Is there anyone who can make volte roms for honor - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

As honor is spreading all over the world in India also it is spreading its large variety of smartphones and we use voLTE as in our primary sim because we all are jio users and many Vodafone users Idea users are also there to use volte but the honor is the only brand who is not making volte ROMs after being a China company so I please request any developer who can make volte ROMs for us because we are in need of that thank you which gives stock experience

Well I won't get my hopes up. VoLTE is difficult because in the countries where the Developer lives, VoLTE isn't available and/or costs money. If you want some developer (@haky86) to actively work on VoLTE make a donation. Other than that, it's only for Indian Users. Lastly, with Huawei's decision to stop providing bootloader unlock codes the development for Honor and Huawei devices is dead. And no developer is Keen to spend time and money working on a feature that will only affect a few users at best.

Hii Guys,
Couple of days back I had word with Moto Customer Care regarding enabling of Volte update for Moto Turbo.
I will share a part of the chat transcript -
Raghavendra: I understand that you want to know about the VOLTE option in your device. Am I right ?
Mohit Punjabi: Yes....all the devices are getting the updates
Or a patch.
Raghavendra: I am sorry to say that as of now the VOLTE is not available in your device.
Raghavendra: We are collecting the feedback from our customers regarding this feature
Raghavendra: I personally take ownership of your concern and will share your words as a feedback.
Mohit Punjabi: Please do it...as Volte is the need of the day
Raghavendra: I agree with you and understand hour level of discomfort.
Raghavendra: I will surely forward your words to our team.
Raghavendra: Once we get any official information regarding this option we will update in our site.
Raghavendra: Please check through our website Motorola.in for update information.
Mohit Punjabi: Thanks....is Nougat expected for Moto Turbo ?
Raghavendra: As per our information the N update will not get to Moto Turbo device.
Mohit Punjabi: Ohh thats sad....the hardware is capable enough to run Android N
Raghavendra: Due to hardware compatibility itself Motorola unable to send N update to this device.
Raghavendra: Apart from that, Is there anything else I may assist you with?
Mohit Punjabi: Nevertheless.... keeping Android N aside...my main concern is Volte update. Atleast provide a Volte support to this device.
Raghavendra: I will surely forward your words to our team.
One positive reply I got is they are collecting feedback of the users for this feature. So guys request you'll to just send email or chat with the Moto CC in regard to enabling of Volte.

Mate 9 development

Hello everyone,
I am coming from Samsung phones , Xiaomi, HTC and there have been many custom ROM's and development and everything was FREE , and I find Mate 9 forum very empty and and even those who developed something ask for money and very complicated procedures, why is this happening in huawei forums?
I plan to sell my Mighty Mate 9 because can't seem to find support in forums or everywhere else !
What do you think will this forum change or it will be this way , I am new to huawei and I don't know much about this...
Sent from my MHA-AL00 using Tapatalk
Obviously should have done research before investing into the mate 9.
There is forums for previous devices that would have given you the information about the modding community with Huawei.
You don't buy Huawei and other manufacturers not listed above for the modding community.
The funkyhuawei stuff is only the dev. He invest his time and pays for the server's out of his own pocket. Nothing wrong with asking for donation. This is not samsung, HTC etc where things are widely available and 100s of devs jumping on board.
Most of these type of niche devices are better supported by dev community overseas.
Now since this is the first official mate for the usa things might happen with a little patience.
USA sales has just started! which is a good thing for future development... Hopefully we will see what's cooking!

Can't be much different, especially in comparison to Xiaomi. Xiaomi doesn't release source until the device is 6-12mo old = no development for newer devices.

Weak development for the 6x?

Just picked up my new Honor 6x(BLN-L24) from Best Buy because I'm tired of only having 2GB RAM on my Honor 5x. Unfortunately I didn't come here before ordering because if I had I would have noticed only a fraction of dev support compared to what is available for the 5x, and I would have not purchased the 6x.
Anyway, I tried flashing HassanMirza01's LineageOS 14.1 but after letting it sit 3 times on animated boot logo screen for over 30 minutes each time I wiped everything and read through the rest of the ROMs in the dev section. Either the ROMs have currently reported install problems, or in the case of all Meticulus ROMs the download links are gone. None seem to be working correctly or near stable for daily use unless I'm missing something here.
At this point I'm following the dload method to go back to latest stock and honestly thinking about just returning the phone to Best Buy. It's quite disappointing seeing such a small amount of support for it. Is that because there is something wrong or difficult with this phone when it comes to development?
The weak development is because Huawei/Honor hasn't released source code yet (I guess, but I've seen a link for my BLL-L23 source code some time ago).
A thing I don't like about H6X devs is that lately they have (strangely) "spammed" their ports from other Huawei devices, maybe without improving the ported codes. I mean, about 6 ROMs in just a few days, with the same ported S.C... That's suspicious
But, since I'm not a dev (sad reaction only) I can't judge their work without considering all the variables involved into their work.
I guess all this happened because of the unreleased S.C, but I'm confident this has a near end.
Cheers to all devs btw, ur work is really appreciated
I can't even return to stock. I tried the dload method, and then I tried the full return to stock where I fastboot flash boot/recovery/system and then dload the update.app. Keeps saying Software install failed! on the part where I do vol+/vol-/pwr and try the dload flash of update.app.
Have I completely bricked this phone?

