What ROM (and version) do you use now on your Honor 9?
If custom ROM are there any bugs?
I'm on official B372 installed through Firmware Finder .. since the useless Huawei update app never ever shows any updates
.371 just installed, via OTA (from .368).

NFC and hotspot don't work according to the post, hence I've not upgraded from havokOS8.1 yet, unless they are working for you?

I hadn't tried hotspot until now that you mentioned that and well you are right... it doesn't work for me either. I can't say anything about NFC though, since I don't use that at all. But other than that this rom is running fine on my device
Still on 368 here...

FF is working perfectly well , but it wont work on android 8 . you have to use Hisuite to roll back to android 7 then follow the FF instructions to install through DNS .. which only works if your connected to a WiFi network .

Yes i did it with FF .. follow these steps ..
You have to be connected to a Wifi network for this to work , it will not work using your mobile network .. you have been warned
1 - download and install Hisuite on your computer , follow its instructions as it installs the HDB app on your phone .
2 - click system update on Hisuite and roll back to an older version ( android 7 ) , this will reset your phone and wipe all your data .
3 - when your phone has installed android 7 go through the setup as normal , just enough to access the google play store to download FF to your phone .
4 - open FF and go to settings and check only show packages for your region and show only FullOTA are enabled , go back to the main menu and click on the model number , it should be STF-L09C432 .
You'll see an advertisement just click back to get rid of it and now you should see a long list of full updates , all around 3gb in size .. but be careful because not all of them will work on your region / handset , even though you already selected only show my region in settings .
Click on any update and the advertisement appears again ( click back to get rid once again ) then select check firmware access , this will tell you if the update will work with your model .. ONLY USE UPDATES THAT PASS THE ACCESS TEST .. unless you want a nice glass paperweight
Once you find an update that works select Get update through DNS , read the bit about FF not working on newer updates ( nobody has by the look of it ) and select manually . Now carefully read the instructions on changing your Wifi DNS address , don't worry about changing it back again because once the update has installed everything is reset anyway .
5 - Now go to system update and the new firmware from FF should be ready to install , if not just click check for updates . Then sit back and wait for it to download and install .
Hope that made sense

Check the forum for details, but as far as I remeber, 365 is unofficial version, that not going to be upgraded. To get OTA upgrades, you have to move back or forward, to supported version.

In that case use the factory firmware B368 to upgrade ( its available if you look through the posts ) . I used it and Hisuite allowed me to roll back with it
i will try since trying updating through the sd keeps failing also...Thanks a lot

Sometimes ES file explorer seems not able to write system files, I need to insist 3-4 times to modify any system files then it works

One more thing...
In FF you need to choose the latest firmware BUT wich has the mv pf at the end.. couse all others are not
flashable right now..there will be maybe some newer firmware for your phone but as I said not flashable..
And you should do this..
After downloading the firmware it will ask you to update.. then you should choose later NOT update now
And do this

No it needs to be mv pf not just mv and go ahead read a bit more couse I gave you all the instructions you need..

When at 5%?
You must give some more info when asking for help
Stuck at download or at flashing
If at download, did you choose the mv pf file?
And one important thing
When changing the proxy you just need with that proxy setting to check for your firmware.. then send the info to updater after that you go to stock huawei settings and check for update and it should give you the firmware wich you have choosen
BUT dont check download update
First go and make proxy settings as they where
Theb come back to stock settings and check download update it should start over the normal connection
But give us more detail where exactly you get stuck
If you are always stuck at some point in your upgrade process, your phone firmware might be a rollback package or not upgradable. I would suggest you to downgrade it to Android 6.0 by installing the right firmware (if FRD-L09C185 is your current firmware, you have to install the same firmware, a) the rollback package and b) the firmware) from consumer.huawei.com website.
Once you are successful, it will automatically upgrade your firmware via OTA up to the latest firmware of Android 7.0. Make it sure to backup your files first using Hisuite before downgrading.

Once you have it downloaded check the install later box
Then proceed with the dload method where you move the extracted files first to new folder called dload on the sd card..and then do the dial and choose firmware upgrade
I think this will succeed that way
Just look how to flash with the dload method
I gave you already the links to the thread
Its in the B386 thread on page 4 and page 5
Read that one
Hope this will help

Updates should be already came out if I'm not wrong, try to force the update by clicking on system uodaye -> 3 dots on the upper right corner -> down latest update. If nothing is found, try to write to Huawei and ask about the most recent update for your build
I have sent Huawei an email requesting information with regards to an update. Obviously I'll get no reply being the weekend so I have been sat here looking at firmware finder. So close to using it. From what I understand it won't void the warranty of the phone if I update using firmware finder. What if the update doesn't work can I revert back to the original version. What if the update bricks the phone? Is that easy to fix?

The rollback packages are available only for a limited amount of models at the moment (and i think forever, if Huawei wouldn't upload other packages as they've decided to do) so it could be a pain without a proper TWRP backup. For unbricking, there are some methods for doing that and it could be easy like it couldn't be, it just depends by the problem that could occur.
Ah thanks RedSkull. I might try and kerb my eagerness and see if I get a response from Huawei. This week's a bit busy so probably not the time to try anything risky.

I have this same issue. Firmware finder shows my device is approved but when I run the update VPN and check for the updates, the phone sees the update as L09 and not L29. As my phone is an L29 I want to keep the right firmware on it so I can retain all the functionality as it should be.

Same here. And I also didnt want to go for that one update because I don't won't to mess with my phone yet. Now, when update 369 appeared in FF I tried update through VPN again and guess what? It offers me update to 369, correct for my version, even it's not yet approved!? (Screenshots)

Same here. L29, but it offers the version for L09B for me. Anything I could do so my phone would download the correct firmware? L29-version was approved. I don't think there is much to be done through FF towards that. I tried in FF thread and in Telegram group, there is also ppl with same problem but no help. Alternative is unlocking bootloader and flashing new version.

I have to ask - how can I refresh the system update menu, as it only tries to make me download this wrong version update? I can't make it find any new updates, but it forces me into downloading this one. Do I just wait long enough until the correct update OTA hits my phone, or what? I'd like to get this thing "deleted" from the menu, and not download it for nothing.
EDIT: And yeah - the top-right menu has the "Download the latest full package" (or whatever the real English-translation is, my system is in Finnish) option so it can't be clicked.
EDIT 2: Problem solved. I deleted all the data the EMUI update app had, that cleared out this wrong update and now I can refresh the menu to search for updates again. Whew.

And good options is to disable automatic system update in developer options, if you already play with FF and similar stuff, so the wrong firmwares won't even start to download. Then you just disable VPN (or DNS), check aganin for update in EMUI update app and wrong update is gone

I have a seemingly stupid but still annoying problem. As many of you know Android 8 + EMUI 8 came out this summer and I have updated my Honor8. Everything works well, even better (especially with regard to the battery) apart from a problem, quite annoying. I have seen that everyone around complains about the same problem, so it is clear that both a build bug and not a local problem.
Basically ... the bluetooth link with the multimedia system of my car doesn't work as it should, while it worked well with the 7.0.
Tracknames, music infos disappears, sometimes it connects regularly, starting the music, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes the music passes from the car speakers to smartphone (!!)... in short, manage the music in the car It has become a big problem!
I tried all possible options; reset pairing, reset bluetooth, clear cache, activate the developer options to control some low-level aspects of bluetooth, and finally installed Bluetooth Auto Connect which also has several advanced options. Nothing works. In the meantime an update of 8.0 has been released (mine is the buiold 521). The update came out in September ... maybe (MAYBE) this update fixes all bluetooth issues (but i don't have any detailed info about). Until today I have not received any updates and normally I check new version regularly every day. At this point I decided to return to Nougat!
And here the adventure begins!
I CANNOT IN ANY WAY do the downgrade.
What I tried:
- through HiSuite. The "back to previous version" option appears random (rarely); normally the program tells me "the system is up to date". Once appeared I tried to run the procedure, but after the decompression it gives me an error "error updating".
- by standard Rollback procedure. Using a microSD and putting the full version of Nougate in the dload folder. The installation starts but stops almost immediately with the same "update cannot be applied" error.
At this point I am desperate. I cannot update Oreo, I can't go back to Nougat and meanwhile the bluetooth still doesn't work with my car. Remember that before Oreo, everything worked very well!
What can I do? Can you help me?
Thank you

The more you know...
Finally I've decide to try updating to 8.0.0.562. After a month of tries, fails (damn Huawei and his stupid update system), errors and a lot of other stupid things, I was finally able to update my Honor hoping the latest version will fix all the problems. It was a enormous waste of time (searching around internet)... but in the end I found a method described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-pro/help/p20-pro-bricked-t3868085#4And if you go ahead you should find the correct firmware link (on a Russian site). Although, IMHO, failing with the classic method was due to the impossibility or some bugs in the update system, to unpack the update files on sdcard. So the solution seems to be to leave both the zip and the unpacked folder. The problems with bluetooth remain, but I hope that now there is not to be crazy applying next updates. ATTENTION: the method above is NOT valid for rollback! If you try, you'll brick your Honor.
And finally I've taken an important decision... for me this is the last Huawei/honor device. Next time I'll go to another brand, with a serious update system.

Please I need help, last week I installed EMUI 9.0.1.158 on my MHA-L29 but I wasn't so impressed so I rolled back to 8.0.0.379 (by using HiSuite) and now I changed my mind but can't get to update anymore. No updates show up on System Update, HiSuite or HiCare. I deleted data & cache from System Update, even did a factory reset but nothing changed. How is it possible? I hope you guys can help me. Thank you.
I hv the same issue ,when I received the update notifications, I didn't update immediately and after few days it gone and I never get any notifications .please help.

I got delayed push notifications but then I realized it was my routers fault, so I want to install it again.
Firmware Finder says 9.0.1.158(C432) is not approved for installation but I had installed it before... This is weird

9.0.1.158 is no longer approved (at least for me). I guess we have to wait until 9.0.1.179 full OTA comes out...
same story, cannot upgrade to A9
will try with FF and modded hisuite, cause I was successful with Honor 10 today upgrading to FW 222. It works, but sometimes says no internet connection. It requires many tries.
Already have new firmware android pie dun give up guys.

Hi...the part with moving files is unclear, or was it translated from russian by google? I have already HiSuite latest version installed , so should I uninstall it and install the one dowloaded (older version) ? thanks

You receive the OTA?
I'm stuck on 8.0.0.376, do I need to upgrade via the spoof method to "latest" 8.0.0.xxx THEN try a full/partial 9.0 OTA?
Ive tried partial OTAs from 9.0 that are approved = hisuite says update failed.
Ive tried 1 full OTA from 9.0 that is approved = hisuite downloads passes all ok, phone reboots = verification failed (I assume phone is NOT connecting to internet on eRecovery phase right? but you never know. Since I'm only spoofing on windows not on the router).

Same here, i updated to 9 then hated the bugs so used hisuite to downgrade, then i got s10e, since the mate 9 is my secondary phone now, i need the butter like smoothness of emui 9
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
New regions for 9.0 on the Mate 9 has been released at the start of June 3rd. In the next week, I guess we'll see who gets it
9.0.1.191(C432) has been approved for installation on FF, so the update should arrive during the coming days/weeks.
9.0.1.191 (C432) is approved for installation, I tried install via the firmware finder eRecovery method but the udpate stuck at downloading 0%

It's quite strange that Middle East variant i.e. C185 has received the update since March and the Europe region is still waiting for the update. Whereas previously it was totally opposite.
Update: After wasting an hour and download the approved 9.0.1.191 via eRecovery from Firmware Finder, the package gave "Package Authentication Failed Error" on 99%.
