Bought A Phone Off Ebay, How Can I TRULY WIPE The fUNK OUT Of IT? - Android General

Hello All,
trying to get my learn on.. heard about Nethunter and want to throw it on some mobile devices.
Read their page and they strongly recommended and stated the OnePlus One was their recommended device. So I purchased it on eBay and am raring to go but then life interfered.. Almost a year now has gone by since I purchased it.
Fast fwd to about 2 weeks ago.. Out of Nowhere the seller hit me up stating if everything was ok since the phone hasn't been used. I emailed him back thanking him for his concern and stated I was curious as to how he knew it hadn't been used? 2 Weeks and still no reply..
That got me thinking.. maybe this phone has been "COMPROMISED"
#1 How best to verify and confirm I have a clean phone, I have done nothing but sign it on to my WiFI here at home and used it for a total of less than 30mins to test that it worked...
#2 Anyone familiar with Nethunter and have a best practice guide on how to install on a device? Their webpage lists the following, " Our freely downloadable images come with easy to follow installation and setup instructions to get you up and running in no time at all." However I have downloaded several times the img's and these so-called "easy" instructions are now where to be found.. When I google I come across blogs with 50+ steps.. so I just wanna make sure I'm following something decent before I give it WHAT FOR!
please advise!

Transfer ANY data from old phone to new

I realize there are a few other threads about this, but I scanned them and I didn't see anything laid out all in a row. I'm short on time, I'm selling this phone tomorrow. In a nutshell:
*I have an HTC Arrive (original) and a Samsung Focus (new)
*I can dev unlock since I paid the $99
*I know how to flash ROMs on Android and even hack a bit from the old WM6.5 days.
*I'm decently resourceful
At this point are there any ways to transfer texts from old to new? If it's a bit involved that's okay as long as it's concise and I can follow it. Game data would also be nice but no biggie. I've seen terms like "interop unlock" but don't know what that is, etc. Various threads have various "this only works if" and "no longer works" so basically I'm looking for a latest steps version.
Did you read either the "interop unlock" thread (the explins exactly what it is) or the "unlocks that are available by phone model" thread (that just started yesterday and is very clear)?
Short version though: you can't currently backup SMS on the Arrive, unless you revert to NoDo (before the interop-lock). It sucks, but MS has been quite unhelpful in terms of backup solutions, and the inability of the Arrive to use Connection Setup has crippled some of our efforts on the phone.
You could flash a custom ROM, but that would wipe all your data so it's not a very useful option.

Yeah I'm really sorry to have shot from the hip when I posted, but I had done some research a few weeks ago and hadn't planned on selling my Arrive so quick. Your post was exactly what I was looking for, nothing has changed since I read that previously. The new thread I'll check out though, thanks.

Rooted G2x won't get past LG logo on reboot.

Before anyone chews me out for thinking I haven't researched this here, believe me I've already spent hours over the last couple days researching XDA and tried all kinds of things and I'm just at a loss for knowing what else I can do from what's available (some download links don't work etc.), and from what I remember from way back when I first rooted the phone. I take care of my developmentally disabled sister and don't have a lot of spare time to devote to researching this. No time and always stressed from my caregiver responsibilities. Not asking for sympathy, just understanding that I can't devote a lot of research time for this. I learned how to root the phone from XDA without bothering anyone, but this just has me stumped. Tried NVflash (this will flash the images to the phone, but still can't get past LG logo), LG updater / alternate updater tool (neither will see the phone),
I'm willing to pay for either an absolute certain fix with clear instructions and download links for any software needed that work, or possibly sending the phone to someone that can get the thing working again for a reasonable price. Keep in mind I can wait for a cheap broken phone on Ebay to replace the motherboard. I also luckily had another G2x that had Froyo and not rooted, but I decided to update it to GB even though the camera sucks. I uploaded two Youtube vids to show what's happening with it. I can't post links yet, but this is the extension for part 1 at Youtube: /watch?v=ulZzWFgNosY and part 2 :/watch?v=YVV9Vzbz0dg. Just ad these to the youttube url after the .com

After going to the store to get soup and remedies for my sister (just came down with a cold... sigh), I sat down at my computer and was disappointed that I didn't even get a response let alone an offer to help -NOT EVEN FOR PAY! So I went over what I'd done the last two days and figured it out. Phone works now, but the problem was the person's instructions were terrible. So no credit and no money. Sorry, I had to work too hard to work out what was not clearly instructed. There's a lot of that here I find. The person knows what they're talking about in their mind, but they sometimes fail to convey it clearly in written form and give instructions that are not easy to follow. Anyway, a general thanks is in order for XDA. :good:
Good to hear that your phone is working C:

Pretty sure a high majority of people that write the guides are in high school, so there's that.

Buying a used sheild. What to check.

