About rooting G8142 - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Questions & Answers

Greetings, I saw two guides about rooting and fix drm on g8142 by storm and also janjan:
storm: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz...hack-mod-sony-xperia-xz-premium-twrp-t3695171
janjan: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz-premium/development/kernel-sony-xz-premium-5-2018-t3784669
Can I still use Storm's guide nowadays to root and fix camera? Because XperiaFix seems more convenient and less chance to get error.
Second question is, can I temp root g8142, and without ruining the camera? I just need to replace an .ogg file in /system/media/ui, and I dont need root access anymore. So maybe I dont need to root it forever.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Will a brand new Z3 be still rootable ?

Hi,
im looking at buying a Z3 at the weekend but the main thing is will it be still rootable? Im not sure what firmware it will come with
Are all versions still able to achieve root?
If so could someone link me to the best root method, much appreciated
I've bought a Z3 3 weeks ago and it rooted just fine. You do need to flash an older firmware

5.0.2 isn't rootable, at least not directly.
As long as we have root method for at least one fw available for device we can root all new firmwares.
So...it's not a problem to root Z3, no matter which fw was on it.
All you need is to downgrade to 4.4.4 (version that could be rooted), root it, install recovery and then upgrade by flashing prerooted ROM.
Z3 will retain root possibility as long as its alive...
Of course, all of that applies for locked bootloader.
If you want to unlock bootloader, you could root device by flashing kernel via fastboot...

thanks for the help, phone is coming tomorrow so it will be the first thing i do.
Coming from a nexus 5 so should be quite an improvement, especially battery life.
Another Question
is app2sd built into the firmware? or do you need a third party app which requires root?
things i need installed on SD card:
all games / apps including titanium backup PRO
can it be done?
If you get a new T-mobile Z3, you will not be able to root or unlock the bootloader.

[Q] Canadian Galaxy Core SM-g386W rooting

Hi everyone,
i have been searching for 2 weeks how to root this phone, but no luck yet. I am saying no luck for a proper way to do it , because you can do it with the avant method, or by using the CF method which uses the SM-G386T firmware, and for reading lots of forums, i know it works, but the problem is if i ever want to update later, i would not be able to do so. I already have the firmware for my phone, G386WVLU1ANJ1, running android 4.4.2 KITKAT, and i have extracted the recovery.img from the firmware file. I am searching how to unlock the bootloader so i can apply whatever rooting method i want. Since i am new to this, i need some information. If i ever want to use the CF-Auto-Root method using the SM-G368T model, can i go back to stock phone whenever needed by flashing recovery image from the SM-G386W ?. If not, is there any other method i can use, preferably one that doesn't trip my KNOX flag to 0x01. Until now i have tried 2 methods, Towelroot and Z4root, which didn't work at all. The main reason i want to root is i want to get rid of the bloatware installed by default on my phone and gain control of my phone without any restrictions, and customizing it.
Please need help.
Thank you very much
P.S: can anyone recommend some reading about rooting android phones?
wow , 107 views, not even a single answer !!!!!
Sorry dudes, but you call taht help ?

Update 2015/06/28: i finally did manage to root it properly with iRoot.
Thanks for nothing !!!
Again, i am sorry, but it p***es me off !!

I also own one of these phones and would like to root the phone to get rid of bloat ware and make the phone run smoother. I would appreciate if you could give a quick run down on how you managed your root. Greatly appreciated.

[Resolved] chicken or the egg, root or the downgrade

I just want ROOT
I understand that to root recent version 5.1.1, I have to downgrade version (but not sure of a few points)
1. Does downgrading firmware to an earlier version clobber the DRM?
2. If it does, how is it possible to ROOT without losing DRM?
3. Is losing DRM a big deal?
Any help appreciated

1) No, only unlocking the boot does that
2) Downgrade, root, install recovery, flash a pre-rooted ROM in recovery of the latest version you want
3) Depends if you use those functions or not, its a personal matter

3. Better backup your DRM keys, I think someday you'll be happy about it. The cam is crap on low light, especially bad without DRM
Thanks guys,
just needed that final confirmation on sequence + about the DRM
had low light issue on the htc one (but lived with it ok)
but wanted to try and back up the drm
thanks again

Leagoo T5 - How to root this device?

Hi guys,
I'm new here. I was wondering if anyone has a Leagoo T5 and might be able to help with rooting it, ideally without flashing the OS?
I'm worried about bricking the phone, which is why I'd rather just root the current OS if possible. My current OS version is: OS2.1_E_20181025
I'd looked at many of the well know root tools, like KingRoot, KingoRoot and OneClickRoot, but so far none of these offically support this device.
So, has anyone successfully rooted this phone with the default OS, and if so, which rooting tool did you use?
Note - My goal is to install an app (needs root access) that can prevent the phone from charging over 80%, to boost the battery's lifespan if left to charge.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
So, is it not possible to root Android without flashing the device first?

Need help with rooting a phone. (ALCATEL 3L MODEL: 5029Y)

Please do move this to the correct thread, as I am new here.
So, as I stated in the title, I need help rooting this phone. I am familiar with rooting, flashing and all of that. But there is a huge problem with this phone, as I am unable to find the stock rom of it anywhere on the internet. There are no guides, either. It's like this phone doesn't even exist.
Another thing is, that this phone was modified in my country to be called "A1 Alpha 20", it's the basic version, not the Plus one. I'm pretty sure there are guides for the Plus one... But the name/model is Alcatel 3L (2020) 5029Y. The phones are the same, I'm pretty sure the Alcatel 3L rom would work fine on it, too. They have the same specs as well.
It's a pretty solid phone, with good specs, not sure why nobody is talking about it. Even my older phone, Samsung J5, has a ton of guides, and of course, I installed TWRP on it and rooted it a year ago. It's working good, even to this day.
So, I'm asking for your help here, I need tips on how to root this phone. I want to know if it's possible pulling the stock firmware out of it, or just rooting it without TWRP? I can't find TWRP for it either, I'm afraid there is nothing I will be able to do for now. I have access to ADB tools and a PC, if I can maybe do something with these. I enabled OEM unlocking without having to format which means that my bootloader was unlocked? If so, could that make pulling stock images easier???
Please help me out. Thank you. For any additional information (model, build number, all info that I can pull out using applications and such) just let me know and I will tell you.
