I updated my phone using the Firmware Finder app...
This downloaded and updated my phone, no issues.
I then decided to update the phone to next version, which was a full OTA release.
This downloaded successfully but when the phone rebooted and tried to update, it failed.
It is now stuck on the screen that says "Reboot", "Factory Default/Wipe" or "Clear Cache".
Tried "Clear Cache"... The cache clears but then returns to the same menu.
Tried "Reboot"... But it reboots to the same menu.
Tried "Factory Default"... But it fails after about 6%.
I am able to get it into "Huawei eRecovery" mode (holding up volume button), but when you select "Download latest version and recovery" over Wifi it returns an error saying "Getting package info failed".
I was also getting into the "Fastboot & Rescue" mode (showing unlocked in green at the bottom), but this now seems to have stopped working.
I've tried connecting to the phone via HiSuite and SRKTools, but neither recognise the device.
There are 3 screens that I am currently able to access...
Fastboot&Rescue Mode (states PHONE Unlocked)
Huawei eRecovery Mode (option to "Download latest version and recovery" fails)
Reset Mode (option to "Wipe Cache" succeeds, option to "Wipe data/factory reset" fails at 5%)
I've tried flashing via Fastboot, but get the error "FAILED: (remote: Command not allowed)".
Any suggestions on how to recover my phone please?

You have not mentioned which Region ROM you were on which was working perfectly last and which firmware you tried to flash through FF.

ERecovery is useless for you since it works only on Chinese firmwares.
1 Try 3 button update by putting update.app of B170 you mentioned above in dload folder on sd card.
2. If the above not work, extract update.app of B170 through Huawei update extractor and extract boot, kernel, recovery, system.img and flash all these through fastboot.

Hi how to downgrade from B317 to B137? I need to reinstall B317 so have to downgrade first. I tried the transition pack B300 but saying failed. Is this transition pack only for B308? Any help?
317>300>137>308>317.
i guess it's failing due to root? What i've done:
stock recovery > 300 > 137
Not root, just normal update with sd card. I tried vol up vol down power force update as well, still saying failed.
ok here is the trick: (i got the same issue)
- put dload on your external sd-card.
- plug the sd-card-holder out of the phone
- do the 3-Buttons
- immediatly after the Huawei-logo disappears, plug the sd-card-holder into the phone.
It's really weired, but many users fixing the downgrade that way

I did a factory reset, it said "user reset failed!". Now stuck at huawei logo, system cannot boot. Help, please!
update: use vol up + power, then "wipe data/factory reset", now can boot. But still cannot roll back B317->B300, failed at 95%.

1. create "dload" folder on sd-card, copy update.app (B300) into "dload"
2. run local updater or 3 button force update

Do this:
- download B300 (maybe yours faulty) and fastboot.zip (including 5.1.1. recovery.img + boot.img package
- Now flash via fastboot the boot.img and also the recovery.img
- put the B300 "UPDATE.APP" into the "dload"-folder on your external sd-card
- plug out the sd-card
- vol up and down + power
- plug in the sd-card quickly after the huawei logo disappears
- ???
- profit!

Thanks. I am just reading old thread regarding the failure, before I attempt to do your suggestion, do I need to unlock the bootloader first?
yes, otherwise flashing via fastboot won't work. But you can first try the B300 i've mentioned without flashing boot.img and recovery.img.

I got the driver installed from HiSuite (Huawei phone management software) and successfully unlocked the bootloader.
Now I probably ready to try your suggestion. Just want to check with you if I got the command right:
---
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
---
I am quite new to root and flashing CWM recovery. Could you please explain what is "boot.img" and "recovery.img" so I know exactly what I am doing? Are they stock recovery?
My initial guess of the problem is my stock recovery may be damaged due to the factory reset on B317. Please correct me if I am wrong.
that's the correct syntax!

