Rooted G2x won't get past LG logo on reboot. - T-Mobile LG G2x

Before anyone chews me out for thinking I haven't researched this here, believe me I've already spent hours over the last couple days researching XDA and tried all kinds of things and I'm just at a loss for knowing what else I can do from what's available (some download links don't work etc.), and from what I remember from way back when I first rooted the phone. I take care of my developmentally disabled sister and don't have a lot of spare time to devote to researching this. No time and always stressed from my caregiver responsibilities. Not asking for sympathy, just understanding that I can't devote a lot of research time for this. I learned how to root the phone from XDA without bothering anyone, but this just has me stumped. Tried NVflash (this will flash the images to the phone, but still can't get past LG logo), LG updater / alternate updater tool (neither will see the phone),
I'm willing to pay for either an absolute certain fix with clear instructions and download links for any software needed that work, or possibly sending the phone to someone that can get the thing working again for a reasonable price. Keep in mind I can wait for a cheap broken phone on Ebay to replace the motherboard. I also luckily had another G2x that had Froyo and not rooted, but I decided to update it to GB even though the camera sucks. I uploaded two Youtube vids to show what's happening with it. I can't post links yet, but this is the extension for part 1 at Youtube: /watch?v=ulZzWFgNosY and part 2 :/watch?v=YVV9Vzbz0dg. Just ad these to the youttube url after the .com

After going to the store to get soup and remedies for my sister (just came down with a cold... sigh), I sat down at my computer and was disappointed that I didn't even get a response let alone an offer to help -NOT EVEN FOR PAY! So I went over what I'd done the last two days and figured it out. Phone works now, but the problem was the person's instructions were terrible. So no credit and no money. Sorry, I had to work too hard to work out what was not clearly instructed. There's a lot of that here I find. The person knows what they're talking about in their mind, but they sometimes fail to convey it clearly in written form and give instructions that are not easy to follow. Anyway, a general thanks is in order for XDA. :good:

Good to hear that your phone is working C:

Pretty sure a high majority of people that write the guides are in high school, so there's that.

[Q] Paying Developers to customize your phone !

Am a Non-conformist, I don't try to follow the herd's travels in getting the Best looking customizing on my phone. I became really frustrated with my G2 over the past few days and I'll tell you why .
The G2 is the only phone that I have to go through different hoops in order to hack it to be able to install a custom ROM on it ! After all, the whole idea is to be able to customize it to begin with with some fancy screens and new apps. Every time a new ROM comes out, were all racing to get it installed and working on our devices and were left with a huge mess. Can you honestly remember what ROM you installed last week and have you forgotten what procedures to take before installing your New fancy Rom over it ?
Every time I come here and look at the ROMS being worked on, it seems that you have to follow that developers procedures in order to get it working and guess what, if you BRICK it, it's your own damn fault ! Ain't no one here to blame you for trying out that new fancy Rom, right !
What got me worked up was this, I received a picture from someone via mms and after previewing it on my G2, it closed the thread and took me to my list of sms threads and I still can't figure out how to save the damn picture to my phone !
Maybe, I just overlooked something and maybe I installed an app from the market that changed some small aspect regarding sms and mss messaging, I don't know and frankly, I dislike coming to any forum and having my intelligence questioned by some smart ass nerd who knows more then I do, only because he has the information to fix my problem but is not willing to share the solution until he makes himself Glorified.
Developers are indeed SMART and very SKILLED at what they do but it just seems to me that all it takes is just 1 individual to bring down the Fame and Glory because this 1 individual fails to follow instructions.
How about let's change all this to an idea I have.
An individual comes here with a NEW factory carrier phone, he wants to have it customized his way, He's willing to pay a certain developer to cook a BASE ROM, let's say $25.00 dollars and he likes it, Now he wants certain apps that make it work, let's say he's willing to pay $ 5.00 to 10.00 at the very least, depending on the apps usage. NOW, this NEW owner has his own phone customized to his liking, He's happy as a clam, right ? Maybe and maybe not.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas like this? Is it worth trying here ?
If developers had the time to handle your phone the amount of money you are suggesting would probably not buy that time. Also I think it is customary here to take donations and not payment for services. Sorry about your bad experience. Not all of the smart people here are so unrefined as the ones you encountered. Try to keep a cool head. Everything that happens to your phone after the instant it is rooted is ultimately YOUR PROBLEM, like it or not, and that goes for everybody, including smarty pants geeks! If your not a paid member you might want to consider becoming one. If you're new around here it probably couldn't help to have something going for you. If you think you got off on the wrong foot with somebody, PM them a well thought out apology, you might make a friend and get the help you need. Just a thought.

Help me help my wife...

My wife has been suck with an LG Vortex for the last few months, and Verizon really is dragging its feet helping us. They want to issue replacement after replacement, when I've found that its a base issue with the phone.
The issue being some sort of screen saber, looks like dock mode almost, that pops up at the most random times, in her purse, while she's texting, on a call, tweeting, whatever. We've resetted it twice now, and that seems to stave it off for a few hours.
So, has anyone owned this phone, us it worth rooting? I found a few posts online about rooting it, not sure how well it works.
The worst part, is that she's seen my bionic, and knows what a smart phone should be, stock. She really wants to just switch phones, but we have 8 months till she's eligible for an upgrade, and Verizon wants us to follow their script first, before we even get the option.
I just think they'll drag it out until we are eligible for an upgrade. As it stands, her phone dies in a couple of hours, just sitting in her desk drawer, which negates its use as an emergency item in case something happens at work.

