Help me!
First off, I'm sorry, please understand that I am not good at English.
I tried updating Mate 9 from fRomFuture_Stock_Rom_B198_V1.1 to Oreo LineageOS Beta 5.
Since we originally introduced TWRP 3.1.1.0 we flushed Stock Recovery.
According to OpenKirin's guidelines Flash from the bootloader, we did a factory reset with erecovery at the first start, but it stopped at 99% (I left it for a long time).
After flashing OREO ROM to SYSTEM, ignoring the factory reset process will BOOTLOOP.
I did not start it even with TWRP.
Flashing TWRP 3.2.1 will result in Bootloader ERROR MODE.
I checked XDA and tried Flashing Oreo STOCK RAMDISK,
But, FAILED (remote: Command not allowed) has been posted.
Other than FLASH to RAMDISK, it finish without problems on Command terminal.
How can I update to LineageOS Beta 5?
Someone please tell me! ! !:crying:
P.S.
It is also my first time to post here.
please forgive me.

You need to update to Oreo. What you're doing is flashing an Oreo system image in Nougat. That's why you're bootlooping. Flash official Oreo firmware first.

Thank you for your reply!
Is it a link on this page?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/official-oreo-update-emui-8-0-download-t3698229
And is the method correct on this page?
https://romprovider.com/2017/11/update-emui-8-0-huawei-mate-9/
My model is C 636 so I tried following this page.
But "Software install failed!" Is displayed when EMUI updater starts up and it can not proceed.

I would use Hwota to update: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
And download firmware update.zip, public and hw data zips from: http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/ or through the Firmware Finder app.
You should even be able to install it correctly through FF since you're on Nougat.
Just search for "MHA-L29C636B3" and it will list all Oreo builds for C636, then you can tap on some and tap on Check Access, if approved you can install using In-App Proxy or DNS.
Either one will work.
If none are approved just download fw and use HWOTA to update

There was a little progress!
The error seems to be caused by Rebrand OEMINFO.
I tried updating according to the linked HWOTA that you taught me.
Although the command line was completed normally, it could not proceed to the screen shown below.
My model is HMA-L29B635, and I update it and use MHA-L29C635B361 (C635) - 8.0.0.361 in SDCARD for updating.
What is wrong?

You don't need to rebrand if you're already on the brand you want to be on. The error just says it can't find update.zip (update_data_public.zip and update_all_hw.zip). The script should say if they are missing though. Make sure you are renaming them correctly and that they are on external SD.
You could also try using the Update folder option, by placing them (renamed) in the update folder in the HWOTA folder.

Note-
Applicable for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10
Similar steps are applicable for EMUI 4.X as well but TWRP file will change.
Hi Folks,
Just adding this guide for rooting method for Honor 8 Lite. This was tested by one of the user referring my original guide for Honor 6X and confirmed this is working absolutely fine. I will just simplify the steps so that any new users can do this without any problem and without any prior experience to rooting, it may be long but will be the simple enough for all the users.
Prerequisites-
Enable the developer option in settings-
Go to Settings--> About Phone-->Tab build number 7 times to enable this setting.
Go back in setting page, just above system update, you will see a new menu as -Developer Options
Scroll for the debugging section and enable the USB Debugging
You will be prompted for the confirmation with RSA key, just accept it.
Enable OEM Unlock in Developer Options (just above the USB debugging option) – Most probably this option will not be there on EMUI 5.0 (only few have seen on EMUI but it was there on EMUI 4.1 for all but rarely on EMUI 5.0)
Please note down you build number, this may become handy in case something goes wrong to restore your phone via DLOAD. In Settings- About phone- Build Number
Installation of required Drivers.
Connect your phone to PC and install Hi Suite on PC and it will additionally install all the necessary drivers to PC and HiSUite on Mobile.
Download and Install ADB from Link
Accept all the prompts and install ADB drive system wise.
Once installation is completed, if default options are chosen, it will be under C:\adb
Downloading the necessary files.
Download TWRP from Link Thanks to @OldDroid for his Original Thread and @surdu_petru & @XePeleato- This was not possible without their excellent work.
Move the downloaded file under C:\adb or wherever you have installed the ADB.
Download the SuperSU file from this Link and put it in SD card or keep handy on PC so that you can copy to internal memory later.
Get the unlock as mentioned in this thread
Actual Procedure
Unlocking the bootloader-
Backup all your data as unlocking the bootloader will reset the device and all your data will be erased.
On windows machine, go to folder C:\adb or wherever you installed the adb drivers.
Press shift+right click together and select Open command prompt here (it will be open PowerShell here on Windows 8 and Windows 10 machine)
Run - adb reboot bootloader (this command may prompt for acceptance of RSA key if not already accepted)
This will boot the phone into bootloader mode.
Run - fastboot oem unlock <16 digit unlock code- Put your actual code you obtained from Huawei site > (This step will unlock the bootloader and will erase all your data)
Phone will restart automatically.
Installing TWRP
Once on the system, open the PowerShell or command prompt again in ADB folder (can use the previous instance as well)
Run - adb reboot bootloader
Once in bootloader, Run - fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-berlin.img (This will install the TWRP recovery for EMUI 5.0 on your phone)
Once done with the flashing the TWRP, Run - fastboot reboot
Rooting
Once booted to system, open the PowerShell or command prompt in ADB folder (can use the previous instance as well)
Run - adb reboot recovery
And your phone will boot into the TWRP recovery by Open Kirin Team.
Copy the SuperU file downloaded to SD card or Internal memory.
Install the SuperSU zip.
Reboot and enjoy the complete ownership of the device with root permission and happy Flashing the custom ROMs

