Hello to all. I noticed on Android Pie there is a monitor for the owner to track how much time spent using particular apps. Is it possible to port Android Pie digital wellbeing APK to Android nougat or Oreo? Or could someone recommend a app that does something similar. I would love to point out to my My Wife and Kids they are spending way too much time on their devices. That way they will understand why their battery is dying so quickly from the on screen time. Thanks to all and look forward to the replies.
Thread cleaned.
If you want to help, then help, but don't make assumptions. And if you don't like the idea of something, then move on and don't post.
Thanks!

Port it yourself . Start by pulling the app and its contents from a working model .

We all know Android has come a long way, from suckie to the coolest mobile system. I wonder what is the next step of Android? Upgrade better hardware? add more features? or try to be innovative and create totally new Android experience? What do you guys think?

next time you want to discuss something, put it in the general section not Q&A . android was not " suckie" at the start, it was amazing for what we had back then. Heck of a lot better than the original iphone.
Note taken. But the suckie thing is just my opinion, no offence intended.
i have been reading the chinese one plus forum and apparently the camera app in color OS is much better than the CM camera app. i was wondering if anyone is kind enough to help port it out so we can all benefit from it and have better photo taking experience.

You will need to get this files from existing ColorOs installation (root required) or extract from existing ColorOs images and then copy to CM (root required too). It may work or may not, but you can try.
think i'll wait for someone good to do this, im too noob. A lot of people on the OPO Chinese forum is also requesting this.
Here's the Oppo camera and gallery app extracted from Oppo Find 7:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5219659/OppoCam-Test.zip
However, it won't work on Oneplus One's CM11S as it rely on the Color OS library.

I'm sure it will work when ported correctly, with all needed libs.
Im gonna BUMP this thread!!
Where are all the experts and developers when we need you? You give up on this project? Cmon I expect more from you (( Would probaly pay you extra money if you need!
if i'm right, we have to port libraries also from colorOS, still if we want to have the same photo quality.
CM11S-Camera not work under ColorOS. ColorOS-Camera not work under CM11/CM11S or MIUI.
I love ColorOS.
I love ColorOS-Camera.

You're not serious, are you? It's that kind of demanding, self-entitled attitude that makes developers not want to work on projects like this. Anyway, it can't be done.

I might sound a bit harsch when I wrote the first message but that is just because I have been desperate to find a way to port this but none of the forums can do this. I admire you guys for sure for the job you are spending but I didn't expect this case to be impossible because you guys have done much more complicated jobs than this.
So therefore, this was my reaction due to pure frustration and nothing personal towards any of you developers.
Anyways, I hope there could be a small little chance to be able to get this issue solved in the future - if anyone wants to take that challenge, I mean.

Sorry, but it just won't happen. The camera app is tied so heavily into the framework of ColorOS that so much of ColorOS would need to be ported across along with the camera, that you'd actually just be left with ColorOS as your ROM. Plus the amount of effort vs the payoff is just ridiculously disproportionate. Essentially, if you really want the camera that bad, you might as well just run ColorOS.
PS. I'm not a dev, just an RC.

Q&A for Porting Android to Gear 2
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Porting Android to Gear 2. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I dont know if it's of any use but there's sourcecode of nx300 camera which also runs tizen, maybe something from there might help you, i'm sorry to not be able to help you in any way, i have no experience or whatsoever in rom cooking, though i'm really looking forward to get a port for the gear 2/neo
Any news yet?
Porting to android work
It is a really good job biktor is doing with porting android wear to the gear 2.
But like he says he has very little sparetime and is not a skilled developer..
I can imagine we are a lot of people which look forward to this project being done, so if there is any skilled developer or someone who has some experince with developing, could they maybe help? 2 are faster than one..
Thanks Man
You are awesome. If you doit i will donante you 5€. I promise