You live in Missouri? The Honor 5x is a Qualcom Snapdragon device and that chipset has plenty of official support from LineageOS. The Honor 6x is a Kirin 655 device and has absolutely NO official support what soever. You asked if there is "something wrong or difficult with this phone when it comes to development". Yes there is and for the same reason that it will NEVER had any official support from custom ROMs like Lineage: no source code.
So, if you bought your Honor 6x with expectation that your "custom rom experience" would be the same as your 5x, I'm afraid that you probably made a mistake.
As for "Where are the download links?". I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say that, if you can not find them, then it's probably for the best.
Huawei/Honor should do something related to Kirrin processor, considering their massive advertisements on XDA- they're not caring any development

I do not know the 'deal' that Huawei/Honor has with XDA but it seems likely to me that Huawei/Honor pays XDA to help make Huawei/Honor devices more popular by sponsoring Honor branded contests and giving away phones to 'openkirin'. I can not say for certain but I don't think that Huawei/Honor cares about 'custom ROM' development at all. It is just a vehicle, by which, XDA can make Huawei/Honor devices more popular, help increase sales and help them build their brand.

These ROMs came about because I decided to bring up my code base to operate on EMUI 5. While I was doing that I noticed the way Huawei does things in an abstract way so that the same code base can be used to build ROMs for many devices. I decided to do things in a similar way. In doing so, other quickly found out that this ROM runs on all hi6250 devices. However it is true that I do not own an Honor 6x and where this device differs from the devices that I do own, you come in. If you help me help you I might be able to fix issues. If not, well ... the choice is yours ...

Yeah absolutely- thats d strategy
But for any device to appeal for XDA public - it should have impressive development or promising atmosphere(releasing sources, support etc)
Advertisements on XDA gonna do more harm than good if they have nill dev support as every user who purchases phone seeing ad on XDA hoping good development like OP would badly be disappointed and it hurts brand value indirectly. Basically majority phones which get advertised on XDA has excellent dev support already like One plus. Huawei is missing this point.

I am not a "business expert" and I willing to bet that you are not either. We have no idea what the nature of the business relationship is, with Huawei and it's hardware partners such as Hisilicon. Perhaps Huawei is unable to be more forth coming with its source code because of agreements they have with Hisilicon. Perhaps, Hisilicon, being relatively new to the market-place has decided that keeping their userspace code closed is in their best interest, in the face of older companies like Qualcom. Who knows? I think that companies do things by the numbers and if having "good development at XDA" could produce bigger profits for them, I'm sure they would encourage it. I willing to bet that 'custom ROM' development's impact on Huawei's bottom line is negligible. XDA is more useful to them for helping to spread the word about the brand. Also, XDA also generates revenue by advertising and although it is an unfortunate fact. When a ROM is running perfectly their is less reason to come here and post. When a ROM is half working and has lots of bugs, ppl are checking constantly while waiting for bugs to get fixes. If a ROM works well, then you just flash it and go on. No reason to stick around here....
I'm just spit balling anyway.... I could be all wrong...

Yep, about 20 minutes from Springfield. :good:
So with Kirin, is it that they just haven't opensourced what you devs need? Has there been any 'official' discussion on that from them that would give any hope towards easier development
I didn't see links in your rom threads, and your threads don't have the Downloads tab on them like other rom threads do. Guessing you're hosting the files directly from your website you have linked in your threads?

I like to think I've done pretty well despite any lack of resources from Huawei. On the devices I own, to me at least, my ROMs are full daily drivers. Perhaps they are not perfect but without source it was never gonna be but, afaict the bugs are minor. I have never heard anything from Huawei on publishing their source. They publish their GPL stuff which is more than some companies do. I will admit that my ROMs probably run better on the P9 Lite and the P10 Lite because I own those devices and when they have problems, I can get information personally. Something I can't do for devices I don't own.

