Hello everyone,
I have a question about a VW Sahran steering wheel. I can intercept the keycodes for the left keys but not the ones on the right side.
The left keys are for multimedia control, i.e. volume, etc. On the right side are the buttons to control the board computer.
I would like to intercept the keys and perform actions on them. The signals should not be forwarded to the board computer. Is this even possible?
I am a software developer and already have experience with Android development and first experiences with the Canbus.
My goal is to make my own kind of board computer that I can control with these keys. With the "Mute" button I would want to switch between both board computers. So that I can begin at all, I would have to know first if it could go at all.
Regards
Micha
Moved your post in a ROM thread to it's own thread in q&a so that you have a better chance of having someone help!

Hi, so im trying to set up my Playstation 3 Controller for my Samsung Galaxy Tab running 2.3.6 with the required bluetooth protocol. So far i've managed to get him to move around by setting the left analog as Dpad's:
Analog-up: Dpad up.
Analog-down: Dpad down.
Analog-left: Dpad left.
Analog-right: Dpad right.
I can reload by setting R2 as 7.
I can select items/open doors by setting

I can shoot by selecting L2 as 8 (for some reason R1 won't work.)
Is there anyone there know how to map the rigth analog stick? Tried to map the analog to the touch profiles, but that didn't work. Or it's just me that dosen't know how to do it ^^
Hope you other guys enjoy this game as much as i do!

Hi guys,
I introduce you my 2 apks!!so far made then in b4a...hope you find them useful!!!
the first one is aZephyr:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
aZephyr is an apk that willl make you forget your tablet or smartPhone buttons
with just 3 simple gesture!!
1º)Swipe Up from bottom of your android handle to simulate HOME button
2º)Swipe Up from bottom and then Down till the botton to simulate the POWER buttton(This require Admin Privileges)
3º)Long Press at the bottom edge of your handle to SHOW RECENTS APKS
So if you have a defective button, or you want to reserve them as new, or simply because it is much easier to use only gesture this is your aplication
Once the Aplication it is installed you can also view a video to see how it works
This is the DEMO version limited to 500 times
For less than a beer you can have the INFINITE version-
Go and find it on the PLAYSTORE (newbies do not have right to put the links!!:angel
I've seen plenty of people pull out their radios and replace them with a tablet; usually a Nexus 7 or similar, as that easily fits into the Double DIN slot most cars have. but that only takes over radio duty. I was wondering if anyone has tried replacing the climate controls as well.

I was thinking since the Radio & A/C cluster is so large, and (for me, anyway) wastes so much space, why not put a large tablet in there, it could probably take a 10" (maybe 12") screen. then the climate buttons and knobs could probably be replaced with an arduino setup.
I haven't even started doing this yet, I was wondering if anyone else had tried this or not
So i searched but could only find threads without any responses.
On the px6 mtcx head units how do I know enable separate controls for different types of volumes? I.e. On stock Android you can set different volume levels for media/notifications/alarms etc. But i can't on my head unit
This causes an issues with controlling the volume of my navigation app. The sound output from the app is loud compared to the music playback. There is a setting inside the app to change the volume but it is linked to the notification volume setting in Android and thus does nothing on my head unit.
Do either of the main custom roms enable your maybe?
Some head units have volume controls for each item you have. If yours has this then you will find it in FACTORY SETTINGS.

Does anyone know if I can connect these to the headunit somehow?
If so, how please?
Yes, normally the center unit is the receptor, in your unit you should have KEY1 and KEY2 wires, the central unit must be hoocked there, and then your buttons will be available in the SWC programmable section !
There can be issues if your car uses the Canbus for SWC commands. Usually, if your car has Canbus and the SWC uses the canbus, then the buttons are not reprogrammable. If your buttons are resistive, then it may be possible to make some hardware/wiring changes so you can use one of these modules.
You'll need more details about your car, such as schematics, whatever type of car you have. You haven't mentioned it.
If someone else has done this before on your specific vehicle, that would be another/the best way of knowing it could work.
