How to install gapps? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I excedently did something that removed the Playstore. Now when I install a apk, I can't download any apps, and if I try to it will crash. I've tried to use open gapps but didn't work. I got a error message when installing it with TWRP. So how can I fix this? Or is there a other way to get the Playstore back? (I am on Android 9)

it sounds like you're on stock, in that case flashing the rom should get you your playstore back

[Q] Help, No Play Store Installed

Hope someone out there can help this noob out.
I have a Galaxy Tab GT-p5110. Yesterday I rooted it, installed Titanium Backup and did a full backup.
I then installed CWM and managed to install cm-10.1.3 and a package of gapps.
Very happy so far to get all the bloatware off the unit but there is no play store in the gapps package.
I cant install any apps, I have tried to do this via the browser. it says installing etc but the app never appears.
when I try to update the rom via settings/about phone CyanogenMod Updates it downloads the new ROM and reboots but then aborts the install. When I try to install a gapps package it says it cant verify the signature file.
I guess the main fault is the lack of Play Store, without it you cant do anything.
I have Odin and cant find a file .md5 or tar file to install.
Edit: I have since found i can drop the Play Store .apk file and install it from the sd card, this process worked but when i try to open Play Store, it opens momentarily, then closes......
Any help much appreciated.

Went through your steps carefully a few times but Play Store still only opens for a brief second, then disapears, I didnt quite understand step 3, clear account. play store version is 4.3.10 and Android version is 4.2.2,
Kernel version
3.0.31-CM-gac1803c

Please help when you can, thanks and regards
Be sure you flashed the 4.2.2 gapps, the latest gapps (gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip) is for 4.3.

Ok, got gapps-jb-20130812 which is the correct one. went into recovery mode and selected "apply update from external storage" selected the file then I get:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Then it all stops and i have to re-boot. I think if i can get this package onto the device then all will be good,
thanks in advance for your help
Hi, i would recommend you to do the following:
1) Download cyanogen mod 10.1.3 stable(4.2.2 android version) and gapps package 20130812 which is compatible with that version of cm
2) Copy them to your sd card (internal or external)
3) Download a md5 checker ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135620 ) and verify that the files in your tablet have the right md5
4) boot into cwm, do a wipe data/factory reset (important), wipe dalvic cache and install cyanogen mod first and then the google packet
its important to make a factory reset as there are data in your tablet which will conflict with other versions of gapps
Solved
followed the steps carefully and it all worked fine, I cannot thank katsika and nasheich enough, you guys rock and roll.
Muchos Gracias

App wont install

Hi. New version of Remote Play found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/ps4-remote-play-t2929147[1]
Asks you to go into recovery and flash the zip. I had a working version of the app which was installed from a normal APK, and it worked fine. I uninstalled this APK and downloaded the new one and flashed it. It said it installed successfully however when I turn the phone on, the app isn't there. Not showing up in Settings -> Apps either. Wiped dalvik cache and still no luck.
Downloaded the old version where you install by APK and it tries install then says "App not installed". It's like its detected a newer version that I can't see.
Anybody have any idea how I can fix this?

Cannot flash OpenGapps

I rebranded my phone to AL10(chinese) which came pre-installed with only three Google apps: Google Play Services, Google Account Manager, Google Services Framework. I installed Play Store manually through an apk. But I'm getting frequent crashes, can't use Google Payment etc. etc.
So, I thought about flashing clean Gapps which might solve these problems and save me from installing the whole bunch of Google Apps. But it gives me error everytime I try to do that:
I thought the size might be the issue so I downloaded the nano version but it gave me the same error.
You need to repair your system partition. You can try that in twrp. Go to wipe. Advanced wipe. System partition. Resize/change file system. Resize file system. SHOULD fix it

Do NOT flash OpenGapps on Stock ROM.
Install Play Store through the in built Huawei Market and not through any external APK.

Won't my entire ROM get wiped out that way?

Shouldn't. But since hack has installed the beta already, you should go with his advice instead just in case.

[Solved] OnePlus Launcher Update failed after downgrade.

When my Oneplus 6 upgraded to Pie, I hated the new horizontal recent apps switcher, so I found this article detailing how to revert to vertical. I saw in update logs that the new app switcher has been optimized and improved especially for gesture navigation. I decided I might as well give it another try. I downloaded the latest version of Oneplus Launcher from APK mirror, but when I tried to install, it said "App not installed." What do I have to do in order to get the Launcher to update? I'm on a Oneplus 6 running OOS 9.0.2, rooted with Magisk. OnePlus Launcher version 2.5.1.180803161901.ff750b1 is installed alongside the latest Nova Launcher. If I try installing any version of OnePlus Launcher past 2.5.1.180803161901.ff750b1, it says app not installed. I have Titanium Backup installed if that could be used to fix anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Infixed it with a dirty flash of the ROM. I always have it on the phone in case I mess something up.
While your at it I might just aswell update to newest firmware.
I'm about to upgrade to 9.0.3. Would that do the trick?

Yupp.
From twrp
Flash ROM
Flash twrp reboot to twrp
Flash magisk. Done.
From OS.
Run update, let it install untill it asks you to reboot DONT reboot.
Go to magisk manager
Search for module "A/B twrp" you Will have One module.. , install it, don't reboot.
Go to magisk first page, install , install, install to inactive slot (After OTA) now your done. Reboot
Updated to 9.0.3 as per instructions. Still on the old launcher version. Still says app not installed when I try to update to the latest APK.

Try uninstalling updates on the launcher through app settings?
Or
Install any launcher (Nova) and install App Remover from play store. Developer is jumobile. You must be rooted. This will allow you to uninstall system apps that are otherwise unable to uninstall. Uninstall OnePlus launcher, reboot phone and then install your app.

There is no uninstall updates button for OnePlus Launcher in settings.
Uninstalled with Titanium Backup and successfully installed the latest apk. Unfortunately, now the multitasking view is broken. If I open it, sometimes it says "No recent items" and other times I get a error message that "OnePlus Launcher keeps crashing"
Restored the backup I made of the downgraded OnePlus Launcher I had so I have a multitasking screen again. Guess I should have made a backup of the original OnePlus launcher before I downgraded...
Launcher still will not update.
I've had an idea. Could someone with Titanium backup make a backup of the latest OnePlus Launcher and a Backup of OnePlus Launcher with updates uninstalled, then post the files?

Boot TWRP with 9.0.3 and twrp zip on a USB otg. Or with it downloaded on a computer. Format data. (The one that makes you type yes)
If on a USB otg, go to install and select your USB storage and install 9.0.3 add zip to que and select TWRP. Reboot TWRP and repeat.
If no USB otg make sure you're connected to a computer and transfer over the mentioned files and undergo that process. This should put you on a clean slate and maybe you can get the launcher your want
Fixed with a data wipe and fresh ROM flash.
