Samsung Gear Sport VIBRATION - Samsung Gear Sport

Hi
Anyone who owns the Gear Sport, can tell me if the vibration is good enough for waking you up, like the alarm clock?
Im about buying it, but i dont want to be disappointed with the "intensity" of the vibarion. i read some that said its weak even when put on "high", and someone replay to him that an update software somehow fixed it...

It is quite reasonable. You can easily feel it.

Did you tried it?
im looking for it, this is the only thing that stopping me from buying it.

I own both an LG G Watch R, and a gear sport. The vibration on the gear sport is a lot stronger than my LG.
Would it wake you up? That depends on how heavy you sleep I guess. I use it with the "sleep as android" app and have my watch vibrate one minute before the alarm sounds. 9 times out of 10 it wakes me up from the vibration before the alarm sounds.

[Q] Vibrate - not strong?

I have the vibrate set to "strong" but I'm noticing it's very weak. Almost too weak to notice, does anyone else agree?
I have mine on strong as well and it's not that strong. Don't want to know what weak feels like.
Lol. It vibrates? I must have missed that.

It works fine for me. If I was playing basketball or something, I think the sound alert would be best. But for a meeting, I have it on weak and its ok. I guess I'm more sensitive. The strong in a meeting, other people can hear the buzz.
I just got a Neo, and i agree that vibration is very weak.
I came from a Pebble kickstarter edition, and that vibrated a lot stronger.
On the Neo, i often miss messages because of the weak vibrations...never happened on the Pebble.
Gear 2, weak vibrate here too. I never tried the 1st gen Galaxy Gear so I can't compare the two. But I'm definitely disappointed. The biggest driver for me getting the Gear 2 was because I miss phone calls and other notifications a lot when my phone is in my pocket, I was hoping this was the answer but so far it hasn't been. Making the band snug helps some. I wonder if the people who have swapped to a metal band have noticed any improvement with the vibration?
Can't have vibration and sound at the same time?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
+1 that was also my reason for getting the watch - missing notifications. (That and I can answer the phone on it, so cant do pebble) Lets hope on the next software push they have a "super strong" because what they call strong, if I am moving around, cant be felt. Maybe an option for vibration patterns might help too. Like if it would buzz me longer or more times that would be better at least.
having same problem
Gear 1 vibration was way stronger!

Yep, very disappointing. I have the Neo and I sometimes won't even feel it if I'm moving around.

Same here, came from a pebble, have my phone on silent and my watch too, depend on the vibration to notify me of missed calls or texts during meetings, sometimes cant feel a thing, hoping with time some dev finds a way of increasing strength or length of vibrate
See, to me, the vibration is perfect! I was using a ZWatch for a while and that thing sounded like an industrial vibration unit was strapped to my arm. My boss always knew when something came in, so I typically didn't bother with the vibration feature except for wake-up alarms.
With this, I get two very quick buzzes and it's silent. I've set it so the notification doesn't force the display to turn on so I can be more discreet in seeing my notifications.
I see nothing wrong with the vibration.
However, if others require more, then hopefully there's something that can be done to address it.
Hmm.. so the Gear 2 have loud shutter button but weak vibration.

Agreed! Gear 1 was much stronger. I dont think I even used it on its strongest setting it worked much better.
I miss the buzz on my Gear 2 anytime I'm moving around alot, and a lot of the time when Im driving.
Then the fun of the phantom buzz has begun. Im paying more attention looking for that faint buzz that I keep checking it for notifications to find there aren't any. Just like when you have your phone on vibrate and you THINK you felt it. ugh. (Biggest complaint about the watch.)
When I first got my Gear2 I noticed the vibrate anytime it went, but now I hardly notice it and often miss it I made sure mine is set to strong too.
When i was going through the initial setup, I'm not even sure why but the watch vibrated and it was VERY strong.... now "strong" feels like 10% of the vibration I initially felt.
Very disappointed with that, and the pedometer... I swear I sat around the house eating junk food all day and i'm nearing 4500 steps.....
I just went and got a gear 2 since my gear one broke and i have to say the vibration on this thing is much much weaker, the speaker on the other hand is much louder.

