Known mostly for budget-friendly phones with not very hot tech specs in the U.S., Pantech might be looking to upgrade its playing league. We haven’t yet heard anything clear about the recently teased Flex, but the Vega S5, Star Q 4G LTE and Marauder looked like much more than the modest gadgets we’ve been used to see from Pantech.
Now a new Pantech-made phone has been leaked, and, although it’s not exactly a contender for the Galaxy S3 or HTC One X, it might come with high-end-ish specs. The Magnus (which is Latin for “great”) seems to be on its way to AT&T and might enjoy a release by the end of September.
First spotted getting FCC approval at the beginning of August under the P9090 codename, the Magnus now stars in a leaked pic that can only mean one thing. Someone is trying to build hype around the handheld, so a launch is imminent.
The photo doesn’t reveal much about the “Great”, aside from the featuring of an 8MP rear-facing camera with flash and the inclusion of a front-facing webcam (most likely a 1.3MP one). Still, we can easily tell that the phone will be running ICS out of the box or maybe even Jelly Bean, having some juicy on-screen navigation buttons.
A few other tech specs have been rumored before, including the featuring of a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor, an Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory and a 720p HD display. The screen will probably measure around 4.3 inches in diagonal, although it could go up to 4.5.
As for the design, this is actually quite intriguing. The front is not very original or unusual, looking kind of bland even, but the back is a whole different story. There are not only sexy curves there, but also quirky bumps, which makes this look a bit like HTC’s Incredibles. This is clearly one love or hate design point, and, while some will find it innovative, cool and special, others will most likely call it ugly or tacky. I for one kind of like it, because, even if it’s not the absolute most elegant phone ever, it’s not ordinary either.
We of course know nothing about the Magnus’ price or exact release date, but as soon as we’ll find out something we’ll let you know. For now, tell us if you’re at least intrigued about the phone’s design and rumored spec sheet.

So what do you think? Will it be big? Personally i have the pantech burst and it's a very good phone but we have so few developers. So will this be on top? or a flop?

I think this is a great phone in todays market even including LTE capability, if price would be around usd. 250,-
Can this phone be purchased WITHOUT an ATT-plan ?
I would like to use it in Europe (Netherlands), so where to buy ?
Anyone...

interesting, I've never paid attention to them before but more variety and competition is a good thing.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

witch origine it is ?

If it is priced right (around 199) i think it would do well. If it is priced more than 200 i would just save up for the GS3 or OneX

Will it be released in indonesia ?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app

it has AT&T branding.. seems like only America will get it? and its probably available so cheap because of subsidies.

Wonder how it compares with the pantech maurader, battery life on it was terrible. had some nice features for older people.

another korean phone...

Slim A8 Android tablet from China, believe your eyes

Maybe it is not the best 7" Android tablet, but you could find it with Rock-chip rk2918(Cortex A8 1.2GHz) process and 7“ TFT(1024 x 600).
The main feature of this tablet is that it provide the much thinner(Thickness only 9.4mm) tablet than others.
This tablet solution has just released by Giayee which is an Android IDH from Shenzhen, China.
I just get the sample images and the main feature(M703):
Rock-chip RK2918, A8 1.2GHz
512MB DDR3 + 4G FLASH
Android 2.3 OS
7“ TFT(1024 x 600) + Capacitive TP
WIFI、GPS, G-sensor , Compass, Gyro, HDMI etc
2MP back camera , LED Flash
0.3MP front camera

Good spec
How many cost?
It's not really thin though is it? The iPad 2 (probably the most popular tablet) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (probably the second most popular tablet) are both considerably thinner.
this is probably a lot cheaper....but where can I purchase these things?
You can find many more on their site too, they're all similar in specs. I can't post links, too few posts, but Google "Shenzhen Highkee Electronic Technology" and around the 3rd link down look for one with "highkee" in the URL. It has a menu on the side to find their android tablets. But judging from their business model, they may not sell direct, you'd have to go through another company - they sell in bulk unit orders (minumum appears to be 500).
Sure these might have been the kind I saw in street market stalls when I was on holiday last month, they seem to fit the bill. The M703 one looks quite nice but the screen quality is what always bothers me when buying new stuff.
Looks great How much this cost?
I really like this thread
where can i buy one?
I want one.
The guy with the candle iPad at the Steve Jobs memorial. I want to be him with this tablet.
Where can i buy one though?

that's what i was about to post
Anyways, does this thing have access to the market?
It has some in China, and will wait for some time for oversea market.
By the way, if you are China, you could find their company, or you could find the official site(giayee.com)

this is a joke. I could find this tablet(M703) and this tablet is just another company- Giayee technology Co.Ltd.(ocuses on R&D and production of Android Tablets and Mobile Phones).
So in other words these are ONLY available in China?
you can find those in Deal Extreme
those tablets are not the greatest
but good enough for games and web browsing
Interesting what quality they have. Cheap is not always better.
wow... nice specs.. i hope the quality and chips are good as well...

