Are you gadget guru?
Anyway, thanks for the review and exposure to this case. I never would have known about it. I've been considering the Rearth but everyone has been having issues (misaligned fit, bad delivery condition, leasing marks on the phone, jeez).
I already have the TPU case and the Slimbook from Poetic, but both are so bulky for daily use. So I just ordered this case, for $5! Pretty good price considering that's how much the knockoffs go for on eBay. And I certainly trust Exact-Deal and Poetic after my last purchase.

Yes, I am GGHD and I have to agree with you. I'm surprised there wasn't much buzz on the Palette. Everyone must've thought it was just another slim case, but it's definitely more than that. It has certainly surpassed what I expected getting. I agree with you completely on the Slimbook; I did a review on that too .
BTW, check out the Atmosphere too. It's pretty nice too if you're looking for protection and the slim factor. The only issue with the Palette is that it doesn't offer great protection.
I have been using the Ringke SLIM case for almost a month now and decided to give this one a shot since it was cheap. I got it an hour ago and have to say I prefer it to the Ringke. It feels more grippy and it's much easier to take off.

I didn't even know poetic had a slim case for the nexus 4 until now. I already have a ringke slim but I'm tempted to buy this. Also pretty nice that it somewhat covers the top and bottom!
I had a soft touch plastic back on my last phone and I definitely offer a more rubber-like feel. I also got my slim case today and while it's nice, it definitely isn't grippy. Imagine the HTC One X (not the X+).
However, the case is quite slim. Although, the phone always seems to get substantially bigger no matter how minimal the case is
Also, if anyone was wondering, the sides do not hamper swiping in from the edge. And I agree with GGHD, the case can be very easily removed and applied on a regular and frequent basis.
A lot of positive things about the case ergonomics, but a grippier material would have made it perfect.
I agree with the advice posts. While the Palette is by no means very grippy, it has more grip than the Diztronic Hardshell and according to the other guy, more grip than the Rearth Ringke Sim.

Currently have the Diztronic ultra hard shell and love the hell out of it. However, I love the thiness of this and because of the review saying it's actually THINNER than the Diztronic Ultra hard case, I had to see for myself lol. I bought one on ebay because total cost with shipping was cheaper there than amazon. (No prime)
Do you think the Poetic Atmosphere will provide decent drop protection around waist hight? (as it's plastic, rather than TPU)

It's hard to judge protection and I don't want to say it will protect from a certain height if it may not. I would say that it packs a lot of protection considering how think it is.

Agreed. VERY small lip. Def thinner then the Diztronic Ultra thin. But Feels a step above a screen protector on the back lol.

I have both and seeing that the Poetic is actually thinner, IMO I'd go with the Diztronic Ultra Hard shell. The Diztronic has a bit better grip IMO. I mean they both can be gripped well and for $5 bux shipped, its a great case, but very VERY minimal. I don't really think the front face has a defined lip. On the corner's it's raised a bit, but not like the diztronic. Diztronic wins on feel and fit but Poetic wins on the price an thinness.
Hi
I'm just looking for some advice.
I'm using a Spigen Slim Armour currently and whilst I love the case I find it's a little bit slippery and the lip on the front is a little too shallow for my liking.
I cant decide whether to get an Otterbox Commuter or Cygnett Workmate. I've never owned cases from either but Otterbox is a brand name I recognise.
I like the workmates protection --- the drop test is convincing but there are reports about the charging port being too small.
The otterbox looks like it might be a bit slippery and may not offer the same protection.
Any advice welcome!
Im using an Otterbox Commuter right now, it's not that slippery though but kinda bulky compared to Spigen..

Thanks I happy with a bit of extra bulk for the extra protection. The spigen is very stylish but I'm not sure how well it will strand up to being dropped.. and it's pretty slippery!!
If I were you I'd go with the workmate. But I personally use the UAG navigator case.