Gear S2 alarm troubles

Hi all,
I have been having trouble with the inbuilt alarm on S2.
I have it set as a wake up alarm for weekdays only and sometimes it just simply doesn't go off. Totally random.
I wear it at night and it's set to Do Not Disturb mode (alarms still work in this mode) when I go to bed.
I have had the watch since release date here in Australia (late October) and the alarm has failed mamy times since then.
I have done a total of 5 light resets and 1 factory reset since I've had it but it hasn't resolved the issue.
At first I thought I may have been sleeping through it so I set it to long buzz and it worked fine for 16 days straight, (I included weekends as a test) but then it failed twice within a few days.
The most recent time it failed was this morning and I know it definitely isn't me as I was awake and purposely monitoring the time on my bedside clock to check and sure enough it simply didn't go off.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is anyone willing to set a wake up alarm and try it out for a few weeks?
Thanks.
I use a daily alarm just on weekdays with no issues as far as I can tell. I've had the watch for about a month and I wear it at night as well.
Fred
Ok thanks.
Do you have it set to Do Not Disturb mode at night?

I have experienced the same issue. I have a daily alarm set for 8pm. The alarm is very random.

Yes, I set it Do Not Disturb and the screen to a brightness level of 1 (probably has no impact for the alarm). I especially paid attention this morning and the alarm went off.

I'm somewhat relieved that you have experienced this, I have been second guessing whether I'm imagining it. Haha
Hopefully Samsung monitor these threads and come out with a fix (assuming it's not a hardware fault)
I have reported it to Samsung support but whether the report actually gets relayed to the devs is a different story.
At the moment I have set another alarm for 10 minutes later in the hope that at least one of them will wake me up.
I'm also keeping a log but there's no pattern developing at all, it's totally random.
If anyone else has noticed this issue please do chime in.
If not, please be aware of it.

I've only had it a two weeks but I to have it set to do not disturb and have it on power saving mode, and it's been reliable so far.
Failed again this morning.
First alarm didn't go (6:45) but second one worked 10 minutes later (6:55)
Definitely an issue there....

Ok that's the new one which hasn't yet rolled out here in Australia.
Thanks. Please report back if it ever fails.
Can anyone else in this thread confirm which firmware and if the issue is evident for you.

A bit more info on this issue.....
My first alarm failed again this morning (6:45) but I happened to have my eyes open & saw the screen light up briefly at the exact alarm time, then go out again.
The second alarm 10 minutes later worked. (6:55)
I'm wondering if the watch goes into a "Deep Sleep" overnight & fails to run the alarm correctly ??
This is only an assumption.
Still no firmware update here in Australia so I remain hopeful that the new update solves it....
Anyone else, please do chime in if you're having issues, or not, and which firmware version you have please.
Finally received the firmware update 2 days ago so I was hopeful, but the alarm failed again this morning.
So frustrated!

Just bumping this thread in case anyone else is having trouble.
I have been keeping a log to take to a Samsung Experience store in the hope of having it replaced as I'm still having issues.

Hi, from Italy

Just a thought -- wonder if it has anything to do with the lack of speaker on the classic/sport?
I have a 3G, so alarms of course play a notification sound. I've had the watch about 6 weeks, and alarms have been flawless on mine., although I've only set single, non-repeating alarms so far. I've set a M-F =alarm in the morning to see what happens, I'll report back.
S/W version AOJ6, in the US.

You need to set it so it wakes you up.
If you are up and active it will work, as if your activity has already woken the watch from a deep sleep.
Have a read through the entire thread, I've seen the screen light up briefly (displays watch face) at the time the alarm is set, but the alarm doesn't work.
Autralian firmware - BOKK
Try it out for a good 2 weeks.
I might post pics of my log to show how bad it is....

I'm not sure that the problem is in a deep sleep condition of the watch.
This morning I was already with the swatch in movement when the alarm started but without vibration: only screen on.
Perhaps the trouble is due to BT off: before going to sleep I connect the watch with the phone to download data and then I took it off.... perhaps...
I have submitteted the bug to the Samsung technical support...
In the meanwhile I'm temped to buy an alarm app that repeat the alarm until you don't set it off...

When the screen came on, did it show the alarm screen or just the watch face?
When I actually see mine fail, the screen lights up and displays the watch face briefly, not the alarm screen.
Where did you submit the bug to?
Samsung have been less than helpful with me.
Quite frustrating really.

The screen shows the watchface (I think for 5 seconds)...
I submitted the trouble here (for US products)
https://contactus.samsung.com/customer/contactus/formmail/mail/MailQuestionProduct.jsp?SITE_ID=1
and here (for Italy)
http://www.samsung.com/it/support/erms1
Yesterday I tried with a payment app (I think it is the only one for alternative alarm) but it lacks of dayofweek programming feature, so I will not use it.
Today the alarm was faulty too, even if yesterday night before going to sleep I restarded the watch.
So I think that is the depp sleep condition of the watch the problem...
SAMSUNG PLEASE PATCH IT!!!!
For next week I will try with two consequent alarms.
GRRRRR.....

Random single vibration from Gear S2 without notification

Maybe I am just crazy but I swear, probably 10+ times a day I feel a single vibration from the T-Mobile Gear S2 that has no notification tied to it or anything I can tell that should be a reason for it to vibrate.
I turned off automatic heart rate checking.
Anyone else feeling like they're crazy?

Yeah this happened to me a few times this week. You're not going crazy. Really odd though...
When you lose connection with your phone's bluetooth it does a single vibration. That could be what you're experiencing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_vibration_syndrome
That could be it too loll
Next time it happens, check the back of the watch to see if the heartbeat sensor is on. It happened to me today and it made me wonder if it vibrates when it tries to take your pulse and can't get a reading.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
I get it once an hour ornso, but it's the activity reminder telling me to get moving. Could be that.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
Same here it is the connection dropping, you can switch it off in the settings, silly should show something
When your connection drops it will vibrate and once again when it connects, when you reach 25% 50% 75% 100% of your step goal it will vibrate.
This could be some of the instances you are noticing.

Samsung Gear S3 Frontier - Chime / Hourly Beep

Hello guys!!! I have an Gear S3 Frontier from 2 day ago and am so happy with it the only "issue" is that my ex-watch Casio PAW-2000 had the hourly chime and I just love that chime beep hourly. I'm searching for a possible app from 2 days with no luck.
I there an option beside the notification for each hour I would like a app with changeable tones or vibrate.
Have a nice day!
:good::good::good:
I agree. There should already be some sort of app available to do this, but it seems no Tizen developers have done one yet. Especially with all of the Big Ben watch faces available you'd think someone would have done it. Anyway, I would like to have one programmable for each half or even quarter hour as well so that I could have different audible sounds during each hour and half hour. The old sailor in me would love to here the S3 ding ships bells.
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I thought it would be something I'd like also. I can also see me wandering around the house trying to figure out where that beeping is coming from. Sort of like when one of my smoke detectors has a low battery at 2AM.

App like Wear Aware for Gear S3

Does anybody know is there an app for Gear S3 like wear aware that notifies you on your watch if you've left your phone behind?

Once you leave the range that Bluetooth works you will get a vibration on your watch and if you look at it, it will show that it's disconnected. That should be enough unless you just have numb wrists and can't feel anything.
Same here. I just hear the beep on my watch to know I'm out of range.
I used to have alarm apart on the gear s....but not available for the s3. I badly need such an app again.
