Same. I have g955usqu5crib Sprint locked. Is there any help in this area? I may have bricked my phone trying to flash an older version! hahahaha
To root sprint s8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-ubrnWdGT4
Except: if you have Oreo, download your firmware here (and not root junky): https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U/
-Regain charging ability to 100%: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEdmIDEKYtA
Note:
-Although your ui will will show 80%, you will be able to charge to 100%
-Lose secure folders
-Lose Samsung Pay
How can I get back to G955USQU5CRIB firmware. I think I may have rooted too early. Sprint didn't unlock the phone yet and I'm unable to flash to verizon.
My original plan was to flash from Sprint to Verizon so the phone could be used on that carrier. However, I'm stuck with Sprint software and the phone, although rooted is still locked to Sprint.

You can download that firmware at sammobile https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U/VZW/download/G950USQU5CRIB/239473/
Pretty sure bootloader cannot be downgraded.. and root it limited to Bootloader V2...
If you find different results let us know!

The bootloader version is the 5th number from far end of your current firmware 3 or higher cannot be rooted and the only method is partcyborg rom
there is no downgrading or nothing
if you have to have root get another device
you cannot use cf auto root or flash twrp as we have locked bootloaders
if the bootloader gets unlocked then yes cf auto root and junk will work then

Yea, I've had it for so long stock, just upgraded to s10+ and decided to just keep this as a secondary because it's still solid, no a single issue
(long time root user, webOS, epic touch 4g, then all even galaxy S devices) root was so fun!
Thanks for the post my friend, maybe someday this version will be cracked

After taking the APH1 update on my phone, I can no longer downgrade to PG5, and I also can't flash the PG9 U firmware. I don't know what Samsung/Verizon did, but it's ridiculous.
I'm now stuck on the APH1 firmware and can't get on the U firmware at all.
I haven't tried rooting, but there is no Odin firmware for APH1 yet, so I'm not going to try until there is, so that if I mess up my phone I can fix it.
What is the full firmware version number? If they updated the bootloader that would explain why you can't downgrade.
It's bootloader v4

Well for individuals who did update here is a link to the firmware in case it is needed. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BybvkLkW8XrDdlRSUGI5Y1VSM3c md5 43E1295CAA08F8E16E873F945728B7D5 @Misterxtc can mirror in the firmware thread if he chooses. But, DO NOT FLASH OR YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE! The only reason I flashed it was to convert my unlocked T-Mobile Device to Verizon as it was stuck on bootloader 3.
Why would the updated bootloader stop the root? Ru sure? Tmobile had there bootloader updated after the root exploit and was still able to root. It's a developmental kernal, can't see anything on update that would affect the exploit.

If the U firmware gets a upgrade and it's a matching bootloader version as any US carriers bootloader, I would bet it would be able to flash again.

It's not the bootloader that "patches" the root method... it was the security update in PH1 that broke root. The bootloader being V4, prevents you guys from going back to rootable firmware. You now need a new root method which PROBABLY won't happen

You might be able to flash a U ROM on top of the PF1 baseband. I was running EchoeRom after updating to PH1 and it was working fine. I flashed my stock PH5 backup to see how that runs now. So far so good.

I have a G930A on AT&T (although I think the "A" at the end signifies that) with rooted Nougat. Unfortunately it is extremely laggy, and I am wanting to downgrade from rooted Nougat to rooted Marshmallow (I really don't want to lose root). Is there a way that this can be done? There's a lot of stuff (ROMS, Kernals, etcetera) out there for the Exynos processor, but virtually nothing for Snapdragon. That's super depressing.

Root has nothing to do with downgrading ,also maybe on how your downloading the files its best to use a computer to download as android will only let u download up to 2gb files before it messes them up which varient firmware are u on now and what is ypur originating varient as mine is sprint and had to flash sprint to get to the u firmware
Aye, you can always downgrade using ODIN and Samsung's stock firmware files, although they take super long to complete downloading since the speed is capped -.-.
I'm pretty sure the bootloader did change. I will try going to QC1. Maybe i need to go back in steps?

updato.com has the same range of firmware that SamMobile has - however, this year they are running a special on high-speed downloads. No registration required, either. Input your model number, download at high speed, profit. (They support download managers, too.)