I'm tempting to make a thread on this forum
Awesome, awesome, awesome. I'm willing to lend a hand, when and where I can. I don't know how much help I can be with this portion of the port, but if we ever get it booting, I would love to assist in getting all the components functional. I just skimmed over the other thread, but is there anywhere with your current code I can check out? I plan on dumping my current firmware and attempting something like a TizenMod 4.0, since the DEV has seemingly moved on, but after that, I'll have time to assist, a better grasp of how Tizen is built (thank you for the partition breakdown btw, that makes things easier). I need to wipe my current rig anyway, as it has slowed down over the last year and I've been in dire need of a true linux partition on the PC. Let me get into gear, learn Tizen, explore a bit, maybe get my post count up so I can post in the official threads, and I'm game. That TWRP photo inspired me, let's get this device going!
Calling dibs on my own Android Wear Rom variant name (that was a mouthful, I'm full of those!)...
D2T: DEATH TO TIZEN!
All is working find.
I have install your tizenmod by odin in my gear 2 neo and all is working fine, Nice Job!!
SailfishOS mentioned! Great work btw.
Thanks
Bet lots of people will donate to you for this. This is Awsome.
Any news?
This is very exciting. No updates for a couple of weeks, is this still being developed? I'd be willing to make a donation.
nice!!
Would be best if you can get all the features(wakeup gesture, heartrate, IR). Sure you'll get lots of donationsfrom this.. although i can't help
..seems i cant reply to the official thread..never mind...I can't wait any more to try the brand new Android Wear. P.S. why not use API 21 directly? That's Android 5.0!
The problem is the video libraries. The ones I found are designed for Android 4.4, and are dependant on some internal function on libbinder which seems to have disappeared on android 5... If you can get me a lolipop rom for the kminilte (s5mini) or degas (some galaxy tab) I can try to use those libraries instead (they are closed drivers), the rest of the rom should be almost ready for booting

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5-mini/development/g800f-cyanogenmod-12-1-g800f-t3083493 i think that is it. Android 5.1 won't be a problem, right? Or i'll set off to find another one.
Just expecting material design on it.. Anyway i am sure we are all expecting a usable ROM before you do any improvements to it. Again thanks a lot
Perfect hammer...Gear Live's Rom Should work with a little mod. Waiting to get good news.

Gear 2 and Jodin
Hi there, and thanks a lot for porting wear to the Gear 2. I almost was about to sell it. I flashed it with the tar file .... and well ... there isnt much working so far...but it is great to see the first steps. I am looking forward to be able to use my Gear2 soon again at least as a watch.
I hope you will publish new flash files soon because i am not a developer. Will the new tar files be at the same location i downloaded the first one?
And... I am (now) using a mac for flashing.... So I have Jodin here to flash...But Jodin requires the PIT File. Can anyone publish the PIT file here?
Thanks....
Ender
STATUS: I'll be honest, I give up. Mods if you see this, remove the thread. This is hard guys. It has been hard. I have been pulling a lot of late nights, I have switched bases and tried so many fixes and Sailfish OS 2.1 on grouper just refuses to boot. We still have 1.0 and I know that it sucks on tablets but honestly, sailfish OS porters deserve so much more respect. This is hard. Building android honey comb or oreo would have been easier than this. For anyone who wants to give it a shot I won't even post sources, I never really had to change them in a way that made any progress. Not to mention the default fixup-mountpoints match the device's perfectly fine and modifying them did nothing.
I sincerely wish whoever takes this project up a good luck, and for everyone else, I recommend selling your tablet and either saving up for/buying a 2013 Nexus 7 or better yet, a Youyota tablet like me. I'm really sorry for just giving up like this and I feel just as bad as you, but I can't make this clear enough, this **** is hard.

Hello everyone!
Hope ya'll staying safe and healthy. I have a question and cannot seem to find an answer for it. I have 2 fire tablets laying around doing nothing because of so slow and so bloated. Is there a way to replace the fire os with stock android so I can find a use for it?
Thank you.

Take a note of your specific model numbers on both of your devices. You can find out by going to settings/about or installing an app like cpu-z. Then, search your specific model on xda or on the internet. Amazon fire tablets are not all the same. It is possible to install TWRP and Lineage OS or other roms but make sure it's for your own specific device.
There are a lot of guides waiting for you. Enjoy.

Install Droid Info from Amazon app store
Open Droid Info
Look for the Board line
That is the device codename
That's what you want to search for.

Thank you both for the quick reply.
I found this on the search since I have the model Austin

The question is: How can I do this in a Win10 PC, I noticed the steps being in Linux which I am not familiar with.
Thank you.