Hi, i have a honor 8 FRD-L09 unlocked bootloader, I don't know what was the original rom. I can't start it, I tried to install many versions, with dload nothing is working it stops at 5% and gives an error,I achieved to get one at 25% but it then failed but with fastboot and huawei extractor im able to install recovery, boot, system img files but it doesn't changes anything. I have access to erecovery but when I try to connect to a wifi it says that it's a wrong password even though im sure it's the right. If anyone is able to help me it could be nice, Thank you.
I installed twrp recovery but it still boots on emui erecovery.

You need to remove your USB cable to boot on TWRP (press "Power" and "Vol+" buttons, and only release "Power" - only hold "Vol+" - button when first blue screen appears).
If your phone is stuck on message "Device is booting...", you flashed a wrong TWRP version. Ask me if you want to try an another version.
But firstly, did you try this how-to (dload folder method): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/problem-frd-l09-t3596449 ?
Is there a model number written bottom back of your phone? (real FRD-L09 model?)
Good luck! =)

Is it "Rollback package" UPDATE.APP which fail at 30%? Try "firmware B131" UPDATE.APP directly, if you have not.
I don't know about extracting ".img" from an UPDATE.APP file and flashing them... seems dangerous. ^^

Try this 10 steps, that's the last idea I could give you...
0. Need an unlocked bootloader / Knowing how to boot on bootloader and use adb/fastboot command-line tools. (GUIDE HERE)
1. Download TWRP:
-- 1a) Recent version (EMUI 5.x installed firmware): twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img and use fastboot command to flash it
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img
>>>> If phone is stuck on message "device is booting now..." when you try to boot TWRP, use old version.
-- 1b) Old version (EMUI 4.1 installed firmware): twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img and use fastboot command to flash it
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-frd-modaco-rc1.img
2. Download this modded FRD-L09C432B131 firmware (.zip): here
3. Copy the zip file to your SD card. (You can do that when your phone is booted on TWRP: plug your USB cable)
4. In TWRP, go to "Wipe" > "Format Data".
5. In TWRP, go to "Flash" > Select the zip file and flash!
6. When finished, do step 4 again before rebooting your phone!
7. Phone can take some minutes to boot, take it easy! If it works, download "stock" (original) B131 firmware: https://www.hihonor.com/uk/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=92101
8. Open the zip file and extract "dload" folder on your computer. Then copy the "dload" folder inside your SD card (root of the SD card).
9. Flash it with "Power" + "Vol-" + "Vol+" buttons.
10. Last step (RECOMMENDED) - Factory reset: how-to
:fingers-crossed:
Hi people,
I need some help here and I hope anybody got an idea to get my FRD-L09 (C432 - on B521 base with OpenKirin's RROS Oreo) to work again somehow.
Situation is: After a failed attempt to upgrade the firmware base to B562 my device is now bootlooping, and goes into eRecovery, after one or two tries to boot, which is then offering to "Download and recovery". That fails at getting package info ("Getting package info failed").
Next I tried to install full OTA-PV package (extracted UPDATE.APP) via dload folder on my SD - that fails at 5 % ("Software install failed!"). For this I took the service ROM from this thread (see post #24 for Oreo version) and version B521 for FRD-L09C432 from firmware finder.
I also tried to get into TWRP 3.2.0 from Huawei Multi-Tool by TeamMT but this suddenly reboots after a few seconds everytime - so this is also useless (I tried several TWRP versions I found - maybe 'bootcomplete=false'?). I hoped to flash the extracted .img files with it.
Flashing the extracted .img files (specially the vendor image, because I think I destroyed it somehow) via fastboot also fails with error "command not allowed". Replacing the eRecovery with TWRP is also not possible (not allowed).
Flashing to system, recovery_ramdisk, kernel etc. via fastboot is possible without any problems - which shows that bootloader and frp are both unlocked.
Info btw: in this few seconds in TWRP I could see that vendor partition cannot be mounted - which shows that it's likely an error on this partition.
Is there any way to flash any "other" (vendor) partition via fastboot? Or do you guys have any ideas to this what I can try - except for bringing this thing to service center for repair :silly:? And please ask, if something is not clear or I forgot to give any info.
Any help is very appreciated.

