Did Xiaomi forgot it? What happens?
It's still February and we will get it next week. Keep calm!
Coronavirus happened?
When the device first launched, we used to get updates in the first week of the month, but as the time went by we started getting them by the end of the month. We will get it. But don't keep your hopes up, it'll just be a mere security update and 'bug fixes'. Most probably.

So Xiaomi changed its update pattern again. I hope this will be the sign of Android 10 update. I cant believe we are still in Android 9. Yesterday Google released first Android 11 developer preview.

Idk where they live but one of their factory is actually in Wuhan, and they were closed for a couple of weeks.

Not to mention, some neighboring provinces in China are also affected with the virus, not just Wuhan.
I really don't think that the virus poses a threat to the development. I'm quite sure that in this day and age, people can work from home or basically from anywhere in the world. It will just be another excuse for Xiaomi's laziness. Hell, Xiaomi India's official Twitter account said that Mi A3 would get the Q update mid-February, but it's February 23rd and they still didn't get one. So, I've stopped expecting anything from Xiaomi, and I've learnt a valuable lesson, never again cheap Chinese smartphones. They come with bloat, slow updates and sh*tty customer support. Cheers.

For the price its an ok phone. However most likely this was my first and last Xiaomi phone.
Would not be surprised to see them use the virus as a. Excuse to drop updates on the device, would prefer if they communicated but they seem to just ignore us, problem being is the one program is not profitable for them selling as they cannot load advertising in to the device
Update bug question
the new update that rolled out about a week ago now (at least for the s9+), and I'm wondering what bugs this one has. I had to back up my stuff and factory reset my phone to get some of the bugs out. I'm still noticing some other things I'm not crazy about even after that reset, though my phone is working MUCH better now. Can someone who has it give me their input before I do the update? Thanks!

Same. But Google forces oems to use features as a default. If oem wants to take Android 10 certificate on his new phone Google forces them to use Cam2Api as a default. Google gives me hope in a good way.
More force to the Oems for new features = Better phones
Google knows if they leave the choices to Oems this will cause deep differencies between phones. I am glad they understand that.
For example:
Gcam vs Stock Mi A2 Lite camera. You know the difference. Its like day and night. Same hardware but better results.

Yes, it's true.
They took almost one month for an 80 MB update, and today, 20 May, it's not released for all users but only for a bit of them.
It's really...normal .
Enjoy your update
So what?
Xiaomi is cheating on us. This is really bullsh*t, it is Android One phone and should get NEWEST android ASAP. Im starting to hate Xiaomi.

It is no crap, unless you show me a contract you signed in which it says they have to Release it in x months after it is publicly available.
Or show me a device starting with nougat which already has it.
Other than that people would complain if it has bugs. With Samsung, the note 8 hasn't even got 8.0 yet because it is too buggy.
So basically your post is bulls*** as we almost always get our security updates in the same month. Galaxy s9 is still on February afaik. Besides that 8.1 is still Oreo and not really worth that much anyway. Then again if it helps yourself with whining keep going but don't annoy others with it
Well it is kinda the point of Andoid One to always be up to date. Without all the manufacturer crap this should really be faster.

Nope.
The point of Android One is to have an android version closer to the specifications of Google, meaning zero or very little customization from the manufacturer.
Has nothing to do with updates. If you want updates, buy a Pixel.
Most devices are abandoned even before they are available to buy, and you complain because you have May update in... May?
What are you going to do with 8.1 that's so important? Besides, it's coming! We already have a beta for it. So what's the big deal?
Go buy a Motorola phone and enjoy 0 updates.

Each update that comes just changes Build No. And security patch date, you can't feel any changes expect that. Whats the point of such updates, they Fu*king just don't release a changelog, so only they the the changes they did.
I had moto G3, it had got 6.0.1 and got security patch till April 17, i don't know which Moto phone you are talking about.

Nope, i didn't mean that. Their are few bugs left you can find them on Forum, but they don't fix them first, secondly they adda new bugs, like the charging time has increased after April Patch by atleast 30-40 mins. Xiaomi just fails when it comes to answer question relating to updates ,features and anything, they just don't reply to them, with even a simple NO.
If any of you went to android one program webpage and actually read of it, there wouldn't be any stupid discussions.
It should have 8.1 few months ago already. Meanwhile were getting stupid security patches and nothing else.

