I just chewed OnePlus OUT hARD got like 45 minutes - OnePlus 6 Guides, News, & Discussion

I chatted with oneplus chat and I called them up and I let them know that the fact that they gave us always on display for the first week of this phone and then took it away permanently was out of line, and I let them know that I did not upgrade to the OnePlus 6t just because it didn't have always on display. I would not like to double tap my screen to turn the fingerprint scanner on I think that's ridiculous and 1 + imotto is never settle yet we don't have always on display. I told them oxygen OS is getting stale looking and I do not like the way it looks, I told them the settings icons are ugly they don't look like stock Android pie to me at all, they're moving farther away from stock Android pie in my opinion. I told them it's not all about speed and battery it's about features and I think they're features are lacking. (Like I can't even search for an icon when I try to apply a custom icon, so instead I have to manually search for the icon) I told them I'm sick of having to get an invitation to buy something and never being able to purchase anything because always invitation-only or sold out. I said I didn't like being teased with launch events & watching everybody getting all this swag and I'm never able to purchase any of it. I told them that they need to get always on display like next week like now, I told them they need always on display ASP, I told them I want always on display and I told them again. I do not want a phone that does not have always on display. Ever again. So we should be getting always on display now shortly. You're welcome
Also I told them that I'm sick of them never releasing the proper blobs for the open betas so the developers can make a proper kernel for the open betas, I told them that's ridiculous, that's our favorite part about the phone, the kernels, and they never release the blobs for the community.
I told them I like to have peace of mind when I install a kernel and I don't like installing kernels I'm not sure is going to work properly with the newest beta release of oos, I said they need to fix that immediately. I told them I skipped the 6t & got the pixel 3 XL instead because I think the 6t is hella wack. If it would have came with always on display I would have bought it but it didn't and that's ridiculous. I'm sick of settling. There's more to a phone than speed and decent battery life. I like features. I like always on display. if you can believe this the OnePlus 6t doesn't even have always on display, no LED blinker and you got to double tap the screen to unlock it with your fingerprint. Wtf
They think we're stupid. The OnePlus 6 is much better than the OnePlus 6t for sure. If I'm going to spend $600 on a phone I wouldn't mind spending another hundred more to get everything I would like on the phone feature wise. I told them to stop trying to act brand new. I told them their cases look the same every year, their so 2014 and played out looking, they need to update their look of oxygen OS and their cases. I'M SO SICK OF EBONY WOOD & CARBON. I told them if they fix this next time they release a phone I'll buy it. but I'm not going to spend hours a day fixing my phone because they won't release the proper blobs for all their open bettas. We should start a campaign where they bring us always on display by December. how are we going to live in a world where are phone doesn't have always on display. this is torture no always on display is torture & we're definitely settling. That goes against everything OnePlus stands for. We're living without always on display, can you believe that, I don't like that janky rigged always on display mod either, the brightness is never right and it's only available for the stable releases of oxygen OS because they won't release the damn blobs. If I could have always on display a decent-looking interface for oos launcher with the settings icons looking like stock Android and not final fantasy 7, I'd be happy.
I need always on display and I need my settings icons to look like Android pie it's driving me crazy the way the settings icons look. I need blobs for my developers so I can start donating my a** off again. you guys know that the settings icons are so ugly and you know it bothers you too.
the settings icons are freaking ugly they're ugly ugly
the settings icons are ugly
Happy Thanksgiving. GettiN uP to geT dOWN

Yes I do. I wasn't Aod . I want it back soon, how can we live in this world without always on display on our phone we won't even look cool in public
Those red ones on the ambient on display are fly. I need that always on, I need some cool points and that OnePlus always on display is freaking cool looking but it turns off in 1 second

No I kept it. ? I like it I just don't like the settings icons and I need always on display back. I wouldn't call the phone crappy but I feel like I'm settling 0n important features mainly aod, & the settings icons are so ugly to me

Come on everybody you know you really want always on display back it can easily be added back and you know the settings icons are super ugly come on how ugly are the settings icons. We would all be 20 times happier with always on display and normal looking Android pie settings icons. I can't just be me that is getting irritated with that. I flash a custom rom in the settings icons look so cool

Cool story...
Did oneplus say "thanks for sharing have a nice day."

