A-MEDIA Auto (1024x600 S), 1GB Ram, Cortex A9 extremely slow : what ROM can I use? - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi, i've an extremely slow A-MEDIA Auto (1024x600 S), 1GB Ram, Cortex A9 in my Mercedes..i can't even use Spotify or Amazon Music...too slow to load.
Android version is something like 5.1. Is there a very light rom to use to upgrade my android head unit?
I don't want to brick it....My only need is to use Spotify and keep the functionality of the rear cam. Thanks a lot.

same HERE
i need upgrade too

I add some more info...i don't know if I can upgrade with malaysk Rom
Versione MCU:
MTCD_KD_V1.82_1
Aug 26 2016 09:28:58
Versione di Android:
5.1.1
Versione kernel:
3.0.101+
[email protected] #66

Numero build:
rk3188-userdebug 05092016.18:26:56

This might be what your looking for, I would look into getting Hal9k ROM instead of Malaysk roms due to the use of xposed which will probably slow it down again. Hal9k still has customization's over the stock but doesnt have xposed.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...opment/rom-hal9k-mod-mtcd-head-units-t3623982
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...rom-hal9k-mod-2-mtcd-mtce-head-units-t3741583

you are also running on an old MCU version, today i have updated mine from MTCD_KSP v2.09_1 to MTCE_KSP v2.89_c1 and at first glance it seems to improve performance.

Hi! I'm here again....I didn't upgrade because I see that the app A2DP app (already installed in my a media car audio) solves my problem in a fast and fantastic way : I installed Amazon Music in my cell, connected via bluetooth with the MTCD unit and then i can play all the song I want using the cell and listening with my car sound systems. Everything is fast and i can then bypass the slow mtcd problem.

Hi. I just read your post. I have the same device here. It's extremely slow. I got to my car, engine is on and until I get GoogleMaps working it takes almost forever. Delays and all these. Until I'm able to input street's name or whatever.
Did you solve the problem? I'm thinking how exactly I could install new ROM or whatever on this device. I'm not an expert, far away from it. Is there a really good tutorial (video maybe) how to install something new (when the device is already in the car) for noobs like me?
I'd appreciate it very much! Thanks and peace!

Just a short question about this unit: Does anybody kno the selling name of the radio? Starts with ES
Thanks a lot

A-Media Auto (1024x600)
Hi I have a A-media Auto (1040x60) with a 40gb attached. I’ve plugged in a 120gb SDD & it doesn’t automatically pick it up like the 40gb. You have to manually find the storage & click on what you want & it doesn’t pick up where you left off if you turn off the ignition. Frustrating, any help would be grateful.

Hello guys
Does anybody know if on the head unit A-MEDIA AUTO 1024x600 Android version 6.0.1 - MTVF-KGL-V2.6.0.1
It is possible to fit the reversing camera and which model could be suitable?
I have bought WiFi between the camera and the front unit but I don’t know if I can fit and in case which connector to plug?
Thanks a lot.

Hi I have the same brand but the 2013 model TD818ASD version. It runs on 2.3.5 just wondering if you had any further developments with upgrading ? By the way what Root did you use. Don't want to install the wrong version.

Sorry for my late answer
Yes my tablet is rooted, used superoneclick, no problem

Thanks for that. I take it you haven't had any success in upgrading to ICS

No, I have searched in all the forums, Telechips.com has a new kernel 3.0.8 and source for ICE out on open source, but I'm not a programmer, so I do not know how to compile it. Have also tried all the other Chinese brands (Erisin and so on), which is the same type as ours, but no luck!

No, I have no problems, my tablet and main unit works perfectly. Have a little trouble getting a 4G dongle to work, possibly because I do not have a USB-OTG cable (Have ordered it!) so hopefully it will works too

I got the 3G dongle working, when I searched around most 4G ones don't say they are compatible with Android systems. Didn't want to risk it. I'm guessing my reboot problems are to do with O.S 2.3.5 since yours is the older stable one. By the way try update your IGO to the latest one. The one with the Stereo has old maps so needs updating.
If developers interested in cooking a Rom for this unit please let me know. Wouldn't mind paying to upgrade to ICS or Jellybean.

Hi
Which 3G modem are you using??, I do not assume that I get my 4G modem to work, I have tried with PPP Widget, and it finds the modem, but can complete setup
I have another problem my setting for mobile network can not be activated, it is not available as Wifi? what I mean is that I can not get in and ajust the APN settings, have you had any problems with that?

Mine is the Huawei WCDMA E1750 3G pretty much worked straight away no problems with APN settings, all you have to do is google your network provider APN Android settings you just enter it in, but if you can't even access the APN settings means your dongle isn't supported. You have to remember this is Gingerbread OS so might not be updated with 4G dongles.
Hi
Thanks for your help, my 4G modem is a Huawei E3276, this is the modem, that my provider use as standard equipment. I think I would go for the same modem as you use!!!

