Is anyone else having trouble with google vvm right now? Usually it's flawless and was actually working this morning but now it's telling callers "the number or code you have dialed is incorrect.. blah blahblah" on both mine and my girlfriend's phones atm...

I got 2 VMails this morning, both came thru fine with notifications.
Now I can't even leave a message on either of our phones.
I'm gonna give this 45 more minutes then I'm calling a lawyer

Hope this is just a glitch......I can't have this not telling me when I have a message. Luckily, I heard the phone ring and let it go to vm(working). I waited a couple mins and checked and the message was there. Until now, it has been great, I love the transcription, that is the bomb!!! Perfect feature while working....can let it go to vm and then read the message.......
This happened once before and I spent over an hour trying to fix it and gave up and it just started working later that night.
that's pretty disappointing that it's not more predictably dependable.

I figure I got at least ~30 more years of 100% reliability
Then the little blue pill will carry me the rest of the way
And for the record, of course I'm not all bent because gvoice is down, I just like it a lot and if this becomes a weekly thing then I'll have to find an alternative which would suck because I very much dig gvoice vvm.

Lol gvoice probably works better.
Anyway, i use youmail only because sprint vm app wasnt working on some roms n i cant figure out how to unforward.
If u would pay for gv then youre ok, those who wouldnt shouldnt complain, carry on.
I wonder if this has something to do with me removing Sprint_Core.apk?
1) GV is working just fine for me. Placed a call out using it and left a message on both my number and my wife's. Got the message and the notification. It even transcribed it correctly!
2) I pay good money for high speed internet, cellular phone service and satellite television. All three have failed me on more than one occasion.
3) I pay absolutely nothing for Google Voice and it has yet to fail me.

Haha I wish I was having your luck with gvoice, it's been 24 hours and still not working at all.
So it's not Sprint_Core, I put it back on and my sprint vvm works fine but after removing everything, dialing *38 and starting from scratch to set gvoice back up from scratch, same deal. Gvoice just doesn't want to be my VVM provider

Since the integration of GV and hangouts I've been having some difficulties with SMS on my Sprint HTC One M7 phone as a result. Prior to the integration I was able to send and receive text messages over a standard cell signal but afterwards I can only send/receive them while I have a 3G/LTE/WiFi connection. Which is frustrating for a couple reasons: since I use tasker to turn off my data while my screen is off to help conserve battery, I can’t receive any text messages until I turn the screen on and data is reconnected. On top of this if I'm out of the house in an area without 3G/LTE I can't send/receive any text messages via my google voice number. As I said before this was not a problem until GV and hangouts became integrated.

The link states that:
“If you're using Google Voice on your Sprint phone, you shouldn't turn on text messages and voicemails in Hangouts. This will cause problems with your text messages.”

So I tried this and sure enough the sending/receiving SMS does work again with over a standard cell signal, however, text messages no longer appear on the hangouts website... which is less than ideal.
So I’m wondering if this is happening to anyone else using google voice and sprint.. and if they have any solutions that might help? It’s really frustrating because previously to the integration I had an awesome system where I could send/receive text messages on my phone and as well as my computer very easily and it seems that google’s now trying to phase this out for something different.
I do not have a Sprint phone but the problem is not because of Sprint. The problem lies with your HTC.
The reason I am saying this is because here in Australia, HTC phones are terrible. I am saying terrible to be nice. There is always some sort of problem with them. Whether it's software or hardware, something will go wrong. 100% of people I know that have or used to have an HTC had to get it repaired within the first year of owning one.
Best thing I can suggest is for you to change phones.

Honestly you shouldn't have even posted, this problem obviously does NOT lie with HTC but with Sprint/Google Voice/Hangouts. Also you are from Australia which which means you have absolutely no experience with Google Voice.
I don't know what kind of experience you have with HTC but the HTC One M7 has won many awards for being the phone of the year for 2013: http://blog.htc.com/2013/12/2013-the-year-of-the-htc-one/

I am not trolling you, just being quite straight and frank with you. I am telling you that everysingle person I know who has owned an HTC has always had something go wrong with it. I am not surprised at all something messed up. Heck, even here in Australia people have had the same problem with Hangouts and Google Voice on both M7 and M8.
If you don't like peoples feedback, don't call them trolls. Just ignore it.

No. By the way, opting out of the google hangouts integration fixed the problem of not allowing SMS to work without Wifi/3G/LTE, thus the problem had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the phone!

How about this. I will contact my friends in the US that have an android phone, find out which of them have a M7 and find out if any of them have experienced the problem you have been having? Just to keep you as a happy chappy. I will even go one further, i will ask who their service provider is just to prove to you that the issue lies with the phone, not the provider.

