Is Vivo NEX a success in sales? - Vivo Nex Guides, News, & Discussion

Vivo is top brand in china right now. I wonder how much of this is a result of Vivo NEX ?
I think if they would lower price a little a lot more people would buy it.. like 100 dollars cheaper or something would make big difference in sales

Well actually BBK group is the largest Chinese manufacturer and includes Vivo,Oppo and OnePlus.
And all of three produce high cost smartphone even in mainland China.
Vivo and Oppo selling majority in Asia and OnePlus in Europe and India.
And even higher cost devices produced their between the top brand in China(Vivo-Oppo) and OnePlus in India and Europe.
NAM = North America, LATAM = Latin America, MEA = Middle East, CEE = Central & Eastern Europe, WE = Western Europe, APAC = Asia-Pacific

I dont think nex 2 will have this solution, I think they just want to try it out and see how people perceive it.
Right now there is too many compromises with a dual screen. When it does not affect thickness, battery capacity and price its a better idea.
overall I think Lenevo Z5 did do a better job it looks more stylish, nex version looks like a prototype in comparison. And the circular Selfie light does not look good at all even if it is functional

One thing is sure dual screen version won’t have the same success as original Vivo Nex.
Simple Vivo experiment with futuristic design and unique style but as much gorgeous is dual screen display has many disadvantages over original Vivo Nex.
The real successor of Vivo Nex will be unveiled sometime in May or June and will have newer Qualcomm 855 SOC and hope 1-2 improvements for example waterproof ip67/68 certification or stereo sound and NFC.

I hope Vivo Nex will follow same pop up design , I hope it does not jump into the slide trend.
Pop up solution will hopefully be easier to convince people that it is reliable after from what I have seen no reported problem on failing motors on the selfie camera. Its good that Vivo offer different type of solutions rather then just putting all money into one solution, I like when they give us choice, which has been less and less the last years since the statistics of high volume sells have become more important for manufactures they want to have less models so they can brag about they sell more then iphone etc rather then offering more models how it was in the past. Huawei did do a good job offer a real phablet size of mate 20 x .
People in general think the pop up camera is a cool solution but the general consensus from the people is that they think the motors will break over time. Of course only time can judge that, I think people are way too skeptical about it, most people don't have their phone more then 2 years, the battery will be worthless in 2 years so I would worry more about the battery personally.
Even if we ditch the motorized solution, I dont think we should adop the slider solution, it compromises too much of the robustness of the general body, also makes it more vulnerable for dust and dirt. A spring based solution for the pop up camera is also and idea. What most people are worried about is that if the motor dies the camera gets unusable, to send into service is not a option since vivo dont have service centers outside china more or less, but in case the motor go bad there should be a spring inside so you can atleast pop up the camera with the spring when you push at the pop up area of the phone. Otherwise all we can do is see and wait how well the motors pass. Personally I have not been using the selfie camera alot of times ,I doubt I have even open it 1000 times in the last few months for instance. If you use snapchat alot and have not blocked selfie camera access I guess this number will go up fast.

[Discussion] Looks like Pantech is moving to the big leagues with the Pantech Magnus

Known mostly for budget-friendly phones with not very hot tech specs in the U.S., Pantech might be looking to upgrade its playing league. We haven’t yet heard anything clear about the recently teased Flex, but the Vega S5, Star Q 4G LTE and Marauder looked like much more than the modest gadgets we’ve been used to see from Pantech.
Now a new Pantech-made phone has been leaked, and, although it’s not exactly a contender for the Galaxy S3 or HTC One X, it might come with high-end-ish specs. The Magnus (which is Latin for “great”) seems to be on its way to AT&T and might enjoy a release by the end of September.
First spotted getting FCC approval at the beginning of August under the P9090 codename, the Magnus now stars in a leaked pic that can only mean one thing. Someone is trying to build hype around the handheld, so a launch is imminent.
The photo doesn’t reveal much about the “Great”, aside from the featuring of an 8MP rear-facing camera with flash and the inclusion of a front-facing webcam (most likely a 1.3MP one). Still, we can easily tell that the phone will be running ICS out of the box or maybe even Jelly Bean, having some juicy on-screen navigation buttons.
A few other tech specs have been rumored before, including the featuring of a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor, an Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory and a 720p HD display. The screen will probably measure around 4.3 inches in diagonal, although it could go up to 4.5.
As for the design, this is actually quite intriguing. The front is not very original or unusual, looking kind of bland even, but the back is a whole different story. There are not only sexy curves there, but also quirky bumps, which makes this look a bit like HTC’s Incredibles. This is clearly one love or hate design point, and, while some will find it innovative, cool and special, others will most likely call it ugly or tacky. I for one kind of like it, because, even if it’s not the absolute most elegant phone ever, it’s not ordinary either.
We of course know nothing about the Magnus’ price or exact release date, but as soon as we’ll find out something we’ll let you know. For now, tell us if you’re at least intrigued about the phone’s design and rumored spec sheet.

So what do you think? Will it be big? Personally i have the pantech burst and it's a very good phone but we have so few developers. So will this be on top? or a flop?
I think this is a great phone in todays market even including LTE capability, if price would be around usd. 250,-
Can this phone be purchased WITHOUT an ATT-plan ?
I would like to use it in Europe (Netherlands), so where to buy ?
Anyone...
interesting, I've never paid attention to them before but more variety and competition is a good thing.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
witch origine it is ?
If it is priced right (around 199) i think it would do well. If it is priced more than 200 i would just save up for the GS3 or OneX
Will it be released in indonesia ?

it has AT&T branding.. seems like only America will get it? and its probably available so cheap because of subsidies.
Wonder how it compares with the pantech maurader, battery life on it was terrible. had some nice features for older people.

Lenovo K900 thoughts

Didn't find a Lenovo K900 thread anywhere, on any site as a matter of fact, so I'm starting one. First phone from a Chinese company to get me excited. I'm still leery of ZTE and Huawei, but Lenovo has been making Thinkpads for several years now so I'll bite. This phone looks amazing, especially the diamond pattern. It's super blocky, but its so thin at under 7mm it makes it look really cool. The frame around the black glass front really makes it stand out in its own unique way. It even has a microSD slot. A big middle finger to all those other unibody phones that keep on saying no microSD is the future. The only thing I don't like is the look of the speaker grille. There's also a 13MP camera by Sony. Hopefully it is the new Exmor RS and not the old R. If it is the RS, it's kind of weird that Sony is not making their own sensor exclusive, and instead sharing the limelight with Lenovo on the same show. The Lenovo one is even thinner. Did I mention it has a 5.5" 1080p IPS screen?
Here's a fun video where the rep makes a bunch of mistakes. Poor guy confuses sim card with microSD card and internal storage with internal RAM. He also does this Sarah Palin-esque jumble of words about how he personally loves the phone, its good for low lighting, because he's a power user, and a whole bunch of other stuff that aren't necessarily connected. Does it in all the other videos too. Gotta dig how he says that 5.5" is the perfect size.
http://www.digitaltrends.com/ces-videos/hands-on-lenovo-k900-intel-atom-clover-trail-smartphone/
Here's a comparison with the Galaxy Note 2. Its a little bit taller, but looks a little bit less wide, if not the same.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsnX4qGERZI
Since you want thoughts, I have to say that IMO that's one of the ugliest phones to date. The shiny back thing worked well on phones like the Nexus 4 but on that it looks absolutely awful. From a specs standpoint it seems pretty decent, although I don't think it's any better than the Xperia Z or ZL (whichever one's better lol). The Xperias are infinitely better looking, too. However, as stated in the comments of the youtube comparison with a GNote 2, phablets are pretty pointless without some sort of special S-Pen like functionality.
I like the metal and those screws which make it look solid and upmarket even though being so slim. The diamond pattern version is not for me, although it does look like those engine turned instrument panels on pre-war Mercedes'. Performance wise I've seen initial benchmarks which look impressive. It does need an S-pen. At the moment the Note 2 is my favourite phone even though Samsung is using far too much cheap looking plastic.

Congratulations! Nicely designed hardware (the simple stainless version), unfortunately with really tacky overlay, but nothing that a good launcher can't help, I hope.

Is the K900 definitely a WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 phone? Most specs mention only 2100 for 3G, some add 900, but one of the shops confirmed, when questioned specifically, that the K900 covers WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100. This is important for the US users (and here is what Lenovo seems to be distributing: http://www.letsgomobile.org/images/news/lenovo/lenovo-smartphone.pdf)
How do you like it so far?
What is the battery life?
What is the camera like in low light?
I also have the HTC One Developer Edition on order, but will probably cancel it (the f/1.8 lens on the K900 was the tipping point for me, hope it's great not just on paper).
Also, does it have FM transmitter?
Most of the chips with FM receivers include a transmitter as well, just curious if there is an app on the K900 for the transmitter.

k900 and iphone 5 have their own strengths,in your link to zol.com.cn ,they show that iphone 5's photo is better at night, but ,Lenovo K900 is still very stable from the comparison of outdoor , indoor , macro , panoramic night view of these aspects , whether it is indoors or outdoors, Lenovo K900 can be very accurate in place to restore the colors and details . iPhone 5 because of its usual " automatic " style ,adjust the photo color , brightness to compare to please the eye , but During panorama shooting iPhone 5 " automatic " loss of efficiency , a significant drop in the brightness of the screen .

