Warning: the November update may mess up your device!
This morning I found a notification that the November update was available for my device, so I installed it of course.
After the reboot, my phone stopped working: the screen wallpaper flashed briefly a couple of times, displayed the message "System UI has stopped", then it shut itself off and restarted in recovery, where I had the choice to try again or factory reset.
This same issue occurred on the Mi A2 with the November update (see here), so I knew that a factory reset would probably not help, but restarting without the SIM would.
Having done some further investigations online, it seems there are only 2 ways to solve the issue:
Start the phone without a SIM card
Change the system language to English
I hope this information helps others who experience the same issue after the November update.
I did not have any problem with this update. I installed it on Magisk and October update. Phone booted normally.

If your phone language was English (or maybe just "not Dutch") you may indeed not be affected. Lucky you

Are you from the Netherlands? Inside the Mi A2 forums I read that only dutch people had these problems.
Edit: I should have read the whole thread. At least I can says no problems here with German as language.

I'm from Belgium (Flanders) so I had the Dutch language set.
Now that I think of it, it was set to Dutch/Netherlands, maybe it would help to set it to Dutch/Belgium. One difference is that the Google Assistant only works for Dutch/NL. Which may or may not be related.
Edit: Didn't work, the problem seems to be directly linked to the Dutch language.

Would be interesting to see if other Android One devices have the same bug or if it's Xiaomi's fault.

After some googling, it seems that only the Mi A2 (jasmine) is experiencing this too. Makes me think it's a Xiaomi thing, not Android One/Google.
Of course I may be wrong...
No problems on my A2 Lite. Installed it this morning without any hiccups - phone is stock.
Is there other fixes included except the security update? Update size was about 200 MB, september was around 80 MB if I'm not mistaken.
Update: removing the SIM PIN code also seems to fix the problem (language set to Dutch / Netherlands and everything still works).
Just installed November patch... No issue whatsoever...

Do you:
use English language?
have no SIM card in your phone?
have a SIM card without a PIN code?
as these are the only work-arounds that remedy the bootloop on my device (Dutch language, Belgian SIM card).
No issues here, language is Portuguese-BR.
I think that this update fixed the "phone wakes up in pocket" issue. Need to test more.

Hi. i am from italy and after the november update still i cant use my dual sim option. the second slot can not recognise any sim...any help with this problem?? thank you. but the phone booted normally
Same problem. Phone crashes after the november update.
- Language: Dutch (Belgium)
- Pin code for SIM
Removing the pin code solves the issue.

Hi, so doesn't it have conflict on a rooted A2? .. The mine has Magisk with Xposed.. Could I try it?

You have to uninstall Magisk while applying OTA - just follow this guide:

Can I ask any SIM FREE Nokia 3 users in UK if they have received the Android 8.0 update as of May 19th?
I suspect my network could be to blame for the delay, as I'm using PLUSNET (which piggybacks the EE network)
The device is currently on android 7.1.1 and was purchased from the carphone warehouse in Norwich brand new and SIM free some six weeks ago.
I'm also experiencing a strange occurrence after a factory reset.
The EE app keeps getting automatically installed after a factory reset, which is strange because I'm not an EE customer!
Can anyone confirm their update in UK or explain why the EE app is getting installed to a sim free device after initial set up?

It's not just you I am on Three UK as is my friend both devices are sim free and his has never been rooted or bootloader unlocked. The Carrier app's get installed due to some .xml settings in the CDA Partition which check the network id number and then install the appropriate app if one exists.
Not sure why the UK is one of the last to get the official Oreo update but hopefully it will very arrive soon. :fingers-crossed:

Well, I've got the update but the process is a little long winded and had a hiccup along the way.
So, you need to remove the SIM card.
factory reset.
Sign into WiFi and Google account.
Select to restore your back up (this can be skipped if desired)
Once the back up is restored, connect to a Finland VPN
(I used express VPN from playstore)
Check for system updates, it will give you the android 8.0 notification.
Select to download
(I had to download it twice as the first time I encountered a verification error)
Allow to install.
After reboot replace sim card.
The process takes roughly 45 minutes to complete.
Edit
I've just read on Reddit there is an issue with all Nokia devices receiving any system updates in UK that Nokia / HMD will not confirm.
It's not good we have to factory reset and select other nations VPN to get system updates.

