Hey guys I got myself Pixel 3 yesterday and drained the battery to zero and started system and kept on charging.. it took 2 hours to full charge. Just wanted to confirm that is it same with everyone else here?
Post your charge times from 0 to 100 here
Yeah the supposed fast charge Google advertises sucks
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Very slow...I saw the ampere meter, and it shows that 14w ish maximum and 10w for average. I guess it may take 2 hours from 0 to 100. Suck google
And they advertise "7 hours of use with just 15 minutes of charge" lol.
Pixels have awfully slow charging times. Can't rely on them. Mate 20 Pro takes 65 minutes to charge a 4200mah battery from 0 - 100. You get 15W wireless on that. Pixel stand will charge the Pixel 3 just as quickly as the cable as it's around 10W haha.
Yup.. Charging is too slow.. Infact, the charging time estimated (which is shown on the lock screen when the phone is being charged) is also wrong.. May be it gets adjusted over time...
A wired charge is about 90 minutes. The wireless is another story because only Google Certified Wireless chargers do the "rapid" charge. Mine can do 10w on almost all phones except the Pixel 3... which runs at 5w.
I think that the charge is quicker at first, then slows down as the battery nears 100

How long does it typically take to fully charge your phone from about 30% or so? I have noticed that it takes really long to charge, I have had mine on charge for 4 or 5 hours and its only at 88%.
Usually about 3 hours here.

Same, I would say about 3 hours.
I'm going to let it run down and time it. Something is definitely not right. If I put it charging when I go to bed it is not fully charged by the time I wake up.
Thread moved to Q&A.
Well the default charger is 0.15A right ?
I am using my Galaxy Tab's charger which is 2A and i get a full charge in like 1 hour.
The charger that came with it is a .7A I am using a 1A though.
I think I might have found the problem. The app "craigsphone" installed a service that was using 79% cpu. I tried killing it and it would come back. So I uninstalled it, now just have to test out to see if it charges faster.
I bought my phone on it's release day, and up until about a week or two ago, it's taken a VERY long time to charge up -literally all night long. But for some reason, it seems to have started charging faster here recently. It now only takes about 3 hours to charge up, from being near completely dead. I don't understand why this has apparently happened, but I'm not complaining lol.
-of course, I'm speaking of charging via the included wall charger. USB charging still takes all night for me
ikarma,
it depends on your charger.
I have 2 chargers:
- Original from HTC Desire
- Unknown brand
Both produce output 1000 mA (1A).
The time to charge from 4% to 100%:
- HTC charger = 4 hours
- Unknown brand = 6 hours
Here what I have done to this finding:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917075
So again, it depends on your charger!
Probably my unknown brand does not really produce 1000 mA.
Bottom line, there are different quality chargers out there! Choose wisely

Wow, I'm dreaming of 1 hour...
Let me know where to buy such charger?
My default charger needs 4h15Min
I plugged my Samsung fast charger into my S6 when the battery level was at 65% and then plugged my older non fast charger in and the time remaining gave me similar times on both chargers.
I thought fast charger was meant to be a lot faster ?
I've never charged from completely flat yet.
Fast charge is only for the first 40-50 % then it gets the charging rate of a normal charger...
Marketing magic
Although it does help for a quick boost.. if you're in a hurry to get some juice in the phone.

Samsung's adaptive fast charger varies from 1 - 2A. So the maximum rate is 2A, which is not any faster than other 2A charger.
How long would it take to charge from 0-50% and 0-100% ?

For me it takes 75 minutes from about 15% to 100%.
0-100 % is 125 minutes. That is the fastest on the market IIRC
First and foremost, our fast chargers "charge" our phones at 9.0V ~1,67A
Hello.
Can someone explain me how on earth does fart charging works on this device?
I've tried the included cable and charger, third party chargers and i don't see any fast charging going on?!? or any indication on screen that it's happening.
I've read somewhere that you need a special cable to use with the included charger (?!?!) is this true? where do you get this cable?
Phone is amazing but the charging part is really is really weird if you ask me.
Thanks.

it doesnt show any fast charging message, so i wouldnt rely on such a message to make sure its working. just use the included cable and charger and ull be fine it takes about 2.5 hours to charge from 0-100% via fastcharge

