Are you gadget guru?
Anyway, thanks for the review and exposure to this case. I never would have known about it. I've been considering the Rearth but everyone has been having issues (misaligned fit, bad delivery condition, leasing marks on the phone, jeez).
I already have the TPU case and the Slimbook from Poetic, but both are so bulky for daily use. So I just ordered this case, for $5! Pretty good price considering that's how much the knockoffs go for on eBay. And I certainly trust Exact-Deal and Poetic after my last purchase.

Yes, I am GGHD and I have to agree with you. I'm surprised there wasn't much buzz on the Palette. Everyone must've thought it was just another slim case, but it's definitely more than that. It has certainly surpassed what I expected getting. I agree with you completely on the Slimbook; I did a review on that too .
BTW, check out the Atmosphere too. It's pretty nice too if you're looking for protection and the slim factor. The only issue with the Palette is that it doesn't offer great protection.
I have been using the Ringke SLIM case for almost a month now and decided to give this one a shot since it was cheap. I got it an hour ago and have to say I prefer it to the Ringke. It feels more grippy and it's much easier to take off.

I didn't even know poetic had a slim case for the nexus 4 until now. I already have a ringke slim but I'm tempted to buy this. Also pretty nice that it somewhat covers the top and bottom!
I had a soft touch plastic back on my last phone and I definitely offer a more rubber-like feel. I also got my slim case today and while it's nice, it definitely isn't grippy. Imagine the HTC One X (not the X+).
However, the case is quite slim. Although, the phone always seems to get substantially bigger no matter how minimal the case is
Also, if anyone was wondering, the sides do not hamper swiping in from the edge. And I agree with GGHD, the case can be very easily removed and applied on a regular and frequent basis.
A lot of positive things about the case ergonomics, but a grippier material would have made it perfect.
I agree with the advice posts. While the Palette is by no means very grippy, it has more grip than the Diztronic Hardshell and according to the other guy, more grip than the Rearth Ringke Sim.

Currently have the Diztronic ultra hard shell and love the hell out of it. However, I love the thiness of this and because of the review saying it's actually THINNER than the Diztronic Ultra hard case, I had to see for myself lol. I bought one on ebay because total cost with shipping was cheaper there than amazon. (No prime)
Do you think the Poetic Atmosphere will provide decent drop protection around waist hight? (as it's plastic, rather than TPU)

It's hard to judge protection and I don't want to say it will protect from a certain height if it may not. I would say that it packs a lot of protection considering how think it is.

I ordered the palette case from Amazon and the reviewers mentioned there is a lip to protect the front. In your video you can clearly see a lip on the sides, yet you contradict that. I'm confused now

It does have a little bit of a lip. It feels like it has more than the Ringke Rearth case does.

Just received the case and the lip is very small. I'm concerned if it'll actually protect the screen.

Agreed. VERY small lip. Def thinner then the Diztronic Ultra thin. But Feels a step above a screen protector on the back lol.

I have both and seeing that the Poetic is actually thinner, IMO I'd go with the Diztronic Ultra Hard shell. The Diztronic has a bit better grip IMO. I mean they both can be gripped well and for $5 bux shipped, its a great case, but very VERY minimal. I don't really think the front face has a defined lip. On the corner's it's raised a bit, but not like the diztronic. Diztronic wins on feel and fit but Poetic wins on the price an thinness.

Hey guys I ordered my N4 about some time ago and it's gonna be here soon. Meanwhile i was going through the accessories thread and i found many cases here but I'm unable to decide on what to get. Need your help.
Firstly, should i get a full case with a front screen guard or a bumper with front and back protection? I really want to show off the back of my phone but then i don't want to screw it up either so i need your help in deciding for a case combo that will offer good protection. I really don't want flip cases or pouches so that's out of the question now. I've found a few i like and if anyone is using any of them currently, a small review will be appreciated! Here are the ones i liked
Cases:
1. Poetic Bumper Case

Please help me decide guys! Also, if you can find any coupon code it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I bought XO skins for the front and Xtreme guards for the back.
Also bought Poetic Atmostphere for more protection.
And bought the Ringke Slim and Nillkin cases for a slim and good feeling/looking case.
So IMO, I recommend those.

no trouble at all. im just lazy but no doubt you will get more responses if peeps can just click.
edit: i got a thing for the robot and i am not ashamed to admit it.
what i would like to see in a case is a way to allow for the sound to come out. my att gs2 speaker is slightly curved to allow for it to bounce. everything i see does nothing but smother that which is already smothered. i think i am going to do nothing more than stick a couple of milimeter wide and tall lumps on the bottom corners and call it good.
I bought the Ringke White Slim Case and I love it! It looks awesome and feels awesome. I also just purchased 3 full body xtreme guards. Total was 6 bucks! So i recommend those! :good:
All of them!!! lol
I got BSE, x-line case(i think), a Rearth case, and a Poetic bumper case but I know I will be getting the official bumper and hopefully a curved screen protector from SGP in the future to replace the front BSE if they make one. Same goes for the SGP Bumpers too. I'll be posting pics of Rearth and BSE soon. Someone should make a thread with a first post containing only user submitted pictures of accessories.

