Gmail led notifications not working anymore (since nougat update?) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Since nougat I'm not getting any more led notifications anymore for gmail. For all other apps (whatsapp, snapchat, SMS,...) it does work.
I have tried changing multiple settings: changing the priority, playing with both the inapp gmail settings and the android(samsung) notification settings,... I just can't get it to work.
Any fixes?

Did you update manually or via an OTA?
Because this is one of the symptoms of running the wrong bootloader version for Nougat normally caused by flashing a ROM without updating the bootloader, another symptom is vibration doesn't work.

LED problem after 4.1.2 update

Hoping for some assistance in solving an annoying problem. After updating my rooted XT926 to 4.1.2 last week, I have noticed strange behavior from the LED notification light. I have noticed this on 3rd party apps (such as Tweetcaster, Go SMS Pro, Enhanced Email) as well as stock apps (such as Gmail and the native SMS app). When I get a new text message, email, whatever, I will hear the notification sound but the LED does not activate. I have left it alone for as long as 30 minutes after hearing the notification sound, but no LED light. All the notification settings in each individual app are set as they should be. When I turn the screen on, the light will then blink once. While the screen is on the light will not blink (which I understand is normal), but as soon as I turn the screen off (as long as I didn't clear the notification) the LED will start blinking as it should.
The LED worked fine before the 4.1.2 update. I rooted using mattlgroff's utility, and used voodoo rootkeeper to protect root during the OTA. I have tried using Light Manager and Lite Flow; neither solved the issue. Using the test features in both these apps, I was able to get the LED to display each supported color, but it wouldn't work in "real life". I have factory reset the device twice, and I reinstalled all apps manually. I also tried the Motorola Notification Light Widget from the Play Store, with no luck. If unrooting would help in solving this issue, I would not be opposed to that as I was considering unrooting before taking the most recent update. But, I do not know of a way to unroot besides mattlgroff's utility, which apparently is not currently possible after the 4.1.2 update.
I would be very grateful if someone could shed some light on this issue. Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: After doing a full SBF and reformatting the SD card, I am still having this issue. Am I the only "lucky" one?

[Q] Push Notifications

Hi
I'm currently running Terminus + CodeBlue kernel and having serious issues with push notifications. Pretty much only notification that I get when screen is locked, is calls.
All apps update when they are opened but not a second before. I have autosync etc on. When I'm on my WiFi whatsapp sometimes does not fetch new messages even if I open the app however on 4G it does that.
AFAIK this was not a issue for me on stock 5.0. Anyone having similar issues or am I alone on this one. I've done 10+ Clean flashes on the ROM and kernel..

Missing notifications from "todo" apps

Hi,
I'm running latest official ROM on my S6 (see details below). No root, completely stock.
I'm having major problems with notifications from "todo" apps (TickTick, Any.do) not working. This is what happens:
- I create a task and set a notification time, put the phone in my pocket
- When the notification should occur, nothing happens
- If I open the app, the task is there, and the notification is overdue, but it did not sound the notification alert
Notifications worked very nicely a few months ago, but after the last (two?) updates, this problem has occurred. I suspect this has to do with the ROM closing down running tasks when they haven't been used for a while, but I would expect such "todo" apps to be able to keep running in order to be able to trigger notifications. The app-optimizing feature is switched OFF.
I haven't yet tried resetting phone to factory settings to see if that helps.
Any ideas of what to do to fix this issue?
Anyone using either of above mentioned apps with success on this ROM version, i.e. notifications are working?
Thanks!
Ed

A11 notification settings reset?

So I'm on stock OnePlus 8T tmo OxygenOS rooted and occasionally notification settings reset. Like setting certain apps to turn off notifications or set certain parts to off reset after a while. It's not connected with any specific app, it seems to be random. In my time of installing things and whatnot on magisk I have used msm tool to revert everything to stock multiple times and it still does this. So it's nothing I've done (I think). But some apps have a service notification, or like tasker you can hide the profile notification, etc. But occasionally (a couple times per day) random apps will have their notification settings reset to all on. Any ideas why or what's doing it? I think it's something on android system doing it but I have no idea what or how to fix it

Unreliable notification led

I recently got my Xperia 5 II. While setting it up I imported my old apps and settings from my xperia XZ1 via the set up wizard (that automatically pops up). (Not sure if that has anything to do with it).
The problem is that the notification led doesn't work reliably. Sometimes it blinks, sometime it doesn't. I'm not even sure if it's caused by certain apps or not. Most of the time gmail notifications don't make it blink but sometimes it does. Whatsapp never blinks, although it should accodtring to the settings.
Obviously the notification settings have the led enabled both in system settings and each app. I even tried deleting and reinstalling some of the apps. For gmail the notification led worked once after a new install but afterwards never again.
My last hope was to add it to the exceptions of the battery management, so it doesn't get killed, but that didn't help either.
What's going on? Is this a common bug? Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
