Radio leak / removed threads

A few threads have been removed the past few hours. These are regarding a leaked radio which is known to brick devices and has been taken from a compromised server.
Reposting will not be tolerated. Distribution through PM, or even hinting that you may be available to spread it through PM or other methods, will be treated as open reposting. "Vacations" will be dealt out to those who do so.
This is both for your own good as for the good of others. Some of you are able to read between the lines - I have read it in your posts - and good for you.
Have patience, it will come.

So that new radio that dissapeared is Mega crap also huh? How did wwe figure this out if knowone hardly has it. Just wondering I read it was an older version then the one currently being used by people like me. Is that a fact?

I think the important thing is to protect sources. Not sure if it is bricking or not. Though I don't want to be the one to find out.

bamf team is coming out with a new sense 3.0 rom(there is a preview zip available in the bamf 2 beta thread) so im guessing there is something coming soon, he seemed to stop once the brick issue came about, so why else would they and others update and create new roms for GB radios.

It wont brink you, its just to protect sources and legal issues probably. Im using it and its much better than the first leak, only got one reboot in the few hours my phone was on

The fact that we have an MR2 Radio means GB could be right around the corner. I have had one reboot with it, (although that might have been a fluke, as the phone had 3% battery left), and so far it is very stable, and I wouldn't be surprised to see an official build out soon.

I emailed the N beta team to see if I could participate and this is the response I got.

I didnot register first time
And for past couple days i was getting server error.
Now it shows i can register but at the end it says maximum reached but maybe i thnk they will expand.....hope so i want the nougat badly

If they find a way to kick all of the Verizon beta users who are using the beta update against Samsung's will then maybe they will expand it for legitimate users.

I miss the good ol' days when the Odin files for future updates were leaked regularly. But that was like 5 Galaxies ago.

In case something goes massively wrong they don't have to replace thousands of phones instead of hundreds. They did just have to do something like that.

The smaller the group the easier it is for them to fix the reported bugs. Why would they want 100,000 betas instead of 10,000 it is easier for them to not have as many suggestions and bug reports.

I am just curious but why is everyone running to Nougat? It is my understand that there isn't any root yet out for it. Unless I haven't read enough.

from others experience,it's faster compared to tmo apk1 mm and battery is also better..
i can stay widout root bcoz phone gets hot compared to stock one........

Note the email header - Korean script - which means this is being run directly from there and they could care less about how anyone over here feels about the program.

Anyway, they limit the numbers of beta testers likely because they don't have server capacity to handle everyone who wants it, for bug reports and other metrics. And they probably only require a certain sample size and don't want more people than they need. They are doing the beta for them, not for you to have early access to 7.0.

After the Note 7 they're gonna want all the bug reports they can get.. They need to have 0 issues with this update when it goes live... Any small issue will be exaggerated greatly due to the note 7. They're projected to lose over 5 Billion dollars. That's a lot of spare change right there! Since the s7 edge is what they're replacing notes with, as well as pushing it like crazy now with a new round of advertising, they need it to be perfect.

I am not from usa fyi....so no English is not my first language....
And about beta program i understand that they cant increase the limit.. it was just my opinion i expressed....which i am allowed to do i thnk so....
I was pissed off i couldnot get into beta so i expressed my opinion about this....

English isn't my first language either, fyi. It's one thing to make syntax and grammatical errors, and it's easy to tell when someone makes mistakes typical to non-native speakers. Nobody would ever fault you for that. But typing like you're a 12 year old girl (see urself, gr8, evry1, etc) has nothing to do with being a non-native English speaker. If you are indeed a 12 year old girl, please accept my apologies. But if you are an adult, cut out the ridiculous shorthand and communicate like an adult.
As to your second point, nobody told you that you could not express your opinion. In fact, I'm pretty sure I answered your question. Also, they could very well increase the limit for the beta in the future.

I do understand both sides to be honest. I understand some people do expect to be "spoon fed" and have no intention of trying anything on their own or contributing. I also understand asking a few question here and there. I personally regret not being able to try every new thing that comes out, I work 50+ hours a week and rely on my phone for work, so I can't always be the first to jump in there and test new ROMs even though I would enjoy doing so.
It's not really my place to point out what was said by anyone in the past, I just couldn't help but notice. Honestly, when I read your original posts, I agreed with them for the most part, but I do see the other side, wanting a few details before wasting time. No hard feelings at all. I do also see both sides of the coin.

Okay yeah, I'll keep testing. But it seems very smooth, and the battery icon settings seem to work, which is nice. I'm gonna test soon and see if speakerphone works, hopefully it does! It seems to have no problem with videos cutting to the end like I've seen with CM and Aicp, so woohoo!

no problem

Working great so far. Haven't messed with the speakerphone, but I never use it anyway. The only issue I've noticed so far is video playback in Facebook isn't working. It only plays briefly than stops on most videos. Playback works elsewhere. Could be a FB issue. I've noticed most Nougat ROMs I've used are VERY snappy. This one especially.

I doubt it will roll at the end of this month. Everyday Im checking Early access in HiCare, and there where no any beta test available, not even mentions about it.
There is no way that Huawei would just like that publish next big update without proper test, like we had with 5.0
True that Huawei is not best at rolling updates, but still when you compare it to ther OEMs its no difference at all, and all other companies have test before publishing major updates, and because they are region dependent, we should saw at least few roms based on 5.1 roam around forum from Asia or Europe.

Well this news is from the Official Huawei site so we should be expecting these roll outs as scheduled. May be not OTA as it will have delays but on the Firmware Finder App.

