Hey all,
There was an option to keep the watch unlocked when it was the wrist but I can't find it anymore and it is annoying to have to manually unlock all the time.
Did this option vanish for all people? I guess it was taken away in the last update.
I am on version
March security patch / Wear 1.5

Not sure about a specific option, but mine doesn't do that. Maybe because I enabled always on display. That's under developer options.
Yes there was a specific option that has totally vanished.

I have always on option under display settings then under gestures tilt to wake, touch to wake, wrist gestures.
You can also change settings in Wear OS on phone
Sent from my Huawei P20 Pro (CLT-L29) using Tapatalk
It's not tilt to wake or gestures that is now removed from the software, it's about the unlock.
There was an option to keep the watch unlocked when it was on the wrist so that the pin only needed to be input when you were not wearing / removed from arm and no heartrate detected.

This is crazy, now my watch asks for PIN even after 15mins since I used it. Can't use it normally
Seems that I need to ask Amazon for refund if this will work lie this.
The pin can be turned off but then it leaves the watch open if you lose it. In my case I find it accidentally does stuff while I am asleep or my daughter messes it up.

i have found that disabling the PIN also disables Google Pay. and even after re-enabling it, you have to set it up all over again.
from my understanding, the watch knows when it is on your wrist, so maybe you need to tighten the strap or check the heart rate monitor to always on.

Hmm, maybe when enabled Google Pay it removed the option.
I'll try disabling google pay and see if the option comes back - I can't use it in Germany anyway, I only want to use GPay when I am back in UK.

I've recently configured the fingerprint scanner on my Lock Screen but notice that a whole bunch of phone functions are still accessible as Quick Settings are still available (well, some functions are).
Now, I'm not the first to notice this - this question has been asked before here and other places but an answer has never presented itself - not on stock firmware anyway. I think this may be a Lollipop "feature" so my question is does anyone knows if Marshmallow still does this or has it been fixed? I say fixed because locked phones shouldn't be turning stuff on & off in my pocket!
Not sure, I know samsung requires you're fingerprint or pin etc to turn on or off functions.
I'd check my Nexus 6 but it's in the mail to my brother right now.
Just to confirm, you can change the setting with it locked, the quicksettings don't just show you what's enabled? I don't have my Z5 yet so I can't check lol.

No, not just a read-only display area. You can adjust brightness slider, toggle on/off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Flashlight, Airplane mode, Auto-rotate and LTE. My regular unlocked Quick Settings config has Mobile data and Stamina mode too. Weird that Airplane and LTE toggle are available on Lock Screen but somehow Mobile data and Stamina are "too important" to be left there.
I've read that removing all these from the regular Quick Settings will remove them from the Lock Screen cut-down version too but that's not really the point. I expect phone functions to be locked when the phone is.
Strange, I can see the use case for it, but it should be a toggle 'allow on lock screen' or something.
I've wanted to toggle bluetooth or airplane mode from the lock screen before, but at the same time I can see why having the ability to do that could be bad (evil coworkers lol)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
its not just about evil coworkers, its about thieves turning off Data+Wifi so you cannot use Device Manager !
a big security issue IMO.
Aye, though with features like reactivation lock is less of a issue since they won't be able to wipe and use the phone anyway. Still a security oversight though.

Seems I've answered my own question
I tested this on a Nexus 5 running Marshmallow and it's the exact same scenario unfortunately so it doesn't look disabling Lock Screen Quick Setting access is coming to the Z5 either.
I've also tested an iPhone running iOS 9.1 and access to the Control Center (which has Airplane mode toggle too) is configurable to NOT be available on the Lock Screen.
iOS 1 - Android 0

Yes that's totally nuts! What's the point of using fingerprint as security feature when you can turn off the phone using on/off button and all you mentioned above from the lockscreen! I used to use Xperia xposed or gravity box to configure it so it wouldn't but no root here.

Ah yes, forgot about on/off also being available. Turns out on/off is also available on iOS 9.1 lock screen even with Control Center access disabled so both iOS and Android behave the same there.
So it kinda cuts down the use cases for the find phone functionality on both.
Even on Marshmallow on the Nexus 5 Google have made it so location doesn't display on the toggles on the lockscreen for security of lost devices. But you can disable data still, the thing you need to tell the device to locate itself... Big fail...

Lawyers?
Makes me wonder if Google/Apple lawyers have piped up with, "You know, one of these days some guy is gonna hunt down the thief that stole his fancy phone and get himself killed. Now we don't want to be liable for that so let's leave an option open to the experienced thief to turn off the phone!"
Too fanciful?
Problem still exists up to date

I travel a lot and need an easy way to wake my phone from sleep state while it's in the car holder. Does anyone have an idea? If I can't figure this out, unfortunately, it'll have to go.
Aside from clicking the power button or using 'ok goggle' voice commands I can't think of anything else.

