What is Picture Manager?
Some manufactures like HTC and Sony (probably some more) save pictures taken with an incremented number in the filename, instead with a timestamp like other manufactures do.
When you factory reset your device, buy a new device or clean flash a custom rom, the camera picture counter gets reset and starts with e.g. IMAG_00001 again.
This can be an issue once you backup your files to a harddrive on your PC, because you will have duplicate filenames, although the pictures are actually different.
Picture Manager solves this problem by renaming your taken pictures with a timestamp format that you can select or even define yourself.
You can either start a batch process before you backup your pictures to your HDD, or automatically let Picture Manager rename your files in the background.
Another nice feature Picture Manager offers is that you can let it organize your taken pictures into folders that are named by the year, month and even day.
That will help you to quickly find your pictures again and brings some organization into you pictures.
Requirements
You have to be on at least Android 5.0 Lollipop
How does it work
Picture Manager relies on the EXIF Metadata that is stored into each picture. The EXIF Metadata contains a lot of information, the one Picture Manager needs is the date the picture was taken.
With that information Picture Manager can reliably rename and organize your pictures.
Tasker Plugin
Picture Manager comes with a Tasker Action Plugin. That means that you can start a batch process on different events, like time, when usb gets connected etc.
Premium features
If you want to use the custom format, background service or the Tasker plugin you need to upgrade to the premium version.
To upgrade you can use an in app purchase. Or you paypal me and I mail you a premium code. That way google doesn't get 30% of the income.

FAQ
Q: What about videos?
A: Picture Manager can also handle mp4 recorded videos.
Q: What about other manufactures than HTC and Sony?
A: I just know about those two that use an incremented number in their filename. If you know more, let me know. If your files are already timestamped you can still use the organizer to move your files into timestamped folders.
Q: After using the organizer I have sometimes missing files in my gallery?
A: Use the media scanner built in Picture Manager to make those files visible.
Q: Will the background service drain a lot of battery?
A: Picture Manager makes use of Androids JobSheduler, like Google Photos and Amazon Photos instant upload and is very battery friendly. When checking GSAM stats, it is nearly at the very bottom of the list.

Warning
This is NOT a data backup app like Titanium Backup! It will not backup your data.
Its purpose is just to remember the app and be a better way to share apps.
Just imagine if this was also a data backup app and you've backed up like 12gb of data. Imagine what it would be like to send a 12gb file to share apps. Imagine their surprise when they install the app and say, "Why am I level 86??"
So yes, this is not a data backup app.

Maybe you want some of them.
When you send a picture by WhatsApp, the program copy the file into Images folder and then, it send the image.
If you open Gallery app, you will see two copies of the same picture, one on DCIM, for example, and other on WhatsApp Images folder.
Would you like to have a copy of each picture you send?
And, the most interesting point: in my case I receive a lot of funny images and videos that I don't want to see them on Gallery app.
I can delete all of them with a click on a simple and little app (300kb).

I'm studying it, but I think these thumbnails are not saved (I don't know if we are talking about the same pics).
If you share a picture selecting it from chat layout, there is a folder "recent" where are shown the last images you shared, but they are not saved (at least in a visible folder).
I'll check it!
Thank you

[APP]Photo Map for Google Photos (via Google Drive)

High Performance Photo Map for your Google Photos
I use Google Drive sync because Google Photos doesn't provide the location data in their API.