There is no forum for the Vortex, so not much development. Probably have to stick it out or get an off-contract phone. You won't be able to access the marketplace here on XDA since you haven't been a member long enough, but there are sometimes good deals on ebay if you are careful.
I found a couple of posts here on XDA that stated z4root would at least give you root access to able to clean out bloatware and such.

Was thinking about getting root on it. Talking with verizon still, don't want to give them any reason to go "HA! IT WAS YOU!!!" if they want to swap units and find that I rooted it. I know it's rare, but I've become less than.... courteous with these folks, and I'm sure that there's at least one person who'd like to stick it to me.

[Q] Is root possible on 5.0.1?

I spent the past hour or so looking everywhere I could and trying a few things that looked promising, most notably this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727 Step 0 worked just fine (as far as I can tell) but I can't get into fastboot.
I just got a new M8 through verizon's insurance. My old one running kitkat I was able to root with relative ease, but this one I can't find anything. I've mostly been eliminating posts by date, since (according to wikipedia at least) lollipop was released in November 2014, so I rule out posts like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697957 since they'll apply to kitkat.
I apologize if I missed a post with my answer already. I know how annoying it can be to ask questions that have already been answered, but like I said, I couldn't find anything.

Short answer is no. You cannot unlock via HTC dev as Verizon has blocked it. Sunshine does not support this os yet.
You might be able to find someone nearby with a java card who can s-off your phone.
Are there any shops that might have java cards and let people use them? I've been itching to use some custom roms but I live on the other side of the country from dottat

I live on the complete opposite side of the country from dottat. But I overnighted my device to and from him just to get it done. (I have a friend that get's 80%+ discounts through FedEx)
But I am sad to say, my device has been destroyed due to hardware failure. (My screen is having a problem, my earpiece is no longer functional, and my volume up button no longer works, all because of my screen cracking... if anyone knows where I can get replacement parts, please PM me.

[Completed] Locked relative out of phone :(

Hey all, firstly, sorry this is a rushed post but I'm hoping I can get some advice and pointed in the right direction. I'll start by saying I'm fairly experienced in tech and with Android.
So, a family member was having problem with her new android phone (Samsung J ... 6, 5 or something, I can find out) so I said I'd just do a factory reset - there was nothing on there she was worried about losing).
Long story short, this new security feature (if stolen) where you can't just factory reset has completely screwed me over. They are not tech orientated and can not remember the original google login they made, and barely half of the security questions to remember the original google account. I just want to cry. What was a basic factory reset has turned out to looking like I've 'bricked' their phone. I obviously haven't but it doesn't look good. I've read there's an APK to skip this google sign in step, and I feel competent to do it, but I feel like things can only get worse by this point. There is still hope to reset the google account, but what is your experience using this skip sign in APK. It sounds too easy, for would be thieves, and I don't trust it much. I'm thinking this has gone far enough, I should just tell her to take it back to the provider (EE UK) She's only had it a month. Any idea if they can do this in store or it'll be sent off. Any other words of advice with this skip sign in APK; pulling hair out, thanks
EDIT: Am I right in thinking I can't contact google any further to get the original account back?

Greetings!
Thank you for using XDA Assist.
Having the correct phone model would be helpful here because there are different methods available for fixing this issue. Google will be of no help whatsoever. You can try to bring the device to an authorized Samsung repair center, if available. Also I do recommend bringing it back to the original place of purchase.
Good luck!
Thanks for your reply and sorry for mine being so slow. I guess I'm on my own with this one, but if you can point me to the most favoured guide for a Samsung J36 (I think that is J3 (6) I would appreciate it.
The APK method seems seems easy enough but I'm really worried it has been patched out, seeing as it's a relatively new phone. The last thing I want to do is make it worse. Could you advise how safe the APK method is? usual disclaimers aside
I went into EE today and they weren't much help; they said there's not much they can do, which I don't believe, if we can prove the phone is from them, only a month ago. Thanks for your help. Stress :S

I haven't seen one for the J3 specifically, as there isn't a specific forum for that model on XDA. May I recommend doing a search to see what turns up. I know that official Samsung repair centers can fix this problem.
Will do, thanks. I wanted to avoid paying for a fix but if it keeps things safe, so be it. I'd have to travel so hopefully they'd do it on the spot. ty

Bought A Phone Off Ebay, How Can I TRULY WIPE The fUNK OUT Of IT?

** WRONG LOCATION**
posted to https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/bought-phone-off-ebay-how-truly-wipe-t3852632
Hello All,
trying to get my learn on.. heard about Nethunter and want to throw it on some mobile devices.
Read their page and they strongly recommended and stated the OnePlus One was their recommended device. So I purchased it on eBay and am raring to go but then life interfered.. Almost a year now has gone by since I purchased it.
Fast fwd to about 2 weeks ago.. Out of Nowhere the seller hit me up stating if everything was ok since the phone hasn't been used. I emailed him back thanking him for his concern and stated I was curious as to how he knew it hadn't been used? 2 Weeks and still no reply..
That got me thinking.. maybe this phone has been "COMPROMISED"
#1 How best to verify and confirm I have a clean phone, I have done nothing but sign it on to my WiFI here at home and used it for a total of less than 30mins to test that it worked...
#2 Anyone familiar with Nethunter and have a best practice guide on how to install on a device? Their webpage lists the following, " Our freely downloadable images come with easy to follow installation and setup instructions to get you up and running in no time at all." However I have downloaded several times the img's and these so-called "easy" instructions are now where to be found.. When I google I come across blogs with 50+ steps.. so I just wanna make sure I'm following something decent before I give it WHAT FOR!
please advise!
