Hey guys ,
I am trying to get the 4g+ icon to show up on my pixel using bouygues here in france. I previously had a nexus 5x and on certain roms(ex: aosp extended and octos) the 4g+ icon would popup and I would notice an increase in data speed.
Ive dug into the matter and apprently in systemui.apk there is an xml where the setting for the lteplus icon is set to be hidden. I've tried to edit this and another line according to a post I was referred to on github , but after recompiling the app I get a bunch of errors.
Could somebody more knowledgeable with apktool or compiling apps try and compile the app for me, please?
I've attached some images so you can see what I am talking about . The line is "config_hidelteplus=true"

To be honest you should forget about it at this point. SystemUI is the main APK file that makes android function and modifying it requires extreme skills. You would also have to defer all updates if you did that, so it isn't worth trying to go after. Sorry :/

No way. I've got it recompiled and need to sign the app now. Winners never quit, lol
What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you want to alter your data connection, or just change the icon? If all you're bothered with is the icon, that's easy.

Trying to enable CA and was hoping I had it.
TL;DR
So, I m using a Pixel from the US on a French carrier called Bouygues. Bouygues uses:
LTE
Name Interface
B1 (2100) LTE
B3 (1800 +) LTE
B7 (2600) LTE
B20 (800 DD) LTE
B28 (700 APT) LTE
I have all these bands available yet cannot get CA lte advanced, yet a fellow countryman has the pixel xl , same carrier , and gets CA. What can I do?

Hey guys!
I have take JF 1.51 EU ROM and tweaked some parts of it to make it more friendly to non T-mobile / Developer users.
Changes:
* Removed Web'n'Walk app
* Removed SpareParts app (ugly in the menu, with minimal daily use)
* Removed Google ringtones/alarms/notifications
* Removed all European APNs
* Added HTC Magic ringtones/alarms/notifications (better selection imho)
* Added Orange, O2, Vodafone and T-Mobile APNs
* Added latest Google Maps application
* Added HTC mail app (Work Email)
* Swapped default wallpaper for rogers one (bit smarter)
* Made launcher app drawer solid black background
Where can you find it:
I've started a project on google code http://code.google.com/p/htc-dream-uk
could be good for those uk users already on JF, im sticking to cyanogens test builds, but if i was looking for a stable rom, like JF a uk based would be amazing.
Here are the O2 PAYG settings for internet and MMS
Copied from the apns-conf.xml file, so you can just copy/paste this into your apns-conf.xml file.
Code:
<apn carrier="O2 PAYG" mcc="234" mnc="10" apn="payandgo.o2.co.uk" user="payandgo" server="" password="password" mmsproxy="193.113.200.195" mmsport="8080" mmsc="http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002" type="" proxy="" port="" />
Hope this helps a bit
I'm on O2 Simplicity and I use:
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
USERNAME: vertigo
PASSWORD: password
Thanks guys, I will include them into the build.
I assume the MMS settings are the same for Pay&Go and SIMplicity?
OK - Those two O2 APNs have been added.
If someone could confirm working APNs for Vodafone then that would be great.
Also, is there an easy way to alter the status bar color etc? I dont want to get too messy, but just a thought.

Have a look in the Themeing & Applications subforum. I think the related .png file is located in /system/framework-res.apk
Just open the .apk file with 7zip and edit the statusbar_background.png in the res\drawable folder in photoshop or gimp and change the colour

Hello,
I would be interested in such a rom. I currently use the rogers rom because I like the htc mail app. Would you consider trying it in your rom rather than the google mail app?

I will try. Since I am working on JF 1.51 baseline I dont know if this is possible. I am quite new to the FW game, so we will have to experiement.
I plan to make the RC1 build available this coming Friday evening GMT. If the HTC mail app is missing, then lets try to get it into RC2
Did the framework-res.apk file editing work?
I just looked at the file when I posted and figured it might work ^^
APNs
May be of some use for all the APNs
http://modmygphone.com/wiki/index.php/Carrier_APN_Settings#UK_Networks
I will check out the APN list posted. Hopefully add the missing UK networks.
I also managed to get the Mail.apk from a Rogers ROM supporting Exchange, with the help of some people on the forum, and a quick test looks promising. I will make it available in the ROM also.
I did manage to alter the framework-res.apk and have a black status bar, but the icons looked poor against it. I added the rogers wallpaper (red wave) and it looks smart, and I also made the Launcher menu background solid black. Overall I think it is a little more "smart" looking.
Hopefully will make the ROM available tonight via rapidshare etc, or maybe start a Google project.
This looks interesting for simplicity and a clean look, I like that you're trying to change the normal, dull grey status bar / pull down because I really prefer the semi-transparent black version used in Hero.
Thanks for taking the time to work on this rom and good for you for sticking up for yourself in other posts. you know which i mean.