I'm sure you really shook them up there.. Good god [emoji849][emoji57]

Ok, sorry Thanksgiving in Las Vegas kinda Goes.
I'll try to keep it under 25 mph.

And then all the employees in the call center stood up and clapped. They were literally shaking. Carl Pei read the transcript of OPs conversation 10 times with tears in his eyes because it hit so close to home.

They did burn us on the Aod though, and they never release the blobs for their open betas so we never get a completely working beta kernel. They're starting to cut too many corners. I'm really glad I skipped a 6t and just stuck with my 6 & went with the pixel XL 3 unlocked instead. I would really hate to have to double tap my screen just to turn on the fingerprint scanner. I did a pretty good job though of letting them know we want Aod back. I'm pretty sure they're going to be giving us Aod soon. And I bet they're going to get us a new settings icons too. I like always contact OnePlus chat so they know me really good so I'm pretty sure they sent the memo to the software team.I contacted OnePlus chat like 500 times in the last 6 months, I really like phones, OnePlus irritate me today because they wouldn't let me buy the backpack without an invitation code, I asked them "why they're trying to act brand new" and I told them there ebony wood & karbon cases are played out I was like I like the just black case the Google pixel offers. I told them this is getting really stupid that I have to win a competition to get an invitation to buy something or tap the phone 90,000 times to win something. I told them i don't have aod and the settings icons are ugly and no open beta blobs. Trust me they told the software team. I think the only way they might not give us the aod is they couldn't do it with the 6t for some reason, then they wouldn't give us that feature if they couldn't do it with the 6t. I don't know I need to get over it I got a pixel XL 3 who cares right it's just really annoying that I have to always fix my OnePlus 6, workout bugs trial and errors with all their bettas and no aod and now I got a winning invitation go to buy backpack. Their smoked out over at OnePlus. There's more to a phone than being really fast and have not having a lot of bloat. They have no features on this dang thing there's no features I hella like features and there's barely any features double tap to turn the screen off is a feature. I'm sick of trying to edit things and build props to get it things to work I'm just over it by the way who is this and why am I still talking to you my bad

OnePlus was the business in 2015 and 2017 but let's face it all good things come to an end and OnePlus definitely switching it up on us. The least they could do is give us stock Android look instead of this final fantasy 7 looking OS

Yeah bro. You rock! I know for a fact that the guys at OnePlus have a separate register for you because my uncle actually works there and he was telling me about you. Recently they actually launched a new subteam dedicated to listening to your responses because you are "the voice of the consumer" and you are known for "intense and to the point criticism that is extremely constructive". Every time you contact them there is a dedicated line opened for you and someone from the sub team is always on call to take input. Your reports are actually read by all of the upper management and not just the software team. We need you and more people like you to support us consumers man. I'm sure because of your efforts we will see AOD and AOSP settings icons added in the next update. In fact, and this is confidential information that could get my uncle fired, based on your reports, Carl Pei actually greenlit the secret update that enables the prototype in screen fingerprint scanner that is present in the OnePlus 6. Pretty cool huh?

I don't get it why AoD is so important for some people..

? I I usually don't criticize them actually, just lately I've been criticizing them. I just don't think it's too much to ask to have aod on our phones. It's a pretty basic feature.and I just started complaining about the settings icons. I doubt OnePlus team knows about me but their chat definitely knows me.lol