I guess nothing we can do but wait for it to come. Hopefully this news is legit...

Why test at all if its still Android? Why test if its still a phone? Why test if most of people buy new phone after 2years? Why test if 90% of people that use android, dont even know what screen resolution their phone have?
maybe because EMUI 5.1 have few new features that affect user experience? Maybe because they fix/make new bugs when implementing those features?

@Akinaro, let me say this.
They have P10 to test all things and just backport to P9, so they tested it since last november. If we clearly look, they only changed code of 5.0 and added the features to it. Its not a major update from google, just one from huaweis side, that only changed their own code.
Bugs can be everywhere, look on latest B383 and B386. We can also think, if they allready testing some code in this builds.
The EVA-L19C185B387 got allready something of that, a new kernel build 5.0.0.3, as SP1 marked, so they doing and mostly ditched to release official builds on 5.0 to work on 5.1.

You just prove my point....

that this update would need beta testing just like any other rom, and overall is rather not possible that Huawei would release globally that update for P9 before end of this month.
On the side not part of this discussion what about seriously useless reasoning of dkionline that say "just because its based on android 7 i doesnt need testing".
Such thinking need to be pointed out as stupid, if someone like it or not.

Mate, you get any betatest from emui4 to 4.1 or 4.1 to 4.1.1 or anything else? No, they release it after its done.

Nothing new!!!! Phone vendors lie so much!

Android 10 state on XDA

so I bought the 3a a few days ago, and I updated to Android 10. Wanting to install TWRP, I saw it wasn't available for the latest version yet. I know if I wanna root I can just flash the boot.img, but that's not why I'm here :
- are we gonna get TWRP anytime soon? I would prefer to wait for it
- haven't seen a custom ROM with Q/10 yet. Is it expected anytime soon too?
- Should we get multi rom support one day?
Given that there isn't any major feature in 10, I could just go back but I can wait a few weeks too.

Given the current enthusiasm, or lack thereof with regard to Android 10 for this line of Pixels, I dont see much development happening soon if at all. I dont know why though its a great phone. I had the Pixel 3 when it came out and I do not miss that phone at all now that I have the 3a.

Every update is different. I assure you they are working on it as quickly as possible. I believe there are some major file and partition changes that are creating a pretty big hurdle they have to get over.

People don't decide to move faster based on these passive approaches of suggesting "they don't care." We both know this was a sneaky troll attempt. No one will bite, I assure you. They are just going to continue at the normal speed they can.

The 3a is the first phone I've gotten where I don't see any need for a custom rom. It's great just the way it is.

Exactly that. Only thing really missing is built in call recording and better sound quality through headphones.

Overall? yes you are right.
But i miss some feats like
Hide battery icon
Get rid of album art at lockscreen
Double tap lockscreen to sleep
...
Just small things that wont hurt that much ^^

Indeed. My needs are basic, bt for auto, maps for directions, and I add some of my own apps. I can definitely understand where those smarter and more adept than me like to test, tinker and experiment. I'm nearing 70 and I like this phone for dependability.
Oh yes and not a lot of bloatware.

I assume it was just an assessment and he wasn't trying to troll or anything, just saying the community around Android 10 isn't very enthousiast. No value judgment.

You can toggle the battery icon inside the power settings

It is nice that you are extending a lot of latitude in lending the benefit of the doubt on this. The fact of the matter is that his claim was baseless. Android 10 has barely been out for a couple weeks. And to be honest, I have seen a lot of enthusiasm for it before and after. The truth is, that the whole "nobody cares" approach is used to cause a stir that the OP or replier is setting up as a challenge... as if the DEVs are failing and they need to get their sh*t together. It is a tired tactic that I am sick of seeing. It is subtle trolling. Even if he is the exception to the rule, I see this approach used too often and I think it does more harm than good to the userbase who counts on these DEVs (who by the way, don't get paid for their hard work).

Spot on brother, thank you. I have been around since the inception of Android and have been developing since day one. I have seen what great dev enthusiasm looks like and have seen devices get lost even though they are great devices. The Pixel 3a is a great device and everyone here is right it doesnt need that much in the way of custom roms. My hope is that it wont get lost esp when the Pixel 4 comes out. Not gonna take the bait on the haters who try to pick apart everything people say and turn it into something bad. This is a great community of Android enthusiasts helping other Android enthusiasts.

You sound like you want an argument to be honest. Maybe head over to reddit.

I can say that I'm not wild about Q, and was perfectly happy on P, but 99% of the reason I bought this phone was for the DSDS support which as far as I can tell, is completely dependent on Q at this point in time (and I'm assuming always will be). I've also been using CM/LineageOS for years now, and that's typically the 3rd thing I do to a new phone when I get it, behind unlock BL/root. I will say I'm a bit disappointed that LOS official isn't yet available for the 3a, but on the other hand, I totally get it with Q being so fresh.
I'd love to be one of the guys that is helping out with the dev side, but I've had so many irons in the fire with other projects for so many years that I just don't have time to do Android stuff as well. But I will say that I HUGELY appreciative of all the work that the devs have done for the community, and I will gladly wait for them to work their magic, especially considering we could all be playing the jailbreak cat and mouse game along with "damn it! the phone just updated, and I can't roll back to the version the JB supports now!".

Those are the best kind of arguments. Dishonest arguments suck.
Development will eventually happen for A10. After all, eventually all new phones will use it, or beyond. Anyone who complains about lack of development should learn how to do development and fix the issue themselves. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.