I fastboot flashed the boot and recovery image, but the phone is keep rebooting every minute! And still same problem b300 cust fail at 95%.
After reading a number of thread related to cust fail for B300 transition pack, I decided to ignore B300 and go to B137 straight away. B137 update said failed at 90% but after reboot, surprise I am on B137! Motion control still missing. But I fixed it by rooting the device and modify the cust\ directory (accroding to http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate...-fail-t3078530, then I did wipe data/factory reset in stock recovery (no more cust fail), then flashed the B137 again, still failed at 90%, but after reboot, the motion control is back).
Now looks like I got everything back just like "out of box". I am not sure whether I will be getting 90% fail when B137->b308->B312. Haven't tried yet.
All solved, please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62883777&postcount=55
I have totally failed to rebrand my FRD-AL10 (EMUI 5, Nougat) to FRD-L19 (because I was hoping to get rid of all the apps/functions/messages in Chinese) by following the steps listed on another thread.
I did eventually manage to get it to identify as FRD-L19 but when it did boot up it had no stock keyboard only voice commands and the phone was unusable . it said it was Android 7, model FRD-L19 and build number was nrd90m test keys?
I tried to update with the latest FRD-L19 update.app by copying it into the dload and vol up+vol down +power buttons press but the update failed and since then I am stuck with the phone refusing to boot, or to boot into twrp recovery.
It hangs at the booting now orange letters screen (It says "Your device is booting now...." and nothing more happens.
If I hold vol up and power up, it hangs at "Your device is booting now...."
If I wait until it says I can press vol up for Erecovery it goes into Huawei erecovery and that tries to download latest version update by wifi, it connects to wifi but says "Getting package info failed".
If I go to reboot from erecovery it goes back to the Your device is booting now.... and stops.
I can shutdown from erecovery (but if its still plugged in it goes straight back to "Your device is booting now...")
From shutdown (and unplugged from USB) - if I hold vol up+ vol down + power it goes to EMUI Installing update then Software Install failed. The update package does not exist. Please download the package again. Reboot system now.
I don't know how to put an alternative update package into dload when I can only use fastboot mode and nothing else?
I can do that by shutting it own from erecovery shut down page and holding down volume and power up.
I assume I need to go back to stock firmware for FRD-AL10 like this one from another thread FRD-AL10_C00B135_Firmware_China_Nonspecific_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_05013LBP
and not version 7.0 stock rom for FLD-L19???
Anyway, I unzipped that and use Huawei extractor tool to extract Boot.img, cust.img, recovery.img and sys.img as suggested on this thread.
I can fastboot flash 3 of those but the cust.img fails to flash with "partition error"
I also tried to fastboot format user data but the command failed FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
I don't think its possible to use the unbrick function of huawei multitool because I can't get into recovery mode?
I don't think I can get a different copy of update.app file into the dload folder internal memory and use the vol up+ vol down +power buttons because I can no longer get the phone to boot to system.
The fastboot screen says PHONE Unlocked
FRP Unlock
Would be very grateful for suggestions on what I should be doing to unbrick this, please. Sorry for being a stupid newbie.... and I honestly have been reading these threads day and night for 2 days but am still stuck!!
Thanks
Edit: is part of the answer to try to flash a different version of twrp again? So I have to put the right version of twrp.img into my adb folder and then fastboot flash recovery twrp*****.img ? Then I might be able to fastboot boot recovery ? Or if twrp works I can flash the right stock rom? (which one? given I was trying to rebrand)
Or if I could somehow get back system to boot, I could use adb push to put the correct update.app into dload on internal memory and use the vol up+ vol down +power???
Bro first flash the compitable twrp

That was the twrp had success with before..... but everything seemed to go wrong at step 5 of the debranding guide. Where I was supposed to do a data wipe when the device immediately rebooted after installing the zip?
Then I was confused about whether I needed to put the firmware update file into sdcard/dload or not and whether it should be internal memory /close instead. And whether the firmware was correct when it said Android 6 when the phone said it was android 7????
And then there was no keyboard only google voice.....
But I will definitely start by trying to flash that twrp again... and if that can work... then the L19 Rom from your debranding guide again. And let you know.
Thanks

