Wifi in-out icon for my Galaxy s4 - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hi guys. Sorry for my bad English and sorry if it is the wrong section, I'm new in this forum and I need to learn some details for writing here. I would change the wi-fi icon in my Galaxy s4. Now the icon is the stock Samsung icon on kitkat, and i would change it with Sony wi-fi icon (i uploaded images here) but i don't want change data icon (i put 4G icon for example, i don't want to change them). How can i do it? I downloaded SystemUI.apk for Sony devices but i don't understand how png and xml files i have to delete or change.
Could you help me, please?

Your English is better than most North Americans. But sorry I don't know hour to switch the icons, i wish I could help you.

Hi, thank you for your answer. I know that it is possible change png files using apktool, because i change the white arrows of the data connection. So it's possible to change or add png images but i don't know how xml files or smali files I have to adapt for doing the changing.

it is possible BUT it is too risky. if your phone rooted?
you must root it.. then find your prefer wifi logo then flash it..
it will took time to know how to theme your phone.
yeah its PNG files. you must locate your framework etc.... find the PNG files. replace it by flash it . but make sure you dont fail because that might cause a problem and may your wifi logo will not appear tho. or maybe softbrick i guess?

Yes my S4 is rooted. I also change wifi samsung icon with wifi sony icon. The problems are the arrows of wifi, which indicate the status of signal (i've posted them down). Because in the touchwiz the arrows are the same of wifi and signal i don't understand which xml file I have to change to show wifi icon with arrows.

I made an image which shows how i want to change the wifi icon in status bar. The first and the second images are showing the layout of wifi and signal icon now, the third (sorry for the low quality, I've changed image with paint) is how i want to change the layout (changing wifi icon but no data icon).

Replacing Icons in framework-res.apk

I've been opening up framework-res.apk as a zip file and changing around icons for my status bar with other themes. I just replaced the signal bars icons and the 3G icons, repackaged the framework into a zip file, and applied it via rom manager. No Icon change. I've been able to replace several before, any ideas why it wouldn't work now? I reopened the file and verified the icons had been changed.
The icons you are looking for are in com.htc.resources.apk
If you have something specifically you want changed I can tell you where it is located and what the filename is. I am building some theme tutorial videos because I had a hard time finding all of this information. I want to make it easier for others. I remember all the way back in June when I got frustrated finding what files went where. I am making a list to help others out, let me know what you are looking for.

subscribed as well, a video with some info would be great. I am definitely no developer, but not afraid to mess around a bit. I was also interested in making similar changes as OP.
In fact I am using Jerick's smooth sense mod with white letter mod by squintz, and a couple of the icons were coming up out of order. I was not cool enough to be able to repair the info that points to an icon so I found the icons in framework-res.apk and changed the names of them so that I would get the correct icon in status bar. But obvously that is not the correct fix. However this is where the icons OP is talking about. So if I can make a name change to a png can't you also replace that png. I believe that the apk has to be signed correctly after manipulating?
Anyways any basic info about doing such would be greatly appreciated

You don't need to resign the apk unless you completely extract it. Then good luck trying to get a system apk to work. Just open the archive and replace needed imgs then update the archive and you're done. All depends on what os your using. Linux makes it easy to edit apks without extracting. In win you have to rename to .zip then do line I said then rename back to .apk

I can tell you later (i dont have the dump on hand) but the signal meter pngs are located in com.htc.resources.apk under /res/drawlablehdpi/ thay have a name like sys_status_cdma1 or something like that. I think if you get that far the images might jump out at you. If you want the exact ones I can tell you when I get back from work.

Found them. Thanks for the direction. I was looking through the folders and I couldn't find them, because they are transparent backgrounds, so the white on white blended right in. I changed out the signals for the ones I wanted and everything looks like its working now.
Thanks for your help!

[Q] changing default call icon/g3 specific

Hello,
I ve been trying to change my default call icon (for unknown contacts) when receiving a call with ninjamorph... I opened phone.apk and found icon, changed it and nothing happens... It does change when I open preview in Ninjamorph... I think I probably changed the wrong icon because there are hundreds of them, most of them I never saw on my phone...
Can somebody tell me which one to change? There are some general tutorials but I cant find the directories and filenames they are refering to...
Of course, phone is rooted, running Destiny 2.1 ROM...
I would also like to change that awful phone animation when making a call if possible...
Thank you very much
change the icons in
DialerTabActivity.apk
I tried, changed some icons in drawable-Ldpi in dialertabActivity.apk but still nothing happens, not even in dialer screen
I applied and finished Ninjamorph project, and when it is done I can see by starting the project again that icons are changed indeed but still nothing changes...
Could you please be more specific about what icons to change?
well...
to be on safe side. check all *contact*.png pictures
the icon you search may have the naming like
default_icon...
unknown_contact_icon...
or something like that
the G3 is ldpi but sometimes (dont know when or why) the icons from mdpi folders are taken
therfore to be on safe side, just exchange all pngs which may sound like that
in framework-res.apk there are also some default icons...
maybe one of them is taken? Dont know.

notification bar icons?

Is there a way to change the color of the icons and clock in notification bar. I'm looking to make them yellow

You could try Team EOS3 JellyBean ROM. I believe it has some options for changing the color of the status and notification bar icons and clock.
I tried that rom for a bit but I use my tablet for too much daily stuff to stick with it until it gets a little less buggy, great build though. I wonder if it is possible to pull out that part of it and port to ICS.
You'll probably have to decompile the framework-res.apk
Edit some XML and or png

I was thinking that and I was going to use a zip someone has here for the back, home, menu, and recent apps and just change image in there but don't know about images on other side like clock, sd card, batteries, etc... I never tried anything from scratch like that and don't think I am knowledgeable enough. I have read guide on how to theme and have the programs but I am not a developer so some of it gets confusing. Any ideas on a zip out there that have those in it that I can redo would be great.

Everything there except the clock can be done with simple png edits. To get all the batteries right without going throught each of them individually throw it through photoshop in batch sort of thing. The clock is the only thing which is done in xml

[Q] How to change icon manually?

Hi everybody,

I also know my BIG problem make laugh many people because I should live with it but I have to know how to do it and make the icons like I like.
So, I have to change just 1 icon only in Settings/System folder, I used already uComber and JWMD Icon Changer v3.1b but no 1 ot them see the icon of the application, basically the ugly icon of SRS WOW HD Equalizer I can't change it. Enyone who have SRS know the icon is ugly but the program is amazing. But I really wanto to change that icon.
Is the last thing to make my rom looking well.
Someone said it's possible vie Registry but i am not sure about that because I am not into that section, but I can do it if someone explain to me how.
How can I change that icon?

do you see the icon of WOW HD Settings? That's the icon which I can't change and I do not understand why!
If you can not see it in JWD then you will need hunt it in the registry & link a PNG file to it.
Have a look at this thread to help pin it down in registry:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6188525&postcount=1
If you have problems finding it you could export & upload parts of the registry tree for us to help.
Other option if you have installed srsWOW via cab is to edit cab/exe icons prior to install.
*JWD tip: some icons show as default JWD paint pallet & no text so you got to guess what they are ! have another good look ...

I am here and I can't understand HOW make a link to a PNG file. The PNG file is already in Windows forlder and the name is equalizer007.png.
I opened SRSPanel.cpl,0 and was only 1 link of some "Group" empty, so I delete it and I make this link "Icon"="\\Windows\\equalizer007.png" but is not working or i did in wrong way. I don't know, on the thread is not exactly clear how to do it.
See the pic.
