Ok phone Verizon and they were able to fix it. Apparently all they had to do is turn the feature off and back on

What did you say to Verizon when you called? I just spoke with them and they turned off the hotspot feature, then re-synced the network settings and it's still doing the "Connected, no internet". Did you have them change anything else or change any other settings on the phone?
Does anyone have any more information on this issue? I just went in to a Verizon store and watched them disable the feature, rebooted my phone, and still have the same "Connected, no internet" issue. I know the hotspot on my account works since I can put my SIM in my LG V30 and use it fine. Any other suggestions?? It's not a huge deal but I would really like to get the hotspot working

So as everyone in here, i'm a early adapter. Once 4.4.3. was released yesterday I had to have it.
For now, I wanted the stock 4.4.3. installed and so I did, but now I have this one annoying thing, my phone keeps telling me i'm roaming.
I'm on a Dutch virtual network Telfort which uses the network of KPN, I think it has something to do with that. Anyone else experience this "problem"/"feature ?
Better yet, does anyone have a workaround to turn this off?
I tried enabling/disabling Roaming , didn't work. Soft reset, re-install etc.. None of those actions worked unfortunately.
No-one has this problem?
why is it a problem? its letting you know that its using a different carriers towers. unless you are getting charged extra, id ignore it.
Me to, also telfort. Have no clue what has changed...
same problem here
Same here, have to keep roaming on...
So no clue if I have 3/4G...
Any solutions??

I posted a tweet as well, I have to manually enable Data Roaming to have a data connection on my Dutch Telfort contract.

This is a problem because a lot of people live close to the border. With roaming enabled, you connect automatically with a foreign provider. at high costs.
I've managed to solve it using a work-around:
Downgraded both the bootloader and radio to:
bootloader: hhz11k
Radio: 1.0.25.0.23
wipe(!)
Kept WiFi off & skipped Google account set-up
Saw an H instead of an R above the signal icon
Tested: it works
Data Roaming box is unchecked.
I have got the roaming icon too. I have got Tele2 which uses the network of T-Mobile. I noticed that this is the case since I updated to 4.4.3, so it must be new since then.
Since updating, I've discovered that I can no longer use USB Tethering or set up a wireless hotspot.
Or should I say, I can, but neither give the other device any connectivity - even though it works fine on the phone itself.
Anyone else having problems, or can suggest a fix?

Works fine here on 5.0.2 full wipe, nordic ftf, USA bought D6603 on AT&T USA network. Maybe they changed something on your carrier with 5.0.2 that needs your account to be provisioned for tethering on Lollipop. Sometimes depending on the carrier a different apn is used for tethering and the carrier can then block you if you are not provisioned. The APN's change often with every version.

I'm on the same as you with 3 and can no longer tether although I can create a Hotspot and people can join, just no data......really annoying. Apart from that i like the update.

I've created a thread on the Sony Mobile forum, as I suspect this is a problem that isn't more widespread simply as people haven't tried tethering yet, or have assumed it was a network problem and maybe given up.
I am wondering if there's something going on where networks such as Three are now able to use another APN for tethering (as is now the case on iOS), but we are yet to be given the opportunity to select an APN for tethering? Or we have to add something in to the existing APN setting?
I think its a Lollipop issue as the Nexus devices had it. I'll try tonight with a different network sim to see if it works.
Can you post your APN?
I use T-Mobile.
Name T-Mobile Data
APN fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy not set
Port not set
Username not set
Password not set
Server not set
MMSC http://MMS.msg.eng.t-mobile. Com/MMS/wapenc
MMS proxy not set
MMS port not set
MCC 310
MNC 260
Auth type none
APN type default, supl,a-gps,MMS
APN protocol IPv4/IPv6
APN roaming protocol IPv4
When I first got my D6603 I couldn't tether. My APN protocol was set to ipv4 only. Making the change to IPv4/IPv6 fixed it.
Cheers I'll try when I get home.
Changing to IPv4/IPv6 didn't do anything for me.
Im in the same boat, I posted on the 5.0 thread but just to say I think its just a three problem unfortunately as I know a few people who have the handset etc and they are fine with tethering if there not on three, EE for example works fine. I guess we will have to wait for a three firmware or UK 5.0. I didn't backup my original firmware from my three handset and cant actually find a three firmware?