There are actually three forms of GV. There's the original google voice app, which is being depreciated with the integration of GV/Hangouts for the hangouts app, then there's the new app added, which you mentioned for VOIP the Hangouts Dialer.
As I said before in my original post everything worked perfectly, for almost two years so far until the GV/Hangouts integration, so don't go calling my phone a piece of ****. After a lot of searching, (mainly of google groups support forum) I found that the problem lies with GV/Sprint integration and they're still working out the bugs. But it should work fine for other carriers, which is why in the original post the link suggests opting out of the GV/Hangouts integration.
Although doing this doesn't allow you to use the google hangouts web app to receive SMS, it is still possible to receive them when using the the Hangouts android app as the default SMS app and the google voice webpage as well.

Mate in Boston who is on AT&T who has the M7 replied saying that he had the same problem, gave it in for repairs and it works fine now..... I am not saying HTC SUX. I have had personal experience with HTC but traded it in for a N4 after 6 months cause I got sick and tired of it messing up.
Honestly, you don't listen, you don't read. The problem has already been fixed and it wasn't a problem with the phone. So stop being all high and mighty with your Nexus phones are the best talk.

Does anyone else get prompted to accept/decline visual voice mail EVERY single time you get a voice-mail? How many times must I decline?? I don't want to pay for this thing and I've never had it forced in my face so many times with other Verizon phones.
Oh, it asks me after I check my voicemail and delete whatever I had in there, too. Ridiculous.
Download Google Voice, set it up. This was you avoid Verizon voicemail completely, get the same features, and its free.
I honestly don't even care about the features (I've used GV before). I just need this prompt to not be coming up twice every single time I get a VM. Did you hit "accept"? I always hit reject (since I don't want to use it).
Don't know. I use Verizon VVM multiple times a day and it never prompts me.
Did you maybe freeze/debloat something?

Premium visual voice mail is the only paid part..... You can get basic visual for free. And actually it's supposed to be used on all smartphones now. Cuts down on the calls on the cell site.
Personally I use google voice because I don't run out of space and get texts sent to me transcribed but I have been doing that for ten years about.
For people who don't want to go through the setup of gv visual is offered free for basic.
Easier to check anyway don't know why you wouldn't want it xD

Oh im sorry i meant do you recommend any other Visual Voice Mail apps, NOT Verizon Voice Mail apps, i agree Verizon apps are terrible and a robbery, i have been using google voice but find it a bit lacking and that's why i asked if you have any other voicemail app recommendations.
P.S Verizon financial policy's may suck but we cant deny we gotta love their speeds and coverage.
Only thing I know it will be possible (most likely with triggering OEM unlock in developer settings for non Verizon phones) don't know if it will help "flash" recoveries and such stuff on the Verizon phones, how is it now if you trigger it, it won't help odin flash anything?

I've been happy enough with Google Voice not to look for any alternatives.
Just get a nexus. I'm never getting another samsung phone.

eh i was thinking about getting nexus 6p but i cant stand that you wont be able to pull the battery if your phone ****s up and that theres no sd card slot

You can't remove the battery from the S7 either and I meant wait for the new nexus devices later this year. Supposedly Google wants to design them themselves which would make them better than prior nexus devices and since Google has moved back toward integrating sd cards into the OS with marshmallow, I'm sure android N will as well which means the next nexus devices will have sd card slots.

No it won't. The Nexus has never had an external SD, what makes you think they would suddenly integrate one?

I'm actually not sure.
I had Google Voice set up on my previous phone and restored it with Titanium Backup. When I go to the phone's voicemail settings I can select Google Voice as the voicemail provider. If I try to do the "setup" from there it gives me that same error you're getting, but it still works. Maybe try setting it up on a computer from the website? It's possible that step is unnecessary.

Isn't Google the very reason most of the manufacturers were pushed away from external SDcards in the first place?
I thought Verizon was done with carried tied phones. I though you would just buy the phone out right, or on a plan like at Best Buy, and then activate the sim. Maybe I a mistaken.

Getting a used Verizon Pixel soon as backup/google home/project fi activation unit. So I'm learning about the situations here. It seems although people are able to unlock it and flash to stock firmware, it's still not possible to get stock OTA after all... right? I know I can do everything I want with it as is, but I still prefer a clean system... So if total debloat is not possible, is there an app or anything like Package Disabler for Pixels?

Just go to apps and unistall the apps you don't want. They are not locked in there like the old days.

There really isn't that much bloat anymore as it is... None of those ridiculous Verizon apps that no one ever used exist.

The updates come regularly, but are usually a couple weeks behind the standard update. There is a Verizon specific version of each monthly release... You can see them all on the Google download page. Curious to see how it goes with Android O getting released Monday though... Might be a bigger delay there. We will see.

They are actually a few hours ahead. Both Google and VZ release on the first Monday of the month late morning. But since VZ is east coast they start dropping sooner.
Also, Google makes the VZ versions so they are available for download from Googles dev site....same time as the plain Google version. And its all different on this phone, the VZ version just has some radio and network changes. There is no bloat in it. You actually get that from VZ when you put the VZ SIM in it. I got it on my Google version when I put the SIM in it.
And its not much, just the basics. MY Verizon, Visual Voicemail. That kind of stuff.
