Sprint SM-G955U help!!! - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi I'm not sure if my problem has been answered already but I haven't seen anything so I please if u can help it would be greatly appreciated. I have a Sprint SM-G955U and I was wondering if there is any root method for this device. When I try to downgrade it says: SW REV CHECK FAIL : [abl]Fused 5 > Binary 1.
Can someone please let me know if I can root or is it a waste of time trying to root right now. If anyone can give me any information about it I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

What carrier is it thru and it has to gmhave firmware on it to turn on brotha but it might be bricked . Luckily yours a easy fix. All you gotta do is flash the stock firmware back on there. Tell me what carrier and ill give you a link and explain how to do it.

OK I figured out how to fix it.....I had to flash it in odin with G955USQS5CRH1_G955UOYN5CRH1_SPR firmware which i downloaded from sammobile.com. Than I followed this root method https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...nt/root-using-odin-modified-firmware-t3693790 ...so try that and see if it works....but I do have one more question....i am trying to unlock my phone and dealing with sprint has been nothing but a headache. so does anyone know where else i could try to get this phone unlocked???? I'd really appreciate the help...

guys,
i have a question,
my friend has a s8+ model G955U. ATT version. unlocked.
baseband is = G955USQU1AQEF
he is on security patch May 1, 2017.
latest patch is september 1, 2018.
he is not receiving updates after that. at least 15 updates are issued after that.
from various online searches i have read that users are facing problems.
now i am asking if i can flash sammobile firmware ????
will he lose sim unlock or not ?
he will backup the data beforehand. MAIN query is about SIM UNLOCKING.

Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my LG Stylo this morning? What to do?

Hello Folks
This morning I noticed, Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my phone. I am rooted and unlocked but not on a custom rom.
Please advice what I need to do.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Is there any issuse with the update
I have not updated. As I mentioned I am rooted and unlocked. Not sure what to do hence posted my question in the forum.
I do not want to lock the bootloader. Just curious to see what others who might have got this update are doing about it.

1. You don't have to worry about lock bootloader
2. Which Software version are you running? v10e, v10i or v10j?
3. If you update there is a way to downgrade cuz we have previews KDZ's
I am running version 10i,
I am guessing tmobile wants to upgrade me to v10j. Is there a flash able version for 10j that I can use?
Thanks

Ok, you can go here and update to the latest version v10j using @GameTheory. V10j Full update/pre-rooted/untouch TWRP.

dummy you can't update that way you must remove all traces of root which the app can't do use the KDZ
If you are rooted and it says system update DO NOT INSTALL IT... it will brick your phone

Latest method?

I just got an H810 it is currently on 6.0 h81021z....
I've been reading and apparently there is no way to at least root it... Am i correct on this? There is no way to downgrade or even unlock bootloader. No root method available? Should i just update and wait for my next phone?
I really miss my unlocked bootloader LG V10.... It died on me....
Well.... I guess its now worse... It auto updated to h81022b...
Does this really work? Anyone successful?

Those are my comments at the bottom in the Disqus discussion with the author of the post. I am running same version you are and I finally gave up. I cannot locate the TOT file for H81020n which is required for you and I that are now running H81022b. For us it would be a two TOT file flash process to get back to the version we need to root.
All of the links I have found for the H81020n firmware are dead or lead to something else. If anyone has a working link to the TOT file for H81020n it would be greatly appreciated.

Use smartswitch emergency recovery , samsung have put in place some issues with the Bootloader, moreso if you're on a newer bootloader then you cannot install a firmware which has a lower bootloader

When you downloaded your firmware for odin, was it the very newest update? Or an old one, I've noticed some older firmwares fail to flash due to being on a newer bootloader

I had tried other versions with no success.

Hey, so I have the bootloader problem too and I think we have to wait for the nougat update for the type of phone you have. I have a galaxy s6 tmobile so I think I have to get nougat and flash that when it comes out for tmobile. You have to do the same I think but for now Im gonna send it to samsung and act dumb. Hopefully maybe they fix it and send it back. Do you think they will accept my phone though? It was rooted and had nemesis rom. for nougat port from s7 edge. Also current binary is: Samsung Official. System Status is: Custom. They can see knox is tripped since the counter is void: 1.

