How to fix null IMEI 000000000000000 ? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

Hello guys, it's me again haha.
I haven't had so much trouble with any phone but the Mate 9. After I tried to restore my device to stock and it didn't work out and my phone didn't start anymore, so I made my MHA-L29C432 to a MHA-L29C636 Chinese Variant, so i can access the phone.. now my problem is, that I've no more IMEI and I can't find a way to restore it... I tried to update via Firmware Finder from Playstore; didn't work out because of different Model (obviously). Then I tried out mankindtw's method from here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108) and selected the latest B182-ROM, but now I still don't have any IMEI or Modelnumber, just NRD90M-test-keys and null imei.... I just want to get this damn phone to stock and sell it because it's driving me nuts. Does somebody now a way how to figure it out? Or is the only way funkyhuawei? Is it 100% guaranteed that funkyhuawei works?
Thank you very much and I hope that somebody is able to help me...

When you rebranded you 1st "rebrand" to the region you want, then after it was successful, you are supposed to go in the program again and run "update- to same phone" and run the program again. That should take care of all the problems

Unable to flash firmware using dload method.

Hello everyone,
Recently I got stuck in BLN-L21 and after lot of failures I was able to revert back to BLN-L22 thanks to a friend on xda. For that I have used oeminfo that he had generated on his phone and sent to me.
But now whenever I try to upgrade my current nougat version, I get always error from Huawei erecovery. Like "The version is incompatible with your current version". I have tried several times. My device is unlocked right now and I also installed TWRP 3.1.1-0.
Did anyone face the same issue before? If yes please let me know how did you solve it. Thank you

Whats the error ?
Whenever I try to flash any version of the firmware through dload method one red exclamation mark appears and it is written "The package is not compatible with the current system. Please download the correct package." I'm currently on BLN-L22C675B320.
I was able to revert back from BLN-21 to BLN-22. I'm facing this problem from that time and due to that the built-in
VoLTE doesn't work anymore.

Yes. I bought the Indian variant and while trying one day to roll back to MM bcz I was facing some touchscreen issue in Nougat, the phone when to NRD900-test keys. I tried several ways and I ended up changing my phone to another variant BLN-L21.
So recently a friend from the xda community gave me an oemfile info that je had backed up on an Indian variant. Using TWRP I therefore backup the current oeminfo which was from the oeminfo of BLN-21 to my SD card. I then replaced one of the 3 files by the oeminfo file that I got from my friend which is from the Indian variant. Again using TWRP I just restored the new oeminfo to revert back to BLN-L22.
But problem is from that time I can't flash any firmware anymore, my inbuilt VOLTE is also not working. My bootloadwr is currently unlocked. I tried to relock it but it always fails. I think that the trick that I did only spoiled my phone. That's the reason why I requested anybody to share with me their oeminfo file that they backed up using TWRP from the Indian variant. Hope you understood.

did you tried manually flashing boot and system images? download your original firmwares and extarct , then try to fastboot boot.img and system.img and see if it helps

So u mean that u had oeminfo of L22 is it ? I can fix that in two minutes if u have twrp:fingers-crossed:
Thank you all for your support. I tried relocking my phone thinking that It would solve the problem but I ended up bricking my phone. I then went to Huawei service center and they told me that my motherboard is damaged and they need to change it completely. I need to wait for one week.
Lesson of the story: Don't mess up with Huawei phones!

Honor 8 hard brick

Hello.
As many here my phone updated and soft-bricked. I tried to recover it but i guess i did it with wrong method and I hard-bricked it. Than by using dc unlocker phoenix and .app files provided by the online shop where i bought the phone i recovered it back to soft-brick, but now with the red warning message "your device has failed verification and may not work properly". Since than nothing else works - not Dload method (every update either fails or hard-bricks the phone) nor forcing updates through the dc unlocker. While it is hard bricked it does show up in fastboot device list, but that is all. Any ideas what else could I do? Please don't suggest dload method as I have stated above that it is not working.
Use rollback package to Emui 4.1
What do you mean by that? Flash it through fastboot or through the sd card?

thanks for your reply. The problem is that this method so far has not worked. I suspect it has to do with the fact that it is a FRD-AL00 model to which the seller has flashed FRD-L19. In the end this means that neither of rollback packages work. Plus replying to the last comment also - so far I am stuck as I do not have access to dc unlocker phoenix anymore and I am not willing to spend yet another 15 eur without clear plan what to do next. Any ideas how to bring the phone out of the hard brick aside from dc unlocker?