Yeah ...That's why I asked. I plugged a meter to the charger and never saw it go more than 5v 2a.
I think it needs a special cable for the 9v but I can't find any info.
2.5h is not fast charge. My old s6 edge plus used to take around 70-80 m from 5-100% if if you put the remaining 1000mah shouldn't take that long lol
Mean in 30 min 40% recharge . My phone 0 -100% charged in 2:00
trust me, it is fast charge
calculate for yourself: original huawei charger is rated at 9V 2A, thats 18W total. 2A is 2000 mA. mate 8 battery is 4000 mAh.
best case scenario: 4000 mAh / 2000 mA = 2h
now add to that the extra time it needs to charge from 85-100%, because at 85% it automatically slows down charging to prolong the health of the battery and youre at the 2.5h FAST CHARGING time
also, i dont believe for a SECOND that the S6 edge+ charged that fast in your case. check this review: http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-plus-review-battery-life-and-verdict-page-6
"Fast charging comes as standard with the S6 Edge+ and it works. It charged from 0 to 100% in just 1 hour 45 minutes. Samsung claims wireless charging has also been improved – it’s 27% faster on the Edge+ compared to the normal S6 and S6 Edge."
so thats 105 minutes for 3000 mAh. add to that 33.3% to get to 4000 mAh and u get a total charging time of..... 140 minutes. which is 2 hours and 20 minutes

I will make a full test from 0 to 100. I only charged from 40 to 100 and it took way more than 2 hours... that's why i asked if any special cable was needed. And as i told i mesured the charging rate coming out of the charger and never passed the 5V.
As for non Believing. It's REALLY pisses me off when people write that crap. Why would I lie? what would i gain from it? I sold the phone because i wasn't happy with it.... On the contrary and in case you don't know most sites like the ones you post are PAID to give positive reviews.
I checked with including charger and cable and the app Ampére and it charged with 2800mah. So, in ideaal situation it means a charging time of a proximity 1h and 26min. That means "fast charging". At least in my opinion. ?

that doesnt make sense what ure saying because in this case the site actually stated a HIGHER amount of minutes that it would take the s6 edge plus to fully charge from 0-100% so what now, theyre getting paid to write negative reviews as well?
also, no, ure not "gaining" anything from that, but people tend to exaggerate a lot, do a quick "drive by" in a thread and post random statements based on non-correctly remembered experiences and this is exactly how false statements are converted into "truths / facts". read my post and tell me where exactly i listed anything wrong. check various reviews on the mate 8, they all stare the same thing: about 2.5h for a full charge, give or take 10-20 min. it also compares perfectly with the charging time of the s6 edge+ in terms of mAh/min, and in fact these two phones are indeed VERY close, mate 8 being at 49mAh/min and the s6 series at around 50-52, so just marginally faster... which, again, is also represented by the numbers i listed in my post before
and again: there is NO extra message or notification stating ure in fast charge mode on the mate 8, it just does its job, thats it!
if ure getting slower charging rates / voltages, make sure to use the original charger and original cable and both with a proper high voltage power outlet.

I noticed the fast charging only really kicks in if you leave your phone alone. But if you keep using it while it's charging, it just charges at regular speed. But the moment I put the phone down and screen of for 5 minutes, it quick charges like crazy

I hadn't tested this. After i turn off my phone, a few minutes later it jumps to 9V 2A on my meter. If you turn it back on it goes down to 5V 1A. Must be a phone security thing, which is kinda cool in a way if you ask me.
Btw Apparently quick charge works with non original chargers too. I have a Cheotech 60W 6 port usb with 2 Quick charge ports (which supports 9V 2A/ 12V 1.5A) and it works Using the original cable though.
Don't use fast charging unless you really need it.
Always fast charging overnite (when you're not actually using the phone for many hours) can only shorten your battery longevity more quickly then with normal charging.