Hello
Have you been upgraded to ICE?, I have searched but can`t find any updates. has solved my 3G dongle problem, it was my USB OTG cable.
Hi,
I have the Xtrons Td605a edition. I am checking the web if there is any costom rom for updating also.
Btw, my GPS program cannot see the GPS input even it is connected to the seattlelites. Did you guys encounter any problems like this?
Hi
I have a XTRONS TD718A, and use TOMTOM as GPS program. I have no problem connecting to the satellites!!! nor problems when I use Google Maps online.
As you can read in this thread and other threads, it`s difficult to find a new ROM to our system, XTRONS will not do anything to help, for them it is a clean business, where a update of android is a potential drop in sales.
I have no problems with the GPS locking on and working with Tomtom, IGO and Google maps. As basmand says updates is pretty much what you have. Unless someone can figure how to cook roms for our devices we pretty much have to use this. Any of you gone on xtrons forums you can see they won't support updates, even though there is a option in the menu to update through SD card or internal memory.
Hi
Has been on Xtrons forums and sent PM to Xtrons.com, just get the answer, that they do not support updates, as written by Kidd78 "Xtrons" is not an option!!!!!!!!!
Hey basmand is your 4G dongle showing 3G on the tablet or H or H+ ?? Can't seem to get H at all
Hi
SORRY my fault, I am not using my HUAWEI 3276 4G dongle for the present, have had trouble getting it to work, using an old 3G modem HUAWEI 1752, It only shows 3G, and my max download speed is approx. 7.5 MBPS. (tested when i am driving), but I'm working on getting my 4G dongle up and running, unfortunately I live in the countryside, where there not is a constant 4G coverage.
My device sees the GPS in Google Maps but it does not received the longitude and latitude in a special Navigation program for Cyprus ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyprusgiscenter.cyprusonroad&hl=en )
I go into the menu of the program and I go to its signal settings. In the radar thing, it shows all of the seattelites and connections, but the data never reaches the app. It is really frustrating...
GPS works in Google Maps and other programs but the navigation that comes with it does not have Cyprus on it, IGO I tried to download but it is not compatible, and google navigation is not in my country yet...
Xtrons must at least give us root access...

[CAR AUDIO] XTRONS TD620A - 6.2” Android HD w/ Multi-touch

Just bought and installed this 2-DIN headunit! So awesome to finally have Android in the dash. So far it seems great.
LIKES:
Multi-touch is a nice touch
Able to install my own apks without connecting to the Play Store
Finally get to use Live Wallpapers without worrying about battery drain
Customizability
Built in fan
DISLIKES:
Start up time kinda sucks
Wifi seems to trip out when downloading via phone tether
Ipod icon in the dock (how clueless is that?? Android and Apple aren't friends)
*Actually to be honest, I kinda understand it. A lot of people use their ipods/iphones to listen to their music. My major gripe about this though is that- I CAN'T GET RID OF IT! I don't want an Ipod app on my Android. I would like to figure out how to get rid of it. I'd much rather put my bluetooth icon in the doc.
So far I've installed Skype, Space Colony Live Wallpaper, Maps With Me, and RecForge Lite. I haven't tried TB or Root Explorer yet, as I don't have root access (yet!). It comes preinstalled with Gmail, Email, Angry Birds Rio, Radio (the FM Radio app), EZ File Explorer and several other apps. It runs really smooth for the most part.
Anyone else have this unit yet? Anyone tried rooting it yet? Please share your experience in this thread.
Just for reference, the stock system versions are as follows:
CPU Information
Freescale i.MX53
RAM Information
512M DDR3 800
Android Version
2.3.7
MCU Version
2.10.9-1-10-1
System Version
2.20.21
DVD Version
2.13.11-1200wb
What is interesting is I was able to access my root directory and files without rooting my device. However, when I checked with Root Checker Basic, it said my device was not rooted. And I'm unable to mount R/W. I was able to copy the system/app folder with no problem though. Is this typical of non-rooted devices?

So far I'm pretty happy with it. The start-up time is a little slow, but other than that, it does pretty much everything I want it to do. I was able to install a different launcher that's more customizable and more to my taste. I've been able to connect to internet and Gmail and the playstore without any problem. I haven't had any problem installing apps (except for when I was intentionally trying to install apps that I knew wouldn't work... ie. Samsung apps). No major complaints. Overall a great purchase!

I just purchased this unit off Newegg and I'm really looking forward to seeing what it can do. I was curious if you ever got root access worked out? I would love to see this get some more attention from devs and really show what android in-dash is capable of!