For the initial release I am going to keep the status bar "dull grey" I am going to work on a transparent black, but it will mean I need to change the icons to suit, which will take time.
It might be easier to rebuild the Launcher.apk from source and make it load the icons from filesystem rather than RES folder. That way it could be skinned a bit easier... just a thought.

When I bought my ADP1 I always planned to make a generic ROM for us UK users. Alot of work goes into the US versions, but since the dialers format the number for the US scheme it makes it less attractive to the UK users.
I know that I will benefit from my ROM, I just hope others will to.
I have updated the main page and added links to the download.
I might release updates as a patch to the main download, to reduce the download times. Details will be on the Wiki on the project site.
I've been opening up framework-res.apk as a zip file and changing around icons for my status bar with other themes. I just replaced the signal bars icons and the 3G icons, repackaged the framework into a zip file, and applied it via rom manager. No Icon change. I've been able to replace several before, any ideas why it wouldn't work now? I reopened the file and verified the icons had been changed.
The icons you are looking for are in com.htc.resources.apk
If you have something specifically you want changed I can tell you where it is located and what the filename is. I am building some theme tutorial videos because I had a hard time finding all of this information. I want to make it easier for others. I remember all the way back in June when I got frustrated finding what files went where. I am making a list to help others out, let me know what you are looking for.

subscribed as well, a video with some info would be great. I am definitely no developer, but not afraid to mess around a bit. I was also interested in making similar changes as OP.
In fact I am using Jerick's smooth sense mod with white letter mod by squintz, and a couple of the icons were coming up out of order. I was not cool enough to be able to repair the info that points to an icon so I found the icons in framework-res.apk and changed the names of them so that I would get the correct icon in status bar. But obvously that is not the correct fix. However this is where the icons OP is talking about. So if I can make a name change to a png can't you also replace that png. I believe that the apk has to be signed correctly after manipulating?
Anyways any basic info about doing such would be greatly appreciated

You don't need to resign the apk unless you completely extract it. Then good luck trying to get a system apk to work. Just open the archive and replace needed imgs then update the archive and you're done. All depends on what os your using. Linux makes it easy to edit apks without extracting. In win you have to rename to .zip then do line I said then rename back to .apk

I can tell you later (i dont have the dump on hand) but the signal meter pngs are located in com.htc.resources.apk under /res/drawlablehdpi/ thay have a name like sys_status_cdma1 or something like that. I think if you get that far the images might jump out at you. If you want the exact ones I can tell you when I get back from work.

Found them. Thanks for the direction. I was looking through the folders and I couldn't find them, because they are transparent backgrounds, so the white on white blended right in. I changed out the signals for the ones I wanted and everything looks like its working now.
Thanks for your help!
Trying to do a custom morph for the Evo's signal strength icon, but I cant seem to find it inside the system framework-res or rosie apk's. Can anyone tell me where this icon is located and what its name is?
Sorry, trying to do this without actually owning an Evo...also does the Evo just use the normal 3g signal icon from the framework-res most of the time or is it something different?
On sense based roms they are in: system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
There are a bunch of them, some for 3g and some for 1x
I just made a morph for someone last night that replaces them, you can open it up to see the names and location if you want. I'll post a link in just a sec..
*edit- here ya go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7974884/webbys_mod.zip
that is a set I made so they're gonna look different than stock but the names and location are what you're looking for
Awesome, thanks much.

Can this be flash to Tmobile.? I know it a dum question but I want to know.
Im pretty sure this wont work for vzw tab...poked around in the files, most of the changed images are in framework/res/hdpi-v4. The path on vzw tab is framework/res/hdpi. Anyway,it was enough to scare me off. Could you tell me where those 1% increments are? Im thinking maybe battery-status.xml?I wanna pull the control file and the png's and push em into framework. Tia.
Screenshots? Also, the -v4 just means it's been decompiled.
Guys guys guys... -v4 is ok... Will work fine! lol
I am sure the framework is the same across the board. Nothing is really any different than any other 2.2 devices. No special renaming. The battery mod is a change in the battery and battery charging xml file. Instead of a img matched to a value every 20% (stock) this will display an img for every value. 205 or 125 images. In the Glass theme I have an img for every value for charging as well so it has 205 images. If you are at 22%, it will say 22% in the battery Icon. AND... This will not drain your battery any faster. This is a active Battery % Display for the Stock Icon.
Soon I will have a full Battery Mod thread with a ton of different Icons and the xmls for those who wanna use it. : )
I'm using Glass with the Magic Smoke Live Wallpaper, Looks so awesome. You must check it out. I have pics already but I'll post more and a video.
Try it!!!

