Any one else seing a major performance drop after the update? Almost every app now loads 3 times as slow if it doesnt crash out and have to force close. Youtube videos get verry laggy and hang sometimes for 10 to 20 seconds before the app plays catchup and throws all frames in from time it got stuck to current play time in the video. Also screen off gps is nonexistent. I use geofencing in smartthings and it worked flawlessly before. Also smartthings app notifications will not show up until the screen is on. Ive set it to ignore data and battery with no luck. I have wiped the phone in fastboot and reapplied the update in uppercut. Still the same issues. Surely I'm not the only one. Maybe I'm the only one still hanging in to this phone these days. ?
Nope, quite the opposite, the phone feels noticeably faster and smoother after the update.
edit: Nvm, I'm not on T-Mobile.

I have an issue with WiFi on my factory unlocked A9.
When on WiFi and using Flipboard, a lot of times the page will refuse to load with, "No connection, retry". I flick back and try again, and it works. If I turn off WiFi and use data, I never get that. But, about 50% of the time, I will get the "No connection, retry" notice but as soon as I flick back and try again, it works about 90% of the time. Sometimes, it will take 3 or 4 flicks back and forth. BUT, this never happens if I turn WiFi off. My WiFi is my home network and I'm sitting within 10 feet of the router, signal strength is not the issue.
Also, when watching a video that was linked inside Flipboard, my A9 will refuse to play the video in landscape mode, just keeps cycling between the play symbol and the pause symbol. But, if I leave the video in portrait mode, hit play, then after it starts playing turn the phone on its side for landscape, the video will keep playing without a problem. It will not play initially in landscape mode at all.
My A9 is completely stock factory unlocked version with the latest ota updates. Everything else about the phone works fine, with the exception of the above two issues. I get great battery life since the last ota update and am very happy overall with the phone.
Not happy about not being Gorilla Glass 4 and my glass is not flat. When you look at my screen at an angle against a light source, the screen is very wavy, I mean the worst I've ever seen on any of my phones. I do not feel anything so can't tell if this reflection is off the surface or below the surface. My old Galaxy S5 screen doing the exact same thing is flat as could be, no distortion at all but the A9 looks like the image is on acid or something, disconcerting.
Thanks for any help...
Hello everybody! My phone (SM N915F) has a problem of stuttering/lag spike. Every 7 to 15 seconds phone gets stuck for about 1 second. When using an app (say, camera) every 4-6 seconds I get a lag spike. I tried to solve this myself, I checked if this is a software problem (changed rom, 3 different roms), tried in recovery if it lags (it does not), tried other apps etc. I checked logcat to see what happens when phone gets stuck, I saw a service(?) choreographer says "choreographer skipped N frames", which as I searched on internet, choreographer syncs apps with display, so actually screen does not gets rendered for N frames for no reason. Did anybody ever had this issue? I have assured there is no storage problem.
youtube app freezes randomly while playing videos. it starts playing again after 10 seconds or so.
i 've also noticed that if i pull up the keyboard in another app (while youtube video is frozen), the keypress sound doesn't work.
it seems like the audio component of android craps out at random times which causes the freezing issues.
happens rarely but it's annoying nonetheless. and it only happens in youtube. never had any audio/video issues with mxplayer.
is it just my phone, or is this also happening to other folks with the z5?
running official firmware 7.1.1. I was using NOBA firmware (7.1.1) before, but i have since switched to Canadian firmware(7.1.1). So far so good, but I'm sure this problem will come back soon enough. I've also tried 7.0 Global firmware and youtube crapped out on that too.
No unlocked bootloaders/roots or anything like that. Running pure stock mode.
Full wipe and flash last rom.
Hi
On my 3a i have a very laggy appswitcher, you know when swiping up and hold for a sec, it lags a lot, but suddenly today it was very fluid, and the i restartet the phone and its laggy again.
anyone have thos problem ? maybe i should reset and see if it helps.
Similar problem. Appswitcher is very buggy. Not laggy, but sometimes it freezes for a short time or doesn't work at all.
I updated to Android 10 via system->OTA (Magisk OTA howto)
yeah it's been all over the place throughout the beta process. thought it would be tighter by now but i'm still having a lot of random behaviour with it. sometimes i'll swipe up and the screen will just be blank? anyway i guess we just have to watch and wait.
Hey there,
yesterday I got the famous "GOS" firmware update and after having it installed my phone feels different. It happens in apps but not only that - for example as I switch from one screen with apps to another it slows down for a fraction of a second, a kind of micro stutter. Before the update it was butter smooth. I checked if the animations are still set to 0.5 (yes), 120Hz (yes) and wiped the cache but it is still the same.
Anybody else has the same problem, or even better, a solution? Thanks
Not got the update, but I manually disabled GOS, while I noticed it was smoother in various games and apps, I did notice some lag / stutters in places when it was enabled it was smooth.

Thanks, what is strange I didnt even disable it. I just got the new update but this bad result remains the same with GOS on or off regardless.
If anyone ever finds this and wonders how it ended - all my problems (when it comes to the phone) seem to be solved after a factory reset. The phone is much smoother, GB5 results good 20% higher and battery SOT time has gone up to over 8 hours. It was probably some artefact brought over via SmartSwitch that had caused the problems. Happy days now.
