I lost a very important video which was in the secure folder of my uprooted S8+ - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi,
I lost a very important video which was in the secure folder of my unrooted S8+*
All data recovery software need the device to be rooted
I'm afraid to root because rooting may wipe the data, then the small hope which I'm holding will disappear*
Is there any solution to root without wipping the data ??????
Thanks

WARNING: Posting Nandroid Backups is Dangerous

I highly suggest that if you don't know what you are doing, you should NOT post backups of your phone for other to use for recovery purposes.
You MAY THINK you deleted all your data from the backup, but trust me, you didn't.
Also, for those downloading and using these, be warned that the posted could easily include a malicious application that could be pre-installed and have root access. This could, for example, upload all those nice pictures of your girlfriend somewhere without your knowledge.
For those that DO want to make a backup that is clear of any private data, here is my method. I'm about 99.9% sure this should be clean.
Install ClockworkMod ROM Manager
Install ClockworkMod Recovery from in ROM Manager
Disable Fast Boot
Use a clean/formatted SD card
Power down phone.
Remove Battery
Remove SIM
Install Battery (leave the SIM out)
Power on phone into recover mode (volume down & power)
Load ClockworkRecovery
wipe data/factory reset (this will wipe the data partition, cache, and sd-ext)
backup and restore - > backup
The backup file created should be clean of any private data since you do the wipe and immediately backup while in Clockwork Recovery before the phone is even booted up.
For anyone downloading and using a backup like this, be aware it could still have malicious code so be warned. You use anything you download at your own risk.
Thank you,just learn something new
I dont understand why anyone would do this in the first place lol

If you just post a system.img (no userdata) then you are not sharing any personal data. All system.imgs are the same because when the phone is booted, system is in R/O. It's impossible for android to modify the system partition at all.
It could be someone adds a malicious app to system then backs up system.img the malicious app is gonna be in the backup then

Temporary Root or Root without Wipe? - Need to run root App

Hi Guys,
I wanted to root my phone temporarily so I can run this DiskDigger software (which I had used in the past with another phone with good results) that requires root in order to recover deleted photos.
Now if there was some sort of temporary root solution then that would be great as I don't actually want to root the phone properly mainly because I like to use some banking software that doesn't allow it...
If temp root is not possible then is a root without a data wipe possible? I am not entirely sure if my data will be lost by wiping the data partition as some of the files I want to recover also belonged in the secure folder app, which I think has its data stored in /mnt/secure but I am not 100% and I am also worried about the partition being re-encrypted again after a wipe, which could mean new encryption keys and I can't restore old files?
Any advice here is appreciated.
Thanks
I know the thread is old, but I want to backup some apps with data and no one solution (ad backup/restore is not working) like Titanium (but requires root) is working.
I'm looking to have a root shell with an exploit (like payloads on the consoles, or thethered jailbreak on iphone) so I can backup the data manually.
Any updates on this matter the last 2 years?

Recovery a Android file after deleting permanently. please help me thanks in advance

can be recover the file without rooting the android phone ?
Likely not. Always backup critical data redundantly. I time stagger my backups as well, which will sometimes avert this kind of issue.

Android recovery tool may help you retrieve the files. But generally speaking, it will require you to root your phone.