I held the Fuze today!!!! share your Fuze story

so today was a good day. for one i was blessed to wake up this morning and to top it of i held a ATT FUZE in my hand. it was the best 10 plus minutes in my life while i was wearing clothes lol. yes people i was at the store today in Milford, CT. the sales associate there had a test model. and i must say it is everything you would have guessed it would be. first off both the stores i went to in the Milford, CT area said the phone will be available the first week in november. so the oct. 23 date is a farse. the guy at the store named weel call "joe the plumber" (cause he is so famous these days) said he had his training on this past tuesday. and most likely the phone will be in his words. "the same price as the tilt when it came out or price competativaly with the iphone. with the rebate if u get the data upgrade." im probally not going to say any thing about the phone you dont know but it reafems the fact that it is real and is as good as advertized. and in the Milford store i was told i was the only person to ask about the phone so i should be the only one with it for a while. im the 1st person in the list for the saleperson. i cant wait for that call in november.
the phone= it self has the diamond back like the unlocked version. i dont know i asked why cause sprints diamond has a soft touch back and he said "the test group didnt like that feture." but i said if ur typing on the table the phone will wiggle cause of the uneven back. i think att was lazy and told htc to change the keyboard and ship the phone out. lol. and the phone is so light. the tilt is a brick compared to this phone. i currently hava lg cu500 and it is bout .25" taller and not much thicker. and that is good cause you get a ful keybaord.
the keyboard= lost the upper top row of just numbers. but it has a lot of quick bottons for text and internet and such. also has a phone style number pad on the keyboard. the keys felt nice and the sliding was smooth. and the screen responded nice. though the accelerometer was not as resposive as he iphone when you moved the phone when viewing webpages. but the zoom was sick.
the camera= i didnt really take pics but the pics he toke and had on the phone was clear. he also showed me the card reader program. with this program you take a pic of a bussines card and it scans the info and make a new ocntact on your phone. it toke like 15 sec for it to scan i thought it froze but it was understandable and still amazinfg when all the info was pust in the correct name, address, etc. sections on the screen. the touch flo with pics are amazing and the screen is so nice. the phone had a led flash if i remember correct. i was so distracted by the pretty screen and touch flo i didnt take time to look much at the buttons and such on the phnone. but i temember a white/yellow thing below the camera lense.
what the phone comes with. the phone i looked at was a test phone so jow said all he got in his black unmarked box was cd, phone, usb, and charger. i know when i went to the sprint store in Hamden, CT where i live and looked at the diamond it came with that and a holtster, air buds, screen protector. i hope att add these things cause for the price i kinda expect it, and htc makes them for the unlocked phone so it should happen.
touch flo was sick. it works as adverticed. they obviously added a att store tab. the pics scrooled nice, and the music player was cool. the contact was scroolable too. i mean everything that you already know is there.
so in closing. the 1st week in november is the date to look for. not this oct 23 but im ok with being proved wrong lol. please excuse and grammer errors. the price should be $300- $400 with the rebate. its not the iphone so they are not going to make there money of volume. and if i remember correct it is a dark red color. i hope this was helpfull to someone cause i was excited when i saw it. though i played it cool. lol Thanks

I don't know if he was trying to be pejorative with his reply, but I enjoyed your long post and its little details.
I'm a bit disappointed with the ATT version of this phone from all accounts. There are really two big things for me. First, the top row of keys would be far more useful had it been left alone as numbers in my opinion. I'm sure I'll get used to it if I end up buying the Fuze, but it's still a disappointment.
The second issue is really just an annoyance, which may end up being completely null in the end. It's the Diamond back, and how prone to wobbling it seems it will be. However, without a tilting screen it is unlikely I would ever really be typing on it while on flat surface anyway (in fact, I normally pick up my Tilt to type even with the tilting screen). And ever since discovering Pocket Controller Pro I'm even less likely to even touch my phone while it's on my desk. So maybe the positives of the aesthetic Diamond back actually outweigh the probably minor negatives of its functionality.

It's odd, my Fuze actually sat on a table and stayed in one position, didn't lean either way, just sat there with the way the back was. I had no problems with it. Also, I'm surprised to see you didn't like the symbols on top, most people I've spoken with (myself included) like the functionality of the symbols. Oh well, to each their own.
Which store in Milford? I used to live there but i'm in college in NYC now. At the Post mall or next to the Starbucks and stuff?
yes the one in the mall. the one by starbuks had a guy that was going for the training but as far as i know there was no test phone at that store. which is weird cause that is the bigger store.
and also i did test typing with the diamond back and it in fact did wobble when typing on a flat surface. though ur right u probably would just hold it rather than type on a flat surface.

Did the phone make that shutter noise when you took a picture?
I find that noise annoying when using a camera.