Cheers for the info. :good:
Is the TA-1020 available in India
If it's not then that would explain why the Indian VPN did not work.
I will wait and see if they sort it out as I am on the Oreo Beta anyway and now they have released the Kernel source my aim would be to try build LineageOS or some other OS.
If anyone with the TA-1020 who has installed the official Oreo could pull the system, boot and recovery with SPFlashTool for me that would be great as I would like to use the none beta Oreo for building the device and vendor trees. :fingers-crossed:
PS:
BTW What is the Kernel version on the Official Oreo as they have released the 3.18 version and I was kinda expecting the 4.4 version.

I've haven't yet had under full strength signal on 3G or 4G, but I've only had the 8.0 for update 24 hours so I'll keep my eye on it.
Battery is much better on Oreo, last 3 to 4 hours longer than 7.1.1

Did you try the VPN trick without the factory reset?
I don't understand why HMD aren't providing the files to flash manually as that would help get the update out to the UK faster.

OK, so maybe it's a bug that clears up after the factory reset. I know that on reddit some people are saying that just removing the SIM and clearing the Google Services Framework works as well so I'll give that a try and see what happens.

Yes I read the Reddit posts regarding clearing Google play services data and that was the first step I tried (as well as removing the sim)
That didn't work so I then spent last weekend using the factory reset / VPN method, but I found the India VPN method didn't work either.
I did not have any success with getting the 8.0 update notification until I factory reset and tried the Finland VPN, which worked fine.
I would be careful using the VPN method as one person on the Nokia Support forums has had issues with mobile data:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000025647
It could also be related to the fact that there are two different versions of the Nokia 3, the TA-1032 and the TA-1020. The TA-1032 seems to be receiving the Oreo update but the TA-1020 seems to have been forgotten.

I am not in the same situation, and I don't understand why the update doesn't just get updated from settings=>system &updates=>software update.
I remember having some problem with moving to ten though. I messaged huawei a polite query through one of their apps. Probably Hicare. They didn't respond, but within 36 hours an automatic update came through... coincidence? Not sure, but worth a try rather than try to procure an OS Sim... don't think that sounds too legit in this day and age.

I reached out to hicare and the rep said my device belongs to Singapore. But sadly there are international limitations. She said updates are released depending on region and so foreign devices might not receive the update on time or won't receive it at all. She suggested I try to update my 20x using HiSuite. She also recommended I talk to huawei customer care in singapore. She provided the weblink to them.
When you called hicare did you chat with a rep? How did you communicate this to huawei that resulted in a solution?
What do you suggest?

Unfortunately this doesnt work. I changed language to chinese and singapore in hi care. No update.
Huawei in singapore emailed saying since my device is made in singapore that the only way to update is to use a sim from singapore and be in the singapore area which is ridiculous.
I've looked at sim cards on amazon and ebay. Apart from the cost theyre shipping times call for delivery in June which again is ridiculous. Do you know of a way to get a singapore sim card soon in USA?

Hi TAJ_Rocks,
Thanks for the followup. Its been factory reset since I got the used phone last week from ebay already reset. I already installed hisuite and am still unable to update that way.
So I think the 2 other options are dload method and sim card from singapore.
But if I use the sim card option to update to 10, will huawei send security updates afterwards?

Hey TAJ_Rocks,
Yeah thanks for that. Someone on another one of my threads said the same thing. I plan to use the dload method to install 10 on my phone. The thing is, I need an Adapter Cable Type C to USB A. I ordered it and am awaiting delivery to use in the dload method. Hopefully it shows up this week fingers crossed. Thank for your help and replies!

Problem now is DLOAD method only works if we have the firmware for our model EVR-L29 and region code C636 for example.
But I cannot find them. So now what?
Hi all,
Just got my x2 down under in Australia. It came with firmware CPH2025_11_A.15. And this is the firmware listed on the Oppo Australia site as the latest.