VoLTE Developement

I decided to start this thread in hopes of getting a better understanding from developers as to why VoLTE support is nearly non existent in custom roms. As I flash roms to keep aging phones relevant, I do a lot of research and see a tremendous amount of people asking if the rom supports VoLTE. Invariably the answer is no. Is it impossible or so tedious and unrewarding a task for developers to include VoLTE support that they are unable or unwilling to include this functionality?
I, and undoubtedly other android phone modders , have a hearing issues. I actually have a condition known as 'Otosclerosis' . The VoLTE fidelity is surprisingly effective in helping voices sound clearer. Now this is not a play for sympathy, as I have numerous phones and my daily driver all have VoLTE working perfectly. This is more about either raising awareness at the developer level as to the growing frustration in the community at the loss of VoLTE or understanding why VoLTE falls out of a custom rom. When I try to enjoy the fantastic efforts you all put out, in my situation, the greatest, fastest, slickest rom in the world will never be unacceptable, simply because there is no VoLTE. I suspect others end up in the same situation.
I hope you all find the spirit of this thread meaningful and also hope it will create a dialogue.
Thanks.

Well the honest answer is, most people posting roms just simply aren't devs.
The better answer is, there are a lot of carriers, there are lot of variables involved and there simply isn't relevant information from users to solve the issues.
Then there's ims, qmi, rcs, telephony, telephony-ext and all the Carrier<insert word here>.apks. Then there's CAF vs aosp in regards to ims and etc. This is not to mention device specific ims and props like huawei has.
Simply put, it isn't worth the time nor effort for any actual dev to collect the necessary amount of information to come up with a viable fix given the above abstraction across devices.

I just fail to understand one thing. Why do carriers come into the picture? For example, I buy an unlocked OnePlus from USA and use it in India on VoLTE as soon as I get a SIM card. I guess the same goes with all the manufacturers selling their phones globally. Is my understanding wrong?

OEM / bootloader unlock , we gotta standup for our selves.

Brothers, we need to standup for ourselves and stop this ***** madness.
1. I've sent Huawei many emails, it obviously didn't help.
2. If we start like a mass petition or class action or some other case together, we might stand a chance. Remember we're not the only ones with locked bootloader. / Grayed out OEM unlock in developing settings. The mate 20 pro users and possibly other models have the same issue. We have to team up.
Perhaps we can make an email format here that we copy paste and send to hauwei each of us individually. They would be spammed with say 1 million emails.
3. We have paid allot for this device , an android device should be open and customizable. There is absolutely no valid reason to lock down an android device, unless you as smartphone brand try to protect your spyware .
Anyway are you with me brothers ? Let's get the full potential for the hardware that we paid for. Huawei needs to start offering the bootloader codes again and enable OEM unlock. Period. Other resolutions are not acceptable.

I guess 99,5 % of the users don`t care about root. So it will most probably not happen. Nokia also will not provide help to unlock the bootloader as most other OEMS. Get a Samsung , Xiaomi, OnePlus or Pixel phone if you want root. You buy a phone as is, not how you want it to be.
I do not agree with your mindset. That's a typical beta give up mentality.. no offense.
Huawei used to provide the unlock service service before, and now suddenly it stopped doing so. It can't go without consequences..
I love the hardware and the big screen, there are no better alternatives at the moment.
That 99% of the people doesn't want root, it doesn't mean that the remaining 1% is wrong or need to be neglected. If 1% of the users team up we would have 200.000 plus supporters that can show their voice and that can make this happen.
I am in
Count me in too!! This insolence cannot go unpunished.
Not to play spoilsport but your suggestion would work if indeed a million people request for it. From what I understand, the Chinese version of the Huawei phones can be unlocked without issues. Only the international version has this issue. Considering that the majority of the phones sold would be Chinese (which is their main market) who are not affected and accounting for a minuscule part of the phones they sell for the global audience are that interested in rooting, getting them to do anything has a low probability. Having said that, if root is so critical for anyone, the Chinese version is always an option. Most of the issues are resolved related to the Chinese specific devices

It pains me in the heart to see where this android open community is heading. It kinda goes against my principles to pay 18 usd for an update. This is unseen with any android device I had before . Users/devs just try to help each other and make stuff public..
I hope this changes soon and that these methods are made public, instead of commercialized by 3d parties. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
P.S. MODS Please do not delete this post, It is a legitimate discussion, no need to go and censor posts on XDA, regardless of your affiliation with any third party company, users should be able to discuss their thoughts in here
