Well its gonna be a long wait but hope it will worth it. I just want sammy to update mali drivers so that i can play nfsc and underground series

I love to be proven wrong specialy on something like this. So it looks to be

just wait for the exynox variant

In a brief interview with Tom's Guide's writer, a Samsung person told him that 8' series wouldn't be included. Tom's guide and other sites quickly made it into a big news and published it without verifying or using common sense. The news fed on the fears.
But the Samsung person all he told was 8' series wouldn't be included in the beta program along with 9' series. It's best to use common-sense, sit back, and wait for the verified/official news before going and bashing any company. Comment sections of those sites are going bonkers with too much hate and anger. LOL!
A senior Samsung official confirmed that 8' series would definitely get the Pie update with One UI and clarified the misinterpretation of the news sites.
I wouldn't expect it to hit our 8 series devices before March 2019. Maybe in June 2019.
Cheers!

Yeah that is true, as far as samsung did for older models, 8 series's last android update will be pie. Least we will get it. Also in my other thread in s8+ discussions, a member has talked with a samsung expert and that expert told him 8 series will be in beta testing and we would get a notification. User has uploaded the screenshot. Its still doubtfull if we will be in beta testing or not

the S9 korean variant just got the beta, only wait

Curious whether the Project Trouble helps to port the S9 Pie ROM to S8.

Would Samsung implement Project Treble for the S8 with the Pie update?

If we get treble with Pie, the development is gonna kickstart... I'm waiting

Who knows. Maybe, maybe not. We'll see when it comes to the device next year. But the thing is, we don't really need a major upgrade just to get treble on S8 and S8+. Samsung could implement it by just including it on monthly updates. You can actually test via adb to check if S8 already has treble in it.

Now we all know to take what chat support agents comments with a pinch of salt, but by chance I asked via the chat function in Samsung members app and they said there would be a pie beta, God knows how much truth there is in this and when it will happen, I'm on the same firmware that I beta tester oreo so il keep an eye out

I would say S8 would get the One UI earlier as its looks like in the UK, S9 is getting updates earlier than January, with the updates for US S9 likely for early January 2019. Hopefully this pattern recreates itself for the March release for S8.

I just read an article that Samsung released a roadmap for pie updates, and it shows the S8 and Note 8 will receive Android Pie March 2019

Mango release Sept 1st ?

Just found this on Pocket-lint.com ..
pocket-lint.com said:
Microsoft will roll out its latest phone operating system, currently codenamed Mango, to Windows Phone 7 users starting on 1 September, Pocket-lint has exclusively learnt. Therefore, that will be the date that the company will start its fightback against Android and the iPhone.
Multiple trusted sources have confirmed to us that the start of next month will see the new OS, available to developers over the summer, launching on new handsets, as well as becoming available to current WP7 customers.

True, but it was also a rumor that the Mango beta was going to be released to developers, and that happened. It was also a rumor that Mango was RTM, and just a couple of days later that was also confirmed.
There are a couple of good reasons to unveil it at that time. Not only would it beat Apple and Google to the punch, giving WP7 (mostly) undivided media attention for a month or so, but it would allow new devices to be announced at IFA. Seems like a good plan to me.
I would be very surprised if it was not available in time for the Build conference, so Sept 1 feels right. I certainly expect every paid Build attendee will be getting a Mango phone of some sort.

