[Q] Do I delete my old rom before puting on new one

Do I need to delete my old rom that is currently installed(htc HD2) before i install a new rom: or does it overwrite the old rom and replace it with the new one. If it doesn't replace the new rom where do i look for the old rom data saved on my phone so I don't delete something I shouldn't have deleted.
Thanks
If you're moving to another rom then you should do a full wipe to avoid any problems later. Use Titanium Backup to backup your system data so you can restore them all back after installing a new rom.

[Q] using apps 2 sd on mutiple roms

Is there any way to use the apps I moved to sd on multiple roms? i want to be able to install a rom and use the files from the apps2sd when i reinstall my apps from titamium backup. I use DroidSail Super Apps2SD (root) to move my apps and Titanium Backup to resore my apps on a new rom .So everytime I install a new Rom and restore my apps and data using titanium , I have to move the apps to sd again and its taking up so much room on my sd card. Also If i do a nandbackup of each rom will the process still work as far as being able to just have one apps2sd folder ?

Differences in backups

What is the difference in the data that is backup'd between a nandroid backup, titanaium backup, and a program like mybackup pro? does one of these do all data? i want to be able to backup all my phones setting's, sms, etc and also my apks and the game saves but i don't need the files that games download. some games like gta 3 and max payne download like 400-800 mb fo game data. i could do that after i run the game again from a restore but would like the game saves. i have done a backup before using adb and the size of the backup was 1:1 of the phones sd card. also with a nandroid backup does it store the rom as well? say i flash a custom rom and don't like it, do i have to flash the stock rom and then restore or can i just restore and it flash the rom that was on with the restore? if the rom isn't stored with the backup then can i use the backup of the stock rooted rom that i would make before flashing a custom rom and restore it to that rom? Thanks

Switching to a custom ROM and keeping all apps/data

So I am considering possibly installing one the CM ROMs on my Explorer (I guess CM10 if there's a stable ROM). However, I don't want to lose any of my apps or data (e.g. saves in games, settings in various apps, messages, contacts etc.). Right now I am on stock ROM with DarkTremor's a2sd script and all my apps and data on the SD-EXT partition. What would be the best method to make the transition? Backup all apps with Titanium Backup and restore once I install the new ROM? Or is there some way to install a new ROM and keep the apps on my EXT partition working?
If there's no easy way to do it, I'll probably stick to stock ROM. I don't really want to have to reinstall all my apps manually.
Some of your data is in sdcard, so no worries, contacts should be synced to Google, and messages can be backed up with Titanium Backup(Pro?).
Titanium Backup Free can back up and restore apps and app data(includes settings), but not batch, so you have to get Pro or back up/restore all your apps one by one.
However, transition from Sense GB to CM JB/ICS is super-massive, so don't report any bugs if you choose to restore system data.

Titanium backup is the best tool for backup and restoring apps. Get the Pro version its worth it, i change ROMs like in a day or two so i always have a backup with data of all my apps and whether u are coming from gb to ics/jb or going back to gb , just restore the apps. And dont ever restore system apps on a new ROM it is not recommended and csn create instability.
I hope this helps

I already have TB Pro, so no worries there. Thanks for the reassurance, I may look into this further. I've been getting more and more fed up of GB when I keep seeing new devices with ICS or JB, think it might be time to make the switch.
So I can restore all user apps and data, but I should leave out system data? Sounds OK, I don't think I'll lose much by not restoring system data.
Yup I do the same.. Just the system apps.. and keep a copy of the titanium backup ( with apk as i use the free version ) on my comp.. System data wont mostly restore as GB and CM10 are almost incompatible.. you will get loads of fcs..
Hit thanks If i helped !

you do not restore system data on any ROM. It will cause FCs. You should only restore apps and app data

[Q] Rom flashing help

I have a rooted Galaxy tab 3 running the stock rom. I would like to flash a custom rom, but would like to know if I can do this without losing all of my data and settings. I have access to my corporate email and calendar via Maas 360 app. Currently, one of the requirements is not having a rooted device, but I was able to fool it using root cloak.
I have Titanium Pro installed and have everything backed up. I also have TWRP recovery installed. Is it possible to flash a new ROM and reinstall all of my apps (data, settings) without messing up the Maas 360 account?
Thanks!
Hi,
If you install a custom ROM on your device, all data will be lost (excluding the SD card).
If you backup and restore your apps/data using titanium backup all the apps will be the same as before. But some apps may not work.
I advise to make a full nandroid backup using TWRP to recover your phone if anything goes wrong.
