how to flash s8 plus Verizon bootloader v5 to unlocked g955u1? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi. My s8 plus is at bootloader version 5 now.is possible to flash unlocked version (xaa)? Or change room from Odin? thanks

Also interested. I'm on official Oreo on v5 bootloader on a fresh phone from insurance and trying to get root.

Go to the Verizon section and look there, user @jrkruse has 2 roms posted:
These both work with the new BLv5
Oreo Rom with Xposed/Safestrap; no root
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s8+/development/rom-t3771206
Nougat Rom with Root/Xposed/Safestrap
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...nt/root-using-odin-modified-firmware-t3693790
If your wanting root functions these are your only options. While the Oreo doesn't have root, it does have SafeStrap for system file modification and Xposed to run non root plugins.
As far as flashing to U1 firmware there is a thread about flashing to it. You should be able to as long as bootloader matches but don't quote me. I'm still on BL3 and still can flash to U1, root rom, oreo rom, stock rom no problem.

Always need root just to install custom roms . If we can install roms without root , then we don't need root anymore ( I am still lost ). Now I can wait for custom 6.1 roms.
Its not ideal but at least you dont have to go through the whole reroot process each time you want to change roms. And you can still flash zips etc in safestrap.

Can we run and use apps which require ROOT access?
I'm a bit confused though. Don't custom ROMs come pre-rooted???? So wouldn't flashing a custom ROM which is pre-rooted....... remain rooted?

You cannot have a rooted MM rom with locked bootloader because to have root requires a custom kernel which locked bootloaders cannot flash. It doesnt matter if the rom is prerooted or not! Stock Boot.img means no root. You cannot run apps that require root with these roms All this method does if give you some options the biggest option being the ability to flash zips. and change roms with out having to odin back to stock pb1 then reroot then. Try the stock MM rom I posted. Once installed you can flash a debloatzip or a knox removal zip or delete apps from safestrap with the built in file manager If you dont like you can always downgrade back to PB1

@jrkruse How does this work?
Based on my knowledge from reading this, it seems that the kernel finds the checksum of the system partition and then only boots if it is unmodified.
Shouldn't modifying the system partition in the slightest bit throw this checksum off?
Also - modified kernels CAN be flashed on locked bootloaders - just not via Odin. They only won't boot though >.>

After patch is installed wipe data and wipe cache and install MM Bootloader zip
Reboot it will take 15 to 20 min to boot

Last Magisk version on Samsung Galaxy S5 VRZ - BL Version : G900VVRS2DQB2 ?

Hello everyone.
I come to you because I've searched a lot about S5 VRZ on the XDA forum. My purpose is to root my phone with the latest Magisk version (at least 14.0) and maybe to install a custom Rom on it too (I saw Phoenix v15 which could work f I'm not wrong). But I'm new in rooting and in customizing my phone, so I come here to request your help.
Those are my phone informations :
1) Before doing anything on it I had this : Galaxy S5 VRZ - Android 4.4.4 - BootLoader version ANK2
2) I followed this guide with CID 15 : [GUIDE] Root, Bootloader Unlocks, and More!
At this point I didn't saw this thread which told me I probably did the wrong thing in step 2: [GUIDE] painiac's Essential Guide to Galaxy S5 Flashing, Rooting, Fixing, Customizing
But now I did and after doing step 2 guide I'm in this configuration : Galaxy S5 VRZ - Android 6.0.1- BootLoader version QB2
My phone still work but I don't really know what to do, if I'm right or wrong ? I'm unrooted now, trying to reinstall Magisk on another way.
So my questions are:
What to do with this configuration to get rooted with Magisk version 14.0 at least ?
And after, which custom ROM may I install on my phone and how ? (links are welcomed ofc)
I would really be glad if someone could help me to solve this situation. And I thank everyone who'll fully read this thread for the attention you paid to it (and also because I'm french and probably don't speak a really good englsih ^^')
Thank you for you help and have a good day ! :good:

If you want Magisk, you probably should install it.
It's usually is installed via TWRP recovery as a flashable zip file.
http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk
If you don't have TWRP recovery, you probably should install it.
It's usually is installed via Odin as a flashable tar file.
https://dl.twrp.me/klte/
You can only flash TWRP into SM-G900V if the bootloader is unlocked.
Unlocked bootloader looks like this (MODE: Developer):
If you still have not unlocked the bootloader, then you probably should try to do it.
It can be unlocked on the devices with CID15 (determined with this tool, first two digits in CID line).

How to Downgrade S7 930U Snapdragon from Nougat 7 to Marshmallow 6?

I prefer the speed and performance of marshmallow on the S7. Where are the correct files I should flash in Odin and which version of Odin should I be using to flash Android 6?
So apparently the camera isn't working after downgrade to 6?
Not something I'm willing to deal with unless the issue has been solved.
You can't downgrade snapdragon S7 models (G930U/T/V/A/P) due to the locked bootloader
Any downgrading would only work on the G930F with OEM unlock
Help root or downgrade or both?

I have a sm-g930u factory unlocked and Im also trying to get all i need to downgrade from oreo which is havoc on my battery and i dont know if its better to downgrade to laterst nougat or root it and take care of bloatware to help battery drain yet the problem will persist which is that the upgrade is designed for s8 and s9 with octacore processor and the s7 is working harder with a quad core so temp will always be hotter than before and slower than with nougat . Any help with proper step by step in downgrading my factory unlocked phone would be appreciated and any root links as i havent done it in years.

thats not true
You can downgrade any version bit loader by flashing the combo firmware and the rooting combo firmware then flash stock nougat system image its basically what the root method is for Rev11/B. If you are just on nougat then you would have to get the combo firmware that matches the bootloader version you have because if you flash my rev11/B root method you are forever stuck on that bootloader and can never use nougat again or have oreo root as there is no eng root boot.img available for oreo root on rev11/B bootloader

you can downgrade too marshmallow from any version you have because combo firmware for s7 is marshmallow based and its available for all bootloader versions. You just use the combo bootloaders and boot.img and stock system image then root it
If your still on bit 4 you can just flash stock bit 4 marsmallow and root with marshmallow eng root img

Install Nougat rom with TWRP after to install OREO rom with binary 3?

Hi!, i installled Oreo on my S7 g930f but i now have one problem. The ROM binary from oreo is 3, and Nougat use 2, for this reason i cannot to downgrade to nougat. Recently i installed TWRP and a custom Oreo rom.
Its possible to install a custom Nougat rom through TWRP?
Many Thanks!
You should be able to flash a Nougat ROM via TWRP, but you'll have to make sure to flash the bootloader and modem back to Nougat if the ROM doesn't include it as part of its install.
I've gone between Oreo and Nougat a few times, granted my roll backs were using a TWRP backup and not a nougat flash.

Have you some tutorial teaching how to make this downgrade.
After the update my mobile is Just Call of Emergency, and the patch to solve this just works at Nougat.

Just bought a new G930T, can I root then upgrade OS to Oreo?

This will be my first phone I'm rooting, so I don't have much experience with this. I plan on installing Magisk, so I was curious if I can still upgrade the OS after rooting or should I upgrade then root. Thank you for your help!
You can update stock firmware at any time using Odin https://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin
Note: It's an old article and links an old version of Odin, make sure to download the latest version
As for root and Magisk, the USA S7's have a locked bootloader so you can't install magisk. Root is possible but limited https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s7/development/easyroot-unroot-t3859760
If you go too far ahead in firmware version, the methods used for root are patched. So if you're going to try it, make sure you flash an older version in Odin.