I don't, would be nice
although september first would be really ideal. TO beat the apple crunch but also for OEMs to churn out new F/W updates too
It should be landing around that time. I mean, it is done and all. So the release is immanent.
Damn if its Sep 1 for first class users like ones with branded contract wp7 users .. Than I think my unbranded, expansys unlocked German Samsung Omnia 7 will get it by Mid November .. :'(

Yea, but, after NoDO, that was a mess...
Let's hope they release it to Zune to everyone on Sept 1st but, I wonder what the carriers are going to do, if they stop it or not.
At least things look like it's possable to happen but, this did not come directly from Microsoft, so take it with a grain of salt...
It won't be coming to Zune on September 1st. That's already a given. Plus, when it is ready I expect Microsoft to release it to us on a rolling schedule, not all at once. Any release on that date will likely be in the form of new hardware announcements, and possibly the announcement of the initial schedule for delivery to existing phones.
As for Nodo, technically no carriers blocked it. If they had, there would be people out there who were still running 7004 due to carrier block, and that isn't the case. NoDo is available right now for every phone. The whole "carrier blocking" issue was a mole hill made into a mountain.
What some carriers did (which was pathetic and reprehensible) was take far too long during their internal testing and updates to their own apps. What should have been a 4 week process ended up being a 4 month process in some cases.
Whether Microsoft will be able to motivate them to be quicker this time is anyone's guess, but one thing that is different is that we know the exact date that the carriers all received the final build of Mango (and we also know that they received earlier builds as well for development purposes).
Unfortunately, for now all we can do is wait and see what happens.
Ms employees are getting it today

Someone please leak it so I don't have to wait till next year for Verizon to release it....

[PETITION] Marshmallow Update for Galaxy Note 3

Hi. Everybody. I decided to create this petition because, even if Note 3 is a 3 years old device, I appreciate it very much. I think that many of you think this like me (and we are a lot of perople), so I create this. Please sign it!
https://www.change.org/p/samsung-samsung-please-include-note-3-for-android-marshmallow-update
I forgot to ask a thing before. If you go on your country's forum or something, please share there, so even people who don't follow xda can subscribe the petition.
Make Samsung know how we appreciate this amazing device all together!!
Done.
Let it be 100% cosmetically like Lollipop, i dont care, all we need is a Marshmallow base, so we can have fun with it.
Done.
done. Having gone back to the 3 after the 7 disaster it would be nice to see the 3 get the later OS release and updates. Still a great device and runs brilliantly for me
done
Shame on you samsung s5 already got marshmallow update but we didn't, the petition is signed.
Do these petitions have any real effect? I wouldn't mind supporting one if Samsung at least considers it. But if it's going to fall on their deaf ears, then there's no point in this.
Done, I really appreciate this idea.
Done, although I don't know what actual good will come of it. :-/

Done
Done Sir, well good luck to us. And I hope Samsung finally realized that Note 3 is a beast piece of hardware.
Done!!! This is a good opportunity for Samsung to keep their customers loyal!!
Manual camera support as well
Keep it coming
Got 26 people signed in this petition,. Keep it sharing guys. On facebook groups, Hangouts and other social media platforms. :fingers-crossed:
Done.
To be honest, I don't care if samsung provide official update to MM since we already have wonderfull Marshmallow custom ROM ported by our great developers here in this forum.
But if samsung provide android 7 Nougat update, now that's a whole different story...
Done.
Signed petition.
Regards
The problem is their are multiple petitions for MM all consisting of a relatively small number .Might be a different story if those where a combined petition .

If you want Android O speak out until it's too late!

We know how shady Huawei can be about updates especially after they did not update P8 to newer version with some dumb excuse! We paid premium price for our phones! So if you want a chance to see the Android O on your device - speak out. Send them feedback mail from HiCare app. Tweet them. Post to their Facebook Page - HuaweiMobile! I will be very unhappy if my phone doesn't get the new version, especially since they didn't bother to push 7.1.1 where the shortcuts are available and some other improvements... I love this phone, but the day they announce it's not getting O I will put it for sale and NEVER EVER buy Huawei phone again.

That does nothing. The supporters on theire FB, twitter or whatever don't care about O or anything else. At the moment they prepare an emui 5.0.1 update that got leaked on Honor 8, that should arrive here soon.
Some medias say emui 5.1 arrives in november?
I dont know, but can only say, O will arrive through AOSP, means Lineage base will hit then and hope it does well then.