Battery life is going to be questionable
AOKP 4 LYF
I need some help with my motorola Atrix II. I boot up and there is a program that is trying to run and a scre pops up saying the application launcher (process com.koushikdutta.launcher2) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I hit force close and the error message keeps poppiing up. I cant do anything on my phone.

Yeah 1.5 or 2 days?
This looks alot like the gnexus. I bet this is the phone motorola submitted to google in the bid to become the 3rd nexus. i dont see capacitive buttons so maybe its a sign of things to come for motorola's 2012 lineup *fingerscrossed*
3300 mAh will handle it, I think!
Update: Seems just a concept
love my atrix, think im going to stick with this line for a while
Even though this most likely is just a concept phone, the whole internet is squirting over this phone, makes you wonder why Moto doesnt take a hint and make this a reality. Instead theyll release something crappy.
Definitely should be the next Nexus.
That would definitely be one sexy looking thing! We will find out soon at the MWC if these specs begin to become standard, especially battery capacity. If motorola can fit such a large capacity into such a thin device like the razr maxx why would the other manufacturers not be able to do it?
I call severe BS!
2GB RAM? 3300mAh battery?
The Atrix 1 & 2 were trash, why would you get excited about 3? Wow, great specs...and a locked bootloader!
whenever the best developers have the phone timeline in their sig i see atrix followed by sgs2, no complaints on the atrix, most find it to be a solid performer and considering it is a year old its still going head to head with other phones, also it had a 1950 ground breaking batt, i think this falls inline, dont ask me about A2 though

Those are some strong words considering it was once the worlds most powerful phone and OC'd today can perform as well(if not outperform) todays new phones....
qhd, dual core, 1gb ram, 1930mah still pretty good for today's spec considering its over a year old.

i have an atrix 1 with functional ICS thanks to Jokersax , i also UNLOCKED my bootloader and can make it run at speeds to match the note. this is the best phone i ever used ..i have been out of contract and i still don't see ANY phone worth switching to on the market in the US yet.

I have the feeling OUYA will be a huge failure.

I remember all the hype for this Android based console that was supposed to revolutionize the mobile gaming industry but I feel that they have waited far too long, you can already get similar spec'ed Android stick computers for basically the same price. The only thing I now can see going for the OUYA is maybe the controller aside from the good looking case but looks don't matter when the cards are on the table and the sad fact is that the Nexus 7 is just as powerful as the OUYA is going to be, not to mention the Nexus 7.7 will be announced soon this year which will most likely drop the price of the Nexus 7 which will make that $99 standpoint of the OUYA look not so good compared to the portability of a similar spec'ed tablet.

Confirmed specs are,
Tegra3 Quad core
1GB of ram
8GB of internal ROM space
HDMI connector at 1080P
Wifi 802.11 B/G/N
ONE usb port
Android 4.0 ICS "NOT EVEN JELLY BEAN <.<" The community probably will quickly fix that though.
1 Wireless Controller
Compare that to the devices already announced "Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, Nexus 7.7, Galaxy Tab 3, HTC M7, Galaxy note 8.0... The list goes on.
And if you want to compare it to whats out now that will be price dropping this year "Nexus 7" Then the OUYA just doesn't fit in the "Good deal" Scene point of view. Lets not forget The Exynos 5 which will most likely find it sway into more tablets and phones alike and the Tegra4 which "If you have paid attention to what Nvidia has been saying" Is going to be their thinnest, most powerful mobile processor on the market which will be as much as 6X faster compared to previous Tegra based devices.
Source http://www.anandtech.com/show/6666/the-tegra-4-gpu-nvidia-claims-better-performance-than-ipad-4
I say why buy a console and stay at home when you can buy a Tablet and bring it with you anywhere.
I don't understand why so many people are worried about this being "underpowered" So what if the Tegra 3 comes out this year. New tech is always coming out! It's not like all the games that are released from now on will suddenly *need* a Tegra 4 to play them. And it was announced a long time ago it would have Jelly Bean, whatever press release you have may have the info wrong. Also, I highly highly doubt the Nexus 7 will drop in price. It will just be dropped completely when a new Nexus comes out. The Galaxy Nexus didn't drop in price when the Nexus 4 came out, it just stopped being sold by Google! And yes this is more powerful than the 7 anyway because it has a fan, and is overclocked as batteries not a concern.
People need to stop looking at this from the "what is the hardware" stand point, and look at it from the "what is the opportunity" stand point. It's a great spec'd android dedicated TV box, that should have a huge cult following! Isn't that awesome? Isn't that what this site is all about. XBMC, modding, emulators, homebrew games. Have a little sense of adventure man.
I would imagine it can be hard to predict how well a product will do, probably a lot of factors need to be analyzed..
I feel there is a market for it but not sure how large ....Im not sure how good nintendo ds devices specs are these days but seemed a few years ago they where crappy and similar to gameboy or gamegear in gfx look.....my point is people are still buying and using nintendo ds......
Oh and products kind of go viral too....if they come from something well known or similar.. im not sure the fact it's android based will be something that pushes people to buy it though.
I remember when the original xbox was about to come out everyone was such a sony playstation fanboy and a lot of people didn't really want an xbox...and people wheren't interested in specs it was all about playstation2/sony being a known brand so they will have a better product.
seems now miscrosoft has won over a lot of playstation fans from back then.
i won't go into depth about movie trailers and movie quality and video games.
I don't buy a mmo until atleast 6 months after its release any more and if i have any interest i just follow it those 6 month via video reviews and forums.
But um basically my point is i gave up on trying to predict or be an early adopter or having hope in products.. i just wait and see and try not to waste brain power or money guessing . so if i do guess i just go with my first gut instinct and wait and see....my gut says....
OUYA won't be a huge financial success but could lead to or inspire something better down the line but i think tablet gaming is the future...just hook up the tablet or phone to the tv and play if you want so i don't really see the point in OUYA.
Odp: I have the feeling OUYA will be a huge failure.
Its not important what OUYA will be... Its exciting what "ouya" gen2, gen3 will be. However i think better option is smartphone+tv+2 pads. OR nexus Q as a gaming center.... Just dreaming...
In my personal life I can't see it being useful at all. But I don't think it'll be a failure.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
failure? really don't think so.
it will be always cheaper due to no need have a screen and battery and rugged body.
there will be huge and on growing selection of games.
it could be used as a great media streamer with the right adjustments.
and all of that for 99$? it will be godlike device.