Ok Google won't wake it from lock.
It will wake up and ask you for the PIN before proceeding so yeah not ideal.
Try settings, smart assistance, voice control, voice activation.
You have to set screen locking to none.
Enviado desde mi MHA-L29
If your car has Bluetooth, you can enable Smart Lock and get around the lock screen that way without disabling lock.
However for actual double tap to wake you'd need Huawei to implement it which shouldn't be too hard with the built-in DSP.
It's more about waking the phone from a locked state

Why don't Huawei just add this feature thru an update. GOD damn it.
Yea Huawei may be sleep and dont listen this standart function! Damn it! Why must click on buttons when I need view clock? Back to roots! High end mobile without user frindly function. Problem is lock screen app too. I use very little time Z11 from ZTE and this function there are without any issue. M9 bad experience!
Emui = stripped Android. We buy these phones to get away from Samsung but Huawei ends up trying up be like Samsung. It's like they didn't have a clue when they developed EMUI.

Huawei Nate 9 double tap to wake petition
Could we start a petition so that they consider it for a future update? Really sucks if you re on the road much and need to press buttons to unlock your screen...
Did anyone try this on Mate 10 Pro BLA-L29?
there is a voice wake up, and also voice answer a call: simply enable it, and say "answer call". it will turn on speaker and asnwering the car. so you really dont need to touch the phone at all. i tried it when i was driving, it works well to answer call., for make call, i have blue tooth connected to my car's big screen.
I've tried some DTTW apps on play store but they either don't work or suck too much battery power.
For now I've had to compromis and use an app called "Smart Screen On Off (New)" by Luutinh that works on proximity sensor. I use flip case for my phone but can work just the same by waving your hand across the screen.

Did you check your Smart Lock settings (in Security)? That's usually the culprit. Make sure On-body detection, Trusted places, Trusted devices are disabled, then try again and let us know

I haven't even touched the smart unlock but on body detection is on if you put your phone down on a table and double tap the screen it still does it
Sorry, so when all of them are off it still won't lock?
I usually find on-body detection very unreliable anyway. I personally wouldn't recommend keeping that on.

Have you timed it and see how long it takes to lock by itself? Is it still doing it?
I would probably get ahold of a csr too, it is a fairly significant bug(if that's what it is) though I can't say I've seen any other reports in all the reviews...
I usually find on -body detection very pain full anyway. But i'm also not sure also little confuse.

Hi guys,
Just received via OTA last night.
Anyone now more about this update?
The first thing i recognized is the new animation, if you leave an app and go back to home screen...
Just testing if updating of widgets is still an issue.
Some camera fixes I think.
so far...

my phone received the update few minutes ago
Received this update today as well. T-Mobile in the US.

Slow-mow in 8x and 32x got rid of these snowflake-ish pixels. At least on mine with that firmware-update. Hussa! :good:
I also just received this in Ireland, noticed the new app closing animation but still haven't brought back the ability to interact with notifications on the lock screen. I'm running. 120(C432) also.
I did notice my handset was randomly rebooting on .107 so hopefully this is fixed as well.
Will update if I notice any other changes since the update.
I've just spotted this new eye icon in the top left hand corner of the camera app that seems to launch a new bar code/item/QR scanner feature powered by Amazon Assistant. Almost like Google Lens but nowhere near as good from what I can tell.
It appears to be the same thing that you can launch from swiping down from the middle of the home screen to launch the "app search" feature and the eye icon is up in the right hand corner of the screen. Really not sure how much if ever I'll use this to be honest!
Same here. Poland

A review of the Huawei Honor 10 on androipit.com mentions a view updates in Emui 8.1, apparently "HiTouch":
"(...) can be visually adapted in many ways and offers some exciting additional functions. On of them is called HiTouch and it’s an intelligent aid to identify products with the camera and to buy them directly. To use HiTouch, you have to activate the corresponding option in the settings in the Smart assistance area. The first time you use it, you’ll need to install the Amazon Assistant app."

Hi there
After updating to the 120 firmware, I noticed that Huawei finally dropped its own Emui smart unlock feature (unlock only if connected to a Bluetooth device) in favor of Googles native solution (unlock with Bluetooth, secure place, wearing detection). But after a short while, the smart unlock menu cannot be opened. If I chose it in settings, the phone asks for my pin, after entering I get a blank screen. Clearing dalvik cache, reboot etc didn't help. Restore to factory settings solved the problem for 1 day, but after that I suddenly got the same blank screen. Anyone any idea?
Edit: found a solution to the problem. Just disable secure unlock as a trusted agent under security settings, then clear app cache, enable it again as trusted agent and reboot. Working fine after that.
Anyone found a way to disable/change the new app-close animation in the settings?

That's a new security feature implemented with one UI... Basically after 4-5 hours without signing in... It will default to pin... Not sure if this can be turned off
I think it can be turned off by using smart lock, it could be connected to a certain device or location so then you can use fingerprint or face unlock.

For me, it only asks for my password around once a week (I haven't done anything to modify the feature). It may depend on which biometric authentication you've enabled. I only use fingerprints.
Maybe auto restart is active and phone restarting itself every night so this is why at the mornings you need to enter your password.

Don't set a pin.
I'm more afraid of being accidentally locked out.
Once bitten, twice shy... hardware failures could leave it in the locked state. Got permanently locked of a mobo like that...

Just check if your phone is set to auto restart at night. That could also be the reason for same. I have mine set to restart every night.

You can rule out that explanation by looking in Settings | About Phone | Status | Up Time to see when the phone last rebooted.
if your uing the face unlock feature which is less secure this issue happens it will ask for your pin time to time which is annoying.
disable that and problem goes away