[Camera]

Question can i flash this version from UK? Has anyone tried and if so what is the method to use?
Thanks very much! (will push thanks!)
I flash this version over my version on my X2 Pro (which bought in France, Orange shop) and everything is fine so for me yes you can.
As long as you flash a firmware with the right model numnber (CH2025), which is the case here
Should be OK, as previously stated. Also be aware though, that the A.x number doesn't appear to correlate to anything. Some higher numbers are actually older? I also got an OTA update to A.22 after previously having UK version. This doesn't show on the website?
Thanks guys! (click!)

Don't think so. Just totally random numbering. V22 deffo came OTA ?
You download it on your phone (downloads folder). Then you reboot in bootloader nd from there you will see "update firmware" or something like that and somewhere else it's written "update from device", at that moment you will have to find the file in the "downloads" folder.

Something strange about these versions. i was on .21 (Thai dual sim), decided to clean install the UK version .18. Didn't do any changes (still had some Thai applications), then i went back to the software update section of settings, and there, surprise i see "update to .21" and it didn't change anything. I can't get the .22 (i tried to find it only, VPN, nothing...) and Even the .22 apparently also has may security patch and we are the 12th of June. So it's very odd.
Now this is where it gets interesting. on my thai phone, i don't have the option of using 5g in my sim settings (yes i have 5G with my carrier and i've used it already on another phone. Apparently there are "rumors" that The Thai version will be updated with a Firmware that will enable the dual sim on that "version". So... i'm really wondering how come that the Uk, Swiss, etc version have working 5G ... and not the thai.

Everything works after update.
Mine is AU single sim version. I was looking everywhere in AU for dual-sims CPH2025 as well but nobody is selling them. Only way I found is to import one myself from Thailand but couldn't be bothered. I'm also concern about after sales service, warranty etc so I end up buying locally. Saving me from potential headache
Device: SM-S908E/DS
Region: India
Carrier: Airtel
OS: Android 13 (One UI 5.0 Stable)
I have been facing network issues after installing the latest OneUI 5.0 stable update officially through the Samsung OTA. Immediately after the reboot, the network automatically switched to 2G and hasn't upgraded to 4G LTE/5G since then. During the beta, I had 5G working for 3-4 weeks flawlessly.
Is someone else facing the same issue? I have since done a complete factory reset twice, sideloaded the latest stable update manually via adb. What else can I try? Samsung and Airtel both have asked me to wait 15 days to get this issue resolved.
Try that sim in another phone. Some airtel sims are falling
I have the same kind of issue after UI 5.0 update - Belgium European version.
I 'm randomly missing calls, don't receive sms. Tried sim card in another device no issue. Only way to solve is going in airplane mode and going back to normal mode but it does not solve the issue.
Also did factory reset but it did not solve the issue. Hoping November update to come with fix or new kernel/modem.

Hello Mario,
I managed to solve it by removing my secondary sim card, it seems that it was conflicting with the main one. Since then no more issues but it was 3 months ago and did not test back with two sim cards and i got 4 or 5 updates since then.

Maybe tro to move your sim card from one slot to the other one and test back. Also try with another sim card if possible, or with your current sim card in another phone.

Can i contact samsung for replace or from my service provider where i got it?
Register you device with emei on Samsung site and ask for repair, i think it's always better to pass by Samsung directly. Hope you kept the invoice.

hello everyone. I made the translation from google, sorry if I'm wrong. my phone is oneplus 8t as it says in the title. I've been using it for 3 months, for the last 2 weeks my phone disconnects after creating the sim card connection and this keeps happening. I tried a lot of solutions, sent it to the repairman but the result is still the same. does anyone know a solution? Thank you to everyone who has already helped. I sit at the computer in the evenings and it may be too late for me to reply and test. I'm sorry for that. You can be sure that I will follow and try everything written. I'll get back to you when I try it. If what I wrote can't explain the situation for you, I can upload a video next time.
Hello!
First of all check that sim card is good.
Try swapping it in another sim slot.
It it doesn't help you can change it in your carrier office.
If it's not sim issue, you can reset network settings in android settings.
Or update OOS firmware to the latest one.

I tried everything you said before :/ I tried resetting the phone completely and reinstalling it. I have installed the latest updates but the problem is not solved. It seems to me that there is a problem with the motherboard. Thank you for the help. I hope there will be others who offer different solutions.