Ahhh....gotcha. yeah,I noticed I got a -v4 on the end after I've used the s.c. online kitchen. Any way, recovery still exits with an error when I try to flash on vzw tab. Could it be that string in the assert command in the updater sscript? Thanks for the heads up on the XML...it got me there.

oh, lol. That's where I go to get a lot of what I do, so much easier than sitting there and editing all the xmls and hope that it recompiles right. I love using Ultra Compare and seeing what they do with that. Awesome site.
You got this to work through cw? From what I've read the assert line is no longer supported, moved on to"Edify".

I Have fix it, this will flash in Clockwork! : )
I have also now added 10 Batt Mods for everyone. More to come soon!
Enjoy!!
The battery mods, particularly Mod #2, are nice. If I apply the images via MM into the drawable-hdpi folder, predictably it only picks up the twenty percent level ones. If I add the two XML files to the MM in the drawable folder (I used the 125 version) none of the images show up. I'm familiar with basic image replacement, but not with replacing the XML files. Is this something that would require an update.zip rather than MM?
tried the glass theme on att tab
now im stuck on samsung logo
trying to boot back up no go
thanks for trying though

Did you use Clockwork? If your adding the images, you have to have the xmls too. xmls go in drawable.

Sorry man, I only have a sprint tab. I'll look into it more, Maybe I'll build it from each framework to make it work for all.
Nah, I was using Metamorph, which works fine for the PNGs, but somehow when it replaces the XML files in the drawables directory the battery status stops showing up altogether. I didn't have a lot of time to experiment though, so I wound up just restoring from nandroid backup. I know it must be replacing the right files, because if I run Metamorph without the XML files it perfectly places the new images, and the notification bar picks it up for the existing battery increments. If I add the XML files it winds up with a blank area where the battery status go. I'm assuming it's one of three things: MM having trouble replacing the XML files and busting something; or there's something specific to the VZW version that doesn't like one or more elments in the XML; somewhere along the lines of pulling the two XML files out of your .zip and putting them in the new .zip changed some kind of formatting (DOS v Unix linebreaks, dunno). At any rate, I can use the images easily for the 0,10,15,20,40... increments, but can't easily update the XML files with MM at the moment. I might look into doing an update.zip.
The reason I'd prefer MM for just picking up changes like battery status images, is that I don't have to worry about the framework matching, it'll just replace the files in my existing framework, so it's usually quick and dirty.
Can you see if we can get a Sprint Only Galaxy Tab Forum
Since you are a developer, Can you PLEASE look into getting the Sprint Galaxy Tab its own spot? All this Euro AT&T TMobile Galaxy Tab stuff is getting on my nerves. They need a GSM Only and a CDMA Only Tab Forum. It's too damn confusing. Appreciate it! Thx
Hi
I watched the video of the theme and at the begining you touch the upper left corner of the screen to wake up the tab. I am new to android phones and it is maybe stupid question but how to do it without pressing power-on button?

Pawel
The power button is in the upper left in the video. As his thumb is at the top of the screen one of his fingers is pressing the power button. No magic swipe, sorry.
Hi guys. Sorry for my bad English and sorry if it is the wrong section, I'm new in this forum and I need to learn some details for writing here. I would change the wi-fi icon in my Galaxy s4. Now the icon is the stock Samsung icon on kitkat, and i would change it with Sony wi-fi icon (i uploaded images here) but i don't want change data icon (i put 4G icon for example, i don't want to change them). How can i do it? I downloaded SystemUI.apk for Sony devices but i don't understand how png and xml files i have to delete or change.
Could you help me, please?

it is possible BUT it is too risky. if your phone rooted?
you must root it.. then find your prefer wifi logo then flash it..
it will took time to know how to theme your phone.
yeah its PNG files. you must locate your framework etc.... find the PNG files. replace it by flash it . but make sure you dont fail because that might cause a problem and may your wifi logo will not appear tho. or maybe softbrick i guess?

Yes my S4 is rooted. I also change wifi samsung icon with wifi sony icon. The problems are the arrows of wifi, which indicate the status of signal (i've posted them down). Because in the touchwiz the arrows are the same of wifi and signal i don't understand which xml file I have to change to show wifi icon with arrows.
I made an image which shows how i want to change the wifi icon in status bar. The first and the second images are showing the layout of wifi and signal icon now, the third (sorry for the low quality, I've changed image with paint) is how i want to change the layout (changing wifi icon but no data icon).