About the charging time, I fail to see how an update could do that, or they changed something in the kernel (which I highly doubt). Seems to me like a hardware matter

I had a Moto G³ too. I've always used custom ROMs with it. It was amazing but stock really sucked.
Xiaomi has the worst community in the world, no doubt.
Anyway, seems like the pre-oreo update, less than 100mb and after 3/4 days Oreo was released.

No, performance is fine. The camera is brilliant with the modded camera app. I find all the Xiaomi stuff littering the phone a nuisance although I have removed as much as I can without rooting. (I used to root every phone I owned but need flawless Google Pay - always - and don't want to play whack-a-mole with Google).
I resisted setting up a Xiaomi account - why would I have an account with a phone manufacturer? I'm not really a fan of Mui but with a Google Pixel Launcher it's good enough but I am finding the lack of proper notifications on email less than stellar. I like the Xi charging; OnePlus have never done this. Google's Nexus 4 - I think - did and I was hooked from then on.
There are two issues with Xiaomi really. The over riding issue is security. In my mind timely security updates are essential for any phone manufacturer wanting to be taken seriously. And the second is all the data collection that Xiaomi try to do on me; they seem me as a legitimate subject to data mine and advertise to; I'm not.
So I was hoping the Pixel 4 might finally get Google back on to the straight and narrow that the Nexus phones found. Alas no; it seems the Pixel 4 are stylisticly dead in the water with chin and forehead size bezels as gross as they are. So it looks as if I'll be returning to the OnePlus fold if they can master a through-the-screen camera and finger print scanner on the back where it should be.
I had been running a OnePlus since the the days of the One and went to 3, 5 and 6. I like OnePlus. Reasonable performance; regular updates and close to pure Android.
But liking a phone (why do we still call it a phone - its so much more?) liking a phone is very personal and your mileage will vary from mine.
Any new information about the new update?
New update pushed out. Dark mode now available in stable.

Is there a full fastboot image available for the latest version?
I've seen a thread in the Mi Community stating that Mi A3, A2, and A2 Lite will all get the Android 10 update next month (January 2020).
Here is the link:

The same inquiry had been made about 1,5 months ago and we've been told that we'd get the 10 with December, but here we are mate. I wouldn't trust the Xiaomi support.
I'd expect the update next month too (buggy, but still) so let's wait a few more weeks and see!

It might be, it won't be. It's up to Xiaomeme. Better to just wait for the others' opinions and comments for the Android 10 update before you will. Even with unlocked bootloader, it still might be unsafe, because Xiaomeme.
Back in January 2019 and March 2019, a lot of Mi A2 users bricked their phones because of the unintentionally bricking updates. And usually, fixing with that problem was rather slim to none, except for warranty and returns. Especially for locked bootloader users.
In this case with Mi A2 Lite, downgrading (Pie to Oreo) do have obstacles with RILs (switched SIMs and some losing 4G connection after downgrade) if users wish to downgrade and want previous Android version, and maybe so with 10 to Pie (or worse). But time will tell what will be.

We will know in two weeks max! So let's wait! As you already know any intel about this is not trustworthy! So let's wait!
I'd expect it to arrive in January. But the most important thing is to arrive with no bugs not just early!
Recently Xiaomi promised this to us;
"Xiaomi is aware of the Android 10 update issues in Mi A2 Lite and the launch to users of that device has now been suspended. Our teams are now working to solve the problem and our goal is to implement an update via OTA throughout March. Affected users are recommended to take their devices to authorized Xiaomi service centers for post-sale assistance."

Xiaomi’s Android One smartphone: Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, even after 210 days still waiting for the new Android OS update.
Its been 6 months 27 days since first Android 10 release.
Also Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite didnt get any security update about 74 days.
Any bets?
Xiaomi must release at least security patch, because as per google rules, the security patch on phone must not be older than 90 days on beginning of each month. Also, there are reports that the new Android 10 with march security is already seeding to small amount of users.
Who got it?

Hmm i don't think he got the update, there is no evidence to back that up.
it is so frustrating that they release phones so often with no chance to really refines them. then there is google that puts out versions of android before developers get a chance to master or migrate fully to the latter.
i heard the new storage security in android 11 can cause hiccups like slow loading and crashes due to the new storage activity due to the new security rules.
should i stay on android 10 just like so many stayed on android 4.x.x for so long to keep compatibility

I did and as I said I've never had any issues with an update in 11 years. I'm sure Sammy will have it figured out before they release it. All my phones have been rooted until the Note 7, and you take more chance flashing a rom written by some dev than an update from a major player.