So held down power which started the reboot and enabled me to press vol up to enter erecovery and choose shut down.
then volume down whilst connecting usb to PC to put into fastboot mode
then copy your file twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img to minimal adb directory on my pc
then in minimal adb: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
I have got that far.
Then do I fastboot reboot?
and hope it boots to system so I can copy over the zip file from my pc with file explorer and then
do I adb reboot recovery (to get into twrp)?
then install the FRD-L19C432B131-hw-eu-OPU_TWRP_FRD.zip file using twrp? (or do you mean another method of installing that rom)?
then still in twrp I do Wipe: format user data?
then do I reboot to system?
At what point do I need to copy the update.app to sdcard\dload and use the vol up+ vol down + power to install the update?
Thanks again

After twrp sucess you have to biot the device it will works normal but you have to go reboot to recovery and do a factory wipe and shutdown then after doebload the official firmware of frd19 which is mm and dlaod the update.app and three buttons trick it will update and relock the bootloader and update to EMUI 5 by the phone updater app in settings
I got this far:
So held down power which started the reboot and enabled me to press vol up to enter erecovery and choose shut down.
then volume down whilst connecting usb to PC to put into fastboot mode
then copy your file twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img to minimal adb directory on my pc
then in minimal adb: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
then I rebooted and got back to the screen where system fails to load "Your device is booting now"
So I pressed power off and then held down volume up but it boots only to erecovery so I pressed shut down and decided I needed to unplug usb.
I tried again with holding down volume up and powering up and managed to boot into twrp.
In twrp I do wipe: swipe to factory reset.
Twrp says Failed to mount '/cust' (invalid argument)
and Failed to mount '/system' (invalid argument)
with windows explorer on my pc and the phone in twrp I can only see the /sdcard but I can see the FRD-L19C432B131-hw-eu-OPU_TWRP_FRD.zip is there.
So in twrp I go to install and I try to flash FRD-L19C432B131-hw-eu-OPU_TWRP_FRD.zip from /external_sd (with the zip signature check and reboot after install boxes unchecked)
It starts to write UPDATE.APP..... Completed! script succeeded....
E: unknown command []]
updating partition details....
Failed to mount /cust (invalid argument)
Failed to mount /data (device or resource busy)
Failed to mount /system (invalid argument)
Failed to mount /product (invalid argument)
I try to wipe data and get the same Failed to mount messages
I down load Honor 8_Firmware_FRD-L19_Android 6.0_EMUI 4.1_C432B131_United Kingdom .zip on my pc and unzip it.
I copy the dload folder including update.app to Honor 8:microSDcard
Then I went to power off in twrp so I could do the 3 button load from dload but twrp says "No OS installed! Are you sure you want to power off?"
So I'm not sure? Please can you help again?

bro neglet the mount issues after update.app write sucess reboot the phone once and let it boot comoletly .after that dload the offical ROM of frd l19 . and do a reset in stock recovery.
Ok so I rebooted and EMUI said it was doing a factory reset
then the phone booted up with asking me for language, wifi password
then it wants to do a quick update FRD-L19432B360 2.83 GB so I hit quick update.
then it reboots like a normal set up and the keyboard works and everything looks ok. It says that the build number is FRD-L19432B360
Do I still need to do the dload?
Thank you so much - I would never have got this far otherwise!

Bro but i will suggest you to from marshmallow go directly to the new update of nougat using firmware finder because, the update from b360 is stopped, sh!t huawei server stopped the update idk y , many people also stucked in b360 , so my idea is just go to latest update in firmware finder from marshmallow.
Any help just reply.
If you got another update from b360 just neglet my above steps and go on . Enjoy.
It was ok today when it wanted to update to B389. Now I'm stuck back with only erecovery again.
I can get back into fastboot and unlock the phone again and I put on twrp again and got back into it but
I'm confused about which firmware I need to flash
The latest version for FRD L19 in firmware finder is B392 and I would need the 3 files - update.zip, update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip and update_data_full_public.zip and to flash all 3 - I tried that but got a lot of errors and it won't boot
But I need to flash something or put on the MM dload/MM update you posted first? do I go back to the B131 MM you linked before first? Then I somehow update to the B392?
I'm so sorry to keep asking stupid questions!!

Flash this first update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip
And then flash update.zip .
If after flashing reboot got strucked in blue screen just format factory resey in recovery.
I flashed update_full_FRD-L19_hw_eu.zip
And then flash update.zip .
They both failed with error 7?
So I went back to your B131 and my phone is unbricked but this time I didn't accept B360.
But how do I get to the latest Nougat?
From Firmware Finder I thought it was B392 for L19CB432 but maybe its B384 for L19C10??

