Identify burnt smd component on board, MTCD - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hey guys,
last week, out of sudden my board started to smell burnt and i could see some smoke rising from the HU, anyhow i did take some pictures and i need to identify the part to order one and fix my HU.
Everything just works as it should, beside of the right half of the buttons arent illuminated anymore.
And i finally want to put my radio all together and install it in my car, as i had problems with my MCU software and finally could fix it thanks to wadzio but on that day it burnt so i still cannot put all together =)
I attached the pictures and i could see similar components on the board like DMB D8 or DM8 D8 as i circled in red. I just need to know what component it is so i can order and solder it to fix my radio =)
The burnt component, where one cannot identify it anymore but before i cleaned it up i saw the MB D8 part of it so i guess its the same part as the other good ones on the board.
Thank you guys
kaya

This is likely the transistor from your first picture:
http://www.adrirobot.it/datasheet/transistor/pdf/S8050%20_OT-23.pdf

Hey buddy, if i search for S8050 i get the J3Y ones, but the one which burnt had DMB, i looked upon some tables for smd codes.
But unfortunately that one is harder to find, i tried d8 sot23 and dmb sot23 on ebay, due to lack of knowledge i am asking here

What I said is that I think the transistor shown in your first picture is the one at the link...it appears to have part of the 'J'. I don't know what the second one is, sorry.

i found some result for D8, and you can try other marking code here

Hi mate,
I already tried that approach like you described, I changed that D8 SMD, but it burnt straight again.
So my last resort was to take voltage from somewhere else, and it works since almost two years now.

Digitizer / Glass Top / Touchscreen replacement

I just broke the touchscreen on my imate. The screen itself looks good and is working but I am missing a big part of the touchscreen (can't tap on it). Learning the fun of using the buttons.
I have been searching for quiet a bit on the web for someone who sells replacements and instructions on how to do it.
If you have any ideas please let me know.
PDASmart.com and GetHighTech.com don't have it and to send it back it will be $300+, looking for a cheaper resolution.
FWIW: I took it apart already, the screen has these numbers on it's back:
S/N: 1LLA23CA096717
P/N: 60H00011 - 00
ACX502AKN-7 350A73D
(the acx number seems to be a sony part number but I can't locate the part anywhere)
The number on the touchscreen is F2 NY-A29B 002
(I am attaching pictures, I have the hi-res version if interested)
Thanks,
Amr
digitizer found!!
Hi all,
I sent my imate to pdascmart.com, I just got word from them that they now do replacements for digitizers and screens for the imate/xda2/mda2.
However, replacing them is extremely hard and not like the xda. It is recommended to send it to them unless you have good experience in fixing electronics.
The ribbon on this screen is soldered not connected like the xda.
I'm really sorry for you..
well ive got mine changed.. a friend of mine who lives in london.. said he would arrange to get a replacement from O2(though i have i-mate).. it cost me about 260$..
anyways im curious how did you get it broke???

I was have the same problem with pictures (gray). I've renamed "DCIM" and "Camera" folders in SDCard for backup it, and pictures now works fine. Maybe you should try it, before do some hardware things .
Good luck! Hope you get it fixed. This thread belongs to the Q&A section, this isn't android development is it?

If you already identified the component and have the necessary equipment (the thinnest solder iron and tweezer that you can find, as well as steady hands), all that's left is a good luck, man.

I HAVE TRIED THAT NO LUCK ahhahah and i know that i broke my board part so i only need to se which part it is and now i knoc couse my face front cam is working and camcoder also but primary cam wont save pic and there say that those broken pieces are for primary cam so i ONLY need to solder them back if some one have some god advice please write it down
Just solder them with a fine tip on a 15/30w soldering iron. Done it a few times, SMD components are small, but not impossible. Have something to hold the component down and a magnifying glass will help.

How about this:
Take a piece of copper wire about 1mm in diameter.
Wrap it around the soldering iron end.
Wait until it heats up enough.
Now you have your own micro-soldering iron!

Hmmm nice one but i have seen something like soldering paste you put it under smd and just put it in place and when you heat it up with hot air it solder hehe this one is best for small things like those

Hi again i have one problem more now i know what tipe of SMD are those two but i dont know on which to chose OK this small one is x5r 6.3-10v and biger one x7r is from 10-200v i think size of both are the same just this small one is gray and other is brown, but there is allot other parameters and i dont know which is the right one (here is the datasheet of those and please have a look and if you know which i need write it down thanks http://www.yageo.ru/pdf/HighCaps.pdf I REALLY NEEEEEED MY CAMERA hahahaha)CAN I JUST TAKE THEM BY THIS INFO THAT I HAVE NOW IS THAT ENOUGH
You really shouldn't be playing around with the motherboard if you aren't 100% sure what you're doing. But seeing as you already have, the best bet would be try contacting Samsung and if if they'll fix it under warranty. Just be sure not to say that YOU messed with it. Just put everything back to where it was and make it look like you didn't open it or touch it. I just got mine back from warranty for a faulty motherboard so I know they can replace it easy.
Good luck,