If either rollback to marshmellow dload of Al00 & FRD-L19 ? then use the DC unlocker client 2 . download and see there are some tutorials in youtube.:good:

Hi. To be honest I gave up and took it to service centre and they fixed it. Never told me how though.
I did send them the firmware that was provided for me by the manufacturer so I guess the answer lays somewhere in correctly flashing the correct firmware using some software that I do not have. Or something.
I am sorry that I cannot add anything more substantial to the discussion - I can post some information about what is on the phone now if that helps.

I have Honor 8 FRD-AL10 came with FRD-L19C636B360 from China.
After a notification for new update which I started, the phone bricked. Tried eRecovery, but unsuccessful. Couldn't receive the package from the server.
The only thing that worked out a bit was "dload" method with AL00 version from the link with fabric firmware http mega.nz........
But the phone starts to the language and region section and never runs correctly to the desktop. Always rotates about first "start screen".
No other software works out, tried almost everything.

I have not unlocked bootloader. I tried DC Phoenix but when I flashed firmware it said "your device has failed verification and may not work properly". Had others things to do at the time and tool expired and I want to know what to do before buying it again.
Solution:
Bought credits on FunkyHuawei and contacted support. The problem was that my phone model was FRD which doesnt exist. It should be FRD-L19, FRD-AL10 etc. Tools which are available for download on FunkyHuawei didnt work because this wasnt a common problem. But their support is excellent. They will help you till you get your phone working without asking for extra money.

Problem to update Huawei Mate 9

Hello, i’m new around here and i’m having a big problem with my Mate 9, model MHA-L09, with the official european ROM MHA-L09C432B186
The problem is that in this ROM the native Huawei apps are not available, there's no Theme stores, and not even Huawei ID. I can't change the ROM and i can't bootload it because the code that i receive doesn't work, so i can't update the phone. I don't know what to do anymore. I tested every tool, and my friends tried and failed too. The phone works normally, perfectly even. I just can't update nor modify anything.
Please, would someone help me?
My sincere thanks. :crying:

If you are willing to pay, just use funky huawei.
Or, you can try this method.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/funky-huawei-erecovery-solution-100-t3620165/page1
After do above method, do a full wipe.
This method do not require unlock bootloader
Thank you so much! I will try. I took it to gsm service. How stupid I am. Any more suggestions? pls help
we should download only when the IMEI is supported ,correct?

Check if "phone unlocked frp unlock" is still there in fastboot.
If it is it's pretty easy to fix without paying
Though it's weird you could flash a different brand using firmware finder, you normally need to flash oeminfo to be able to flash a different brand...
Or you could set up firmware finders proxy and use that to flash back L29C185 in recovery.
I went to gsm service and they managed to hard brick it. They say it is the motherboard. It is under warranty so I will send it to original hauwei service.

Any way to unbrick a P40 Pro? "Your device has loaded a different operating system"

So like a dummy I flashed the wrong firmware on my P40 Pro. LGRP6 instead of LGRP4. Now when booting it says "Your device has loaded a different operating system" and then goes straight to erecovery. In eRecovery, downloading and restoring the system doesn't work because it fails to retrieve package info.
I already tried everything possible with HiSuite Proxy, too. I read bricking a P40 Pro this way requires to replace the motherboard, but not sure how true that is. My phone is still under warranty, but I'd prefer to fix it myself, if possible.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, I just get retrieving package info failed. Every time
Then it seems motherboard replacement is the only known option left.
Same issue with me
I spent a month to fix it and didn't find a way.
I tried Chimera Mobile and it didn't helped.
The only thing that probably can help is SigmaKey software. If anybody has it please check and say did it helped or not.
Huawei don't want to replace it by warranty for me, that is why I try everything.

