It seems that Xiaomi is planning to soon release an update which will bring the widevine L1 support to POCO F1. The update is expected to be rolled out to MIUI Beta ROM users first by Q4, 2018, i.e. by the end of this month.
The company had recently released an update to fix the notification icon issue on the status bar. It is also developing 4K 60fps support for the rear camera. Additionally, users of POCO launcher will also have an option to customise desktop grid size and icon size in the future.

What they actually said is
Still developing with Google and Qualcomm, will try to release the Beta within Q4 .
Within Q4 could be any point up to the end of December

Yeah. At least they released it.
Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk
They hope to release the fix in Q4, it means they can do it via an ota update. So the secure key is already present in our system unless they could not have said so. That's a positive thing.

The key is probably not present in the device, because according to their statements, they don't even know about Widevine and since the phone is available in China, and most Chinese manufacturer don't care about VoD services, so forget about OTA. If it would be the case above, then it would've been solved already.
They are just stalling it, just like they stalled the multitouch issue.

So, WideVine L1 cert can be enabled using a software patch? Got this from OnePlus forum "Xperia XZ2 already ships from factory with the required device-unique secret key in the TrustZone for Widevine L1 support, and their stock firmware plays HD content just fine. It was only the Android P Developer Preview builds that hadn't L1 support enabled on software-side before Beta 3 build. OnePlus 5T on the other hand ships without the required secret key in the TrustZone, and that's something that can't be "fixed" with an OTA update, that's why you have to send your phone to them if you want L1 support." So, is that true that's Pocophone F1 has already got secret key in their TrustZone? Or they're finding a way to send them via an OTA software update?

I think that the trustzone can be reflashed if the efuse hasn't triggered to prevent re-flashing of that partition.

Is this phone getting the Pie update ?
On the Nokia forums, some mention that there's an internal beta but no evidence is provided.
Does anyone know anything about this or have any evidence that Nokia is planning on released an update ?
Yes, it is under active development and it will be released. None of the CN phones have received Android Pie yet because the CN ROM has to include all the customization. Wait for it

Haven't the 7 Plus, 6.1 and 6.1 Plus already received the Android Pie update in China ?
Also Nokia has rolled out an external Beta for the Nokia X7 (released this year).
Still no news released about the Nokia 7 though.
Unless there's evidence behind your claim, i think it's highly doubtful ?
For now we can assume that Android Pie support for the Nokia 7 has been dropped.

I saw beta post. Beta version for nokia 7...... Maybe it will relsed in next month
For nokia 7 its a long term process maybe we wait more next year
Yeah, with android one, you would assume timely delivery of updates.
IOS updates are generally phased within a few days regardless of geographical differences.
Nokia just made a false pledge. Receiving the pie update for China variants months later is no different from Samsung releasing an update 1 year later.

Yeah, recently there was also some speculation that Nokia was delaying updates to boost sales of the latest devices. It's not been confirmed but i think there's some merit to that e.g. How is it that the Nokia X7 has a public beta of pie before the Nokia 7 despite the latter being released an entire year before ? The dev team were likely instructed to prioritise the latest devices for strategic reasons from marketing.
Whatever the reason behind it, they've failed to communicate any delays in development and didn't stick to their word. Their silence is complicity towards a false pledge.
I guess when it comes to android development, we just shouldn't get our hopes up.

I've installed pie update and performed a factory reset. Everything went ok however I'm having an issue with contact sync; neither stock contacts application or Google contacts are able to sync my contacts, also I am not able to install Google+ either from playstore or using APK from apkmirror.
I've had to import my contacts to phone from an exported VCF file from Google contacts.
Any idea on how to make contact sync to work?
Thanks

I got prompted for another software update today, May 9, 2019
It's build number PPW29.183-29-1
Stability improvements and security patch April 1st 2019
Can anyone with RETUS Moto z3 play also confirm they received this?
Not much has changed. Feels more fluid and stable. And I did notice one thing!! It's got this cute guy.
(See attached screenshot)
Nah, I still don't have the PIE update. I'm RETUS. Motorola Z3 play from Amazon without Alexa.

I just got a feb security update, hopefully they push pie soon.
I expect pie to be here soon for you guys since it's being pushed out to the MFN
Got the Feb security update yesterday, hopefully pie is close behind.
I'm on US Cellular.
I recieved the Feb Security update yesterday, not realky close to what there website says but im not realky caring much at this point. Id be interested in anything other than Android , its become another tool for the carriers , hokding people at bay for there uodates, making updates more prevalent for the phones the carriers claim are flagship ( more sales)
Does anyone know if ATT has released the update from Moto for Pie?
Yes I got the February security update and so did my daughter. I grow weary of wating for the pie update. I will have second thoughts about buying another Lenovo in the future even though they are a great value. I might be happier with a Google Pixel or similar product that receives updates as soon as they are ready.

