Hi,
When I want to launch a VPN connection with "OpenVPN Connect" or another application, I get a "Connection Request" message that appears with Cancel and Ok.
The problem is that the OK button does not work, only the Cancel button works.
So I have to cancel and I can't start my VPN connection.
Do you have a solution to this problem?
Thanks
Do you have any apps with this permission " Display over other apps " or draw on other apps , its same .it can be apps like navigation gestures , ... uncheck this permission and try again .
I will check but then why only the OK button does not work while the Cancel button works.
I have a similar issue with connecting to ssh unless I'm on wifi. I'm pretty sure my carrier is blocking the ssh port sine everything works on WiFi.
Can you connect when on wifi? Can you try a vpn server with a different port and/or ip?

from reddit :
"turn off the overlay. You can't click secure dialogs through them "
have to say i had this problem before and it was related to a gesture navigation app that had this permission "Display over other app " . disabled that , vpn worked ok .
I solved my problem:
After research and testing, it was the launcher that prevented me from clicking on OK.
I installed Nova launcher and it works.

NOW USELESS, JUST FLASH THE NEWEST BUILD FOR NATIVE TETHERING
Wi-Fi Tethering with CyanogenMod 9 Tutorial
Since CM 9 for Explorer can't use ICS native Wi-Fi tethering function, we have to use a third-party app.
How to do:
Install this to your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Press "Close" in Voluntary Donate popup that shows up.
Press the menu button and go to Settings.
Press Enable Wi-Fi Encryption so nobody can waste your valuable mobile data without permission.
Press Change Passphrase and type the network password you want to use in.
Go back and press Press to start tethering.
Grant Superuser privileges.
Log into AndroidTether and have fun.
If you get error in Activating Encryption:
Go to settings and change Encryption Setup Method to wpa-supplicant.
It's only one downside is that the network would be only protected with WEP, but since cracking it takes at least a day and unless you keep the connection up for days, it shouldn't be an issue.
Tks I've done it. And it run good ^^

Hi,
Why am I getting this notification for the 1st time in approx 2 months that have got a OPO, despite that am connected to WiFi?
Hoping to hear from you experts.
Thanks.
This sort of thing normally pops up when the WiFi network wants you to go to some sort of page, this is usually for a login to free WiFi hotspots, I assume this Dlink is your WiFi? Perhaps it wants you to open this page to change a configuration or login. This doesn't seem to be Android related at all but more to do with your router, could you try tapping on the notification and screenshot the page it opens, if any.
He's right. This looks like a router setting that you might have turned on like guest mode.

Thanks for replying, appreciate your expert views.
DLink is my WiFi and not a hotspot WiFi, never occurred earlier.
When I tap on it, G chrome takes me to 173.194.35.96/generate _204
Google results of this IP......173.194.35.96 which is Spy-IP.com
and Google has different results for this 173.194.35.96/generate _204
It never happened earlier in the past 2 months.
Been using the same OPO and same WiFi.
Any solutions to resolve it?
Thanks again and Best regards!

This is a router setting then, that page is some sort of login. Perhaps guest mode has been enabled on your router? Try this:
Settings>Wi-Fi>Modify Network>Show advanced options> Change DHCP to Static. Here, find the box that says Gateway and note the IP here. Now change Static back to DHCP and close this menu.
Go into the browser on your OPO and put in this Gateway IP, this will take you to the router config. The login for this is usually on the bottom of the router, otherwise the default can be found by searching the router model number, try finding a guest mode setting and turning it off - I really don't know... You can also change your WiFi name and password here if you like
I can't really help you any more than that.

Glad to hear, I am strongly advising against the factory restore. This is a feature of Android, although it is strange for it to be happening in this circumstance there is nothing it will achieve.

1. Changed router's password.
2. Guests mode is Off.
3. All apps working with WiFi except GMail and GPS.
4. Still see the notification.
5. Should WPS be Enabled, it is disabled at the moment?
6. You don't recommend a factory reset what about a re flash of 30 OR?
Thanks.
Your phone is working fine, it seems you have triggered some sort of bug in Android's WIFI login detection.
The system works by accessing DNS and check if the resulting IP is owned by google.com or some network-internal redirection/replacement by a login page.
Now, the IP 173.194.35.96 is owned by Google, so the DNS lookup obviously worked perfectly but for some reason the phone gets an unexpected answer from that server. Which makes me guess to one of the 2 following options:
a) one of the computers in your network is infected and Google keeps showing the "Prove you're human" captcha window on requests.
b) your provider is replacing failed DNS lookups with it's own "helper" page which for some reason is making Android trip. If possible, change the DNS servers in your router to either OpenDNS or Google DNS.

That's entirely your choice. However I would only recommend enabling it if it's the "Push to WPS" method and not constantly on - WPS is broken and depending on your router it takes between 1 to 10'000 attempts (1 second to ~ 2 hours) to break into your WIFI. Not good!

I recently upgraded my z3 dual to android 5.0.2. I found that there is a random key icon in the status bar and I cannot figure out what it is, I don't have any VPN's active and that was my only conclusion to what it could be. What is it? and what does it do???
It means you're are connected or disconnected from a vpn connection.
Of you remove the connection from your phone (active or inactive doesn't matter) it will disappear again. But you were right on your first guess, it is vpn
If you pull down the menu and click on "Network may be monitored" (below quick access) it will tell you which connection is running.
Hi, did you solve it, I have the same key icon and cant get rid of it. !
Dr. Web
If you're running the Dr. Web anti virus app it'll gain permission to operate soley off a VPN it doesn't change your phones network status as far as what you are connected to for data.... The app itself operates using a VPN which will display the key symbol in status bar!
For me it has happened when using the app doze when I activated the aggressive mode of the app DOZE and would see the key icon popping up and disappears when i deactivate this mode after granting it access to my device.
Could be Opera Max
do
Opera max did it for me.
Hi, did not check how old this is, but recently I got Xperia XZ premium and noticed same icon , and I Remember when it appear on my phone, it is after installed netguard firewall it using vpn locally on your phone, so it does not transmit data to some vpn server in any case. I love it, it do job very well and it cause that small icond to appear in my status bar.
Dear all,
I have problem on wps wifi (u11 6gb). Every time can not enter login page. Always write "if wifi is not working, try opening your bwoser to connect." I've tried 3 different wifi places all like that. And I tried to open the browser still can not enter the login page. Have you ever experienced anything like this too? Thanks for the comment.
Rgds,
In settings/wifi/advanced you should see an option to automatically open wifi login pages.. Tick it.
Beamed in by telepathy.
Hi Shiva, Thnks for comment. I already try. But still not work. Thanks.
the fix
Open a New incognito/private page instead of a normal one. Worked for me
For some reason, the VPN Service of the XZP stopped working after the last update. Only one service works.
Each time the VPN I install requests a "Connection Request" where I just have to press "OK", the "OK" doesn't respond. Only Cancel works.
Anyone with the same complaint?
tnx.
Mine is working fine
Hey, this thnig worked for me:
Some devices have a checkbox that says, "I trust this application." You must check the checkbox first before clicking OK.
If you cannot click OK or check the "I trust this application" checkbox, there might be another app on top of the dialog. Some known apps that can cause this are Lux Brightness, Night Mode, and Twilight.
To avoid this problem, close all apps that may be running in the background.