Okay, I brought it back to life again.
TWRP by Pretoriano80 and zxz0O0 for BKL (Honor view 10) (link) worked and let me flash firmware again. I used HuRU to flash B562 - and now it's booting again.
Soo... what can I do next to mess up my device :silly:
And note for me: HiSuite, eRecovery and 'update via dload' are all useless in case of a problem.

Usually dload did the job well for me. I don't know why it didn't in that case.
But I'm still looking for an easy way to upgrade the firmware base for future use (in case we get some)
Next time just use HiSuite windows version with Firmware Finder's DNS trick to flash any stock ROM version what you need, only works with version 5.0.2.300. I've got the same issue and recoered by this method ease.
You can download it here.
For those who want to try LineageOS 17.1/18.1-UNOFFICIAL-GSI . IMO stable enough to be used as your daily driver.
LOSQ/LiR is not developed nor maintained by me!
Credits: @eremitein
Requirements: basically full stock EMUI 9.1, with stock recovery_ramdisk.
Note: I prefer to install in fastboot mode, it's quick, easy and most importantly, safe.
IMPORTANT! Before booting up the ROM, you will need to perform a factory reset in stock recovery!
Install arm64-b.. only!
1. LOSQ - LineageOS 17.1-[10]-unofficial-GSI
with the GAPPS
GAPPS
without GAPPS
Vanilla
-----------------------
LiR- LineageOS 18.1-unofficial-[11]-GSI

2. Extract the ROM .img file from the compressed file.
3. Flash extracted losq/lir... .img from fastboot , use command
fastboot flash system (file_name).img
4. Run command fastboot reboot, unplug your phone, when appears on screen yellow warning, press and hold for 3 sec Volume Up . In eRecovery select 'Wipe data/factory reset'.Reboot .

Magisk root (23.0):
(Note: If you don't plan to use TWRP, simply install patched Recovery_ramdisk in fastboot mode. Run command
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk magisk_patched-23.img ),
- download and install Magisk manager-23.apk:

- Install TWRP-9.1
https://mega.nz/#!tkcTlATI!A8UJGPBGtxJbLcUOJoxCGJj5PFZXzCnjbb3OkwqKTP8
over eRecovery (it's necessary on EMUI 9.1):
- copy TWRP file to the SD card, and also copy to the SD card patched Recovery_ramdisk:
https://mega.nz/file/lp1kHLxJ#htCMaPjSsg_dy0w_jNOft-t_DZRAPwhOvwy_Wr2cjX8
- flash TWRP - run command
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk (TWRP's_name).img
- boot into TWRP, select storage - SD Card, select "Install image", find TWRP-9.1.img file and mark eRecovery, swipe. Go back, find magisk_patched-23.img file, mark Recovery, swipe. Go back to the TWRP's main menu, select Reboot > Recovery. Done.
Note: you then need to boot your phone every time via Recovery. It'll boot into android as normal but with root.
( Note: for those who want keep the erecovery as a fail-safe:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-erecovery-with-twrp-installed-on-it.4357127/ )
To remove Magisk reinstall stock recovery_ramdisk via TWRP or fastboot , download Here
How to boot into TWRP:
- Turn off your phone, connect to the PC (or charger), then press and hold Power + Volume Up, device will reboot into eRecovery (= TWRP).
How to boot into patched Recovery :
- Restart your phone, when appears the yellow warning on the screen, press and hold Volume Up for ~ 2 sec,
release the button and immediately press and hold again for ~ 2 sec. Repeat it 6-7 times, the device will reboot into Stock Recovery (you can perform Wipe cache or Factory reset).

