I have an unlocked Pixel 3 on the ATT network. Very happy with the phone thus far with only one issue. When trying to enable the hotspot I get an error stating "To enable go to att.com/my wireless or dial 611". I do have hotspot on my plan and I have modified the APN with ATT's suggested parameters. I did a web search and saw some had the same issue on the Pixel 2 but could not find a solution. Any help?

I just enabled a hotspot on att with my P3 without an issue. I'm using the att nextgenphone APN.

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't updated my IMEI with ATT. Did you do that?

Hmmm, that's really weird lol. You only have 1 option and it's check marked, I have 3 and none of em' are... odd.
Yeah and I got 5 options and none of em are selcted lol. I know nothing about APNs so I couldn't really comment on it. Curious myself.

I remember checking the apn settings the first day I got the phone. I only had one option then too. Not sure why I have 5 now. Reading up on APNs now!

I honestly have noooo clue lol.
Took this from Wiki
A mobile device making a data connection must be configured with an APN to present to the carrier. The carrier will then examine this identifier to determine what type of network connection should be created, for example: what IP addresses should be assigned to the wireless device, what security methods should be used, and how or if, it should be connected to some private customer network
Makes sense, the APK is needed so you device can communicate it the carrier to determine which network your phone should connect with. Still not sure what the need is, for multiple APNs, but at least I understand now what there used for exactly. The past week, I've worked again in downtown Boston, and my phone had no issues with handing off from 3G to LTE. Unfortunately I can't say the same for when I'm at home about 4 miles away. Kinda sux really. I know this isn't the topic for this thread, but I'm just hoping Sprint fixes this Spark issue soon, cause it's extremely frustrating.
Anyway, for anyone who wants a bit more info on APNs, Judy check out the Wikipedia page.

Ok, first BUCK FOSTON!!! hahaa
Seriously though, I'm still confused as to why I have 3-4 APN configurations and some others her have less, and then I'm even more confused as to why none of mine are selected, yet data and stuff still work....

1. Are any of the APN's selected?
2. What's the difference between automatic and LTE/CDMA; are you still getting 3G + LTE?

Agreed, wish we could get some definitive answers on what the various APN settings are/what they are used for.

Did sprint install the Carrier Optimization on these Note 5s? Also was carrier aggregation turned ON for these phones. My says not setup or something like that.
I got my MSL and found that MSL is turned on even thought it says CA-Not Config in *#0011#. I dont think these suckers have the sprint connection optimizer.

If you are referring to the connections optimizer app, it's there under wifi settings.

No. If you go to more then go to wifi optimization.
Looks like there is something called a smart switch. that is about. Connections manager had this whole disclaimer. I dont see that anymore.
wording is a little switched around but does look like connection optimizer.
Smart switch I believe is something used when switching devices

Yes the Not 5 is capable of Sprint Carrier Aggregation. Thanks.
I do not see any option for 'Smart Switch' or anything like that under Wifi settings...I am on the Sprint Note5.. kinda trippy
##data# shows that CA is enabled, so I suppose this phone does support carrier aggregation.

It was under settings>wifi>more but in my Rom it's no longer listed there.
It does support CA, the speeds in my area under B41 are night and day compared to my Note 4 that I gave my daughter.

It would be great if you had a screenshot to show. In "more" for me (stock rom) I see: Smart Network Switch, Advanced, and Help. My attached screenshot shows what's under advanced.
Thanks for the help.

Hi everyone, I'm creating this thread because for a while now I've been trying to use mobile hotspot and it doesn't seem to connect. When toggle hotspot on it turns on then shuts off. I go into HotSpot settings and try to turn it on that way and it tells me that I need to contact my carrier. I'm on AT&T. I was wondering if anybody else have this problem.

I have the same issue, I use Cricket as my carrier and the Pixel 2 isn't on their list of "officially supported hotspot devices." My S7 edge however would work just fine because it's on that list. I've been meaning to go to the Cricket store and see if there's anything they can do but there probably isn't. If you aren't afraid of rooting your shiny new device there's a stack exchange article on how to enable it on the Nexus 6P running Oreo 8.1. I don't know of any reason why that same method wouldn't work on the Pixel 2.
PS it won't let me post the link to the article because I'm a "new" user. Sorry.

It just works, I dunno. I'm stock, unrooted.
There is a magisk module to do this

Here is a link to another XDA area regarding enabling WiFi calling on the Pixel when using Verizon Wireless.
https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-preferred-wifi-calling-option-verizon-pixel-pixel-xl/
Has anyone tried this trick? Did it work?
Thanks!
Trying to query the variable shows it as "null", so no love there. I wish I could get WiFi calling working as well on AT&T. VoLTE is working great, but that's it.

Ok phone Verizon and they were able to fix it. Apparently all they had to do is turn the feature off and back on

What did you say to Verizon when you called? I just spoke with them and they turned off the hotspot feature, then re-synced the network settings and it's still doing the "Connected, no internet". Did you have them change anything else or change any other settings on the phone?
Does anyone have any more information on this issue? I just went in to a Verizon store and watched them disable the feature, rebooted my phone, and still have the same "Connected, no internet" issue. I know the hotspot on my account works since I can put my SIM in my LG V30 and use it fine. Any other suggestions?? It's not a huge deal but I would really like to get the hotspot working
