Dust or something under camera glass? - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Anyone have this issue? I'm really disappointed this past through QC.
I contacted Google and they are replacing the phone.

Mine had a small hair stuck in the lens in addition to a small chip in the back glass from the factory. RMA is in the mail.

Replacement Lens Surround?

Hi All,
I managed to drop my 2 week old out of my pocket straight onto the prone metal camera lens surround and dent it! Seriously annoyed.
Luckily no damage to the actual lens so just superficial damage.
Anyway, can this part be replace as it seems so prone to damage?
Thanks.
Phil.
Keep on eye on this section of this site, hopefully they will get it in soon. There normally very good for parts.

aftermarket case

unfortunately I've dropped my beloved g2x quite a few times hence the casing and silver bevel are all scratched up....can the casing and bevel be purchased replaced with an original or after market like some other phones???
just put a case on it and hide it.....why go through the trouble of messing up your phone even more?
You can send it to LG service in the USA. A complete case changeover including front glass digitizer will be probably be between $100 and $150. Many people have reported they will replace the entire front piece with glass digitizer for $70.00.
Just tell T-Mobile that you're having issues with the phone such as Screen of Death, GPS not locking, and Random shutdowns.

Rear Glass Replacement Part?

Where can one source the rear glass from?
My Pixel 2 dropped from an ottoman onto a tile floor landing on its back top corner, and spider-webbed the back glass panel. I just measured this little ottoman - it's only 22" tall. A fall of 22" is all it takes.
My biggest concern is the spider web effect actually chipped the glass, where the glass breaks off in very tiny pieces. And it's depositing tiny glass particles all around the house - where i have a 1 year old toddler all over the floors. Not to mention my pants' pockets and my desk. I'll go pickup a cheap cover to keep the glass from crumbling all over the floors for now.
I see these "uBreakiFix" stores can replace the glass for $150 or so at a local store. I have no local store near me, nor do I think $150 is worth a tiny piece of glass. But they seem to be able to get the glass replacements.
I have repaired dozens of our tablets and phones of the years so I have no issue with that part. I just need to source the glass.
Thanks!

Hi, did you managed to get the pixel2 rear Glass? I had the same problem, but, I live in Brasil and have no one around to do the job.

Nope, not yet. For now I just got a cover until I can get a replacement.
Same problem, the google staff in Italy ask me around 200€. The rear glass for Pixel 1 is on eBay for 5€ and on what I've seen in YouTube it just need 5 minute of work.....
Keep in touch for the first who will find the replacement

Found this, so I'm trying it when it arrives
Hey man, just wondering if you can tell us anything new? My back glass shattered too and the glass itself isn't too expensive now. But can you get the old one off without complete disassembly? So many teardowns and nobody touched the back glass.

Dust in Camera

Anyone else got dust in the camera? I have a spot of dirt or dust that is showing in photos. It's pretty much ruining them. The body isn't obviously sealed.
Yes, it seems like there is one model, which got assembled either in India or China, which had assembly problems. I'd just contact OnePlus and RMA it tbh.

Dropped my Ultra and smashed rear 5x zoom glass!

Dopped my Ultra yesterday which has a case fitted but it fell on a stone which penetrated the 5x zoom glass (pic attached). A bit gutted as I've only had the phone a few weeks.
Just wondering if you think it can be repaired by a local phone repairer?
As this is a China only phone, do you think that they will be able to get the parts needed for a repair?
Thanks in advance
Surprisingly it can still take images using the 5x lens even though it looks like below. I assume there is some loss of clarity as I took this images right after the accident
Smashed my camera too!
As it's the transparent glass back, there is only one facility that can repair it. Luckily I'm in China so I can send it back to Xiaomi. If you are outside China you might be SOL.
That glass broke way to easily!
You can find the camera module here. But not sure about the back glass. You can mail them and ask. Maybe they can help.

I found a site called, "cellspare". They have the whole rear glass. However, they're $100. As far as repair goes, the Mi 10 Ultra is no different than a Samsung to replace the rear glass.
Heat it up, make a small gap, and separate the adhesive. Any competent tech should be able to do it. It might even be something you could do on your own.