Sure, the K900 has an overall fine camera with great wide aperture and hopefully the software side will be tweaked to make the shots better.
Thanks for the photos in the rooting thread you've started, it a great-looking phone.
Have you figured out if the phone has radio transmitter (so that you can stream music to FM frequency on your car radio, for cars without A2DP receivers)?
Also, have you come across any documentation on the 3G bands enabled (850 and 1900 are of particular interest)?
Oh, and can you get through the day without a recharge (with "normal" use)?
Thanks.
guys frankly before ordering i was thinking this is the best phone in the world in this price range but after i used it for 1 month ive realised that firstly..camera is good but it needs some settings every time.....guyz im not a developer but i guarantee u with roms like cm or miui this big beast will turn to a monster...problems is in its software"lenovo UI"..I WOULD APPRECIATE IF SOMEONE WOULD PORT ROMS ON K900

Xiaomi Mi4C Is Official With Snapdragon 808, 3GB RAM & an Amazing Price Tag

Back when Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Mi4i flagship in India, Chinese users felt a bit left out. The device was good in looks as well as specs and the local market could have used a device like the Mi4i. But little did they know that Xiaomi had something even better for its domestic market, and a few minutes back, it made the Xiaomi Mi4C flagship official. Just like the previous leaks and rumors predicted, the Mi4C flagship will be much better in terms of specs and value than its international brother, the Mi4i. I am sure after seeing the specs and the pricing of the new device, Chinese users will be delighted for sure. So, without wasting any more of your time, lets take a look at what this amazing device has to offer.

Looks wise, there’s hardly anything changed in the new Xiaomi Mi4C. You get the same smooth back finish with a strong rectangular body as its international brother. While this may sound a bit simple, especially in a market where metal bodied smartphones are preferred, the company compensates this clean look with its numerous color offerings. You can choose between five different colors according to your liking, including yellow, white, pink, blue and black.
But this is where the major similarity ends. Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi4C comes with the much more powerful Snapdragon 808 . On the other hand, the Mi4i had the slower Snapdragon 615. This is a great move from Xiaomi since 808 will ensure the fastest performance in its price segment, which is exactly what the MT6795 powered Redmi Note 2 did . There are two version of the Mi4C, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage while the othe r with 3GB RAM and 64GB of storage. With Adreno 418 GPU and the above specs, the Xiaomi Mi4C manages to score much better than competitors in the price range. According to the benchmark score revealed by the company in the presentation, the Mi4C managed to score about 57K on AnTuTu , which is even better than MX5 and Huawei P8. Clearly, you won’t be disappointed with the phone’s performance.
The display will be of 5-inches with full HD 1080p resolution . It is said that the Mi4C’s display will be 20% slimmer than traditional panels. The company has compared its size with the recently announced Apple iPhone 6S. As you can see, the dimensions are almost the same as the 6S, despite having a slightly larger display. Also, Xiaomi has made sure that the bezels are quite thin, making it around 30% thinner than average smartphones.
The company has also paid special attention to the Mi4C’s camera. The phone comes with a 13MP Sony IMX258 rear sensor with PDAF . This should ensure great images with fast focus. What’s more, the company has upgraded the algorithm to ensure that low light photos come out bright , with more detail and less noise. You can check out the image below to see how it works in real life.

In reply to your previous post, I live in Hong Kong, I have pre ordered it on JD.com, I can visit china anytime. i will see if huawei official store have them, I don't like purchase online, so I prefer a instore purchase, worse case, is I don't buy one, i't not important.
Do you know if the magic is a limited edition, I mean limited supply, or will they stop production after awhile.

No i haven't seen any talk of it being a limited edition or any tone that implies that.
It should sell no different to the Honor 6 plus in which the dual camera was first tested before it was implemented on other Huawei phones.

So even if I wait for a few more weeks or months, they should be constant supply, ive already have a LG V20 and a Sony Xperia X performance so i'm not in a rush.
I was getting ready to buy the Beyerdynamic Xelento IEM, then I heard about the Magic, if there is no rush I will probably get the IEM first, so I can skip all the inflations, but during my visit to china on ther 9th January ( I visit china 1-2 a month), and if I do see it, I can pick one up, but i'm not going to buy it if the price is inflated, thats why I ask if they have a limited supply or a dead line before they stop selling it. But due to the high cost in making this curve screen, not sure if Huawei will keep selling the magic.