I can't find anybody with SigmaKey. Probably I'll go to replace the motherboard in the nearest future.
Other methods definetely don't help.
Do you have any update? Please share if yes.
Hi all! My device is finally fixed! It was fixed by disassembly, hardware testpoint and flashing of Android 11 via SigmaKey!
You have to find a very expirienced person to do this work. I can recommend one person in Moscow, Russia in private messages.
Disassembly is probably necessary

After 4 days trying everythingI found also a guy who told me exactly what you are saying. disassembly is required because of the test point. No other way currently.
SoI will go to a phone shop tomorrow to disassemble the back cover of my P40Pro+. Then the guy will do the whole flashing process via remote. But it's paid service for 30$. I decided to do or because I wanna use this phone.

The only other way is to try to replace the motherboard by warranty.
However, in my case Huawei refused me this.
I think 30$ is a good price because it was very difficult for me to find a person good enough to do it.
Hi guys. Just posting a small update here. I found a xda user who accepted to help me unbrick my P40 Pro for a donation via remote desktop. He will be using paid tools and hopefully it will unbrick the device. I'll post another update soon, to let you guys know the outcome. Fingers crossed!

It is not always possible without disassembly. (Like was in my case)
I wish you good luck but be ready for disassembly.
Another update. First of all big thanks to @oslo83 for accepting to help me with my bricked P40 Pro. Unfortunately things didn't go our way and the device is still bricked. The problem is that I flashed LGRP6 EMUI 11, with EMUI 10.1 preload & cust. A ****ty situation but it is what it is. @oslo83 advised me to take the device to Huawei repair center (it's still under warranty) and that's what I'm going to do.
However if anyone has a bricked P40 Pro, I still recommend oslo83 services, there's a chance your brick is different from mine and that he will be able to unbrick it. If not, he will issue a refund like he did for me.
Hi guys, I have a brilliant update for you guys:
The guy I was working on this issue was able to fix my phone remotely with SigmaKey. After hours of tries he made it!
There is no software solution yet - so the back cover has to be dissembled. I went to a phone shop at the corner and let them open it. After removing ca. 10 screws you can reach the "Test Point". There are some videos on YouTube which can support you. Its not easy but its makable.
The genius guy gives a step by step instruction what to do via WhatsApp.
So at the end my P40Pro+ works again and I am so happy! I will start the downgrade now (to install gms)and I will DEFINITELY use the correct FW this time
I can share the contact - send me a private message.
Another update hopefully the next one will be the FINAL one.
So like @oslo83 suggested, I contacted Huawei via chat on their official site. They accepted to repair my device for free with no problem. I sent my phone to the repair center and now I simply have to wait. The person in the Huawei chat told me it could take up to two weeks. And another thing, they let me know the phone will be updated to the latest firmware, so I probably won't be able to downgrade and install GMS, unless there is a way to install it on EMUI 11 (not sure). But at least I'll have a working P40 Pro again
I have the same problem. I'm tryingto fix it with hsuite proxy and the phone in fastboot&rescue mod
In HiSuiteConfig.xml I added to be able to enter the recovery mode
<rule type="ELS-N29" cnName="HUAWEI P40 Pro" enName="HUAWEI P40 Pro" option="" ></rule>
I'm testing to flash this:
Base version: ELS-LGRP4-OVS 10.1.0.176
Custom version: ELS-N29-CUST 10.1.0.8(C432)
Preload version: ELS-N29-PRELOAD 10.1.0.2(C432R5)
Checked "Recovery OS", CUST PKG and Preloaded PKG
So far it connects
I can download and unpack the firmware on the phone
but then I have an error-message on (Installing 0%) telling me, that on this phone the recovery mode is not available. I'm trying with different base firmware - but every attempt takes a lot of time.

It looks like I have flashed the following:
"FirmWare" : "ELS-LGRP4-OVS 11.0.0.170"
"FirmWare" : "ELS-N29-CUST 11.0.0.3(C301)"
"FirmWare" : "ELS-N29-PRELOAD 11.0.0.3(C635R2)"
Still trying to reflash ... any ideas?
I've built now my own dload
using the files downloaded by hsuite over hisuite proxy inside Hisuite\ROM/
and copy them on a USB-C-drive /dload
trying the usb-flashing method. So far it went only to 37%
