I am using inbuilt tethering app to create wifi access point from my phone. Try that it should work. Not sure why you need 3rd party app for wifi tethering.

You just setup the hotspot, it is pretty straight forward. Just give it a try.
I am on T Mobile USA so wifi tethering is part of my plan. You will have to keep it on or can try some hacks on the net. I haven't tried them though.

Anyone else seeing a bunch of Verizon apps when browsing their app list via settings on the unlocked model? I'm on T-Mobile and yet have Verizon Login, vzw_api, VZW_multicast_mw, vzwapn, vzw oma trigger (cannot be disabled). What gives?
My guess is that Google put these in there since the Pixel was built to work with Verizon as the "exclusive" carrier. But it still doesn't make sense since Verizon dabbles with the software on their version anyway.

The ones that come pre-installed are for WiFi calling, VVM, and Video Calling.
Both models will install extra apps from the Play Store if setup with a VZW sim-card.

I get this, Sprint also has an app or two pre-installed to handle their carrier specifics. It doesn't mean that they are "active".

Sorry if this is considered a hijack, but if I buy an unlocked version from Google, will it work with Verizon WiFi calling? Anyone tested this?

I've read that the answer is yes, WiFi calling should work for both Verizon and T-Mobile on the unlocked Pixels. I don't know how to tell if it's working on mine. I have an unlocked Pixel on Verizon. If someone knows how to tell, please let me know and I'll check.

Put it in airplane mode, then turn wifi back on and try to make a call.
On my Galaxy S7 I first had to enable wifi calling. Verizon does wifi calling differently from everyone else, it is part of advanced calling, and that is why I am dubious that it works on the unlocked version.

oddly i dont see them in my apps list (I'm on unlocked from google store version), but I DO see them when I scroll through my lists of apps in the battery optimization menu. I just randomly noticed this like 20 minutes ago for a totally unrelated reason. also, screw verizon.

I enabled WiFi calling, put it in airplane mode, turned on WiFi, and attempted to make a call. The phone told me to come out of airplane mode. I checked the settings and saw that WiFi calling was set to prefer cellular network. I saw no way to change the preference to WiFi. Seems it will only do WiFi calling if there is no cellular coverage available.

Other carriers let you change the preference to WiFi, but not Verizon. I've had that message before and had to reboot and try again on my S7. If you are on a poor cell signal, the phone will switch to WiFi, and you will get a small WiFi icon on the call screen. If I answer a call in my house with the cell radio on, it takes about 3 seconds to switch over. During those 3 seconds the person I'm talking to is saying "hello," "hello." So, I try to leave my phone in airplane mode with WiFi on when at home.

So far I have not found a way to "force" wifi calling on either model.

This is all it takes for me. I don't know about receiving calls via WiFi yet though. I doubt that it made a difference, but I'll mention that I partially set up my Google Store purchased device over WiFi before turning it off and inserting my Verizon SIM. I didn't log into any accounts while on WiFi, only after putting in the SIM. It also updated from build NDE63L to NDE63P, and I have some VZW specific apps as mentioned, but they're not in the app drawer.
Here is a link to another XDA area regarding enabling WiFi calling on the Pixel when using Verizon Wireless.

Has anyone tried this trick? Did it work?
Thanks!
Trying to query the variable shows it as "null", so no love there. I wish I could get WiFi calling working as well on AT&T. VoLTE is working great, but that's it.

Darn it!
So I wonder what Essential did not do that Google did... I wonder if the module could be pulled over...
I have an unlocked Pixel 3 on the ATT network. Very happy with the phone thus far with only one issue. When trying to enable the hotspot I get an error stating "To enable go to att.com/my wireless or dial 611". I do have hotspot on my plan and I have modified the APN with ATT's suggested parameters. I did a web search and saw some had the same issue on the Pixel 2 but could not find a solution. Any help?

I just enabled a hotspot on att with my P3 without an issue. I'm using the att nextgenphone APN.

Gsi pixel dust
Anyone having this issue ? I'm wondering if it has to do with the global ROM?
Ok phone Verizon and they were able to fix it. Apparently all they had to do is turn the feature off and back on

What did you say to Verizon when you called? I just spoke with them and they turned off the hotspot feature, then re-synced the network settings and it's still doing the "Connected, no internet". Did you have them change anything else or change any other settings on the phone?
Does anyone have any more information on this issue? I just went in to a Verizon store and watched them disable the feature, rebooted my phone, and still have the same "Connected, no internet" issue. I know the hotspot on my account works since I can put my SIM in my LG V30 and use it fine. Any other suggestions?? It's not a huge deal but I would really like to get the hotspot working
