thing I have succeeded in is rooting my phone (use Z4root) and installing a fresh factory image.
(I apologize for broken links, XDA doesn't trust me to post clickable links yet)
To install a fresh factory image:
a) Get the software from this Chinese thread: bbs.dkdiy.net/thread-12788-1-1.html
--The first message in the thread has a link to a RAR file that contains everything you need. Including all the tools & the image itself
--To see the link you'll have to create an account and post to the thread
--I was able to do it by using a combination of google chrome and google translate to work my through the free registration process.
b) run Odin v1.81 (I've tried other versions of Odin...they don't work)
c) select the files shown in this image: www .dkdiy.net/article.asp?id=633
d) the file versions in the image don't match the RAR file. The key is put the CSC file into the CSC blank, the CP file in the "phone" blank, the "all low" file into the PDA blank and the PIT file into the PIT blank
e) make sure you have selected the checkboxes in the image
f) start your phone by holding volume-down+home+power
g) when you see the yellow android digging plug your phone into your computer (you may need the samsung drivers)
h) wait for odin to detect your phone (the first box under ID:COM will turn yellow and list the com-port that your phone is connected to)
i) hit start, wait about 3 minutes, you will see the progress bar update every 5-10 seconds
j) it will auto reboot and finish the installation
To root your phone I followed the instructions on this chinese thread (use google chrome to get an instant translation):
ibbs.91.com/thread-53590-1-1. html
DUDE!!!
I think i got some good news.
I have the same problem with my new S2 bought in China, no Android market. I've been searching all around the web to try to fix it.
It is still not working for me, but i got a little bit farther though.
I find the hint here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351283
So what i did and what you can try is:
1) Install GoogleServicesFramework.apk
This seems to be the issue, as when you install it you can see the permissions Google requires, and pretty much says the can access ALL the data in your phone. (It would explain the censorship)
2) Install Android Market with any .apk you can find
3) Launch Android Market
The change for me is i can now input my account login. But it still fails connecting to google to actually login. Maybe because i'm still in china and it blocks the connection.
Could any one try this outside china and tell me if it works?
Cheers
EDIT:
By connecting my APN and Wifi (instead of wifi alone) i managed to finally loggin. I HOW NOW ACCESS TO ANDROID MARKET !!!
But not so fast. I have access to the market, but i get an error when downloading an app. So it is still not working, but getting closer. I sent an e-mail to google see if they can fix this (seems my account and my device are still not linked). Waiting for the reply...
Alright it's working now !!!
After exchanging a couple e-mail with google, i managed to download some apps.
I've been testing it for a couple hours now, works like a charm.

Turn Your ROM Into A .Torrent

Why use a crappy website to host your ROM when you can create a .torrent from it instead and allow it to be seeded by numerous sources so it stays active?
Here is how I create .torrent files with Windows...
1) Download and install the 2.0.3 version of uTorrent.
2) Open uTorrent after it installs and set it up. I would recommend NOT updating to the latest version.
3) Click the icon with the magic wand on it to create a .torrent.
4) I would suggest creating a folder with the name of your ROM then place the ROM .zip into that folder.
5) Click on the ADD DIRECTORY button and select the folder you created with the ROM .zip in it.
6) Use these trackers with line breaks between them...
udp://tracker.ccc.de:80
udp://tracker.istole.it:80
udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80
udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80
7) Click the CREATE AND SAVE AS... button and name the .torrent preferably with the folder name you used.
8) Leave your uTorrent on so you (Seed) can share your ROM with people (Peers). It is nice if those peers leave their .torrent program on so they can seed as well. The more seeders the better!
9) Upload the .torrent file of your ROM to some website and post the link to the .torrent in your ROM post.
Now people can download it with whatever .torrent program they use and get it on their phone.
Attached are a couple of .torrents to get either Liquid or RedHead for the Droid Bionic...

I think torrents are a great options they really are!
The developers would only have to post the torrent for the newest version, it would take no more work then uploading it to a site and posting

Fragmentation is not an issue especially when the user's torrent client is set to pre-allocate space. Users with older versions of the ROM would hopefully be wise enough to figure out the developer has released a newer version especially if the user is smart enough to check the official ROM thread for updates and the developer takes the few seconds of time needed to update the link/attachment for the torrent.