Even if it does, you can remove it.
With 3rd party software or with a feature that is built-in?
There are countries passing out laws that a camera on a phone must make that noise so people in the area know a photo is being taken. I was just wondering if AT&T Fuze was on that list.

if the phone is on silent it wont or im sure you can do a tweak or registry change anyway
all right, thanks!
A friend of mine got the nokia n82 with a 5 MP camera. The problem that he finds with it is that the camera makes that noise through the speaker when he takes a picture with it. Even when his phone is on silent or when his headphones are plugged in. I don't think he's found a tweak for it yet.
I was just wondering if it was the same with the Fuze. If anyone who has it can confirm it, it will be greatly appreciated.
when "Joe" toke the picture for the business card it did make a flash sound. though i dont know if the feature can be turned off. but like posted before im sure someone here will be able to fix that no prob.
and on a side note has anyone got any new on the android OS working on the fuze.

Woah... I was unaware of this. The ATT Fuze is dark red in color? As in, not black but dark red or is that optional?
Damn, just googled Milford, CT, and it would be an hours drive... Guess I'll have to wait until release to play with the Fuze
P.S. To the guy with the camera questions, every HTC phone that I know of has had the option to turn off the camera sound...

That's the same question I was about to ask. When you say dark red, do you mean as in the Blackjack II?
yes i do mean a dark red like the black jack II. it was ruby, dark burgundy color. i maybe mistaken cause i was blinded by the sole fact that i has the phone in my hand. lol
ill probably go look at i again this weekend or today. but i dont want to seem like that weird customer that comes in and never buys anything. i work sales and i hate that BS. lol

Well there are two reasons I would prefer the numbers. First of all, it's more like an actual computer keyboard. That would make it more comfortable and normal feeling - at least in theory. Second - and more importantly - I type numbers more often than I type symbols. Having the convenience of not needing to press the function key would be very nice.
I suppose it could go either way though. I'm definitely going to try out the keyboard before I buy, and I'll likely try out the Sprint version (or unlocked HTC version, if I can get my hands on one for a few minutes without purchasing it) also just to make sure. With a fifth row, I'm sure it's an improvement over the four rows on my Tilt no matter which configuration though, so it's not even close to a deal breaker. Just a little disappointment.
Out of curiosity, why would you prefer symbols? I really can't think of a reason why they would be better than numbers, so I'm wanting to know from someone who has that opinion.

i think most people don't mind the number PAD because you can press Fn twice to do a number lock. And since the numbers are grouped together, theoretically it's easier to type series of numbers...ie. phone number
i didn't like the fact that 5th row # was removed (they added that 5th row for THAT REASON!), but then I can see other people's point as well...oh well, i've come to accept that fact, as long as Fuze doesn't make us wait any longer

Minor Black Crush/Clipping on Galaxy Note 3

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hghivtnkhejph4r/P1010443.JPG
On top is my Galaxy Note II, and on the bottom is my Galaxy Note 3. Not sure if it's all devices or its just on some including mine. It is adjusted by firmware as other galaxy models have demonstrated in the past, so I think it will probably be adjusted in a firmware update in the future, but I just thought I would share. I had my device on at full brightness with auto adjust screen tones off. Then I took a 15 second exposure on my DSLR to confirm that at least "2", and "1" are indeed crushed, and the pixels representing the block for those numbers emit no light at all.
The mess around the numbers are probably jpeg artifacts.
I got the file from an old Galaxy Note (1) thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559800
Here's a copy of the file. It may look mostly black, but it's not. You would need to look at it in a dark room to see it on maximum brightness.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4fale5naqlpbwei/gammatest-xda.png
I dont understand these stupid threads that pop up every time a device shows up, every single time a freakin new device comes up, some guys start putting the screen under the microscope to check for inconsistencies. Whats the point of this? Does your screen look nice when you use it? YES IT DOES, then why scrutinize every single little aspect of it just to show it has some imperfection? Ridiculous

I know, right?!
I also don't understand how some guys who see a "pointless" thread have the need to take actual time from their supposedly busy lives to bash the threads instead of simply moving on with their lives, understanding that they aren't the standard-setters for what is or isn't important to other people.
Not this again, I remember people bleeting about this in the S2 days, if it does have a small issue, who cares, it's not like your TV where you watch media on it all the while you're at home. Think I can cope with the small issue with occasional film I may watch on it.