Ok buying a original Shield today. I was trying to see what do i have to check to make sure that its a good one. I know all the basic stuff but in terms of software updates and the battery?
Nevermind seller is not honest. Said it was one not effected by the retail then when asked for a screen shot they said its a Y01
That's fine as long as they haven't done the recall yet. You can still get a brand new one and keep the old.
Since the similar thread exists, I am trying to get my answer here...Just as OP posted here, i am getting an used Shield with Y01 battery. Since its working so far, i assume Kill switch hasn't push thru.
I also read about the thread as how to disable it and i am confident enough to do that once i get my hand on tablet. However last i did any kind of tinkering with devices is with Atrix 2 device back in 10. so its been a while now..
Can you guys please give me a quick steps reference as what I need to do once i get the device.
Here is what my understanding so far
1. Before connecting internet and my account, Unlock and Root
2. Follow up the steps to disable kill switch trigger?
What is the earlier post about "as long as they haven't done the recall yet. You can still get a brand new one ". How we can know about recall?
Much appreciated. Thank you.
I just know,

Tab E T560nu/LineageOS/NetHunter

this is the first device I've had success modding, and i was blown away when i was able to install NetHunter as well I started this crazy business about a year and a half ago when i got an S6 for my wife and an S6 Edge+ for my daughter, needless to say I was not successful modding those devices I was almost discouraged to the point that i was going to pursue a different hobby when i came across some dude selling a samsung Tab E (probably hot) that was locked, and, go figure, the dude didn't have the password. i gave him $50 and decided to give it a go.
as the process dragged on i realized, and no offense to the almighty devs, that i needed to stop adhering to all the "rules". it's quoted like scripture here that one should NEVER try to flash components that don't match... lol

Curiosity
First off I have to say the first link is likely a phishing link. It pops up some reward for 5 billionth search and if you back out wrong another rewards page pops up. Mods please remove the link for security issues.
Second the github nethunter installer is no longer a valid repository.
Ok I'm really curious about putting nethunter on this device. I've had it rooted since I bought it. Twrp on it with a stock rom (oreo) but far outdated security updates. I see in this post I can throw lineage os on it which I never knew was possible before seeing this post. I couldnt find any custom roms. I'm going to flash that reguardless. I did several times in this device flash different versions of this stock rom and never had a problem. Atm I've got a nook device haha. So I know this device is versatile with or without the patching link.
The only place I can find nethunter is on kali site. But obviously this device is not on their page for downloads. I see theyve got a couple different generic android kernel downloads but I'm unsure of they will setup correctly. I cant see any assuring information that I wont damage the device flashing. I can deal with any brick, I just dont want to damage any chip.
This person really didnt layout how he went about it and just posted some useful links of repositories or tools. I really want nethunter and being I cant have it on my newer bootloader locked samsungs, and I dont have the funds for the one plus 7 pro atm, I'm hoping someone can assist me or give me a little more information on how to get nethunter. I have several kali builds on pc and laptops and VMS dating back to 2015 but as far as a useful handheld os I dont have and am unfamiliar with, yet i want it sooo bad. Thanks

Where To Buy???

Literally every website I have seen so far says that LineageOS 17.1 works with OnePlus Nord N100, except the official LineageOS wiki. Maybe not literally, but I'm getting very frustrated because I started with LineageOS's website, searched Amazon for a OnePlus Nord, they have Zero (that I can see) and instead keep redirecting me to the N100.
Sites like https://lineageos-device-finder.org/devices/avicii-oneplus-nord when you click "Check Price" it takes you to Amazon's N100 page. Not helpful since they're not the same phone.
Not realizing a difference, I bought the N100. Thankfully, I went to double check the versions prior to start the process of loading TWRP and such. But now I just spent $200 on a phone, hopefully I can return to Amazon. Or risk keeping it hoping that a LineageOS release comes to this phone. But, I can't find any information on whether Lineage is developing a version for the N100.
So, back to my main question: Where can I find the base Nord for sale? Amazon. Ebay. Nothing I can find says this is a Nord avicii. Is the N10 an avicii? Not even OnePlus' own website tells me which version is the avicii.
I apologize if my frustration is coming out in this post. I've been looking for days and not finding answers is only increasing my frustration. So if someone could point me int he right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Okay, I kinda found my answer. But before I get to that, I want thank everybody here at XDA. You guys are awesome! I've been rooting my phones for over ten years that the smarter than people over here.
To answer my own question, after taking a break and doing some digging, apparently this phone is not available in the US. It would have been nice if Lineage or something somewhere called the avicii an international phone, but it is what is it.
If you came trying to find a OnePlus Nord and can only find the N100, the rooting steps by Alex over at https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/method-for-root-oneplus-nord-n100-be2011-unlocked.4298907/ worked like a charm. I'm gonna go over there and post a review of the process.
Thanks again everybody.