I currently use an otterbox commuter. I think for the protection it offers it's not that bulky.
It still easily fits in the breast pocket of my military uniform without being all that noticeable.
Plus otterbox has awesome customer service and warranty. I've gotten several brand new cases from them over the years when port covers broke off or if I had other issues with the case.

Just got the Cygnett Workmate Evolution today. It's a bit bulky but I dont mind because it's going to protect the phone. One thing that I just noticed and you also pointed it out was the phone charger wouldn't go in and it's true. I'm using the stock charger that came with my phone. I'm probably going to get a new charger or return the case.

No need to worry. Yes, the charging port is too small (narrow) for the stock S4 charger, but one sharp knife and five minutes later... problem solved.
I received my Workmate Evolution earlier this week, and got my S4 this morning. Sure enough, the charging port was too narrow. I took a sharp knife and raked it across the upper and lower surfaces of the case's port, holding the blade at a 90° angle to the surface. Thus, abrading it rather than cutting it. Took about five minutes.
In Cygnett's defense, the OEM charger plug is much bigger than any other micro USB cable plug I own.
Hours into owning the phone, I can say I'm happy with both it and the Cygnett case.

+1 for otterbox.
I've been using it since iphone 4.
I recall dropping it from 6 feet on concrete.
The corner of hard shell broke but my iphone was flawless. They also sent me a replacement case and honoured on their lifetime warranty policy.
As for s4 commuter, I personally find it a 'little' slippery but not as much as a naked s4.

I absolutely love both Otterbox and Cygnett. In the past, I've had issues with Otterbox's silicone warping out of shape. The new one on my wife's HTC One (which is identical to the one I tested on my S4 earlier) is way better than the older versions. Went with Cygnett this time purely based on aesthetics as I think the Cygnett looks wayyyyyy better.
The main differences in protection are that the commuter cases have the hard polycarbonate closer to the edges, while cygnett offers a wider tpu layer. The lip above the screen on the workmate is slightly higher than that of the Commuter. Cygnett's TPU is harder though I can't offer an opinion on if its better or worse (though it means the fit on the Cygnett is slightly better, espcially around the sections where the hard bits clamp around the soft bits). I think the hard shell is thinner but the TPU thicker on the workmate
Usage wise, the Cygnett is slightly grippier than the otterbox. The button presses slightly less mushy. The edge of the lip on the front is sharper and you'll notice it though it's not uncomfortable. I like the fact that the ports are uncovered, but the reports are right. The hole for the USB port is too narrow. I can't fit the original cable in, however it's not a deal breaker for me as I have 3 other cables and chargers. Nothing a sharp hobby knife can't fix though.
To be honest, unless the sharper edge on the front lip or usb port hole size are deal breakers, I would recommend the Cygnett. That being said, both are pretty good cases, and you can't go wrong with either when it comes to protection.

i bought the WorkMate over the weekend. love the case.

Hey figsalan101,
Nick here form Cygnett, mate.
Sorry to hear about that the charger port isn't lining up correctly with the WorkMate Evolution, we have had a few reports of this happening.
The issue of the charging port has been fixed and all of the cases we are introducing into the market now are working correctly. You entitled to a refund or exchange at the point of purchase if you'd like to.
Regards,
Nick
I went for the black Cygnett Workmate Evolution in the end and love it - thanks for the advice.
The ports are all correct - I bought it directly from Cygnett's website and I guess they have fixed the issues with the earlier ones.
The buttons are still a little stiff even after a couple of weeks use.. but it's a small price to pay for the protection.
I have dropped it once already when getting out of my car. It bounced on my driveway a couple of time without any visible damage.
I still like my Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armour and UAG Scout but none offer the protection I need at work... and excellent grip.
Not sure if anyone has noticed but Spigen has started to sell the bumpers for the Neo Hybrid separately now.
I for one think this is awesome now I don't have to spend 30 bucks for the frame itself.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/samsung/galaxy-s4-cases/galaxy-s4-case-neo-hybrid-frame.html
Thats really nice, indeed!
I think I'm finally buying them. A complete one and other frames.
I noticed that too, but it's $10 for a plastic frame. :/
There's a thread here that discusses about a knock-off that's so close to the original that you can interchange the plastic frame. It costs about $6 for the frame AND the TPU.(albeit the TPU is of cheaper quality)
I was looking to get a new color but 10.99 is a little too much for just a plastic frame

Well, as a package, I'm getting a complete case. The price paid is for a case that's high quality, provides my phone protection and looks nice. I would have spent this money else where if not here.
In this case, the price paid is just for the visual effect with no other benefit, so IMO 10.99 is too much for just that.