I actually didn't like the look of the atmospheric case. It's just the matter of personal preference although! Let me know about the xtremeguard when you can i heard they have orange peel effect which is why i'm undermining them.

Looking forward to it. Does BSE have cutouts for proximity sensor? Which is better BSE or Xtremeguard? Considering either and which is better among diztronic and rearth?
Xtreme guards are pretty good. But you can tell the quality difference with that and XO skins. XO feels much more premium and smoother. And little to no orange peel effect. So I would suggest XO over Xtreme if you don't mind paying a couple more bucks.

I'm waiting for tech21's Impact Band Cases to come out for the Nexus 4. They replied to a PM on Facebook, and on their official facebook page, that cases for the Nexus 4 are coming, and check it out for yourself, those cases will be better than anything out so far; a good amount of protection from drops, and a detachable clear backplate for showing off the backs of our phones. Here's a link to their Impact Band for the iPhone 5.
I've been using the Ringke Slim as a stopgap for the time being and while it's very good for the $10 total that it cost, I've been wanting to show off the beautiful design of the phone and it's a shame to lose that with the cases out now. The best of both worlds will hopefully be here soon! If you guys agree, pester them on Facebook and their customer service so that they know we're waiting!
Here are pics of the Black Rearth case, its really thin but pretty hard. If your looking for drop protection get something else. On a scale of 1 to 10 for protection with 1 being no case and 10 being something like Otterbox, I give it a 3 almost a 4. I'll be using it for now until I get adjusted to holding this bigger phone but I can imagine myself taking it off soon.
Here is my post on BSE screen protectors as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35194441&postcount=408
Poetic Atmosphere or Diztronic. If you're looking for a slim hard case, I'd go Nillkin
I wanted an otterbox commuter but since that wasn't possible, I just ordered a diztronic. My wife got one for my vivid and the quality and fit our perfect and it adds a much needed grip to the phone and adequate protection without sacrificing the phones good looks.

Yeah from the pics I would go with Diztronic. Rearth didn't cause the protector to peel but it did cause these two small creases on the bottom back BSE that are slowly going away. In the inside pic you can see two lines that go from the top edge to the bottom. That's what caused it.
Oh yeah, my BSE doesn't have a cutout for the proximity sensor but it works just fine.

So my flat black tpu case by Diztronic came today and let me tell you it is hands down better than anything out there and I could not be more pleased. I am comparing this to the Rearth slim case I was using and before that I also had the Ebay S line case for a couple days and while that case is also tpu, it is truly ghetto compared to this Diztronic. The fit is perfect and while buttons are covered there is still little effort needed to push them unlike many tpu cases. The feel of the case on the phone is also on the premium side and the matte black back does not attract fingerprints either. The other great feature about this case is the slightly raised lip going around the screen which is just right for anyone wanting to play music/put their phone face down. All of this is had with virtually no added bulk either. I highly recommend this case and know you will be happy with it.

It definitely looks better than the "S" TPU case, but does it offer more protection in your opinion.
It seems from your pics the lips on the front are higher than the ones on the "S"?
How good is the fit? would you say it's tight? Does the case come off easily?
Looks good, might still purchase this, although it looks exactly the same as the I-Blason case I have on my N4 already.
Hows the call quality? People complained about the official N4 bumper ruining the microphone quality so I'm wondering if it happens with this too.
I have one of these on order myself.
Would you say the Diztronic is significantly better than the Ringke Rearth Slim case? I've got the Ringke case and it doesn't fit as tight as it could around the volume rocker, too much play for my liking. Also my girlfriend hates how the four corners stick up a little from the screen (to protect the screen if its face down) she says they poke her in the ear on phone calls... Wish I had bought two of the Diztronic cases now

I don't have a case at all and I have to position the phone in a certain position on my face for anyone to hear me as it is. If a case or bumper further negates from the call quality I am going to have to pass. Even though I already ordered this and it should be here soon.
1. The call quality is not affected I already had two calls with the case on and it sounds great.
2. The lip is raised a bit more than the S case but not overly done, it will not bother you at all
3. This case feels very good on the phone, it is easy to get off it your actually trying to take it off other that that there is no annoying flex from the tpu or anything like the cheap ones (S case)
4. This is much better that the rearth slim because having this on gives me the feeling of better protecting just by how it feels in the hand and protects the entire bezel which a slim case does not do.
I may order the Diztronic shell case when that come out next week too
I think the stock bumper is stupid anyways
Haven't tried any other case for the nexus 4.but this diztronic case is easily the highest quality tpu I've ever used... Feels great. Love it.

it's definitely not the same as the i-blason case. I have two i-blason and the diztronic. the diztronic is sooo much better. i used to use their case on my gnex. very good quality.
Got my case yesterday. It fits nicely, has a good feel and looks pretty good too. Doesn't really add much bulk. The seams on 2 corners on the other hand seem a bit shoddy and looks like it might peel away over time. Curious to know if anyone else's case is like that too. Will contact Diztronic and see what they say.