Got mine installed few days ago. So far so good. Boot time is around 45sec, not a really big problem for me as i do drive more then one min every trip. The default audio player sucks. The unit always runs the default player automatically at the beginning. Every time you have to stop the music b4 you switch to other player. Kinda annoying.
question
I bought the same model XTRONS. I have a question I have downloaded the launcher? Is there any other Bluetooth dial? Because the original is dramatic.

anyone manage to update firmware or root this unit? thinking of getting one.

General Joying Android 8.1 Intel Airmont eight-core 1.8GHz SC9853i (4GB RAM, 32GB flash)

I just found new kind of devices on Joyings website and did not yet find any posts about it.
The Android 8.1 based devices are again Intel based, no Rockchip PX5 anymore.
CPU: Intel Airmont eight-core 1.8GHz SC9853i
RAM: LPDDR4 4GB
Flash: Samsung 32GB
Several display sizes are available, all still with the known 1024x600 resolution.
The CPU is an outcome of a cooperation by Intel and Speadtrum (see https://www.anandtech.com/show/12592/intels-last-atom-in-smartphones-a-2018-benchmark),
and another Atom 64-bit architecture spinoff (see https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/microarchitectures/airmont).
The GPU is a dual core Arm Mali-T820 GPU.
Anyone that had a chance to get hands on such a device and could make a comparision to the current PX5 based devices?
EDITs:
How to root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../howto-root-joying-sc9853i-head-unit-t3915530

No Android Auto does not work. At least the way its supposed to. You can install it on the unit if you have WiFi tether, but that defeats the point. Also the EasyConnected app will not work. Joying said that they were working on getting Android Auto working, so maybe in the next update.
My wife has a PX5 and I had the SoFIA model. This one is much faster. It still has problems like the WiFi randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. Only 1 SD card slot and it has randomly disconnected at times as well.

I was faced with this issue as well. The play store would only show Poweramp v2 so I searched the Poweramp forums and it turns out that Intel (x86) hardware is only supported by v2 and support was dropped in v3 and would only support ARM hardware.
However, I posted a question on the forum which you can see here: https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/16541-intel-based-car-head-unit/ and as you can see I have got it working although I'm still not sure why.
In summary, just uninstall v2, download the v3 apk from here https://powerampapp.com/download-poweramp/ and install it and it should run fine. Then just install the unlocker from the play store as normal (assuming you have the paid version) and it works fine. I'm now running Poweramp v3 on my Intel based Joying unit with no issues whatsoever. Just remember to turn off auto update for Poweramp in the play store otherwise I think it will 'upgrade' it to v2 again.
As I said though, I really don't know how it's working as others have said that they cannot get it to run at all on other Intel based hardware.
Hope this works for you.

I'm afraid I have no idea regarding the volume issue. It's not something I've noticed but I may just be anaware of it. Where are you trying to set the volume, on the main unit volume buttons or somewhere in Poweramp itself.

Launcher and apps do not run smoothly.
Tried solutions:

New Hal9k v4.0.2 installed
Problem still exists.

That's right.
I also see this especially with the I-Bus App.
But only as soon as graphics are in play.
Also in the normal launcher.
But as soon as you are in the settings, everything goes smoothly.
As soon as a graphic is shown again, it stops again.
I have the same issue too. is there any solution?
problem in the Google app. Turn the Google app back to the old version. don't update again.

the px6 has Dual cortex-a72 + Quad cortex-a53 on it´s Board.
This is a Chipset introduced in 2016. Antutu Benchmark should be around 70k - 80k Points. This is very slow, so i think it´s would be Time for Chinese Factorys building new Android Radios with newer Chipsets...
A fix:
Maps is a notoriously heavy app. But the reason it lags on px6 is more than that alone. You can make it nearly lag-free through 2 changes:
1. Use the 32-bit (armeabi-v7a) nodpi apk. The rk3399 supports 64 bit (arm64-v8a) but it runs substantially slower to the 32-bit of the same release for some reason.
2. Downgrade a bit. How much you're willing to Downgrade is dependent on your preference, but the older releases all still work. Unfortunately I like the new versions more so I only rolled back to 10.55.2, but even that alone was a significant improvement over the latest release.
I'm disappointed that this is a problem when my $100 Umidigi phone can run maps more smoothly that the $350 head unit, but these two options make it good enough.
Also a note for Spotify PX6 users: use Tasker/Automate to emulate a touch on the album art every time the app is started to effectively start it in player mode instead of browsing.

No issue with maps on PX5 with sink/fan on Hal3/ Android 8.1, torque and Spotify all running. Have you checked for CPU thermal throttling?
Also, I have kernel auditior setting performance governor at boot.

If Android Auto is what you want, buy an official android auto unit, these are not. With these Chinese origin head units, either be happy running full Android apps on the HU or forever chase fixes as Google releases updates