Isn't this case too pricey?!
This is the only case you will ever need, guaranteed.
It is a little high. Your paying for top of the line. Port covers, holsters, lots of unique color choices and a screen protector. The case looks well made. For me note 2 I spent over 50 for my case and holster. The one I brought was good but this one looks better. I'd consider it if it had a kick stand.
The price should come down in a few months but I don't think it's really overpriced.
Or just grab a UAG case and get similar protection for half the price (and better looks).

It's certainly pricier than other models but one thing they appear to have accounted for is the fingerprint scanner. It looks like the case is notched right below it. Fingerprint scan worked fine on my Note 4 until I threw the Spigen Tough Armor case on. Now I can't get a consistent swipe.

I used to have this case for the Galaxy S3. It was really sturdy but one thing I didn't like is how the TPU/rubber material eventually would not stick/pulled away from the phone and I had to keep pushing in that rubber/TPU material all the time. It was pretty pricey to have to deal with that type of problem.
When I got my Note 3, I tried a few cases and eventually stuck with the Urban Armor Gear. I kept it because it was sturdy, felt good in the hand, saw different drop tests on Youtube, and was Military drop-test certified. I kept that case and also the case with the Zero Lemon extended battery since it was sturdy, covered the ports, and looks to be able to take drops as well.
The Rubber/TPU material is something I never favored either, haha

If Otterbox fixed that issue, it would be the perfect case(although still pricey).
I would recommend the Urban Armor Gear if you haven't tried it before. The only bad thing is that it doesn't have covers for the ports, but it's still a great case. I had the white/Navigator case for the Note 3 and for the Note 4 I decided to order this one:

For all complaining about the TPU cover stretching out on an Otterbox, you know all you have to do is take a picture of it with your info and Otterbox sends you another outer case free of charge. On my S3, I had mine and my wife's outer case, holster etc... replaced multiple times even after a year. So for $59 you paying for lifetime of support and free replacement with minimum hoop jumping.

That case does come with a holster but according to the seller does not have a kickstand unfortunately. It is the only holster case I've been able to find with headphone, mini USB & S Pen port covers. I'm waiting until the 22nd when it's available fulfilled by Amazon to see if anything else becomes available and if not I'll order it.
It is possible that case will stand up in the landscape mode when the belt clip is rotated to align with the holster clip on the side. My BodyGlove ToughSuit does that and it was not listed as a feature on Amazon when I bought it.
I've read Otterbox reviews in the past that state their cases become loose and I think their price is ridiculous.
If you can wait one of the holster/case Platinum Series Best Buy sells is made by Seidio and has a kickstand. It's the Seido convert combo. Best Buy sells it for $20 less than Seidio.

No but most of the ones on Amazon are cheap for a reason. I have a $1000 phone, I'm not too fussed about spending 60 on a case. Just can't find much that's actually quality in a wallet style. Otterbox folio would be nice tbh if it were actually available for note 9.

Hi,
I'm in the market for a decently protective wallet case.
So far the only one I've found that seems to fit the bill is the tech21 Evo wallet.

Any others out there that I've missed?
Thanks

I had the wallet case from tech21 for my previous note 8. It was good, although uncomfortable to hold for prolonged periods of time. The other thing I didn't like was the s pen and charger cut outs were large. Basically if the device fell on those area it would have cracked the device.
I have this case for my note 9 and the magnet inerfere the s-pen near the magnet
I had the ipulse leather wallet for my note 8, was good.
