Not really the good place but yeah i am waiting rom custom too. No need rom custom to fix this. You can flash your ruu on a .zip. Look here; https://forum.xda-developers.com/u12-plus/how-to/collection-htcu-u12-ruu-firmware-t3794664
Boy, you really have the balls to ask for a custom ROM right here. How about learning how to use a Treble A/B device first, see that you come back to stock after rooting with SuperSU instead of Magisk and READ. And listen carefully to what you READ until you're able to follow the guides, instead of blindly starting to flash away with things.
I can promise that there will be no custom ROM as full ROM for now. Maximum as Magisk modules.

You should really not be attempting to root your phone or tamper with it in the slightest then. Tough luck.

Yeah you got it right. He's used an old rooting method using the latest SuperSU instead of Magisk, broke a lot of things as it seems and now requests a custom ROM to fix his fault, instead of returning to full stock, read about how to root and mod properly.
Sent from my HTC U12+ using XDA Labs
What the hell?! Magisk is not really more complicated then SuperSU. Also like really every thread says, use on your own risk.
Return to full stock and start from a new. This is just rude.
HTC phones has one of the easiest ways to return to full stock. Get a Huawei and try it, it's a lot more work.

I will probably get flamed, but I have looked and can't find a direct answer. I just got my t959v as a replacement for my Vib. Can I root this without a PC? I'm on stock 2.3.6.
Thanks in advance.
Just to clarify, when you say "without a PC" do you mean no computer at all or that you're using a Mac/Linux computer?
If you have no access to a computer with which to use SuperOneClick or to load up a modified kernel, then I don't think it can be done as standard recovery doesn't give you the ability to flash like you can in CWM.
I have a theory but it is only a theory. I will verify at a later date or you can jump in if you want (might soft brick, recovering requires a computer).
Theoretically you should be able to use kernel flasher to flash a custom kernel with cwm. Then flash a ROM with root.
Again I have not verified this works but I will try soon (insert vague time stamp here)

I haven't tried one of those & didn't even think about that. Good mention for sure. I'm game with testing that theory with you at some point if you want.
Was hoping it would be as easy as the 959. Copy an update.zip to my sd, reinstall packages and bam, guess not. Will try the kernel flasher method. Thanks guys!

No worries. You could try the method you described; I've not done that. I'm wanting to say the one time I tried to flash something that way using standard recovery that I got signature verification errors.
Good luck; let us know if you need any assistance.

I don't know of a way without one of the custom kernels. All of the ones I am aware of come with CWM/root/voodoo lagfix.
I will admit I've never looked into adding CWM without root access or if it can be done, though.

Awesome. Too bad we still need to use a computer to work with our phones but eh, if you have such an expensive phone I'm sure there's a computer nearby nowadays. .
Glad you got it working, but I'd recommend flashing one of bhundven's kernels since they are newer. Subscribe to his kernel thread for updates.
Okay, so my dad had bought a fit a few months back and he's sick of how slow it is and how unstable the stock is...
I'm not a newbie when it comes to this but I've only messed with my Motorola defy and after some looking around here it seems like things are a bit different for the fit (apart from rooting which is very simple)
So I basically want the most stable rom (oc'd as well hopefully) and a small guide to get there from an untouched stock rom

oh crap!! I was scanning through this forum on my phone, and I forgot about it before creating this thread.. my bad :\
alright then, I'll flash that, but I need some instructions from start to finish
I'll root it first using superoneclick..
then what?
On my Defy I had to install CWM and 2ndInit because of the locked bootloader, but I'm not sure how it happens on this phone.
(on a side note, I'm quite surprised by the level of activity on this forum
Didn't expect the Fit to get any attention over here)
edit: I'm referring to this thread for installing CWM, but the instruction make no sense to me

Is this really necessary? I don't wanna download an entire GB rom just for CWM
Isn't there an app or something for this? I don't remember how I did it for my phone but it was quite straightforward
EDIT: I just looked up how to install CWM on my phone and it's a simple app from the play store. Isn't there anything similar for this phone?
You've got Froyo atm? If yes, then you do need to install GB first
---------- Post added at 08:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:39 PM ----------
don't use rom manager... it'll brick the phone
Okay then.. I'll do that first thing when my dad gets back.
also, will this work for custom recovery? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623761
Is it reliable? The thread's only a page long, so i'm not sure
So finally, just to make sure I've got all the steps in order (before a moderator deletes this thread!!)
1. Install GB through Kies
2. Root the phone using SuperOneClick
3. Use ODIN for CWM (what exactly is ODIN? is it an app or something?)
4. Download ROM and GAPPS and flash it through CWM
That's it right? No messing with kernels or SBFs??