This looks great!
Although, it's not currently working for me. Are there any specific setup steps I need to take?
Hello, normally you should simply follow the instructions. Google photos sync has to be enabled in the Google drive app.
Please contact me via mail using [email protected].
I will support you.
Thanks
Sent you an email.
Very nice app. Looks like it's working great
Thanks
Like others have noted on Google Play, nothing shows up for me either.
That looks so great, i am going to try add for some ıstanbul views if its possible
For all who are facing problems: the sync process can take some time. If photos are missing, please switch the sync off and on again.
Here is the local storage version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levionsoftware.instagram_map
I can provide support by mail if you want. Thanks. Denny
I just wanted to let you know that I don't use ANY analytics or home servers. Your files are safe and ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE! Only this app has access to your files. ONLY PHOTOS (ONLY your "Google Photos" Folder) are queried to get the following information: id, name, size, mimeType, fileExtension, imageMediaMetadata/location, createdTime, webContentLink, thumbnailLink
Hm - Photo Map shows me only my pictures from before 2015, and if I check Google Drive from a browser, it also only shows these photos. Iirc, 2015 was when Google introduced the cloud sync with reduced "optimized" quality (rather than original quality). Photos synced with "optimized" quality are not counted against the Drive quota, but also seem to not show up in Google Drive at all, and I guess this is why Photo Map also does not see them.
I would suppose (just guessing, of course) that this is also the reason for others not seeing their photos: "optimzed" quality sync?
Cheers
tadzio
My app is in the Top 10 TRENDING of photography!!
The newest version also supports a mode where the whole drive is used and not only the Google photos folder
You can enable it in the settings.
The newest version includes a brand new date view!

A new version with some bug fixes has been released. Try it out!
I improved the user interface, you will be happy to see a bigger & cleaner map!
Major bugfixes has been released in the last days!
I released a version dedicated to Google Drive: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levionsoftware.photo_map_for_google_drive
The other app loads only the Google Photos folder (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levionsoftware.photo_map_for_google_photos)
A new version is coming out very soon. The data source will be the official Google photos API and the location history will be used as location data.
I think I will create another post because I can't edit the title of the current one.
Stay tuned!
Is there any (simple) way to change the location info of a photo?
The original purple version of photo map will become an all in one app for all providers, inclusive cloud! Be prepared and stay tuned!

Question Apps associated with camera functions

So I used as app control to debloat my s23 plus. Everything works good no issues except for one I just found this morning
So I need help figuring this out. I think I might have removed something that works with camera pics and text aka: an app that is associated with camera.
I remember at one time in my rooting days if you deleted a file (I forget which one it was off hand) but if you deleted that app the camera stoped working.
This seems to be a similar thing.
When I highlight text on a picture I took, I go to the 3 dots and click save to clipboard, so I can paste it in a text file. Problem I'm having is paste doesn't work at all, it's like there is nothing saved to clipboard even though it says "saved to clipboard"
Again, my guess is it's an app associated with the camera app, and I deleted it and this is the adverse reaction to removing said app.
So anyone have any ideas what app would be attached to the camera app, aside from gallery of course. I'm at a loss as to what it can be.
You probably did more damage than just this.
There hundreds of small Samsung system apps that modify the UI for appearance... and functionality. Most use little resources and should be left alone. Target the power hogs and complete trashware like Digital Wellbeing.
A list of the disabled items would be helpful.

Well maybe I'm confused.
I've restored everything back except samsung browser. Don't ask, I'm just not a fan of it.
That given this is what I'm doing or trying to do:
I'm openin samsung gallery. I go to the picture I took. I hit the T with the box around it which is text. I hit the 3 dots at the bottom and click on copy to clipboard. When I go to my notes app and hit paste, nothing comes up. Is it possible that the text copy from pics feature is limited to only samsung apps, and not other apps? I'm lost as hell right now.
Ok I'm an old idiot LOL.......I simply highlighted the text and copied and pasted it, it works fine.
So i'm curious, what does the T with a square around it at the bottom right do exactly? I thought that was like covert to text
The Samsung browser with some add on ad blockers is great for vids.
Try clearing the system cache.
Use the Samsung Edge app for copy/paste.

I'm guessing bixby vision. Give the list of apps you've uninstalled so we can help you better.
Do you mean Smart Select with the spen?
That's this app. If disable it disappears from the spen menu. Verified on my N10+/Pie.