When I'm going to recharge for many hours overnite I use a 1A travel charger.
i guess thats the best way to restrict charging amperage although it shouldnt hurt the battery so much, considering that the amperage drops off sharply once level reaches 85% and above...
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10 using Tapatalk
Charging a phone with a lower rated current, will cause the charger to "try and match" the current requested.
Amps work in that manner, the device determines the draw. For example, using a 5v 5a (theoretical device) on a 5v 1a device will likely melt your adapter / screw up your phone from improper voltages.
In that case, an adapter may heat up, or if its smart enough (unlikely), it will turn off periodically. Most of the time, it will have an unstable voltage (undervolting) which is how some phones are able to detect an improper charger is used. This is bad for your battery.
I do not recommend charging with a charger that isn't rated for it. This is widely documented.
I have imported my Huawei and I absolutely love the phone. Since it is an import it came with a UK Type fast charger. I simply used a wall adapter and powered it over the US current. Well, that fast charger isn't working what so ever - after 2 hours I only go to about 35 percent from 0. I have used my Note 7 charger to charge it, and there the charging times are much faster. Any ideas on what, if anything, I am doing wrong and maybe where I can buy a working Huawei charger. I can't return the charger since I bought the phone over Amazon and it strictly came with no warranty. It is not the end of the world if I can't use the included charger I just want to see how fast this phone truly charges.
Either this post is a joke or someone sold you a non supercharge Huawei charger. Also are you using both the charger and charging cable that came with the phone in the box. It's white with purple in the USB A area
Here from 10 to 80% in 45 minutes
Same here. I find the first 80% to be lightning quick and then it slows to a "normal" charging speed for the last 20%.
Must be something wrong with your charger or cable.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
Using the european adapter, not the UK one, but charging is lightning fast for me as well.
hi
the orginal adapter and cable
i charge from 0% to 90% in about 55 minutes, the last 10 % are slower maybe 30 minutes to full
greetz benji
Mine took almost 2 hours from 48% to 100%. I'm using Original Huawei charger.......
Install ampere and see what the milliamp charge rate shows as. When the battery is almost dead it should charge at just under 5 amps and will slowly decrease as the battery level increases.
Mine typically goes from 0 to 65% in half an hour, then 90% around half an hour on top of this. The final 10% takes almost another hour.

Well there is obviously something wrong with your charger, cable or phone. I would guess the first two.
Mine turbocharges in a few minutes. I've been using fir about a year now.
Could be that an "European" charger intended for 220 volts does not provide rapid charge when plugged into a 110 volts wall plug. I have for example an electric toothbrush I bought here in Europe and it refuses to charge on a 110 volt system when using an adapter. Maybe see if you can buy an OEM charger intended for the US?
There are 2 different chargers that are official, there's the supercharge one that comes bundled with the phone which I guess everyone is using and is getting great charging speeds... (Gotta use both the charger and the cable)
And then there's the fast charger which is pretty slow compared to the bundled charger.
The next time you wanna travel abroad make sure you buy a supercharger for that regions type of socket.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
If you buy a replacement make sure it actually says SuperCharge on it.

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the OnePlus 5 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
It's about not only charging speeds... But also the heat while charging
And in both situations, dash charge is superior to any quickcharge solution i've tested.
I can confirm. Alot faster and still cool battery. It charges with 3 amperes through than with an anker charger that fills your battery with 1.2 amperes through.
Dash charging is the bomb. Even without the Dash charger, the phone charges awfully fast.
lighting fast
Easily gets through a day with heavy usage with plenty of power left in the battery.
Super fast charging speed.
from 5% to 100% at 68 minutes. No limits ROM, bluspark kernel
I don't think my phones ever overheated.
Dash charge works phenomenally well, I've never known a charger this fast.
Problem for me is I have a tonne of other USB-C chargers which even though they have similar voltage and amp output they sometimes charge slowly or normally, so you would need to buy another dash charge to get the same speeds.
I have another charger (Dash) but no second cable, lost it. Using another USB-C cable doesn't allow Dash, so the cable matters too.
I saw a video on youtube with charge speed comparison between flagship phones, one+5 was fastest there (1 hour 13 mins). pixel 2xl there was around 2 hours 40 mins)

The time connected to the charger isn't exactly a factor here. You could leave it on the charger for days and it likely won't get very hot, because it will only be trickle charging it to keep it at 100%.
Now, there are other things that cause battery life issues, but I was specifically referencing excessive heat, which is the number 1 battery killer.

My girlfriend oneplus 3 after 1.5 year still got 6 h + sot, dash charge is great
If my phone is on, it usually takes an hour or less. Since the last update it has been faster.
DASH charging is super fast, while charging with QC 2.0/3.0 charger or any other charger its reaaaaally slow.
No heating on charging even if i use this beast.
Gets me full charge in around 100 minutes.
Sometimes it charges really quick around one hourin my office (i think power supply in my office is better than my home) but takes 100 minutes at home mostly.