Well fit got a very simple system ...
no bootloader problem nothing locked ...neither the recovery is integrated with kernel !!
so to get a custom rom...
jus upgrade to a Gb rom.(Download a firmware from sammobile.com and flash via ODIN)
Using Odin(a Windows Tool) Flash the Cwm .
then using CWM flash as many custom roms as you want !!
well, that's good to know.. but I have a problem
I do remember seeing Kies when my dad got my phone, but right now, it's not showing up on the app drawer. And the Play Store isn't showing up either
Almost no apps were installed since we got the phone, and it's only been used for calling and the occassional texting
Any idea what's gone wrong? And how do I proceed with the flashing now?

I'm thinking about romming an HTC One X for Rogers and I've tried looking up information about installing custom roms. I know I need to unlock the bootloader first and that TWRP is likely the easiest method in order to rom. But I've read some conflicting things. Does it matter which version of the software I have? There just seems to be multiple guides.
Would this guide work?

You can root and unlock 1.94 then flash recovery and rom fine.
Rogers HTC One X can be unlocked through the HTCdev site. Once the bootloader is unlocked you can install TWRP and flash any evita rom you want.

hey! that's my guide! haha, glad to see my first real contribution be somewhat of a success.
As long as it's in the root directory (not in a folder) of the internal SDcard, you'll be fine. Also, make sure you make a backup of your stock ROM just in case you need to go back to it.
Another thing, copy down your APN settings (word by word) from your stock ROM. Not sure if Rogers is the same as Telus, but Telus needs two APNs to get LTE enabled. If you could PM those to me as well, I could add them to my guide as well. Thanks.

So if you would like toto back up your apps than yes u can use titanium but yes make a back up sounds like u already did of your stock rom ...download viper 2.00 put it on your SD where you'll remember. To find it ... Once in twrp hit wipe menu ...wipe system ..factory reset ...and wipe dalvic cache than go back to the home menu in twrp and click install and find viper and this is very important since you wiped system you'll see in viper menu flash stock kernel or install rom ...hit install rom and go from there if you don't you'll be stuck. At. HTC dev screen and have to get back into recovery

One last important thing in case u didn't know
If you're ever stuck in bootloop this will do the trick to get into bootloader and back to recovery
Turn on, hold power 10-15 seconds, until screen goes black, let off, press n hold volume down, press power just 2-3 seconds, let off power button but continue holding vol. Down
LoL wow, already done. Using the rom now.
Wow, that was easy. Not sure if I should have checked some of the options (like one to enable exchange mail, and another for better sound). But it was so easy I guess I can always just redo it.
Was starting to think rooting maybe wasn't worth it (last root I did was on the original Nexus). Just going through all the features on ViperX, I'm glad I did.

Hi, this is my first post and I have looked for the answer but not been able to find it.
I have two questions on the same topic. I have HTC Sensation EU Vodafone running stock ICS.
1) I am half way through rooting my phone with the Hasoon2000's All in one One X rooting kit. More info at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632553
I unlocked Bootloader sucesfully using HTC DEV and then installed clockwork mod like it says in the tutorial. However, the link to the SUperUser ZIP Package is broken so I don't know where to go from here. I have looked around for it but wasn't sure which one to install as I didn't want to take any risks of bricking my phone. Has anyone got the link to one for my phone?
2) Also, I am wondering how to UNflash clockwork mod incase something goes wrong and I want to change my mind about rooting. This is probably simple but I couldn't find the answer anywhere for the sensation. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks!

I tryed that download but it wouldn't work when I used it and unless I can suddenly find the superuser zip, I think I will just do the ruu.exe thing. I really don't have a clue where to find one though so can you PLEASE give me a link to one. (Im a complete NOOB!)
Also, if I use the Android Revolution thing, can I get back to stock ROM because I made a backup from Clockwork mod (just clicked backup and restore)?
Always make a nandroid backup through your recovery. Yes if you want to go back just select Restore. For the right RUU, read the thread I posted before and there will be some links you can download the right one for your device in step "2.4 To find your RUU". But before you do anything READ it carefully!

I looked into it though and it includes a ROM aswell. I know its pretty much the same as the stock one but I don't really want to change my ROM. Sorry for being awkward.

YAY! My phone is now rooted! You are epic. Thanks. And to the other guy. The only reason that I kept thinking it was a Rom is because the folder was called Android Revolution. Sorry! I looked into the contents and found that there was only the rooting stuff. SOLVED!:good::good::good:
Are there any full stock, rooted 5.1 roms for N5 without all the junk people are putting in these days?
I searched the forums but failed to find anything like this.

Thanks but not exactly what I'm looking for. I would like regular rooted stock, without anything added/removed.

?
Just grab Supersu flashable zip, push it to /sdcard/, fastboot boot twrp.img, flash the supersu zip, reboot, voilá, rooted stock.
How hard can this be.

Vanilla AOSP is actually stock AOSP. Not sure if it's rooted or not but I'd assume so. It's in the dev section.
I just don't see the point. If you want stock.. You know what, forget it. Have it your way.
No, its not.
Check out the xtra smooth thread. In his basket build folder under additional is the stock image. In zip format. 100% stock