So I just picked this phone up from Best Buy, it was cheap and unlocked. Already have it working with a T-Mobile SIM. I'm somewhat new to Samsung devices, but I'm pretty sure this means it's an unlocked bootloader too.. In Developer Options there is a switch for "OEM unlock," which allowed me to flash TWRP built for the SM-J327P, ending up in a nice bootloop.
Anyway that's not the point, I used Samsung KIES to reflash a stock image and it's back to normal.
Assuming this bootloader is unlocked, what do I need to flash to get root? Does this mean I have to build TWRP myself?

I have a Leagoo T5c, and I found that option in Developer settings too, so if it is self-explanatory, then bootloader should be unlockable, right? I too would like to root my phone, but contrarily to the S8, that uses a MediaTek SoC, mine uses a brand-new SpreadTrum chip, and I'm not sure it can rooted at the moment.

less heat, less lag, camera less grainy indoors (before was grainy but great outdoors, now its both great) curved display was fix(no need for rounder apps) but i was still unable to root the phone (would be great if it was rooted so i can remove apps rather than disable them and tune things up)

can you confirm if the boot-verified.img
inside the firmware of leagoo s8 that i download can be used for magisk to be patch and flash it through adb? thanks
From what Ive found, modifiing any of the boot or recovery files will screw up some verification, then youll have to format and flash the whole rom again possibly getting a NVRAM Warning error. So, does anyone know a way to verify(?) the edited files (boot.img -> build.prop(or default.prop?)), or any workaround? Also, I think that the bootloader kind of worked in the Leagoo OS version that came with the phone (althrough, I tried to unlock the bootloader then, it showed YES/NO and warnings like on any good phone, except that the YES selection did NOTHING, the bootloader stayed locked no matter what), havent you guys by any chance updated from Needrom?(I did) I think that the newer version had removed the bootloader completely. Someone should post the first stock rom version if you have it.

I think that in order to flash any modified files, we need to generate/verify all of the files.
Anyone any ideas? What file/s is/are the key to verifying flash files? Or is there a code somewhere in every flash file (recovery-VERIFIED.img, boot-VERIFIED.img)?
Why is Leagoo so damn good at making those things hard to unlock. As I said before, in the 1. version you could at least access (broken) fastboot, now the phone just turns off when accessing fastboot.
latest firmware with user debug possibly can extract root
latest firmware userdebug..possibly root solution can be extract..

Any news?
I just purchased this S7 from "Amazon Renewed" with a 90-day warranty and 2 yrs of insurance. It was sold as a "Verzion S7", and it has the "Verizion√" logo on the back. But the model shown in Software Information says G930U (not G930V), and the firmware is G930UUESACSI1. Also, it has no Verizon Bloatware; it's squeaky clean.
What do I have here..? Is it the Verizon hardware, but flashed with the unlocked firmware..?
Can this be rooted..? (that's where I was headed with this)
Also, the bootloader seems to be R16NW, which I see on S8 & S9 too..? I guess the bootloader version can vary widely across many models..? (I didn't know that until just now).
that seems like it

Your bootloader version is "A" which is #10. If you look in the Verizon S7 thread you'll see how to root nouget/Oreo firmware. There is a link to the eng-boot you need posted bear the end of the thread. You just need to follow the op to root. Hopefully the SI1 firmware is still rootable.

Thank you. Could you reply with a link to the correct thread? I did start reading one with 11 pages, but after 6 Pages my eyes fell out of my head. I'm not even sure I was reading the correct one.

Holy cow, that thread is huge. I think that's going to take me a while, lol.
I also bought one of the cheap Verizon S7s from ebay. It's running the same 930U Oreo firmware and is fast and clean.
I really want root and so I have been looking for an engineering boot that I can use to enable it, however the highest version I can find is v9 and I need v10.
Does anyone have the v10 eng boot image?

First, always start with a factory reset in order to avoid any further issues. Enable ADB Debugging and run this script before anything, in order to avoid the constant re-booting and OTA updates after flashing the eng-boot.

Second, flash the eng-boot and let it sit there for about 30 minutes without touching the phone, then again enable ADB Debugging .

Third, run the https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid...63190603904440 file and follow the instructions in the OP.
This has not worked for me so far, but I will try again.

Success!
I'm using linux so I extracted the engineering boot.img file from the archive and flashed it. After that I was able to remount all the system partitions RW via ADB and then I could install root!
The engineering boot image is noticeably slower than the stock one so the next step will be to try and replace just the stock boot image to get the faster kernel back again.
