I'm all out of ideas.
My wife's Pixel has completely stopped responding to touch. This has happened soon after the latest update.
We've done a hard reset but that hasn't worked.
Can anyone help us?

New here but hoping someone can help. My TF300 touchscreen has just become totally unresponsive. The keyboard still has full functionality and nothing else seems to be wrong. This happened suddenly, simply turned it on this morning and nothing. I've tried with and without in the keyboard dock. A system reset. My next thing to try was going to be a new rom to see if that fixes it. I just wanted to ask if this would likely help or maybe I've got a hardware failure.
A couple weeks into using my new nexus 5, half the touch screen stopped working (if you really had to, you could still press buttons by pressing the thing really hard). It seemed like it was a hardware issue so I unrooted and wiped the device with this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
with the intent of returning it. Part of this process involved TWRP (where there are touch controls), and the problem occurred even there. (to me, that seemed to confirm it must be a hardware issue).
Now after everything is factory-reset, the touch screen has magically started working again. I'm extremely confused how this could have happened. My best guess is that the issue was intermittent and i accidentally jiggled the phone in a certain way to make it start working again.
Does anyone have an idea what could have happened, or how I could stress-test things to find out? If it is indeed an intermittent issue and the phone needs to be replaced I'd like to do that ASAP because I'm leaving the country and dealing with warranty will be difficult from overseas.
So My gf & I both have the same phone (Idol 3 5.5, Single SIM) Mine works fine so far without any issues, though hers has had the touchscreen randomly stop receiving touch inputs at least twice during work today?
I'm pretty savvy, so I've already tried a few things to try and work the issue out.
Disabled all gestures under settings
Factory reset
Still it has happened again.
Any thoughts guys?
UPDATE: Contacted Amazon for replacement, they were happy to comply with the request.

Sounds like a hardware defect (broken digitizer)

Hardware problem.

I messed with it for awhile when she got home today. Performed another factory reset. Eventually it bootlooped several times before I called it quits. Amazon is already sending a replacement.
Guess she got a lemon. Nuff said.
I didn't drop it or anything. All of the side buttons work so I tried a hard reset and my phone is encrypted so I have to enter my passcode to get back into my device. I have a Nexus 5 unrooted, completely stock. Basically the touch screen was working perfectly fine and then just stopped working. Do I buy a whole new screen? It's not the lcd because I can see everything on the screen. If you need any other info let me know and thanks for your help!
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
Again, your hardware is damaged, get the hardware fixed.
Hello guys. I had a strange issue with my wife's phone today... and I wanted to know y'all opinion about it before spending money in a new screen.
First of all, we never did any bootloader-unlocking or rooting on it before.
She was returning home with the phone in her backpack (empty, so the phone was not hit or anything). And when she arrived she took the phone and it began to hang and get freeze. Then it restarted itself, and entered in a bootloop. It stayed that way for an hour until finally I got to turn it on. But the touchscreen didnt work anymore (the screen looks perfectly and it has NO scratch, I swear...)
So I tried a factory reset, but the touch still didn't work.
So, what do you guys think? Could be something like software/drivers problem? Did you know any similar issue ever?
I think its very weird, cause before it worked perfectly. And it matches too much with the almost-brick moment...
