I recently bought a dual-band Linksys Archer A5 in Germany which only shows bands 36-64 in settings. Only my old Asus Padfone X (unlocked AT&T model) connects to the 5GHZ band. My Nex S (global), Huawei P10 and my son's P9 Plus don't even see it. But my Mi Mix 2 (chinese rom) sees it but won't connect and when I force it, it won't reconnect automatically. Even the WiFi Analyzer app doesn't see it on those phones. But my two Chinese TV boxes and my Lenovo tablet (US model) connect automatically.
Any ideas or a workaround? Any help is much appreciated.
Replies are always few and far between on this Nex forum. Anyone please?

If you don't get an answer here, try a Linksys forum with your router model.

Good idea but then it's unlikely they would know anything about Chinese phones.

Hi all,
I need your help. My mate 9 is mha-al00c00 model and use the last update b173. It cannot to detect wifi 5ghz of tp link wdr8500. The range channel of this router is between 149 and 165. How could we change the wifi country code on the root of android 7.0? Someone has the same issue.
Thanks
Try the lower channels (36-64). Fixed it for me.

These channels 149 and 165 have fixed by the tp link factory. I cant try the lower channels
That would be the most absurd thing I've ever heard. What model is it?

Tp link wdr8500
Could we open all channels on mate9 to see wifi 5ghz?
In a 5ghz, i cant try channel between 36 and 48. I think i have one problem with the current firmware under dfs channels. Could we try manually to change a channel on mate 9?

The 5GHz channels for WiFi are not standard across the world. Some countries use part of that frequency band for other purposes including government services. That's why WiFi routers and phones sold in some regions have certain channels locked out.
If you import the router and phone from different regions then you could find they can only talk to each other on a limited number of channels. There are ways to overcome this, but you might then find you are using channels that are not permitted in your country and/or suffer from interference.

Up until B126 my Mate 9 was working fine at the higher 5.0GHz frequencies. It started giving me trouble when B138 came out so I simply dropped to a lower channel and that did the trick.
Have you checked if DD-WRT runs on that router?

I checked.

Hi All,
Meanwhile i do have my Hisense A2 for nearly 2 Month. I am a TeleXXX Customer and was having no problems with connectivity for my older Smartphones.
With my Hisense A2 it isnt possible to get a Dataconnection higher than 2G and all without working SMS. WLan is working very well.
So i was searching for Help in the Worl wide web.
I tried the correct APN from my Customer.
I was resetting my Phone.
I upgraded by the English/Chinese Version, and downgraded back to L126.1.6.03.09.00, thanks to Baistan.
Meanwhile i am near lost by find my Failure.
I rooted my MDA Innovation, my S2, my S5, my Ipad...., but my Original Hisense A2 wouldn`t work.......
Is there anything i can do, to get it work correctly? Is there another Thread i havent found?
Are there different Versions of that Phone, or do i have to upgrade the Baseband? (937_GENNS_PACK-1.79261.1.82796.1 (Kernel 3.18.24))
Thanks for Your Patience and, maybe, Help.
LTE and UMTS use different frequency bands and modulation types in different countries.
The A2 was made for the chinese market, and may not work well or at all on 3G/4G in other countries.
I'm kind of in the same boat, I'm using the A2 in Switzerland and can only use 3G but not 4G.
You didn't say which country you're in. Your phone may work with a different operator but I wouldn't bet on it.

I have found A2 works on ATT at 4g and 3g but only 2G for T-Mobile in US.
Hi everyone,
First, i want to precise that i'm French, can be a useful information about my region.
So, i think the issue started since Pie.
While performing a 5Ghz hotspot, i can't find it. After a hard reset, the first one showed up. But i couldn't connect and after, it disappeared.
Absolutely no issues on the 2.4Ghz.
Can't solve the problem... anyone has an idea ?
Thanks !
I have the same problem in Italy
Same in Italy too!
So... Maybe a EU problem ?
Yes same issue in UK.
Oneplue 6
Sometime, I got same issue in Thailand
I use 10 times, got problem 4 times
With 2.4Ghz always work.
Same here but it happens on both 5 and 2.4 Ghz
(Sweden)
Same here.
US 6t. Seems to have been after the latest update today.
Reboot fixes 5ghz for a short while before it disappears.
2.4ghz appears to be ok.
Is anyone using WiFi calling?

Hi,
I'm using p40 pro + and Vodafone in Delhi. I'm. Not getting option for WiFi calling. But in my jio which is in sim 2 I have that. Any idea why specifically in Vodafone it isn't coming?
Prior to this I was using S21 Ultra, in that WiFi calling was working as charm for voda.
WiFi calling feature depends on the phone model. Probably P40 Pro + is not currently supported by Vodafone in your country.

I know the chances are slim, but if the laptops are older, they may not have a 5ghz wifi card. How old are the laptops? Any chance you could try with a usb wifi dongle and see if it works on that.