EXACTLY! And with hopefully hundreds of users sharing the ROM via torrent, the ROM will never be unavailable due to website problems.
Having the ROM on torrent would be so much more helpful in downloading. Everyone would be able to seed it =P

[TRICK]Resume ANY Broken Download in Opera Mini

Amazing Trick Requirement
*Android Device
*Opera Mini (It was only tested on Opera Mini but you can try on Opera Mobile and see if it works)
*File Manager(any)
What does the trick do?
I was derping around with my mobile
and found an amazing download. When I clicked on Download, I realised, oh BEEP
I was in Opera Mini, one of the worst download manager. One time your download breaks, it can't be resumed. I crossed my fingers and then hoped it does not fail. But it failed at 47 mb out of 50 mb
Fuuuuuuuuuu......
But then, I was so down, I decided that Challenge Accepted
I fiddled around and SUCCESS, I found out a way you can resume ANY broken download, even if you reboot your phone

For finding this trick(I hereby take no responsibility of your amazing data getting wasted trying or using this trick or your precious download failing or your device not able to run Bad Piggies or Asphalt 7 or Temple Run being laggy or IMEI loosing or Graphical Glitches or Devices bricking, blah)
Instructions:-
Read very carefully
1. Download anything IN OPERA MINI and wait it to fail (Here, we assume you downloading iamareebjamal.zip)
2. Once it is failed, DON'T CLICK ON RETRY and go to any file manager and to path of that file and rename it to whatever you like (eg: iamareebjamal2.zip)
3. Go again to Opera Mini and click on RETRY now.
4. As soon as it shows 0.1 mb downloaded, PAUSE it.
5. Go again to File Manager and you may see two files, first one which you recently renamed and new download file of approx 0.1 mb(or of size it was when you PAUSED it) [Paused file will have original download name such as iamareebjamal.zip]
6. Rename new file to whatever you want and rename the previously failed download to its original name [iamareebjamal.zip(paused download) -> whatever.zip] [iamareebjamal2.zip -> iamareebjamal.zip]
7. Go back to Opera Mini and resume the download. Download will RESUME from WHERE IT WAS FAILED. (f yeah) [Make sure Opera Mini isn't killed in renaming process as you may have to redo the whole process if it does]
8. Enjoy
This colourful and easy to understand guide was made on mobile using the individual typing of BB CODES by hands of OP
Please understand how difficult it is to do it on mobile by trying it sometime

[PC][Android] Bundle: OpenSource Software Repository for new Dev's

Hello Everyone,
I am back with new software!!!
Here it is:
I just finished making version 1 of my new Software Repository for Android.(Like Google Play but WAY cheaper ) Or Even sorta like Cydia for Android?
Well long story short this allows developers to host their software without the need to pay Google or another source. it is very simple to use.
What works as of July 11 2013:
> Render Description and Name of the Application
> Allow user to download the application directly.
What I am working on now:
> Render Screenshots and Icons
> Spiffy up the UI to make it look neater.
> Finish the Help screen for all the noobs
How to use the Phone Client on the Default repo ("http://urgero.org/repo")
1.Install the APK in the zip file on the download page.
2. Run the app.
3. It will error out saying cannot connect. This is normal for the first run as the application is just wrote the settings file to the SDCard.
4. Save settings.
5. goto the main screen and Hit refresh.
That's all for now, the applications in the default repository are written by me. (Except AdAway!)
Download: Click Here to Download
New Update again! Version 0.3A released fixing even more bugs!!!
Please download again if you have already downloaded it.

[Q] Download Manager

I am looking for a download manager for my Nexus 5 Phone running on Mahdi ROM and Code Blue Kernel. When I download file from Chrome and/or mozila the file is downloaded at very slow speed. So, is there any download manager (Best Ones), which I can use to download files. Most of the times the files are ROMS (Zips) and/or MP3 songs. I did tried all Download Managers in Play Store, but none of them is good and are very-very complex.

Download managers won't magically increase your download speed. Don't even bother.
But, I have seen the increase in speed when I manually Copy and Paste the link in some of the available download managers. So, some magic is there for sure.

A "download manager" is nothing more than something that manages downloads, it isn't going to really affect your download speed in any way. If your connection has a certain download speed, nothing will increase that. No such magic.

I use ADM. Works fine for me. I prefer this to the stock downloader.
Hope this helps!
As @Lethargy said download managers do not increase your DL Speed. Download Managers only provide a better interface to sort active downloads find previously downloaded files. That's all. I suggest you do a speed test to really make sure the speed at which you download files match your actual speed. You could be experiencing network congestion. Also if you are downloading from a free file hosting site it probably throttles your speed to promote it's premium service. Btw Don't ever buy into one of these. There are plenty of free alternatives that don't have any limitations like Mediafire
Only reason I use a download manager is coz I can pause and resume a download

Some custom ROMs have that function added to the AOSP DownloadProvider (commit is usually taken from CM).