I would get the black one, I also thought about the smoke color since it allows you to see the nexus logo on the back which is pretty attractive. But the Distronic logo kinda overlayed the LG logo and that's a no-no for me. But since Distronic has a no-hassle free return policy, you can always return it if you're not satisfied with your purchase.

I have Skinomi skin protector on with Ringke. The top-left corner is a little too tight and it pushes the skin protector up a bit. Regardless, I still love the case a lot.
Anyone have any thoughts on Nillkin vs Ringke vs Diztronic?
Have 2 Ringkes and a black Diztronic, of the 3, the white Ringke is by far my favourite. The Diztronic is nice, too but I find it takes away from the visual clean lines of the Nexy where as the Ringkes are so minimal, you don't notice it. Will likely be selling the Dizt shortly.

Of the Ringkes, I have one black and one white. I pondered on the grey as well but did't want to buy too many. The white is simply stunning.
Ringke All the Way!!!
I have both and I'd have to say Ringke is the best of the two. I especially like it because of how clean it is, looking that is. Keeps the phone looking very sleek.
Also, Rearth Ringke has very good customer service. At least with me they have. I pre-ordered the original one, and it had the slight manufacturer defect. I just e-mailed them through amazon asking for a replacement, not a refund. They had the revised edition in my mailbox on December 12th, day after they started shipping. They didn't charge me a dime, and even told me to keep the defected one and how to 'bend' it to correct it. I only sent a single e-mail, and they honored their product. Don't really see that much for accessory providers, at least in my experience.
Edit:
I have an xoskin on my phone with this case, and it doesn't mess with the screen protector at all. The xoskin is actually the best screen protector I've bought so far. I doesn't even feel like it's there. Smooth glossy/glass like movement when swiping.

I vouch for this. I have an xoskin on my phone with this case, and it doesn't mess with the screen protector at all. The xoskin is actually the best screen protector I've bought so far. I doesn't even feel like it's there. Smooth glossy/glass like movement when swiping.

How is your screen protector holding up with the Diztronic case?

When you say protection - Diztronic , do you mean - the Ringke doesnt protect the phone as Diztronic does??

Well the Ringke will just protect from scratches. The Diztronic is TPU so it will protect from small drops.

I usually always get a Diztronic cases for my devices, until I replace it with a Mercury Pearl Tpu, as they become available outta Korea.
This time since there wasn't any Diztronic yet, so I went for the Nillikin and I am very impressed.
I may still buy a Diztronic eventually if I don't like the Poetic Atmosphere or a Mercury Pearl doesn't come out soon.
I own both and I would say diztronic ftw.

Same. The rearth is junk IMO. I was disappointed since I love the slim on my gnex but it just feels like they cut a lot of corners on the N4 version.

Cut corners as....? The Slim Rearth case looks exactly the same on the S3. it's their newer model of their cases whereas GN had everything covered on the sides.
Definitely not junk, I prefer the new style over the old. But the old one provides more protection, the new one i like the material of it a lot more.
I wanted something cheap to hold me over until the more established case companies released something. I have the white s4, and like the white on white look so i started my search on Amazon.com because of the prime shipping and wanted something quick.

the case arived the next day and to my suprise it fit like a glove, it had a nice "grippy" feel while in hand, but not in the pocket. It is a very slim case barely adds any bulk.
All in all for a cheap temporary $10 case, it actually suprised me and i love that its slim. But due to the lack of material because it is so minimalistic, i would still be scared if it dropped...But atleast it protects from scratches and raises the screen and camera off of surfaces.
Rating - 8/10

Good to know. I'm gonna order it for tomorrow. Appreciate the heads up. I have the Supcase Slim Fit case coming today. I have the Spigen ultra slim fit case also, but it doesn't fit surprisingly. I don't think there is a difference in size compared to the UK S4,so maybe it was a factory error. But I've never tri the Cimo cases. Good stuff! Ty

love my cimo S-line case, glad to hear their other products are equally as good. Thanks for the review.
Hi
I'm just looking for some advice.
I'm using a Spigen Slim Armour currently and whilst I love the case I find it's a little bit slippery and the lip on the front is a little too shallow for my liking.
I cant decide whether to get an Otterbox Commuter or Cygnett Workmate. I've never owned cases from either but Otterbox is a brand name I recognise.
I like the workmates protection --- the drop test is convincing but there are reports about the charging port being too small.
The otterbox looks like it might be a bit slippery and may not offer the same protection.
Any advice welcome!
Im using an Otterbox Commuter right now, it's not that slippery though but kinda bulky compared to Spigen..

