Speaker & Microphone not working - Xiaomi Mi 4

Hello all, new to the forum, with a brand new Mi4!
Here is my problem: the loudspeaker and/or microphone on the bottom are not working, but the earpiece is working fine. This means that when I call someone, I can hear him, but he can't. Same with medias (youtube, etc): they play, but don't output any noise. And I mean nothing at all for both, not "like from a really far distance". When I put the headphones' jack in and out, the headphone logo is always rightfully displayed (present only when they are plugged in). I can connect my UE BOOM 2 by bluetooth, and speak with it while calling someone, and it works.
Here are the solutions I tried, that did not work:
Plug in and out the jack's headphones really fast many times.
Try the hardware tests (tap five times on the "Kernel Version" in the "About" section). Failed the following: 4: Main mic speaker feedback test / 5: Simulation Call test / 6: Back mic speaker feedback test / 7: Top mic speaker feedback test.
If you have any solution / questions, please tell me. Here are the specs:
Model: Xiaomi MI 4W
Android version: 6.0.1 MMB29M
MIUI version: MIUI Global 9.5 | Stable 9.5.5.0(MXDMIFA)
Kernel version: 3.4.0-g1910d62
Thanks a lot, hope to hear from you guys! :cyclops:

Hello guys, just an update. I tried to record my voice, and it worked (I could hear it in my headphones!). I don't understand why no-one can hear me when I call them. Someone having the same problem as me?

Speaker not working
I am having exactly the same problem with my MI 4W phone too. How do I fix it?

voice "falls" to speaker

My phone is Xiaomi redmi note 2
In the last few days, I noticed a problem
When I’m talking (phone or buetooth car kit) after few seconds the sound is going to the speaker. The status signal still shows the original earphone/ bluetooh, but the voice is on the speaker.
After swiching to the speaker & back it’s OK, but meanwhile it’s annoying.
1- why is it so?
2- how do I fix it?
Other ideas?
Thanks

microphone problem d6603

Hi
For quite some time I am searching for a solution to this problem, but I was not successful.
So I am writing to you ... maybe anybody can help me.
my phone: sony xperia z3 (d6603)
my os: cm 12.1 (cm-12.1-20160918-NIGHTLY-z3.zip)
recovery image: cyanogen
The sensitivity of my microphone is very very low. Almost none. People cannot hear me. I have to shout on the phone, so they at least hear me a bit.
This is always: Recording and telephone.
Only when I use the loudspeaker the microphone works, but the people on the other side hear themself, which is a bit annoying.
I tried different staff that I found in forums, e.g.
- Installing STweaks (see playstore)
output: "no kernel support"
- Replacing "mixer_paths.xml" in "/system/etc/"
- Using HD2 Mic Control (see playstore)
output: your device is missing /proc/mic_level
- This phone has two microphones, so some forums suggest turning off a microphone.
output: did not work; no change in sensitivity
- using different cm versions, e.g. unofficial 13
output: problem is still there
any help would be great.
The phone + cyagenmod is great, but the microphone problem is making the whole phone useless.
best regards,
fbratic
Sorry for the off-topic, but how did you managed to disable one microphone?
Btw I'd say your microphone is damaged. Try to replace it

Troubles with bluetooth speaker

Hi
I have a bluetooth speaker wich I can not make it the sound arrive. My Mi4 is running LineageOs (7.1.2), it connects successfully to the speaker, but the sound does not play...
The icon of the bluetooth is different from the "normal" one and when I see the notifications space, appears the player (in this case Spotify) as it was casting to the player, but again, no sound. When I disconnect the bluetooth, the speaker makes a sound (blink), telling that it's disconnected.
I have read about this problem elsewere, so I think it's not just me who have it.
Any ideas or help would be very appreciated.
Kind regards.
Hi.
After some time, I found out that this is a common problem in custom roms based on aosp android. It's widelly commented in the lineage forums. No solution right now.
Just for all you to know.
Regards.

Apps that check your Google Pixel for microphone issue

Download and install these apps (Sound Meter and Mic Tester). Check these once in a while to determine if your mic is working or if it bugs out.
How many minutes/hours/days can you keep your phone without restarting it? (insert sarcastic wink)
I just found out that my Pixel have a buggy mic (software). It lost the basic use of a phone, (to be able to use voice at any point in time, whether it's phone call, facebook call, skype call, telegram call. etc...)
It's really annoying. I've been flashing different android version from N,O to P(preview) but the problem is still there.
Is there a specific "golden version" for Google Pixel?

It is definitely a hardware related issue, trust me buddy.
Thee audio codec chip is broken, you need to get it swapped out or the phone replaced.
The problem only gets worse with time.

Hearing Aids: making calls

Hi,
anybody outhere with hearing aids who can make calls with their hearing aids as audio output and a working microphone?
If so, could you please state what
- hearing aids
- phone
- OS version
- and if you had to do something else (install an app, add a setting, ...)
?
Thanks!
I recently got myself a OnePlus 9 Pro and after pairing my Starkey HAs the phone outputs all audio to the HAs w/o trouble, even in a call -- but there's no microphone, hence in a call I hear the other party but they cannot hear me.
While the HAs are recognized as such, Accessibilty does not offer a setting for HA compatibilty, nor is there a way to pick the audio input device or at least check/modify the microphone volume.
All info I can find seems outdated or misses the point entirely (using HAs to make a call).
To answer my own question: w/ OOS 13.1 sound is routed directly to my hearing aids and one of the phone's built-in microphones picks up my voice (need to experiment further to find out how to hold the phone to get the best quality).
I currently try to figure out if it still works that way if I flash LOS ...