If price is inflated more than 7-8% id say its not worth it in your case since there is no other shipping costs involved. If your not really crazy about getting the phone, then 1-2 months you can get the phone with original price id say. But since im crazy about getting it, i wont mind if it inflated less than 7-8%.
The curved screen is there on the Mate 9 pro as well. I even see that the screen alone as a spare part for Honor magic is available for sale online. So i don't think that will be an issue. From what it seems, the curved screen is going to feature on P10 and other Huawei top end phones next year like the dual camera this year.

In that case, holding back is probably a good idea, but will see if it's available on the 9th.
It looks gorgeous, but I wish there wasn't a button on the front

It looks samsung-ish with that placement, especially with the curved display

The Mate 9 pro looks more Samsung from the front, but the Honor magic has lots of differences i doubt anyone would confuse it as S7 edge.
I wonder which phone Honor will be unveiling tomorrow CES 2017. The teasers are about the camera but Honor magic hasn't brought anything new to the camera.

It's 90% honor 6x, but I hope for something better

But nothing news worthy about 6x either that they would unveil it on a CES. I'm guessing a new phone with some new dual camera tech or honor phone that uses the Mate 9 20mp dual camera, along with 6x budget offering.

Vivo NEX S - Questions, Purchase decision

Hello everyone
I found myself in this situation, so, I can now purchase global NEX S locally in one of the retailers for roughly $600, brand new, but I have some doubts about the purchase since phone is more than 6 month old, still no Pie for it and basically zero 3rd party development due to lack of source from Vivo.
I really, REALLY like the design though. Notch is a deal-breaker for me and I'm a huge fan of that full screen and in-display fingerprint reader.
I own Galaxy S8 currently and must say, S10 looks same to me. Also, hole in the display is equivalent of notch imo, so, that's a no-no.
All that said, I have few questions.
1. Does this phone (global version) have notification light (notification LED)?
2. How's the ardio coming from 3.5mm jack?
3. What do you love / hate about the phone?
4. Would you recommend it to your friend?
5. Feel free to add your own opinions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Love everything except funtouch launcher but i replace by nova launcher...no notification led but just install NO LED and work very very well....battery with full usage stai easy 2 day....screen is very amazing color...no notch..no waterdrop screen , fulll screen...s10+ with 2 hole in screen (very ugly)
dont hesitate
only thing is functouch...you need take 1-2 hrs to knoww all about functouch
S10 design really disappointed me but I'm sure many people will buy it.
Still, thanks for your reply, there's still no root access available for the NEX, right? What a gorgeous phone anyway

I have had my Nex S for around 1 week now and here are my views & opinions to help you along the way.
1) Display is Fantastic (ok it's not QHD) but really that does not matter it vibriant and clear and most of all it's ALL Display and that I very much appreciate.
2)Battery life (although Funtouch doesn't show SOT, yes I or you could use GSM or similar, but all I can say is that I play alot of PubG and browse and use message and like now, took off charge at 8am it's now 11pm and I have 28% left, it's well fantastic.
3)I have the international version and it's great no Chinese bs, and notifications come through just fine, if you install Nova or Pixel launcher your all golden.
4)Don't listen to reviews the UD scanner works well and I'd say 98% success rate for me or very close to, opens as fast as I need it to.
5)Camera's are nice to, ok perhaps not pixel, but I like the quality you get from them.
6)Design is nice to and comes with a nice case (not a cheap feeling one) it's quite decent.
Overall yeah I would recommend the Nex S, no there isn't root but I don't actually mind, I have other phones that I can mess around with...
Hope this helps, it's a very nice device ......:good:
No root but with ADB its very easy to remove all bloatware...but with 8gb ram...no need more ram

I agree with all the previous comments. I highly recommend this phone. It's phenomenal in terms of performance, looks and superb battery life. Just change the launcher.
Huge thanks to all of you, will post uptades and my impressions if I get it
I'm thinking to get one nex s....
Totally agge with above posts by other users I'm having the Chinese version 6 months now and most of the case totally satisfied.
The only thing missing from the device is 3 things.
1.No unlimited app notification on AOD(very bad Vivo policy-most OEM offer that choice with AOD)
2.You can not customize off screen gesture like for example Oxygen offer with Oneplus and use whatever app want.
3.Not having unlimited accent color customization and not having dark/black themes out of box like Oxygen offer.
With nova launcher +sesame shortcut app+ HD widget you could get SOT detail info.
Just like my few minutes ego results after 2.5 days.