It's not an AT&T thing. I got my Z3 Play retail unlocked and carrier-free, and I'm still waiting (frustrated) for Pie.
Unlock bootloader and install the Pie rom works great. I have an unlocked bootloader and my wife have the original z3 play. We are both on febr. securityupdate android Pie.
I wasn't in a rush, but this is what happened when I updated to Feb patch 28.70-31.12. Then another posted with same. The phone is on its way to Motorola. I just hope my "refurb" will have a new battery because I sure don't need a replacement device that's been out there for nearly a year.

its motorola theyve sent the updates to the beta team (aka, motorola feedback network). once motorola feels the updates good, it pushes it out to the devices on the RETUS software channel (all of the USA models), so its not necessarily up to the carrier to provide yall the updates, cause you can get it even if there is no sim card in the phone. its just not quite ready for public release

After dealing with Moto when it came to updates for my Atrix 4G (scrapped 4.0 update) and Atrix HD (ignored in favor of Razr HD), and then moving away to my J5, i wasn't sure how Moto was running things today. From what you're saying, the update process hasn't changed.
It makes sense what you say, b/c I was able to track down the modern day sbf files for flashing via rsd (script used today was seen back then when presented in a non-sbf format, still flashable via rsd), ended up reading android version 9, with build dates back in feb and march of this year.
I'm not following this closely, just poking around for any news for a family member, but we definitely know that its in MFN testing?
I'm still stuck on the November 1, 2018 update. It even says I'm up-to-date. Any ideas why?

This is what I got today, but it is the FIRST ota to hit my phone. It's the Feb 1 security patch that LMSA app couldn't install properly on my phone. The replacement phone came with Jan. 1 patch.
I do hope we get more sightings of RETUS Pie in the wild. I'm returning my sim to my Pixel 3a for a while--at least I get AT&T wifi calling with it. I even get a better phone signal with it.
it is from March that I no longer receive updates for the global version, I am at 10.3.1.0. have they already left the device? should I install another rom? are there any hopes for widevine certification l1?

No, performance is fine. The camera is brilliant with the modded camera app. I find all the Xiaomi stuff littering the phone a nuisance although I have removed as much as I can without rooting. (I used to root every phone I owned but need flawless Google Pay - always - and don't want to play whack-a-mole with Google).
I resisted setting up a Xiaomi account - why would I have an account with a phone manufacturer? I'm not really a fan of Mui but with a Google Pixel Launcher it's good enough but I am finding the lack of proper notifications on email less than stellar. I like the Xi charging; OnePlus have never done this. Google's Nexus 4 - I think - did and I was hooked from then on.
There are two issues with Xiaomi really. The over riding issue is security. In my mind timely security updates are essential for any phone manufacturer wanting to be taken seriously. And the second is all the data collection that Xiaomi try to do on me; they seem me as a legitimate subject to data mine and advertise to; I'm not.
So I was hoping the Pixel 4 might finally get Google back on to the straight and narrow that the Nexus phones found. Alas no; it seems the Pixel 4 are stylisticly dead in the water with chin and forehead size bezels as gross as they are. So it looks as if I'll be returning to the OnePlus fold if they can master a through-the-screen camera and finger print scanner on the back where it should be.
I had been running a OnePlus since the the days of the One and went to 3, 5 and 6. I like OnePlus. Reasonable performance; regular updates and close to pure Android.
But liking a phone (why do we still call it a phone - its so much more?) liking a phone is very personal and your mileage will vary from mine.
Any new information about the new update?

Coronavirus happened?
When the device first launched, we used to get updates in the first week of the month, but as the time went by we started getting them by the end of the month. We will get it. But don't keep your hopes up, it'll just be a mere security update and 'bug fixes'. Most probably.

Not to mention, some neighboring provinces in China are also affected with the virus, not just Wuhan.
I really don't think that the virus poses a threat to the development. I'm quite sure that in this day and age, people can work from home or basically from anywhere in the world. It will just be another excuse for Xiaomi's laziness. Hell, Xiaomi India's official Twitter account said that Mi A3 would get the Q update mid-February, but it's February 23rd and they still didn't get one. So, I've stopped expecting anything from Xiaomi, and I've learnt a valuable lesson, never again cheap Chinese smartphones. They come with bloat, slow updates and sh*tty customer support. Cheers.

Same. But Google forces oems to use features as a default. If oem wants to take Android 10 certificate on his new phone Google forces them to use Cam2Api as a default. Google gives me hope in a good way.
More force to the Oems for new features = Better phones
Google knows if they leave the choices to Oems this will cause deep differencies between phones. I am glad they understand that.
For example:
Gcam vs Stock Mi A2 Lite camera. You know the difference. Its like day and night. Same hardware but better results.

I just predict the future for future phones.
Either wait for Xiaomi or go custom rom... I'll wait until the end of March if they don't provide the upgrade I will
Recently Xiaomi promised this to us;
"Xiaomi is aware of the Android 10 update issues in Mi A2 Lite and the launch to users of that device has now been suspended. Our teams are now working to solve the problem and our goal is to implement an update via OTA throughout March. Affected users are recommended to take their devices to authorized Xiaomi service centers for post-sale assistance."
Source
Xiaomi’s Android One smartphone: Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, even after 210 days still waiting for the new Android OS update.
Its been 6 months 27 days since first Android 10 release.
Also Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite didnt get any security update about 74 days.
Any bets?
Xiaomi must release at least security patch, because as per google rules, the security patch on phone must not be older than 90 days on beginning of each month. Also, there are reports that the new Android 10 with march security is already seeding to small amount of users.
Who got it?