I have tried this rom - but without the magisk as I don't really care for root.. However.. This rom still has one big missing feature.. Fingerprint unlock. I can go to register fingerprint. Add the finger multible times to complete the circle.. however.. every time it misses just the last part - it will fail. If anyone has a fix for this I would be happy to use this as my daily driver as it works just fine.

How will updates be perform in future?
How to switch from LOS 16 to this rom - the other P20 lite we have is still on v.16?

Install Service ROM using dload method (9.1.0.132 recomm.) , then you can safely flash 17.1 GSI. Dload method will erase all your data and will lock the BL again!

Ugh, is there a way to install emui 9 without it locking my bootloader? I unlocked my bootloader via the @huaweihax method.

OTA update, via HiSuite, you can try also through eRecovery ...
make sure to have the stock recovery flash.

Idk how huaweihax method works, but the BL unlock
code is permanent, it wont expire, you use the same bootloader code to unlock if your device is relocked.
Btw, with EMUI 8 installed with May 2018 security patch you should be able to use DC-Unlocker or hcu-client to get BL unlock code for 4euros.
Or, you can also unlock BL for free using
PotatoNV method

There's no way I'm paying for unlocking!
The huaweihax method works this way: you give some information about your device and you flash a slock file to the ramdisk. It unlocks your phone.
To prevent EMUI 9 from re-locking your device, you can flash a zip file to have a custom bootloader unlock code.
Btw, I have hyperlinked the thread that describes this in the "thingy" word.
I guess that custom code should work even if my device is re-locked.

Sorry, this is not the DC-Phoenix support chat, let's please remember to keep conversations and comments in this thread about LOSQ - LineageOS 17.1, thanks...
Thanks @-Alf-
I followed all your advice in the LOS 16 thread to get 16 installed, but couldn't get gapps to work. So I thought lemme give LOS 17 a shot since it includes gapps, and it works great! However I get the same issue with fingerprint as @whitetigerdk. During fingerprint enrolment it works up until the last time you have to finger it, after which I get popup "Enrolment was not completed: Fingerprint enrolment didn't work. Try again or use a different finger". I can provide a screenshot but it's literally just that text.
Apart from that everything seems to work fine. Haven't installed magisk yet, will do that next.

Most of custom ROMs require lower build number, on latest build number may or may not work correctly.
If you have followed this guide to the letter and it didn't work, i'm afraid I cant help you .
I've not had any major issue with this LineageOS.
P.S.:
If all this has worked on my device, it does not mean that it goes with everyone else, and vice versa (we are talking about Huawei devices ).
@-Alf- Thanks, that might be it. I'm on firmware 9.1.0.200(C185E4R1P8T8) as that was the recommended one for LOS 16. Let me give it a shot with 132, will update with results.
Edit: With "Clean OS" I assume you mean a clean install of the stock ROM? My approach is to install 132 via dload, unlock bootloader, then follow your installation steps.

Yes, but I'm afraid there's no .132 build number for region C185 on androidhost.ru
IMO you can get it via paid service only, for 17euros , hm...look here
.132
The difference between .132 and .200 is google patch - may 2019 vs. july 2019.

What about this one? http://huawei-firmware.com/rom/huawei-p20-lite/ane-lx1/42056
It doesn't have a dload folder, it's just the update.zip basically, so I'm not sure how to flash it only unlocked my phone yesterday, not used to huawei roms yet.
Edit: they explain how here, you create the dload folder manually.

What do you mean really reliable when the guide is for Android 6? Is there a way to flash the 132 ROM from huawei-firmware?
Also, magisk installation worked perfectly by following your instructions. I can pass safety net with the universal safetynet fix module and got google play certification with the props module.
Is there a way to now boot into TWRP (erecovery)? Currently when booting it doesn't show the option to hold volume up to enter erecovery, it immediately says your phone is booting now. The only way to get into TWRP is to fastboot flash recovery twrp, do stuff there, then flash magisk_patched-ane-v21 over recovery and reboot.
Edit: I captured a logcat while getting the fingerprint enrollment error, there are some exceptions about the enrollment, not sure if that could mean something to the devs to help fix it?