You can always enter fastboot, turn off your phone, hold vol- and connect usb to phone... Now unlock bootloader again, flash twrp for nougat[latest 3.1.1-1 by olddroid] if you are on nougat build and use option "format data" next to advanced wipe in twrp... If this is successful, reboot recovery, go to advanced wipe, check data, click "repair or change file system" and change it to EXT4 because previous "format data" changes to f2fs and that won't work with official systems then reboot... If your phone does not start, download same system you got on phone when this started to happen, extract UPDATE.APP from update.zip you got, put update.app in dload folder and put it on root of your sd card then turn off your device, disconnect all cables, hold vol- , vol+ and power button untill instalation starts... Your bootloader will be locked again after this.

You can download the required firmware I mentioned there:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/nokia-6-ta-1000-homebrew-stock-android-t3752006
PART 1: Preparation
1. Install OST LA 6.0.4 and patch it. DO NOT INSTALL OST LA 6.1.2 I MENTIONED BEFORE.
2. DO FULL BACKUP, DO FULL BACKUP, DO FULL BACKUP!
PART 2: Downgrade bootloader
If you're running Android O that comes from OTA Update, that means the bootloader must be downgraded before downgrade your phone to Nougat.
If you've already have old bootloader, skip this part.
Click to collapse
To downgrade the bootloader, you need to download this OTA package:
https://ota-filesite.c2dms.com/SWUpdate/500000748
To prevent from FIH removed this OTA package, I mirrored this OTA package.
You need to enter stock recovery manually.
Power off your phone, then connect your phone to a charger.
When you see the charging logo, press and hold Volume Up and Power key.
If you see "No command" displayed, release both keys, then press Volume Up while holding Power key. This will pop up a menu.
Click to collapse
In some cases, you may get stuck at stock recovery.
Pick "Install update from ADB", then use adb sideload command to push this OTA package to your phone.
Code:
adb sideload D1C-331G-0-00CN-B01-331F-0-00CN-B01-update.zip
After this update installed, your phone will reboot once, then get stuck at recovery. Your bootloader has been downgraded now.
PART 3: Install homebrew "Stock" firmware
Download the firmware from the link above.
D1C-331G-0-00CN-B01.7z - Nougat 7.1.1 with December 2017 Update
D1C-332A-0-00WW-A01.7z - (Hong Kong/Taiwan Variant, Full Google Play Service included) Nougat 7.1.1 with July 2017 Update
D1C-5210-0-00CN-B03.7z - Oreo 8.0.0 with January 2018 Update and old bootloader
D1C-5550-0-00CN-B02.7z - Oreo 8.1.0 with March 2018 Update and old bootloader (made from leaked OTA)
Extract the firmware archive into a new directory, for example, I extracted it to D:\D1C-331G-0-00CN-B01.
Open OST LA from INSTALLATION DIRECTORY DIRECTLY. Load the mlf file in extracted directory.
If your phone get stuck at recovery, pick "Reboot to bootloader", then connect your phone to PC.
If your phone is already powered off, just connect it to PC directly.
Click "Next" if it's usable. Otherwise, click "Edit Phone Information", after "Boot FTM Mode Fail" prompts, you can click "Next" now.
This will flash the firmware to your phone. If the procedure unexpected interrupted because of your phone doesn't cooperate properly (e.g. Your phone suddenly reboots to OS), close the OST LA, then press and hold both Volume keys and power key to force power off your phone, then flash it again.
When the progress bar is going to complete and your phone is booting (NOKIA logo is displayed on the screen), the flash procedure is already completed.
In most cases, if your phone prompts md5 checksum fail after flashing, this is also expected. You can close OST LA, unplug the phone, then reboot the phone with [Volume Up] and [Power] key.
PART 4: Full userdata erase
If your phone can boot into OS normally, skip this part.
Click to collapse
Because the encrypt algorithm is different between Nougat and Oreo, you must do full userdata erase or the phone will get stuck at NOKIA logo.
Enter Download(Fastboot) mode again with the method you're familiar with.
Open OST LA, load the firmware, then click "Edit Phone Information".
If you've already know how to obtain the service permission, you can just type this command instead:
Code:
fastboot oem dm-verity (md5 checksum of your phone's serial number)
Then type this command:
Code:
fastboot format userdata
You also need to flash TWRP to do another format procedure, which the procedure I've given in this topic:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-custom-recovery-root-t3702354
After you enter the recovery, tap "Wipe" (清除), "Format data partition" (格式化 Data 分区), then type "yes" to proceed.
NOTE: Root package included in recovery isn't compatible with Android Oreo.
Click to collapse
You can reboot your phone to the OS now. If the phone get stuck at Powered by Android logo, just do PART 3 again.
I successfully sucessfully fw (Oreo) through OST 6.0.4 and have installed TWRP on Oreo.
But the Root package does not work.
I'm testing with the zip install package via TWRP as the MODs for example (Emoji package, Font, ...) Hope it works.
I can't flash your firmware "Nougat 7.1.1 with December 2017 Update"
stuck on writing md5, what's wrong ?