Before everyone freaks out, here's some background. The issue OP's discussing has been around since the first AMOLED display. It's varied in severity on different models of Samsung phones.
Here's a SGS3 vs. N2 comparison done by SuperCurio...
Here's the video with SuperCurio explaining the issue...
Here's OP's N2 vs. N3 comparison...
Compared to other Samsung devices the issue on the N3 is relatively minor. It can also vary from display to display and updates have impacted it before. As OP said, the issue's pretty minor on the N3; at least to compared to some of Samsung's other phones. OP, is the device you're using pre-release or production (retail)?
It is what it is. From what's been shown I'm not concerned. Let's see some more sample's from production phones from different regions before we all freak out.

Ridiculous

Hey I'm glad the OP posted it. I'm spending $700+ on this device, I would like to know every software glitch, every hardware imperfection, any flaws major or minor exposed. Just because it's Samsung's top of the line phone doesn't mean it deserves a free pass from scrutiny like it's some paragon of hardware excellence.
I don't get why people get so defensive about a piece of electronic. Ya'll working for Samsung's engineering department or what?
Thanks for letting us know, Mike. Hope to see more youtube videos from you about the note3.

Even when you buy a 5000$ laptop, screen bleeding and dead pixels will be there and they are accepted as being an industry standard. The real issue is it doesnt affect in any way how you use or enjoy the device, so why complain. All devices i had, had an XDA thread with hundreds of people that compalined about greens that are too green, or "blobs" for those that had an S3....its ridiculous. Thats how screens are made, they arent perfect
This post brings me back those very unpleasent memories of black clipping which suffered my first Samsung Galaxy Note.(quivering)

It's not the "what," it's the "how." I'm tired of scintillating thread titles declaring the end of the world as we know it backed up by little evidence or circumstantial opinion as their basis. Your "the N3 lags like the SGS4" thread comes to mind. You started it based on something you saw in an Italian review that turned out to be the opposite of what you posted once it was translated by an Italian XDA member.
I do agree with you though. I want to know what the issues (and there are bound to be issues) with the N3 are. But I'd like some context (when, where, how many, and how often) to go along with them so I can figure out what they'll mean to me. Spoiler alert: if I have to lock myself in a dark room and adjust settings to levels I'd never normally use to replicate a problem then, for me, it's not a problem. Of course YMMV.
This thread's a good example of how to introduce an issue. OP titled the thread "minor" rather than using "OMG!!!" and "THIS IS AWFUL!!!" and posted documentation to support what he found. That leaves it up to the audience to form their own opinions. And whether it's what OP posted or other issues that have been discussed the friggin' phone isn't even in people's hands yet. So disaster could be on the horizon in a number of areas but it's a bit too early to declare "the sky is falling."
Peace out.
Adapt display
I saw an "adapt display" option in this Note 3 video: http://youtu.be/S2Yr7PvgKQw?t=8m52s
Do you think calibrating the screen with it would solve the problem?

adapt display has nothing to do with calibration, just like in the S4, it just changes color saturation

Notification LED

Does One Plus 7 Pro has Notification Led unlike One plus 6T ? Thanks
It have glowing edges!!
Looks this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=79526056
But does it stay on indefinitely? No good if it only flashes the edge once while I'm out of the room.
I hope it doubles as a strobe light...
I think it works like Samsung edge lighting... only goes through 1 cycle which is only for a few seconds. Same issue I have with the s10+ at the moment.

I don't get it. Never Settle pushing out new hardware better this better that. But can't address this simple issue with notifications on screen. It seems like OnePlus is a name that has a big brand master that is playing deaf not hearing this. I don't give a rat's ass about 7/7pro till " never settle" will address simple issues with previous models.
Maybe support this brilliant developer and put LED light notification problem behind.