But samsung does not work or develop the third party apps or what not that you install on your phone. Any unsupported app you use will likely be crippled(heard that loading times can be 100× longer to start the app) and any dev too aggravated to to fix it may stop supporting his or her project. Also most devs have not even cought up to android 10. Yea i hope to many update and google learns their error in this mess

If it does happen and I seriously doubt it, I'll just reflash with odin and restore my backup. My glass is half full, not half empty. I have friends on other forums running 11 beta on Pixels with no issues.
Am I in a pixel or oneplus thread? Note 20 ultra users most likely get Android 11 before March 2021 and chances are that any kinks should be ironed out by then. I don't understand why this conversation needs to happen this early.

Guess I stand corrected! One Ui 3.0 AKA Android 11 is already in Beta in South Korea and coming to T-mobile according to this article.

it is so frustrating that they release phones so often with no chance to really refines them. then there is google that puts out versions of android before developers get a chance to master or migrate fully to the latter.
i heard the new storage security in android 11 can cause hiccups like slow loading and crashes due to the new storage activity due to the new security rules.
should i stay on android 10 just like so many stayed on android 4.x.x for so long to keep compatibility
Just look at xda's complaint on scooped storage

I will absolutely update as soon as its available. I always sign up for the beta each year to get the update ASAP. Most people complain that Samsung doesn't update fast enough. Haven't heard anyone complain yet that they update TOO fast, LOL.
These concerns happen every year, and they always end up being a non-issue.
As far as app compatibility issues, that's the developers' issues. They are advised long in advance what they need to do to remain compatible with the current OS.

Yup! Sammy has stepped up their update game the last few years. I think last year they were pushing the official Android 10 before the end of the year to some devices. I think, but I could be wrong. I know it was earlier than the previous years.

Guess you just lucked out. But i try not to be the one stuck with a dodgy os. When they updated to android 5 no phone would run my fave application and then the android 5 memory leak. Not to mention other things os updates can bring untill they fix them. And that is googles fault not the phone maker

LOL. I don't think I lucked out. I think issues with OS updates are far less common than you think. I'd say you are definitely in the minority.
I've been on Android since the original Moto Droid. I've had almost every Moto, LG, Samsung, Nexus, and Pixel. I've been through beta OS updates, official updates, side loaded updates, unofficial ported updates, you name it.
You're going back 5 YEARS and saying because an update broke your favorite application, that Google/Samsung updates too often? Is every update perfect? No, but they certainly don't break everything the way you think they do.

Android updates on Samsung phones are always an anti-climax. Samsung tend to have implemented all the best features that a new Android update brings already. What you end up with is a range of bugs or security features that break your apps. I will always go for the update that's offered but I am not excited about it or bothered if there's a delay in any roll outs.

No you are absolutely right. I'm out in Canada and if memory serves me right we got Android 10 at the beginning of January a month or so after the US. It was the years prior that the OS update came out with the S series release. And to your point Samsung has stepped up their game, tremendously. It's right after the Pixels and Oneplus which is not too shabby. And getting faster to boot. No complaints here. :good:

Yeah, Note10+ got Android 10 in December I believe. Definitely was super fast compared to Note9 getting Android 9 (February/March).

So true. I read one of the big changes with Android was bubble-like messaging, much like FB Messenger. Uh... I've had that in Samsung for a couple years now I think? My text app always pops up in a bubble instead of the notifications panel.

Thats what I was thinking, but couldn't remember 100%. Unless there's somd major issues, it looks like we're on the same timeline for Android 11, since the beta is already out for the international S20 series. US Note 20 won't be too far behind.

Spot on. What a wrenched mess.
My 10+ is still running well on Pie.
Google is insane to emulate Apple.
I don't think Google will fix it, another Vista.
Probably stay on Pie for the life of this phone and hope Google regains their sphincter control with 12 or 13...

I saw that too, wtf? Messenger does that all the time with Pie.
Lol, half of the time I disable it because it's a nuisance.
I've backed up all my Playstore apps with APK Export because of them either being taken down in Playstore or turned into a bloody mess to adapt to 10/11.
I also have a couple trusted apps the use overlays, Q would render them useless or a pain to use.
I remember the horror of Vista and Lollipop... Pie is running very well, WYSIWYG
The most I'll do for now is an occasional reload of Pie if needed. All my data including the all apks/system updates are stored on my SD card so reloads are much easier. No screwing around with or waiting for Playstore. Any app that allows it's setup to be exported is also saved there.
With over 230 GB of data it saves a lot of time coping it from the laptop too.
I never have a phone without an SD card slot... you know like an Apple.