Most people like me are regular users and don't give a duck about custom roms. We just don't have the time and don't want to deal with it... So people like me should blast them all over the place, so we don't get only the EMUI updates, that pretty much is the same as the previous one... I don't give a duck about EMUI I can put another launcher and make my phone look the way I want... OS version is another things, always brings big improvements.
And "supporters" most of the time don't even know why they should get updates (android users) they just use what they give them.. But at least here "the more techy" ones should ask for what they have paid for... And for the price of P9 people deserve 2 OS versions, not ONE... Like other OEM are doing. Huawei is bragging how many phones they have sold, but why not take a look how many phones they sold are still supported... This OEM is complete trash, and if people remain silent, it will stay this way forever..

It's funny how you speak for everyone... I need the new version with the Icon shortcuts and no need to install another launcher to get them... I need Android O for all the new things... If you don't it's OK but don't speak for everyone else
Speak out?
To the author of the topic, with no offense but I have a strange feeling that you are not adult for long enough to know what are you expecting.
Speak out because you paid premium price? Well.. that has made my day.
Not that I am a person which will always obey whatever they say, but your speaking out through Facebook/Twitter and etc is a beatiful example of the generation which does believe, that it does make a difference.
Let's just check several things:
a) older models with were much more premium than P9 did not receive updates
b) Huawei never announced that they would even consider upgrading P9 to newest Android
c) Android/Google does not care, because they do provide clean pack to manufacturers and responsibility goes to the manufacturer
d) if you did receive phone by network provider, even if Huwaei would generate a stock update, they would provide it to the network operator and operator would decide if they would like to spend resources to upgrade "old customers"
e) Facebook/Twitter is not even operated directly by Huawei. Normally those are 3rd party companies which provides "PR/marketing online customer services" and you can even post 1000 times that you hate your phone and the only thing someone from a low level area of managers will see, will be a small .% on the excel report from 3rd party company which gives a heat map about the current overall score about Huawei compared to other brands
Good luck!
if you do like to have a newer firmware, you are in a right place. XDA. Custom ROMs or a new handset.
Welcome to 21st century for reasonable people which do think logically and don't have to post on Facebook that they have just had a burger in McDonalds.

I guess no Android 7 for Redmi 4 device

Translation if exact:
Hi everyone is
concerned about the recent part of rice noodles care about the red rice phone 4 high version with Android 7.0, this proposal we have noticed very early, and the internal communication and coordination. The latest conclusion is that the red rice cell phone 4 version with no adaptation of Android 7.0 plan. Here's a detailed description of the situation with you.
Some people say that the underlying Android is not a very simple matter? In actual fact, each time the end-of-package version upgrade is a huge project, which involves various aspects of adaptation, adjustment, etc., the actual work is very complicated. In fact, many of MIUI system features experience even earlier than the Android version, such as rights management, wake up power-saving features such as MIUI is the first. We very much hope that through the MIUI system upgrade to bring you more fun and easy to use features.
After engineers, product managers and project management departments negotiate a number of comprehensive assessment and decision, red rice cell phone 4 high version with no current Android 7.x adaptation plan. But for everyone concerned about the split screen, portal, information assistant function, as well as MIUI 9 stable version of the release plan has some new progress, and here to share with you.

Portal:
Currently supports Android 5.x and above models.
Information Assistant:
Currently supports Android 5.x and above models, Android 4.4 version of the model support does not include "My expenses", "My Favorites" two cards other information assistant function.

For the Android underlay, we also make a comprehensive evaluation based on the characteristics of different models to determine the fit plan. One possible explanation is that probably markw isn't actually a xiaomi's in-house product and they dumping it because ODM is failing to/not interested in/refusing to provide xiaomi with updated kernel/blobs. "It's too complex" explanation is too childish to be heard from technology corporation.