Not sure if you have been reading the thread or watch the launch event. A main point addressed has been the no Led notifications. There is a blue edge now for notifications.
Yes I've seen it. Someone was asking about duration of notifications and way to dismiss it. Happened to be AOE let you customize all that. I own 6T and with out help from outside developers OnePlus did nothing to fix it. Most of solutions I found out there are good projects but need some more work to make it flow less and that where oneplus should have step in. But apparently OnePlus don't care about 6/6T users. I know OnePlus got it in books already so who cares! Right ?

Any known issues?

Hey guys. Have currently ordered my new 12 gb one plus 7 pro nebula blue and I can't wait till it arrives but had a quick question for everyone......
Has anyone noticed any major or minor bugs or glitches on the phone?
I'm coming from a huawei p20 pro and I know the os and everything is going to feel fluid and google like but it's a major step for one plus to go to a curved display and 2k display and 90 hertz display so it could be little experimental but I was just wondering if anyone was having any issues with the phone if they don't mind sharing. I would love to know.
I'm sorry if I put a duplicate thread but didn't notice a thread with bugs and issues.
And I did see online that people were experiencing "phantom" touches issues and was wondering if anyone else was having that issue and what I need to do to avoid it from happening to my phone.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I actually have ghost touch issues, and it seems a lot of people also got it, if not everyone. But due to the fact it happens under some condition, not everybody seems to be aware of it. You have to run your screen at 90Hz, with NFC enable, and launch some specific apps like CPU-Z or reddit for it to happens, because it seems the issue come from the NFC. I heard it was a software issue and Oneplus is working on it, and I hope it is, because if it's an hardware issue, I will sell my phone.
Well, if you can deal with this ATM, this is a very nice phone, I sold my S10 to get this one and I'm absolutely not disappointed!

So if I understood correctly. You're saying it is possible because of nfc connection being on?
It disappears if nfc is off? I barely use nfc anyways so hopefully my phone will be fine.
And hopefully it is software and not hardware issue. That would suck as I can't return it where I am atm and will have to wait a month or so before I can if it's hardware issue.
And to my understanding.... Oneplus had a software update that improved camera and performance etc... Did you install it and have you noticed the ghost issue gone or still present in the new update?
Thanks for the update

From my understanding the phantom touches issue is very rare. I havent havent had the issue. The only bug I have noticed is when a phone call ends, youre always taken back to the homescreen. So if youre on twitter or playing a game, once the call ends any app will auto close. Its annoying but nothing crazy and will most likely be fixed soon.

First time hearing about that one. But thanks for you input.
Not a deal breaker for me but I can see how that can get annoying.
Have you or anyone noticed the earpiece random noises when on the call like other people have?
Or it's just device specific?
I bought the phone Friday when it came out. So I'm scared I bought the phone too soon and I might get more bugs on my phone that anyone else's but only time will tell when I get the device in hand.
(I ordered it early but since I'm in Africa right now, I had to ship it to USA international then ship from there to me using a third party delivery shipping service. That's why I haven't received the phone yet and have been waiting for a while)

That's good. Fingers crossed mine doesn't have any issues. My first oneplus device.
I've always wanted oneplus for their speed and oxygen os.
And the 7 pro really sold me with the 90hertz and that amazing speed and display.
I can't wait for the device to come in.
When did you buy and get the device? Ddi you guys order on Friday when it got out on the store like me or were you guys at the pop up event in New York or other places?

Yeah this is my first OnePlus device as well. I just switched from a Note 8 so I was already used to the edge display and I can say the edge display on this device is much better. The speed with 90hertz is also amazing and you can really tell the difference from 60hertz. The display is also great. With the front camera hidden inside the phone, the phone really feels like it is all display. Also the phone gets really bright making it easier to see in direct light and the night mode to tone down the blue light.... The greatest. I have sensitive eyes so looking at bright things at light was a rarity for me but this device can get really dark compared to phones Ive used in the past.
Anyways, I bought the phone the Friday when it went on sale. I had a lot of faith in OnePlus after hearing it do so well the past few years so I took the chance and got it.