Oops I thought I mentioned it in my post, mea culpa.
You have two options:
1. Turn off phone, connect to PC (or charger), then pres and hold Power + Volume Up, device will reboot into eRecovery (= TWRP).
2. Restart phone, when appears the yellow warning on screen, press Volume up, hold for ~ 2 sec,
release the button and immediately press and hold again for 2 sec, repeat it 6-7 times, the device will reboot into Stock Recovery , then you can do normal restart - Reboot system now.
What I have done
I unlocked the bootloader of my Honor 6x using the testpoint method
I installed TWRP and Magisk
I decided that I was not satisfied with the stock OS and wanted to install a custom ROM
I forgot to make a backup using TWRP before flashing
I tried to flash LineageOS but it did not work and caused a bootloop (the boot animation shows for about 5 minutes and then reboots)
Using Huawei eRecovery to restore the device was not possible, and it returns the message of "Getting package info failed".
This is likely due to the website "http://update.hicloud.com/" being down
Cannot download any stock ROMs as the downloads I found are all from "http://update.hicloud.com/"
This is the only thread I found about the website being down: link
After some digging I found an old ROM (EMUI 4) that I can use, and flashed it using TWRP
The system booted up just fine after that, but the system looked really old and I wanted to update it
I found an update file and tried to install it using the dload method, which installed through the Huawei recovery just fine.
The phone rebooted and now bootloops to the Huawei eRecovery everytime.
I thought of flashing TWRP again so that maybe I can flash the old rom again, but it does not work and returns the following errors.
command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
error: Writing 'recovery' FAILED (remote: 'image verification error')
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img
error: Writing 'recovery_ramdisk' FAILED (remote: 'partition length get error')
Questions
What can I do in this situation with only have access to fastboot commands and the Huawei eRecovery?
Should I just wait for the update website to come back up so that the eRecovery will work and I can install the latest OS from there? Will that ever happen?
hey i can help ! which version of twrp are you trying to flash ?

The update website isn't going to come back anytime soon. But if you just don't mind opening your device again(you need to access the test point), there's a fix. this method doesn't just need anything. even if your device is hard bricked, it can get you back running. This was described in a youtube video with working links based on a forum on xda.
link : click here
I got a similar problem recently but I flashed update.zip of emui 8 - > Bootlooped - > factory reset with twrp - > successfully booted but doesn't get past the setup screen. Fix : flashed a gsi treble image(based on android 10) - > working perfect except for camera and volte.

My bad , I thought the update website to be huawei's official one(something like update.hicloud and all isn't it?). Well, thanks for the information but I still prefer gsi. It's buttery smooth .
And one more thing, if you follow the youtube video I mentioned, you don't need any gsi. You can get your device back on stock EMUI 5.

Did you try using another recovery image instead of the one you are getting error for?

My bootloader is still unlocked, yes. However, I did not try to flash another recovery image, as I was not sure where I could find one that worked. I forgot which image I used at first but it had worked the first time, so that was why I did not bother finding a different recovery. Do you have a suggestion for a recovery to install?

I'm attaching one that works with emui 8 try using it (Remember you have to flash it to recovery_ramdisk).
Well after reading your post 1 again, I think there's no such partition as recovery_ramdisk(because it will be there only from android 8). So find a recovery in google which works on hi6250 devices with emui 4. That should work. Update me with the result

So I have tried many different recoveries, such as ones for EMUI 4 and 5 and flashing directly to recovery, which gave me an error "image verification failed", and flashing an EMUI 8 to ramdisk would give me the same error as before. I think the partitions on this device is really messed up lol. Also, when I type fastboot reboot recovery, it would just get stuck at the loading screen, so does that mean there is no working recovery installed?

Are you trying anything else?
Ok we have some option that could help you...
Im read in the 4PDA (the russian XDA xD) forum that it should be possible to flash the oeminfo by fastboot command. So just download the HWOTA_BLN_Eng and expand it. Then go to 7 or 8 Folder and there you go to oeminfo folder. There you choose the right one for your Device and local area...for example BLN-L21 (Device) C432 (European Area)
Extract the file to your desktop and rename it to BLN-L21C432.img
--->be sure that you have the right Device driver installed and the right ADB driver for your device to<---
ok now Copy and Paste the BLN-L21C432.img to ADB folder and start command with admin rights
start the phone into fastboot mode
--->bootloader must be unlocked<---
in the command
fastboot flash oeminfo BLN-L21C432.img
wait for the result and it can not hurt to pray a bit in this moment...hihi
if this have success...you type in command
fastboot reboot
wait to the screen you can press 3 seconds Vol+ to go into erecovery....connect to wlan and it should work step by step like it should.
after download and recover the stock rom reboot and go again to erecover by press Vol+ for 3 seconds and now go to the second option...wipe data/factory reset and write yes+enter
in stock recovery wipe Data after that wipe Cache...reboot and wait that system boot the initial boot for first setup.
If this will not working...tell me what honor 6x you have and wich local area you are from and wich firmware you stock had before you doing wronng
good luck bro