It will be dead easy to change. Just flash the new firmware over the old and don't wipe.
I am wondering whether to try and use the iOS Portable Hotspot APN that Three introduced on its new tariffs, but I don't know the exact settings. If that works, Three might be taking advantage of a new feature in Lollipop that allows it to restrict tethering, and hasn't considered (or doesn't care about) the impact on people still on the One Plan.
I've flashed back to 4.4.4 for now, I don't really use much tethering tbh but its handy to have occasionally

Yes, the same generic ROM.
In all my years of flashing firmwares, I've never had any such problems. Now if I'd flashed a ROM for the wrong variant and lost support for certain bands, fair enough, but data is working just fine on both the Z3 and my wife's Z2.. but tethering is broken.
If it works by the time a UK ROM is released, or specifically a Three UK one, I suspect it will only be because it has been fixed - not because there's actually a need for a specific ROM.
I can confirm that there thing on Lollipop isn't working for me.
On Three as well.
As I'm sure someone will say it sooner or later, did you do a clean install or an upgrade (no wipe)?
I did an upgrade. I cannot believe for one second that will make a difference, but it would be good to know if someone has the problem who did a clean install.
I'm back on 4.4, I'll wait until the UK one is released to see if it makes a difference. I didn't try a different sim from another provider though, did anyone else? I do like what they have done with lollipop though and miss it already
It stopped working for me, I found a solution to my issue and got it working. I posted the solution in the general forum.

Anyone else seeing a bunch of Verizon apps when browsing their app list via settings on the unlocked model? I'm on T-Mobile and yet have Verizon Login, vzw_api, VZW_multicast_mw, vzwapn, vzw oma trigger (cannot be disabled). What gives?
My guess is that Google put these in there since the Pixel was built to work with Verizon as the "exclusive" carrier. But it still doesn't make sense since Verizon dabbles with the software on their version anyway.

The ones that come pre-installed are for WiFi calling, VVM, and Video Calling.
Both models will install extra apps from the Play Store if setup with a VZW sim-card.

I've read that the answer is yes, WiFi calling should work for both Verizon and T-Mobile on the unlocked Pixels. I don't know how to tell if it's working on mine. I have an unlocked Pixel on Verizon. If someone knows how to tell, please let me know and I'll check.

Put it in airplane mode, then turn wifi back on and try to make a call.
On my Galaxy S7 I first had to enable wifi calling. Verizon does wifi calling differently from everyone else, it is part of advanced calling, and that is why I am dubious that it works on the unlocked version.

I enabled WiFi calling, put it in airplane mode, turned on WiFi, and attempted to make a call. The phone told me to come out of airplane mode. I checked the settings and saw that WiFi calling was set to prefer cellular network. I saw no way to change the preference to WiFi. Seems it will only do WiFi calling if there is no cellular coverage available.

Other carriers let you change the preference to WiFi, but not Verizon. I've had that message before and had to reboot and try again on my S7. If you are on a poor cell signal, the phone will switch to WiFi, and you will get a small WiFi icon on the call screen. If I answer a call in my house with the cell radio on, it takes about 3 seconds to switch over. During those 3 seconds the person I'm talking to is saying "hello," "hello." So, I try to leave my phone in airplane mode with WiFi on when at home.

This is all it takes for me. I don't know about receiving calls via WiFi yet though. I doubt that it made a difference, but I'll mention that I partially set up my Google Store purchased device over WiFi before turning it off and inserting my Verizon SIM. I didn't log into any accounts while on WiFi, only after putting in the SIM. It also updated from build NDE63L to NDE63P, and I have some VZW specific apps as mentioned, but they're not in the app drawer.
I own Verizon Pixel, but I use it on T-Mobile. Maybe someone who knows can comment if my device will get that new build(NHG47K) or this is strictly for users that use Verizon sim.

Verizon Pixel on Verizon with N2G47E as well though I did the OTA manually rather than wait for it to appear. I do this every month. Have had no issues with the phone.
Much prefer to do updates on my schedule rather than on someone else's in case there is issues with the update.
got mine through verizon. dloaded and installed nhg47k yesterday. nothing bad to report.

A couple of things that may help you out on the VoLTE option, including bringing back HD Voice calling and Video Calling. Same thing happened to me on the new build. I went into the the *#*#4636#*#* Phone information menu and ensured that VoLTE Provisioned and other options are turned on. For me I need to decline the HD feature and re-enable...for you probably a call to Verizon. Takes just a few moment to do and didnt have to reboot. Viola' HD Voice and Video Calling were back. Good luck

I never had such problems even with old firmware versions. I know that some people have them, but it looks like these issues are location dependent, so I wouldn't expect updates to fix it.

i havent gotten it yet, since i use wifi calling a lot at home due to not the greatest signal. if it doesnt support, then i might have to pass, which is a shame since its such a nice phone otherwise.