Yea those are some of the reasons I got the phone as well. I'm coming from a used huawei p20 pro, a phone my brother passed on to me when he got the new mate 20 pro.
I've never bought a new phone. My first phone I ever bought was on contract which was the LG g4. Loved the curved back but screen didn't last for me (only one year in a 3 year contract at the time) then was using my back up phones until my brother gave me his p20 pro.
I've always wanted to try a curved screen display rather than curved back.
And I've been following one plus for a while, (I even got a referral for the oneplus one when they had a refferal service) but ended up selling it to someone else because I didn't trust oneplus back then but then after the other devices from one plus came out then I slowly gained interest.
And this oneplus 7 pro really caught my attention but these issues and bugs everyone is experiencing is really scaring me. If it's a hardware issue then I would have to take a long process to return the phone and I really don't want to do that.
Really hope it's a software issue and can get fixed in a future software update.
Or if I don't get the issues at all then that would be even better. Fingers crossed and will update the forum when my phone comes in.
I don't use the cpu app nor do I use nfc. So hopefully I don't encounter the issues but let's see. You never know
And how is the new update? Worth updating or made it worse?
Usually it's better but some people have been experiencing issues idk
Would love your input whether to skip that update when my phone comes or to download it right away

Where's AoD ( Always on Display ) ?

I have to say I'm pretty shocked that OnePlus hasn't added AOD always on display to their phones yet it's been a stock Android thing for a couple good years already.
What's the deal?

.it's on havoc im using it
One thing I like about this 7 Pro is you can enable the setting to show your lock screen when you slightly lift up your phone. Saves just that bit of extra battery life. I never liked AOD on my Samsung devices. But at least with the new One UI on those phones you can choose to have it turn on only when you tap on the display.
Hopefully we can get a mod for this. The op6t has it.
For now I just use the Screensaver...
Any news about Always on display?

Use pixel pulse apk for the time being
For AOD you can use custom ROMs, although I don't know if AOD doesn't turn off pixels except the ones that shows information or else expect huge battery drain.

Will believe it when I see it. Has been requested over and over for some time now, even more so since it was there briefly on the OP6 before being removed. It should not be hard and the OP devs are clearly very capable I think they do not really want to provide this feature for some reason and that we will get some battery related waffle as justification for it not being added.
I sold my OP7 pro and will not buy another OP device until they provide this feature. It is an important feature for me and too many other manufacturers provide it now so there is no need to miss out on it.
YMMV

Not a weird thing to get upset about at all. Either AOD or a notification light should be "there". Light can be put anywhere, even in a button. Now I have an app running to light up now and then. Notify Buddy consumes way too much battery which isn't an option either. I upgraded from OP5 to OP7pro, but honestly, I still am wondering why I paid all that money. The OP5 was and still is a smooth as butter fine device. GF has it now.

Exactly. I don't understand why they are talking about it drains battery. Yeah it does, but those who want it might not care. It's not exactly hard to implement AOD. Not offering no notification light and no AOD is just stupid. They been stating they are working on it for at least a year? That can't be true .
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The weird part is them selling their OP7 Pro for not having a feature that they knew wasn't on it when they bought it. Not sure why you'd purchase a phone that didn't have a feature you clearly would sell a phone for not having.

Not sure that is what you really meant but let's move on. I am prone to impulse buys (don't judge me) which is what the OP7 was and with OP saying they were working on an AOD I kind of hoped it would come (as it finally did from Huawei) but now I honestly do not think it is.
My point is that a functioning AOD that does not kill your battery does not seem to be that difficult, most other manufactures offer it now and LG even managed it on an LCD. I'm guessing and reading between the lines but I think that they have no intention of adding it but cannot imagine why? as I said the OP devs are clearly very capable so I'm sure they could have done it by now if asked.
As far as I know AOD consumes a few percent more per hour, maybe 3%. I don't know if that has gotten better in the last years. Still I don't understand why they don't offer the option to trade AOD for battery life. I guess the impact on battery in their testing must have been so high that it would've been a shame to release it. I guess it's kind of a "do it right or leave it" attempt they are following.
Also it could be together with the absence of the pocket mode. I guess since they don't have a normal proximity sensor that could be what stops them from adding it because if they did, they can't disable it when the phone is in the pocket.
They could still add it regardless of draining some battery. Could always add an option to turn it off like Samsung. I use an app called Always on Amoled. It's pretty similar to an actual aod. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newgen.alwayson