Not only childish but insulting too.You can't dump a phone you sell as prime/pro and people paid signifficant more money not only for better hardware but better support too. After mi2s and R4P i think i'm done with xiaomi. On top of that, it seems the new Redmi's have smaller batteries so i can't find a good reason to trust xiaomi for my next phone.

Yeah 636, the new holy grail for two more years i guess. So basically 10-15% performance bump, unknown support policy, significant smaller battery and no medium size screen.Oh right...maybe they'll make a prime version with sd 660, after 6-8 months of the first R5 release, wich will come with android 7 and stay with 7 just a few months before the R6 release.Nope...

Xiaomi constantly ignores requests on their own forum, what makes you think this petition would be noticed? I would rather suggest mass recruitment requests for beta-testing Oreo (who needs Nougat, anyway?) in a (very little) hope these requests are processed by officials (unlike forum requests that are moderated by usual users, mods there aren't xiaomi employees, afaik) and there will be some kind of output.

Android 10 got cancelled?

Hello,
today morning I saw this on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com...e_to/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
I don't know if it's true or not, but I wanted to share it ?
I posted this also in the Global Telegram group, but I got banned I don't know why, but it doesn't matter ?
Edt: Here's the direct link to MiCommunity: https://c.mi.com/thread-2830599-1-0.html?utm_source=share&utm_medium=twitter
The phone launched with Oreo (and it's an Android one phone)
They must update to Android 10 like the A2 (must get at least 3 years of security updates) the A2 lite launched the same day as the A2
U can be calm about it and don't believe the chat support?
I personally dont care what call center says. But if its true Xiaomi will lose our and Google's respect. That means they will join Huawei ban caravan. Another reason for Xiaomi ban. Xiaomi doesnt want ban, arent you Xiaomi?
Usual clueless support staff. I'm sure we'll get the update... probably after A3, so march (...?)
If you look at the screenshot, "Xiaomi support dude" is saying that Mi A2 will get Android 10 within this week (written at 22 Jan 2020). I might be mistaken but, considering that Mi A2 got the update about two weeks ago, we can conclude that Xiaomi support dudes know nothing at all lol.
Time to go custom rom if this is true.
C'mon guys. I know we're all tired of waiting but we all should know by now that Xiaomi support has no more information than we have.
We will get the 10 update either way we don't know when
The guy is clearly clueless. Speaking to Xiaomi reps on chat is like trying to measure both position and speed of a subatomic particle: The indetermination principle forbids you from gathering all the relevant information at once .
The A2 Android 10 update got pulled out last week, since it was less than half baked, and it was causing a plethora of different issues. It should be resuming now. This obviously impacts us, since the small number of developers Xiaomi devotes to the A1 program can barely deal with the issues of cooking a ROM for one device at the time. On top of that, most of the Xiaomi guys on chat don't even have a clue of the difference between MIUI and Android One.
So let's all calm down here, and wait until they consider the A2 issues solved. I for one know I won't be Guinea pigging for Xiaomi, and will surely wait a couple of weeks after they release the A10 OTA to update my device.

Hello,
today morning I saw this on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/com...e_to/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

It has to get Android 10 by the rules of Android one. Xiaomi can't break the rules

No, it's actually really good that someone is writing about it. If nothing, it will get some views and might grab attention of some bigger media causing bigger impact. It's a shame that you can get Q up and running from community members that don't get anything from it and do it in their free time but the manufacturer fails to do so. Community ROMs might not be perfect, but stock is neither.

The phone launched with Oreo (and it's an Android one phone)
They must update to Android 10 like the A2 (must get at least 3 years of security updates) the A2 lite launched the same day as the A2
U can be calm about it and don't believe the chat support

In theory, yes, but Google also agreed it's up to the manufacturers, so, if they behave like they did with other devices in the past, they might not bring an update to Android 10, only giving security patches.

Not in a theory. Xiaomi signed agreement.
Xiaomi have no excuse!
The agreement is to provide monthly updates for at least 3 years.
Can't find anywhere that they are obligated to upgrade two Android versions.