[Q] Question about One pus One logic board

Ok well here is my issue. While replacing the LCD assembly on my one plus one I managed to rip off the metal connectors(I believe they are called pogo sticks) on the logic board that make contact with the antenna's on the back cover. I ripped the ones that control the WiFi/Bluetooth and also the GPS one. I was trying to figure out how to fix this since when trying to soder them back on there was nothing they could be soldered to. I'm basically left with the empty spots on the PCB board where they are supposed to go. While looking at the logic board I saw that there are a couple of pigtail looking connectors on it that don't have anything particularly connected to them. I was wondering if I could use those to repair my connection issues. Or of any of you have any advice to give thank you for all your help ^_^

Display replacement and troubles

First, sorry my english. If anything is incomprehensible, ask me.
Not long ago I dropped the device and fell to a gravel, not defended by the ?Gorilla Glass. It became a spider web. Essentially, the device was working, sensing the touch, and the display was relatively intact in just one spot a little pressed. I ordered a replacement part from here, because the glass also fell and because it couldn't stay. I chose express delivery, stuff arrived within 1 week. I have made it difficult to disassemble the device because the back is glued together. It didn't want to come down, I tried all kinds of plastic tools they had given and what they were, but the glue was so strong that they all broke (I'll be curious to know how to put them together). I had to use a paper cutter, because it is sharp and goes into the gap. Unfortunately, the breakdown at the corner is slightly visible, but it must be as much trouble. Luckily the adhesive came out of the battery. (I will also have to order it from somewhere for rebuilding ). The main panel also came out of the house nicely. If we are already here, I removed the unwanted heat conductor paste and replaced it with quality Grizzly.
The display did not want to come out, it glued to the frame so strongly that it was impossible to remove it. I managed to do it in pieces, and I licked the remainder for half an hour. Worse, there is something new, no matter. Then I realized that the new one had no glue, and that the old one could not be removed because it was not an adhesive, but something like a very thin siloplast. I have injection needles and black silo, so I can make up. No loudspeaker lattice was added. I hope I can take the old one somehow to stay together. And here comes the black soup:
I plugged in the cable and turned the phone on (not screwed up with just a few screws to hold it). I have a picture, I started to calm down. Need to unlock it, but don't works, it don't feel my finger. Nowhere. If I remove the factory foil, either. I looked at the stuff in more detail. The photo already shows that something is wrong in the lower right corner of the display. The original has a large square-shaped Synaptics S3330 chip, the touch panel controller (like Mi 5). However, this is missing from the replacement device, with a much smaller IC of "S20A X705E24". I have no idea what it is, but it is also suspicious that a ribbon cable goes below the original and there is nothing there. But on the site of the seller there is also the ribbon cable in the pictures and it is highlighted as "Multi fingers touch chip". This may be some great big scam. However, if it have a Touch controller IC and something that is supposed to work in principle, then the Synaptics driver (kernel module) is loaded on Android. I suspect that then this IC should get the kernel module somewhere and should be loaded to work with a rooted device. But I also thought that I would try some other rom (AOSP, LineageOS) and see if it would go with it, but chances are that Recovery would not work with a USB mouse + keyboard. Maybe there are different hardware versions of Chinese and global versions? Because it is possible that Chinese (or eu) would work.
I wrote to the seller that the stuff wasn't working, he said I would remove the connectors with an alcoholic cloth (of course he didn't help). Until then, the time was up to 15 days, so I can't start a dispute. He asked me how he could help, I wrote to him that I didn't know but I needed another display in this device. I wrote to him that he might be able to return my money or send another display. He said that if I stood at 75% of the cost then he would send a new one. At first I would have gone into it, but now that I've examined this and it turned out, I wrote it and sent the picture as well. I don't expect anything good.
I found another seller that is already fitted with the frame (minimal more expensive), maybe there shouldn't be any fun with gluing, I could do better if this is not solved this way.
What do you think about this whole thing?
That gold one is dor mix 2,and that black one is for mi mix 2s, right?

Core board component identification

I'm wondering if anyone knows what these are... I cant find any info anywhere on that particular SMD code. They're on the underside of a MTCD core board and there's a number of them. The burned one has something to do with the LCD backlight/dimming function, as this isn't working after a mishap that led to letting the smoke out. I believe they're either caps or diodes simce there's clearly a polarity marker on them, but I'm kinda at a loss and would really appreciate any light anyone could shine on my problem.
Thanks in advance!!!
Been a while, so I figured it'd be ok to bump. Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to get this thing functioning correctly again!!
How many solder pads? I intrepted the pic of the failed component as “TAK” looked it up here. Keep scrolling. https://smd.yooneed.one/code5441.html
Yeah... I found that site as well. The issue is that there's only two conductors on these components and every part listed there has more. So it's definitely not any of those they have listed.