HTC One E8 - First impressions: Premium device disguised as a mid-tier phone

I've had the HTC One E8 for just over a week now and I am thoroughly impressed. The device has a premium display and chip-set at a mid-grade price. The curved edges of the poly-carbonate (plastic) back plate makes this device easy to hold without losing its visual appeal. On the back you will also find a 13 MP camera with a single tone flash. The face of the phone contains a 5 MP Selfie camera, 5” HD display, and two front facing speakers. The “Boomsound” front facing speakers can push out a great deal of sound without losing any sound quality.

Another amazing feature of this phone is Sprint Spark. If you have not had a chance to try out Spark you might be blown away by the data speeds you will see. This was my first time trying out Spark and I could not believe how much faster it is then my cable internet speeds. Check out Spark availability in your area.

The battery life is pretty good and typically lasts me the entire day. Also good to know that I am always playing with it so you might get way better battery life then I do. The US Sprint version comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4.2.

I have had my phone for a few days, and I have to say that I am impressed with the quality of this device for the price I paid.
Sound/speed is much better than my old Galaxy S3.
Multitasking is a snap, and I kind of like the HTC Sense UI.
Thinking of rooting this device, have you had the chance to root yet?

Review and rooting guide below.
Review
Performance- The Mediatek chip performs exceptionally well in this device. I'm pretty impressed with what this company has been doing with its cpu stuff lately.
Build- It feels solid.
LTE- Many low budget phones are still shipping with HSPA, so it's nice to see LTE in this one.
Display- It's not really a bad display, but it's clear that it's a cheaper panel. Really just way too cool in my opinion.
On screen keys- these are literally the best thing they have done on the phone
Android 5.1- I seriously doubt it'll ever see any update, which is a bummer.
When it comes to looks, I'm kind of torn on how I feel about the Xfire. On one hand, I think it's kind of OK looking; on the other, I think it looks cheap. The thing is, I can't really tell what it is that makes me think the latter - perhaps (most likely?) it's the plastic back. It doesn't really look terrible, but it doesn't really scream "premium" to me either.
The overall size and form factor are pretty great, though. It's got a 5-inch display, which is a really nice size no matter how you slice it. It also feels very solid and well-made - not at all like a $50 phone. The build quality definitely offers the more premium feel that I like to see on more low budget phones
Camera - the camera is pretty rock solid on this one, check out some pictures i took
Software - This phone runs vanilla android and is all but stock with some minor "useful" software customizations offered.
Performance and benchmark - this device performance good and doesnt lag, also the multitasking is pretty good.
i have performed antutu benchmark and here are the results
Conclusion - i really love this device, i bought this device as an extra if at all i brick my main devices due to rom testing .this little 50$ beast is perfectly standing upto its price and delivering its best
Rating -
Rooting
Rooting the phone is as simple as installing a app,
just install kingroot apk from below and install it
open it, follow on screen instructions

Alright thanks for the reply though
maybe there is somebody able to make one, and would be nice to know if xposed was running than?! I read on some reviews that it should get marshmallow, can anybody confirm that? and what about the promised roms cm and miui?!
thanks man.
how much is left in the internal memory, for apps? is it a one partition system, or two?
5,04 gb is left, one partition.
Nobody interested in doing some development for the xfire?
There is a new official rom for the xfire.
http://www.needrom.com/download/bluboo-xfire/
Did not note any (visible) changes.
How to get this phone with $50, it costs more than $70 in all stores?! Thanks!