You can use a text editor (do not use notepad) to edit the md5.dat, and modify the checksum to expected checksum displayed on the phone, then flash again.
I'll reupload the correct package soon.

Sorry, just one question.
If the TWRP already has those partitions decrypted, can the userdata partition be safely restored after updating from Nougat to Oreo?
does anyone have the OTA package backed up? https://ota-filesite.c2dms.com/SWUpdate/500000748 doesn't work anymore

You need to remove your USB cable to boot on TWRP (press "Power" and "Vol+" buttons, and only release "Power" - only hold "Vol+" - button when first blue screen appears).
If your phone is stuck on message "Device is booting...", you flashed a wrong TWRP version. Ask me if you want to try an another version.
But firstly, did you try this how-to (dload folder method): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/problem-frd-l09-t3596449 ?
Is there a model number written bottom back of your phone? (real FRD-L09 model?)
Good luck! =)

I just tried this dload method but the software installation failed at 30%. I don't even know if flashing twrp is really useful and the number on the back of the phone is FRD-L09. I don't know what to do.

Is it "Rollback package" UPDATE.APP which fail at 30%? Try "firmware B131" UPDATE.APP directly, if you have not.
I don't know about extracting ".img" from an UPDATE.APP file and flashing them... seems dangerous. ^^
If you boot on TWRP, you will be able to follow this thing (use FRD-L09 link and do all steps and step 5. fully: "Dlload For FRD-L09" flash to complete properly): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/guide-honor-8-to-frd-l19-t3632220
I can't help you more if it fails again, sorry...

Rollback package is okay but the firmware fails. I've tried the method with twrp but system.img won't install. I even tried to extract it and install it with fastboot but it says "cannot load system.img"

Try this 10 steps, that's the last idea I could give you...
0. Need an unlocked bootloader / Knowing how to boot on bootloader and use adb/fastboot command-line tools. (GUIDE HERE)
1. Download TWRP:
-- 1a) Recent version (EMUI 5.x installed firmware): twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img and use fastboot command to flash it
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
>>>> If phone is stuck on message "device is booting now..." when you try to boot TWRP, use old version.
-- 1b) Old version (EMUI 4.1 installed firmware): twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img and use fastboot command to flash it
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img
2. Download this modded FRD-L09C432B131 firmware (.zip): here
3. Copy the zip file to your SD card. (You can do that when your phone is booted on TWRP: plug your USB cable)
4. In TWRP, go to "Wipe" > "Format Data".
5. In TWRP, go to "Flash" > Select the zip file and flash!
6. When finished, do step 4 again before rebooting your phone!
7. Phone can take some minutes to boot, take it easy! If it works, download "stock" (original) B131 firmware: https://www.hihonor.com/uk/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=92101
8. Open the zip file and extract "dload" folder on your computer. Then copy the "dload" folder inside your SD card (root of the SD card).
9. Flash it with "Power" + "Vol-" + "Vol+" buttons.
10. Last step (RECOMMENDED) - Factory reset: how-to
:fingers-crossed:
