So I've been trying to get some different look for my recently acquired Mi pad 4 tablet, only to find out that there's no official way how to use the theme store feature. That is on the latest BETA xiaomi.eu rom (not sure if there's Mi Theme Store enabled on chinese global version). Anyway, after some browsing and trial & error I managed to achieve a partial success. This approach isn't new (as I can imagine), but here we go:
1) Download the following app from google Playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sid.soepic.mythemer
Please note, this is still in beta, for example when I tried to apply several themes, they're listed under the same name, in other words they don't refresh in the list. It's a bug, but no a major one, if you ask me.
2) Visit the following website:
https://miuithemes.tk/
There's a good choice of darker themes, pick one you like the most. Please note that you must download the theme with .mtz file format. Initially they download as .zip files, so you have to rename them in your file manager to .mtz format. After that just use My Themer for MIUI app from step 1 and follow the instructions.
3) Since the mi Pad is a tablet, it's not fully optimised with any existing darker third party theme to this date (correct if I'm wrong!). I was able to install some themes that change the status bar to darker theme, wallpaper and lock screen changes as well. But for example the Settings detail section remains white/original/unchanged. If there's a way - official or rather unofficial - how to FULLY apply any DARKER theme to Mi Pad 4 tablet including further system settings, I'll be more than happy to hear about it
P.S.: I've applied this procedure of theme use on Mi Pad 4 that is rooted. But I can imagine it should work on unrooted devices as well.
or you can use nova launcher, under widget for custom activities, and find theme app.

Appreciate the comment, however this approach doesn't work, because the moment when I want to apply any third party theme with .mtz file format, a following message pops up:
Themes from third-party sources are not supported. error: download|auth rejected -99.
With the My Themer MIUI app from Playstore I was able to install third party themes with no problem.
Thanks for the tip though:good:

If your device is rooted, you can change the fonts easily using TWRP to flash the zip file. I chose a custom font from this source:

I figured it out myself, any one wanting a way to restore to default theme or a different method of installing themes follow this guide I made:

Whats up fellas.
Lets go straight to the point. Here are the new emoji found in Android N Preview 2. I've included an updated Google Keyboard as a bonus. This keyboard was extracted from a Nexus 6 (not 6P!) factory image, so it's for 32-bit devices only.
Uninstall any previous Google Keyboard version (modded or not) before flashing this zip.
If you want just the emoji, then flash the "EmojiOnly" zip.
Disclaimer: You're flashing these files at your own risk. I'll not take any responsibility if something goes awry. Your destiny is your own. So just in case... BACK. UP. YOUR. SYSTEM. PARTITION.
Bugs:
- Some of the emoji don't display properly in the keyboard.
Note: Looks like the guys at Gadget Hacks were faster than me. Try their emoji zip if mine doesn't work, lol.

I'll try. No promises though. It'll probably take forever to upload (slow internet -.-).
But hey, at least the Google apps (excluding the keyboard and possibly some other core apps) are deodexed.
Edit: But do you guys need everything (EVERYTHING!) in /system or you need only app, framework, and priv-app?

Hi all men, is it possible to have the new stock launcher? (Now some icons changed ((DEV 2)))
Hi! Thanks a lot for the emojis, but I've noticed in the zip that apart from the "notocoloremoji" font file (which is apparently the emojis) there are also 4 other "notoserif" fonts. Are they needed?
I deleted them from the fonts system folder and there is no issue with the emojis. Maybe you should exclude them from the zip.

A previous emoji updater zip i had here also changed the notoserif fonts (it came from 6.0.1). I believe these fonts are somehow related to the emoji, but i'm not 100% sure.

The google search app is on apkmirror now. Get it from there. You'll want to download version 5.12.16.NYC or something.
how to uninstall emojionly ?
Just wondering if its possible to just apply a part of a theme rather than the whole package? Like just the icons, or just the AOD?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Unfortunately, no. It's been this way since Samsung started offering themes, and so far no solution has been found
Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
On a ported ROM for note 3 I used to uninstall the custom icons of the theme using the titanium backup Pro and used unicon to apply custom icons from the play store.
See how u can work with this info for your own convenience.
There is a way but you must know how to use apktool and have knowledge of what goes where. If unpack a theme store theme you will be able to say swap the lockscreen apk for another themes.
Edge of insanity
You can in fact disable parts of themes if you have root. For example if you want to keep stock keyboard theme and everything else be black, you need to find the apk for that portion of the theme and delete it after the complete them has been installed and reboot. Freezing them won't work.
You can use this tutorial to find the part of the theme that you do not want to apply. Hope this helps.

You can replace the icons for any app inside a theme without root. I mean the ones which are already in such theme. You don't even need a PC!
I have just moved to the s7 edge and I am temporarily unrooted and it took me something like 5 minutes to figure how to do it lol!
Apk extractor plus apk editor (the second one is a paid app) and the trick is done. Just extract the theme you need and replace the icons inside with your favorite ones. Just remember that png files must be renamed to qmg (just renamed, not converted). Recompile and install. Apply another theme and then apply the one you have just modded, that's all!
Weird nobody has shared a guide yet. If any of you appreciates it, I can share a detailed how to.
Apk editor is not compulsory, but it is one of the few paid apps I bought.

Sorry
Easy : if you want for example not the icons of the theme : use ''Debloater'' search it on xda, kill ''Theme ... apicon'' and on your phone you can now see it in app, uninstall, reapply theme and that's all ^^
Hey bro have you managed to make the tutorial? As the previous poster said... Many would like to do the same. For example I'm looking for a way to rip icon pack from touchwiz theme. I don't know how.
The theme is called Grey_abstraction from guy called Alex pie. I like the theme but I love the icons but he does not have it in the theme store. Would you know how to do that?
I'm NOT rooted
Hi
I was wondering if there is a way to apply a theme without modifying the whole system ?
I mean on CM for example, we can choose if we want to apply this theme for icons, settings, etc...
I don't want to change the style of my Messages app or my icons, and every theme change everything...
If I just want to change the quick setting panel / notification panel and the settings without changing anything else, how can I do this ? Maybe with root or xposed ?
Thanks

Just delete the packages which you don't want to be applied using TTB.

Great I'll try this ! Thanks
EDIT : It works indeed : I can make sure the icons and the home menu won't change, but it still changes settings, quick setting panel and Messages apps. I'll try to decompile the theme apk and see if I can remove the code that changes the Messages apps

Hi guys its Codex better known as Alpha_Killer previously Known as Network_Delta[emoji14]We have known that yet there is no method to get rid of trial themes on S8/S8+ unless we Disable ThemeCenter .apk or Rename it from Themecenter.apk to Themecenter.apk.bak which will disable themes ... well today it will change i have been wanting to crack the this theme thing and i think i finally did it.. Now get into Theme Center you should be able to change your wallpapers, icons, aods and themes but a drawback your trial theme wont appear in the themes Area but the fact remains you got your theme applied and can change wallpapers etc.
Its better than having the Theme Center disabled right??

Lol. He really thinks he cracked something. Have one better for him. Instead of renaming to bak. He could have just cut and paste from trial json to user folder and reboot. So he would have access to the themes at will. He only can't update them cause of course they haven't been paid for. People have been doing this since the themes started few years back.
Same principle for icon trials

any way to do it without root? Theme killer did it for a while but I forget how they did.
Without root
1. . Goto https://seap.samsung.com/license-keys/how-to
2. Sign in with your Samsung account as developer
3. Generate Standard Knox SDK key (Enterprise License Management)
4. Install ThemeControl app (APK file will be in sdcard/themeGalaxy)
4. Enable Device admin rights to the app
5. Enter your key and activate the Knox SDK ELM License
Now the Theme store can be enabled / disabled from the app.
Simply, Follow this guide to get ELM key
http://project-vivid.weebly.com/how-to-get-elm-key.html
Once after you disabled the packages, if you install new theme/reboot the device The theme center service may get start. So when it does, enable and disable the theme store again.

To remove a theme from the keyboard you need to remove or rename the apk that ends with inputlanguage.apk from the folder data/overlays/currentstyle you may replace the theme with another on just the keyboard if you put another themes *inputlanguage.apk into the currentstyle folder and rename it the same as the original you just replaced. Then reboot. I've attached a couple of images showing renaming the original apk then rebooting and you can see i am back to stock keyboard

Wingfonts, here's a link to the download.
You have to put the exe on your computer (which you will find in the wingfonts folder on your phone after installing the apk. Connect with usb and usb debug and run the exe on your computer, install theme, select font. Then restore your current theme after you select font.
Or you can use synergy and substratum lite theme maker where some themes have font package overlays.