Thanks I happy with a bit of extra bulk for the extra protection. The spigen is very stylish but I'm not sure how well it will strand up to being dropped.. and it's pretty slippery!!
If I were you I'd go with the workmate. But I personally use the UAG navigator case.

Go for Otterbox Defender (if you don't mind the size). :good:
I realised I wrote defender..I meant the commuter case. The defender is just too heavy duty for me.

I currently use an otterbox commuter. I think for the protection it offers it's not that bulky.
It still easily fits in the breast pocket of my military uniform without being all that noticeable.
Plus otterbox has awesome customer service and warranty. I've gotten several brand new cases from them over the years when port covers broke off or if I had other issues with the case.

Just got the Cygnett Workmate Evolution today. It's a bit bulky but I dont mind because it's going to protect the phone. One thing that I just noticed and you also pointed it out was the phone charger wouldn't go in and it's true. I'm using the stock charger that came with my phone. I'm probably going to get a new charger or return the case.

No need to worry. Yes, the charging port is too small (narrow) for the stock S4 charger, but one sharp knife and five minutes later... problem solved.
I received my Workmate Evolution earlier this week, and got my S4 this morning. Sure enough, the charging port was too narrow. I took a sharp knife and raked it across the upper and lower surfaces of the case's port, holding the blade at a 90° angle to the surface. Thus, abrading it rather than cutting it. Took about five minutes.
In Cygnett's defense, the OEM charger plug is much bigger than any other micro USB cable plug I own.
Hours into owning the phone, I can say I'm happy with both it and the Cygnett case.

+1 for otterbox.
I've been using it since iphone 4.
I recall dropping it from 6 feet on concrete.
The corner of hard shell broke but my iphone was flawless. They also sent me a replacement case and honoured on their lifetime warranty policy.
As for s4 commuter, I personally find it a 'little' slippery but not as much as a naked s4.

I absolutely love both Otterbox and Cygnett. In the past, I've had issues with Otterbox's silicone warping out of shape. The new one on my wife's HTC One (which is identical to the one I tested on my S4 earlier) is way better than the older versions. Went with Cygnett this time purely based on aesthetics as I think the Cygnett looks wayyyyyy better.
The main differences in protection are that the commuter cases have the hard polycarbonate closer to the edges, while cygnett offers a wider tpu layer. The lip above the screen on the workmate is slightly higher than that of the Commuter. Cygnett's TPU is harder though I can't offer an opinion on if its better or worse (though it means the fit on the Cygnett is slightly better, espcially around the sections where the hard bits clamp around the soft bits). I think the hard shell is thinner but the TPU thicker on the workmate
Usage wise, the Cygnett is slightly grippier than the otterbox. The button presses slightly less mushy. The edge of the lip on the front is sharper and you'll notice it though it's not uncomfortable. I like the fact that the ports are uncovered, but the reports are right. The hole for the USB port is too narrow. I can't fit the original cable in, however it's not a deal breaker for me as I have 3 other cables and chargers. Nothing a sharp hobby knife can't fix though.
To be honest, unless the sharper edge on the front lip or usb port hole size are deal breakers, I would recommend the Cygnett. That being said, both are pretty good cases, and you can't go wrong with either when it comes to protection.

i bought the WorkMate over the weekend. love the case.
http://www.frys.com/product/7651437?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
super tough bounced across the floor a few times already and no scuffs or anything removes easy to change out the battery and/or SD card
Hey figsalan101,
Nick here form Cygnett, mate.
Sorry to hear about that the charger port isn't lining up correctly with the WorkMate Evolution, we have had a few reports of this happening.
The issue of the charging port has been fixed and all of the cases we are introducing into the market now are working correctly. You entitled to a refund or exchange at the point of purchase if you'd like to.
Regards,
Nick
I went for the black Cygnett Workmate Evolution in the end and love it - thanks for the advice.
The ports are all correct - I bought it directly from Cygnett's website and I guess they have fixed the issues with the earlier ones.
The buttons are still a little stiff even after a couple of weeks use.. but it's a small price to pay for the protection.
I have dropped it once already when getting out of my car. It bounced on my driveway a couple of time without any visible damage.
I still like my Spigen Neo Hybrid, Slim Armour and UAG Scout but none offer the protection I need at work... and excellent grip.
