I wrote a batch script that will generate an OEM-locking batch script from any Moto Z stock ROMs' flashfile.xml. It works flawlessly on my Moto Z (XT1650-03), but it's generic and may be of use for other Moto smartphones (Z2, Z3, Gn, En, etc).

Give it a try and place comments here, please.

I'm very new to Android (been using iPhone since its release) but i got a Sony Xperia E4g as a gift from my carrier and I would like to update it to Lollipop or root it and get something like MIUI on it. This that possible?
I would like to get rid of all the Xperia software and just get a clean Android install like Nexus phones have.

you can think of source code as a raw materiel of android kernel.
which you/someone has to compile to get a kernel which you can flash on your device.
and you can modify raw meterial to do anything you want to do with your kernel.
for example disabling system write protection (sony_ric) adding custom recovery(cwm) overclocking ,undervolting etc.
and if you get enough experience you can port lollypop or cynogenmod12 to your device.

Woah! That's surprising! I thought only Android One devices got MTK sources.

I think mtk no longer sucks.
Mtk devices won't have source code cause most of companies that are using mtk are not releasing source code.
Like micromax never released sources.
i got an E4g it's really fast with good battery life, maybe the faster device in that price.
Soon costum roms will come out and prerooted stock firmware :fingers-crossed:

That all i know. Maby said for both e4 and e4g.
cwm, twrp
Hi all there!
Well I got me an e4g as well and I'd spend some time working on cm. Actually I've been looking on the partition table a bit to get cwm or twrp running as a first step but I got stuck there as I could not figure out where the recovery partition resides. Therefore I'd like to know if someone already started working on that and if someone has / or knows where to get a stock rom. And as a last question has someone tried the chinaphone / MTK backup from SpaceX with e4g?
(Sorry cannot post link here )
Cheers
Chris
Hi,
How can I port http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3245546 this rom to my moto G 2013(Falcon)?
Tnx,

The rom you linked to seems to be a vanilla CyanogenMod 13 build. You probably don't need to port it.
You can start by creating a build of the same rom but for the original Moto G 2013 you are interested in. You will need to swap the device tree so that your build uses the device tree for the Moto G 2013 instead. There is a chance that what you build won't run or will have an undesirable impact on your device so,....make copious backups and do your research before you build or flash anything.
Good luck.
UPDATE: This Ethan Chen article is worth a read too.
Hi all!
I'm happy to say that, thanks to iovyroot, and with a lot of help from zxz0O0, we managed to create a new root tool for the Xperia M2, EagleRootTool, meaning we don't actually need to use Kingroot anymore to root LBL devices under latest Lollipop firmware :victory:
However, since this root binary is compatible with (probably) any kernel built before December 2015, I thought of making the tool compatible with some other devices, like your C3, since it's actually very similar to my device.
Unfortunately, since it requires some kernel-specific addresses, to make it compatible with other devices like the C3, I need them from every single variant.
I'm going to take for reference all models and firmware build numbers from XperiFirm.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- An already rooted device in 19.4.A.0.182 (it doesn't matter if it was rooted by Kingroot, or via UBL methods).
- A little of Android general knowledge: Usage of ADB (mainly).
- Patience.
DEVICES:
- D2533 ✓
- D2502
HOW TO DO IT?:
Just open an ADB prompt and run a shell in it. Then, run the following commands, replacing the *location with storage/sdcard1 if you want to use your SD Card, or with data/media/0 if you want to use the internal memory.
Code:
su
cat /proc/version > /[COLOR="Purple"]*[/COLOR][COLOR="red"]location[/COLOR]/version.txt
echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/kptr_restrict
cat /proc/kallsyms > /[COLOR="Purple"]*[/COLOR][COLOR="red"]location[/COLOR]/kallsyms.txt
(remember to hit enter after each line of the above :silly
Now upload those two files (version.txt & kallsyms.txt) wherever you want, or attach them in your comment, saying which model they're from, and I'll add the required offsets to support your device manually!

Sounds like a plan. I'll do it when I get the chance, just one question though. Did the C3/T2U/M2 lose any special features when the bootloader got unlocked?

If you're talking about DRM keys, no, they don't make you loose any functionality.

I got the files you need. Hopefully this will inspire development in the lesser known devices.

Edit: Not sure if relevant but running a Z2 framework.

The device is supported, and has been succesfully added, here you can have a look: https://github.com/sergiocastell/iovyroot/blob/patch-1/jni/offsets.c#L285

This ROM is for msm8953 and x64 bits, so ofc it's not going to work.
Why was this posted here? It's clearly NOT for this device.
Hey guys,
Just started to port LineageOS for UMI Z
[Reserved]
Hope then after UMI Z its easier to do a Z pro version too. Fingers crossed
Good luck
A version for the Z Pro would be really awesome.
Or is it even possible to use the same version?

It is possible, only thing it's that dual camera might not work well or not work at all. Everything else its exactly the same as UMI Z.
The dual camera does not work properly with the original ROM.
My photos are only good in bokeh mode.
For all other options, the photos are very fuzzy and out of focus..
With the Open Camera the pictures are very good.
So I think that it is not a hardware problem.

Damn, I have not ask this question because I was hoping that you had it by some miracle...

Ahahaha sorry
Even, I'm building a little ROM custom based on Stock 7.1.1 with root access, magisked, and 2-3 apps pre-installed. Nothing really exciting.

Can you confirm if the source code will ever be released for the Gemini Pro?