Hey, it depends if you have warranty on the phone or not. If you have warranty, it will not cover your expenses because it's void after unlocking bootloader and rooting. If you don't have warranty and you are paying them anyways, they should have no trouble accepting it. Who would deny taking money. I hope they can fix it for you and I'm sorry we couldn't figure out how to. What you said about Nougat is true. I have checked that information as well. There is no Nougat for TMobile yet. We just have to wait. Again, in the mean time if I fix it, I will post my solution here.

How to fix null IMEI 000000000000000 ?

Hello guys, it's me again haha.
I haven't had so much trouble with any phone but the Mate 9. After I tried to restore my device to stock and it didn't work out and my phone didn't start anymore, so I made my MHA-L29C432 to a MHA-L29C636 Chinese Variant, so i can access the phone.. now my problem is, that I've no more IMEI and I can't find a way to restore it... I tried to update via Firmware Finder from Playstore; didn't work out because of different Model (obviously). Then I tried out mankindtw's method from here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108) and selected the latest B182-ROM, but now I still don't have any IMEI or Modelnumber, just NRD90M-test-keys and null imei.... I just want to get this damn phone to stock and sell it because it's driving me nuts. Does somebody now a way how to figure it out? Or is the only way funkyhuawei? Is it 100% guaranteed that funkyhuawei works?
Thank you very much and I hope that somebody is able to help me...

When you rebranded you 1st "rebrand" to the region you want, then after it was successful, you are supposed to go in the program again and run "update- to same phone" and run the program again. That should take care of all the problems

bought phone from becetech wont update firmware

im sorry if this is in the wrong section but ,ok so i bought an open box galaxy s6 from becetech online and it would not let me update the firmware past 5.1.1 which made me a bit suss, downloaded root checker app and it came too me rooted. apart from not being able to update the firmware past 5.1.1 as far as im aware the phone has no issues and works perfectly fine. i downloaded the *samsung* phone info app, in general under manufacturer it says Samsung/verizon so im assuming that is part of the reason they rooted the phone as it needed to be unlocked from verizon to be refurbished? so what i want to know is how do i find out exactly what becetech have done to the phone and is there an easy way for me to update the firmware to nougat or at least marshmallow without stuffing the phone, like i said the phones running fine its just really bugging me not being to update. obviously im not able to work it out myself but i can follow instructions so any help from someone would be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance.

Could someone with a bit more knowledge please tell me if the reason I can't update the firmware is because the firmware csc is TGY when I'm in Australia or just because it's rooted or what? I'm getting no answers from the company who I bought it off

Are you trying to update via the phone update feature? If so this won't work as rooting disabled the ability Update using ota
First I tried OTA then downloaded samsung smart switch and gave that a go both no good. What I want to know is, if they had to root the phone to refurbish it will it brick it if I try to update? Won't it reset all the company I bought it off has done to it to refurbish it? Which I'm guessing is quite a process as when I look at the open source licenses there's a long list of files that have been changed. It just sucks that it's locked to a three year old version of the firmware that I'm worried apps will start to stop supporting in the near future? Apart from that I can not fault the phone there's been no problems, maybe I'm asking a bit much for a $400 phone?

From what I can tell you have a g920v variant if the phone Shows Verizon but the sure fire way to know what variant you have is turn the phone off once off hold home-power-volume down, this will take you to download mode but should tell you your variant. You don't need to root a phone to refurbish It, you can flash Stock firmwares via Odin. I really don't know why they would have Rooted It tbh, you'd need to contact them, but I know for sure you can manually download the latest Verizon firmware and the phone should work. Maybe they Rooted it as part of making it network unlocked, o really can't say
Ok I tried that and a bright blue screen came up warning about custom OS then press up volume for download and down volume for reset? I just pressed down as there was no other info on the screen but it does say it's a sm-g920v in the settings as well as the root checker app. Another thing was I did ring samsung support gave them the serial number and IMEI and they said an authorized modification had been done on the phone but could offer no other support as it wasn't an Australian phone. I'll keep trying to get some info out of the company I bought it off and try to sort it out thanks for your help :good:
